you know it's been three years since the last time you were on the show and I will just say right off the top here you look different than I remember it you've got a nice beard going and oh yeah thank you how is that the beard in my way well is it comfortable is it itchy is it are you pleased with it I'm okay with it now you're making me feel weird about it I'm sorry I'm making you feel weird about it is there something wrong I can't be the first one to make you feel
weird about it um no I guess not see that's what I'm talking about is it you do a lot of this I'm not just a nervous stick I think oh just a nervous stick uh you know I saw this uh I saw this movie the other night tremendous what a tremendous film you and uh who else is in it uh what's her name beautiful lovely um Gwyneth Paltrow oh yeah Vanessa Shaw very nice movie and uh you don't see movies like this much anymore and I was so gratified to see it and you were terrific
in the film I really enjoyed your work thank you laughs [Applause] are you um what uh what can you tell us about your days with the Unabomber thank you it's just a little joke um now I heard that uh that you were leaving uh acting and I said to myself that's too bad because uh You're great and you know not just me the two-time Academy Award nominations Walk the Line you were tremendous and walked alive so here's my hope that after some time off uh and I think you're taking a little time off tonight I
I'm hopeful that you will reconsider and and come back to acting because you're just you know nobody really better than you are thank you Never Say Never right I don't I don't know you don't know what I don't know if I don't know what'll happen but you you are you're not going to act anymore no why is that um I don't know I mean you have given it some thought yeah it's not really an easy thing to to explain it's something that's been part of my life for a long time you know and so it's
weird to like come out and Stage a bunch of other people and just talk about it um you know so yeah are you all right what happened to your thumb to my thumb which is a little cuticle mishap take a look at that that's infected damn it it's just a grooming machine that's that's infected no that's not edible I think that's um Joaquin what will you uh what will you do now um well I've been working on my music music but you know when I saw you in a walk the line I said this guy
is tremendous he's singing and it sounded great so is that the kind of music you're interested in no no I do um more hip-hop music hip-hop music um this is a joke what do you do what do you have them on I'm sorry I'm sorry what do you gas them up with it's just nitrous the kid in the front is drunk on warm Pepsi now Joaquin I uh I failed to mention also in the film is Isabella rossolini who plays oddly enough your mother she's just uh tremendous and you know about her her mother uh
what a what a wonderful beautiful actress she was as well so that must have been fun working with Isabella rossolini don't you think yes yeah I did yeah do you have any any fun stories to tell us [Applause] I mean no no fun stories yeah I mean I'm sure it's something fun happened um now when when will we see uh the the new music career the new hip hop uh career when when will we see that take off when can we because we want to be there uh well I I'd love to come on the
show and perform yeah one at a time yeah but I'm just I'm working on it you know it's uh you know that seems unlikely [Applause] I just I've seen some of the other guests okay well we'll we'll certainly keep you in our uh Rolodex um now this two levers now uh it's Loosely based on a novel by Dostoyevsky is that correct I don't know I mean I I think I think it might say that in the opening credits does it say that I haven't seen the movie I haven't seen the film yet yeah what a
surprise now uh you can you can you uh set up the clip for us Joaquin [Applause] are you kidding are you serious just the maniacal laughter I don't know what the clip is I don't know what the clip is it's uh you and maybe you and a scene with you and Gwyneth Paltrow oh you're doing fine uh or uh thanks uh High Praise coming from you [Music] seriously I'll come to your house and chew gum I don't have to no just relax now who is the who is the other uh young woman in the film
Vanessa Shaw oh my God just she's a lovely woman yeah and Isabella russellini and in this clip I think we're going to see you know what let's look at it we'll talk about it later okay okay Two Lovers it's called true lovers it's a lovely film really and Joaquin I'm sorry you couldn't be here tonight [Applause] yeah we owe an apology to Farrah Fawcett [Applause] um the film is two lovers opens Friday in selected cities thank you very much and good luck in your new career I hope that goes well for you [Music]
