superman man of tomorrow issue 13 heads to the daily planet offices where lois has brought perry a new exclusive story perry knows that this is an invitation for everything bad but lois knows her contact will bring out the good and they should trust the people of metropolis perry asked what jimmy's thoughts are since it was his photo but he regrets asking since he takes too long in answering perry knows that if you don't have guts you can't get the glory as he decides to print that superman is having the day off elsewhere superman is asked
by atlas if he wants to go through with this and he is but atlas tells him to brace himself since the heavens aren't trifled superman asks what he needs learning from atlas when zeus punished him to shoulder his burden he accepted it however he lost clark was actually meaning how much the heavens weigh but atlas says that it weighs most of what superman can bear plus more he wonders how he takes over and the hooded man tells him not to take it with his hands but with his heart focusing on the power superman takes all
of the weight finding it almost impossible to carry asking atlas how long he'll be but the being is already gone morning soon dawns in metropolis as lois and jimmy fly over the city lois knows that clark is out there somewhere and believes in him as she tells jimmy to keep his camera's batteries charged since it's going to be a busy day superman holds the weight of literal worlds as a young boy helps an elderly woman get her cat from a tree saying that it's just the sort of thing superman would do later in the day
supergirl stops the villain match from burning down a building for insurance money telling the arriving firefighter superman helps out in national city all the time so it's only fair that she helps him back as black canary stops silva banshee from robbing a museum and firestorm stops chemo from causing a chemical disaster superman begins to falter under the immense weight that night bruno mannheim and his thugs rubber bank but are confronted by a mob of citizens who plan on arresting the man bruno isn't deterred telling the mob to beat it however an old man says that
this is superman city and it is a good city and they aren't afraid of two big gangsters like him flash soon races in taking out all the thugs and bruno telling him that he's covered superman's shift tonight the old man says that the flash is a good man as barry races off saying the superman is always there in a crisis and it's the least he could do to help repay him at 30 minutes to midnight the daily planet is still working away covering all the heroes pitching in to help around the city perry wants to
know what lois's angle to this is since it seems like superman has just taken a vacation lois says that superman is needed elsewhere so the people he has helped in the past have all stepped up in his absence and while superman wasn't there in person he was part of everything good that happened today in the city perry asks when he's coming back wondering if she's got an exclusive on that but lois is unsure and superman continues to struggle with the weight of the worlds atlas soon returns to clark asking how he's going and clark compares
it to putting up hay on a farm atlas knows that keeping everything from crashing down means sacrificing much and if not for superman he would have had to have sacrificed a day no father should miss his daughter's wedding he says that he doesn't need an oracle to know that his daughter will now have joy for the rest of her days and that zeus was certain no one would ever volunteer to step in for the being so atlas enjoyed the look on the god's face when he saw him escort his daughter down the aisle atlas takes
back the weight causing superman to fall to the ground he asks if he was worried that he wasn't going to come back and clark admits that it had crossed his mind atlas knows only clark understands that those charged with the weight of the world will never wish it on another however it is good to know others will help when it's needed as superman lays down on the floor telling his friend that he's just going to rest for a while outside of metropolis john corbyn's upgrade to metallo is complete but his anger today wasn't his day
to be a hero with superman out of town general lane says the army didn't bring him back from the dead with a kryptonite heart so he could foil robberies lane says that his sole mission is that when the time comes superman goes rogue he will be the only one with the powers to stop him and he needs to be ready for that one mission but only when the general says so and if he has a problem with that lane doesn't care to hear it jon reluctantly obeys his commander anne is dismissed as the next morning
a young boy looks at a paper with the boy who saved the cat on the cover wishing that he himself was a hero soon clark comes by giving the boy a quarter for the paper machine and giving him a paper telling him to believe the news and everyone can be a hero showing the boy that he is superman and telling him that all it takes is giving people a helping hand superman men of tomorrow issue 13 was an absolutely phenomenal story by robert vendetti that returned his previous storylines of showing metropolis as a character along
with the heroes telling a frankly amazing story about superman's duties to the city and to the world i very much enjoyed the through line of superman pitching in to help out where he can and the people he inspires to do the same and step up when he's out of town scott hetburne's art was used really really well here as well as some simple yet effective paneling which was done in a way to show superman holding up the literal book which i very much enjoyed i thoroughly enjoyed this whole issue and can't wait for next week's
installment and the continuation of the metallo storyline that's been building up over the last two issues i'm going to give this issue a 10 out of 10. [Music] you
