hello guys and gals me mudahar and ladies and gentlemen today is going to be a fun little video about technology and how the government wants to destroy Google at least when it comes to Google Chrome now you might have heard the words uh the government is forcing Google to sell Chrome you might be wondering how the heck are they going to do that ladies and gentlemen well to understand all of this we're going to have to bring you up with some context we're going to have to bring you up with what has been going on in the last several months if not the entire year since 2023 has basically begun and also even before that there's been a massive amount of lawsuits that have kicked up known as antitrust lawsuits now if you know anything about big tech companies they make a lot of money and they're pretty much some of the biggest companies that anybody has ever seen in the history of time but not only are they big companies the products that they actually hold have so many users using them that it's almost difficult for some random person to jump into the market uh whether they be the smallest business in the world or an equivalent Mega Corporation it's impossible to jump into any business and compete with some of these entrenched products like imagine youtube. com how many other vide sharing websites do you know that even come close to youtube. com I would actually wager its 0% there are other alternative video sharing websites like Rumble Odyssey so on and so forth Daily Motion you probably heard of former competitors like I I think it was like vidle or vidme or things like that back in the day but ultimately youtube.
com is basically the video sharing website to go to it's where most of the world goes to watch any form of online on demand video at any given time so yeah it's clearly huge and also when it comes to a lot of these big tech companies any time you're entrenched in a specific Market you're pretty much going to be there for a while now in the last couple months you probably noticed that I made a video about Google basically being declared a monopolist now in the United States monopolies are completely illegal you can't run a monopoly and there's plenty of laws that are centered around it like for instance one of them is known as the Sherman Act and if you read the Sherman Antitrust Act just a quick little idea is it tells you the law prohibits conspiracies that unreasonably restrict trade under the Sherman Act agreements amongst competitors to fix prices or weight rig bids or allocate customers workers or markets are criminal violation but it also says the ACT makes it illegal to monopolize conspire to monopolize or attempt to monopolize a market for products or Services an unlawful Monopoly exist when one firm has Market power for a product or service and it has obtained or maintained that market power so to give you an idea why monopolies are bad just a quick example imagine in the world of video gaming Microsoft just bought every single Le video game like developer publisher out there uh all of the sudden they bought basically the entire industry right there because they had the money to do so Microsoft is substantially richer than Nintendo or Sony if there were no competition if there was no anti competitive laws they could basically buy out every single developer and make them develop exclusive games for the Xbox console basically snuffing out their competition right there and then now if all of a sudden the only player in the video game console space was Microsoft then they basically get to dictate how the entire industry goes they design the hardware and they can basically make you play on the same box for 20s something years right if they control an industry then they basically get to decide where it goes and to give an idea recently very very recently Microsoft got hit with Regulators not just in the United States when they tried to purchase Activision Blizzard a pretty massive player in video games where they were producing titles like Call of Duty World of Warcraft Diablo you know massive games at least Call of Duty that is played across numerous devices numerous consoles so the government didn't appreciate Microsoft just spending billions of dollars and buying out entire game developers and Publishers that clearly their competition couldn't and this is when the market jumps in to regulate a space when they detect when they detect that there's possibilities of a monopoly brewing and Microsoft doesn't want to deal with it they've got a pretty bad history with that already so this like 286 page ruling what one exact piece that I wanted to actually bring up here and remind you was this page right here was this mentioned Google has a major largely unseen advantage over its Rivals default distribution most users access a general search engine through a browser so something like Apple Safari or a Search widget that comes pre-loaded on a mobile device these search access points are preset with a default search engine the default is extremely valuable real estate because many users simply stick to searching with the default Google receives billions of queries every day through these access points Google deres extraordinary volumes of user data from such searches it then uses that information to improve search quality Google so values the data absent a user initiate a change it stores 18 months worth of user search history and activity so what they're effectively going with over here is when you purchase an iPhone for example this is not a Google product so if you decided not to install any application from the get-go your basic web browser would be ios's Safari now the thing about search defaults is when you open up Safari and you basically go to the URL page and you type in any prompt and hit enter it immediately defaults to google. com so that default is worth so much money in fact it's worth around $26 billion in total payments not just to Apple obviously but to pretty much everyone in the uh you know Tech sphere Google pays around $26 billion to make sure that across multiple devices they are the default so in a case where you're not even downloading Google Chrome or any Google application you probably are going to be defaulting to using Google and that's so important for Google at this moment in time that they will pay a massive chunk of money to give you an idea about how much money Google makes in its web browsing Market in its advertising space in digital advertising through search engine defaults like that we have to look at a graph for them and their competitors so for instance Google's ad revenue is calculated right here so around $237 billion dollar at one point I believe in 2023 so again ladies and gentlemen that number keeps just going up now when you compare them to their competitors like Microsoft which is again clearly a massive company you're looking at $12. 2 billion and that of course would be money generated via big search engine how many people do you know use Bing we'll get the exact number or somewhere close to it real quick then of course the next competition here is buy do and then Yandex coming in very much at the end I mean yandex's revenue is literally an accounting error for Google at this point it's actually that wild now when you look up search engine market shares the one thing that actually should stick out is the only double digit here is Google so 89% of again the world according to stat counter in their examination uses Google after that 4.
1 4. 15% use Bing so literally Microsoft search engine is like like literally just a fraction of the amount of people that go visit Google right then you've got Yandex then you've got Yahoo and then BYU and duck ducko comes at a cute 0.
