bring your brains up a bit this is not a Content dump now we will talk task two so if you want in a Zone because you're like I'll read that think about that later just pretend that you're listening for me okay great but if you are like oh I haven't read this then maybe yes you should pay attention just a little bit okay let me just open up tomorrow good things is sitting in your assessment portal I dropped in some helpful things last night as well the task two it's not YouTube no till November and
that's the same date for both JC 101 and JC 401 so tasks two it's called your ministry practice profile so due on Wednesday the 8th of November it is worth 50 of your grades so uh both skin side both assignments are equally as important let's give them the attention required okay uh jc101 is 2 000 words JC 401 is three thousand words which which is quite a lot uh which is why we've set up a helpful tool reflection tools and some outlines to kind of go hey how do you break this down so let's open
and should we also have our unit handbooks or not yeah yeah I might do it on here does this one require a yes yes so I will open the JC 101 unit handbook so the 401 the the difference is the word count and also really that critical analysis so we're looking for JC 401s for critical thinking critical analysis comparing contrasting really um digging deeper into your resources your academic texts your supporting and how you come up with your position on things okay so task two reading from JC one or one space all right here we
go undertake a Ministry practice project and reflect on your involvement and development that's a good sentence Undertaker Ministry practice project and reflect on your involvement and development so looking at something quite specific here not looking at a bunch of different areas of things that were going hey let's narrow down on on a thing right a project by undertaking the ministry practice profile reflection tools and we'll go through those in a minute you have to complete a Ministry profile for your involvement during this unit and reflect on your development so this is really just this is
a reflective piece it's getting you looking at what you're doing it's getting you involved getting you thinking about what you're doing and reflecting on what you're doing and then putting it together in a delightful paper that we can read about so it's recommended you consider it in the present context of your current Ministry or employment so not adding something we're not saying hey you need to add this giant project to your life please don't do that because you might max out but what can you what do you have already what's in your sphere in your
scope what are you involved with what could that look like within what's already happening and if you need help with that please get in touch and we can talk out some ideas or you can go hey I'm thinking this is this which one would work best or what should I do there we can have that chat and appendix for format we'll do that in a minute and you can include photos people involved feedback evidence so there is broader scope for this assignment so it's yes you need your academic sources your references all of those things
with supporting what you've thought you're supporting your thinking you're supporting what you've come up with what you've recognize but there's a broader scope for being able to go hey here's here's what I did as to what it looks like you can add resources such as photographs drawing Frameworks a whole bunch of those things anything that's going to support showing what you did and what you've learned uh we always encourage you to look at your assessment marking sheet because that's what you get marked against so we'll might do a quick run through of that and your
main goal in bold reflect on the process of personal Ministry development in life and ministry as a result of this project now what you want to do is you want to narrow down your learnings through this particular thing to these particular weeks in this particular unit so we understand that you're involved in lots of subjects lots of Life work Church all of those things but if we can focus on going hey what have we learn in this period what have we learned through this project this is what I'm reflecting on so I'm really encouraging you
to bring it to that specificness of what this is because otherwise your reflection your assignment is just going to be they get not particularly helpful okay so you're reflecting what's God's saying how's this experience part of God's larger plan for your life it's personal but it's also discerned collectively so you'll have leaders lecturers people around you that can help in that space so uh as images mentioned before also reflect on 39 hours of ministry this semester in relation to personality temperament spiritual gift testing personal Ministry profile we'll go through that in a minute uh scholarly
references you need five minimum five dollar resources don't include your study guide they don't include your Bible they're outside of the scope of that okay which means that I should be seeing those sitting as extras and you should have have your five um as you just read through as we just looked at Administration Ministry practice you notice that when it actually there's quite a few quotes scholarly resources in this particular chapter so if you're talking about a process or something that's been created or you brought something in Japan or you might find that this week
actually will help you in getting those goal resources or going actually this is my rationale for why I did this so they are easier than you think to find there's bibliographies at the end of all of your chapters of where um some text you've got your two set text for the unit you will be able to find those you just have to intentionalize using them okay so you do have to include your course practice Ministry hours long so because this is a practice unit we want to see that you're doing that work on the ground
that's requirement it's a hurdle for it 39 hours it includes what you've done already so it doesn't start from now 39 hours across the space of the unit and if you were involved in Ministry development week that's a solid amount of hours in there just make sure you name what it was name the components you can break them down if you want or you can do a good description of a big chunk of hours structure [Music] so even here there's got some readings as well that are available through CHC Library um church and team caring
