Indian forces are keeping a close eye on the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine and Russia taking notes and implementing the Lessons Learned at a rapid Pace one key lesson in that regard is to develop the ability to protect the country from increased use of drones and other aerial threats in modern day Warfare the ability of an air defense system underscored by Israel's arome has made it clear that India needs to hasten the base of face induction of the fully automated project Akash the India has an ambitious plan to link the Countrywide groundbased
sensors of air defense network which so far has been operated separately by the Armed Forces this is being done to effectively counter incoming missiles the troops stationed along the northern and Eastern commands guarding borders against China and Pakistan have already been equipped with akasher systems India's fully automated and integrated air defense system out of the total requirement of 455 Akash air defense network systems7 have already been delivered with an additional 105 expected by March 2025 as per reports quoting Army sources the remaining units will be delivered by March 2027 ensuring comprehensive coverage across the Indian
Army's defense units and formations as per reports recently a real-time validation of Akash was carried out simulating scenarios expected in future was as for the Indian army the key features of Akash th include its Bottoms Up approach achieved through a fusion of all air defense sensors integrating landbased sensors from both army air defense and the Indian Air Force this ensures a seamless and unified air picture that is accessible to the lowest operational units of army air defense enhancing coordination and situational awareness after induction of Akashi there will be no need to manually enter data which
previously consumed precious time something which could pose a serious problem while trying to effectively counter aerial threats with no human input required the system operates efficiently allowing timely responses to fast moving aerial threats Army officials insist that by decentralizing the authority to engage hostile aircraft Akash empowers units on the front lines enabling rapid engagement decisions while maintaining controll freedom to prevent Friendly Fire incidents the Army sources said that this decentralization is particularly critical for units stationed along the northern and Eastern commands which are already equipped with Akash systems Akash consolidates live data from various sources
including 3D tactical Radars low-level lightweight Radars and the Akash weapon system providing a multi-dimensional view of the airspace this integrated picture is valuable for both strategic planning and immediate threat response giving IND forces and Edge in defending India's Skies the system is designed with robust communication redundancy ensuring connectivity even under adverse conditions [Music]