connecting a lot of these have been utilized uh through the the weekly lectures as well those recommended readings so let's go to our marketing cry interior sheet for Tusk can you hear me Sam okay so you've adequately undertaken an appropriate Ministry practice project uh that's why if you're unsure please check in we you've got to pick an appropriate project to do you reflected on your involvement in development using reflection tools so not just I thought I thought about this I don't know we want to see some tools being used for reflection as well you've described
General Ministry principles and practices so you're showing the understanding basically of the content that we've been teaching this unit uh here are some principles guidelining ministry here are some practices that um that have i utilized within the context of this and you've identified key content Concepts in your ministry development throughout the project that's where it's that self-reflection's happening he demonstrated theological and biblical competence so your why should sit biblically your project there should be some aspects that you can go hey here's my rationale here's my understanding of it this is this is why and and
here it is here's my theological and biblical rationale yeah I think Kayla had a question but but yeah you got your hands oh no we have to restart this because I had the mute button on that was your question wasn't it paler can you hear me yes now we've got to do this whole thing again oh no no no no I could hear you that whole time yeah I could hear you but I was trying to ask a question for something about two minutes ago or three minutes ago and and um it just wasn't yeah
my new button must be actually muting you guys instead of meeting me yeah that's all right that's all right um I was just curious about like because during our ministry development week like those hours would count would it mean like only the hours that I was on you know on the um what is it called Pulpit or something or on the like I I was sharing my testimony for for example for like four minutes during that um uh during the like on the weekend but would it did you have to prepare for that yes yes
did it take time to prepare for that yeah that is for hours oh okay cool so it wouldn't be like the drive or anything though and like um like should should we include like the praying for people at the end is finished yes okay yes um I'm Gonna Leave the context of the driving hours uh in your own space of integrity [Laughter] um because I don't know how um how how holy that was in the drive how much fellowship or or you know stuff was happening there so I'm gonna I'm gonna leave that in your
space there's a possibility because you didn't give those times you did give that to service that was required as part of it so yes I'm not I'm definitely not saying no just sorry just clarifying with the ministry log yes um there's actually not one in our unit handbook so just clarifying that can be found I will show you it just in a minute yes I did it I checked that yesterday and I also noticed that so you're 39 hours and then your learning outcomes Identify and discuss various Ministry functions within a local church so we
want to see in this reflection and in this project that you you actually know what happens you know these Ministry functions even if it's part of your intro or your lead-in going with in the local church have identified that Ministry he looks like xyzes this is what it looks like I'm going to focus on this so we want to see an understanding and then a discussion of different ones obviously you're not going to be able to discuss every single Ministry function of the local church so just make sure you do include a variety General Ministry
principles and how they can be applied so just drawing on someone's that we've touched on throughout the lectures so if you have to go back through there absolutely do that um we looked at Jesus how we taught how we worked all of those things uh engage and develop foundational skills so we want to see you noticing the skills that are required in Ministry practice and developing them so ideally if you're not uh ideally you've changed I certainly throughout this unit throughout these 12 weeks however that has happened through the learning through the practice there's been
some development here for some of you that might be huge for some of you that might be increments for some of you you might be like how have I developed and you might need to still figure that out so but there should be some development if you've been taking these things on board and you're trying to you're trying to put them into practice right we're giving you tools different tools across each way going hey if this is the gift if this is your space that you're in right now put that into practice let's try that
and then your communication needs to be at a tertiary level assessment writing that's standard in terms of how we write it okay let's go to your appendix so those appendices okay this is four past two reflection tools okay so this appendix is your tool that forms the structure it's giving you a framework aren't we lovely have a framework and the the tools are within this so we say tools let's unpack them okay so your title page is normal we just talk through the marking sheets uh your introduction pretty standard the personal Ministry context is what
we're calling reflection tool one so this is about describing your personal Ministry practice context and your ministry log should reflect that like if you start talking about your ministry contacts and and the space that you're in and then your log is talking about something completely different we're going to be confused so try not to do that so put down what you've been involved with those hours and your project that space again it should link they're not all going to be the same but we should kind of go oh yeah that sat within that space keep
in mind that you want to identify those functions we talked about describe the principles and engage in development skills now here is something which May challenge you then consider what your personal Ministry mission statement is and your poor Ministry values we're hearing a lot of noise from you Kayla oh sorry um someone's upstairs their um vacuuming Ministry mission statement has anyone done that is that overwhelming is that like oh yeah I can do that how are we feeling about this is this brand new okay gives you an idea like what is a mission statement to
begin with uh include a paragraph about it before writing it out to be simple explicit short your mission statement must reflect what you've identified in your research and definition be sure to reference it correctly now you can do this in a number of ways you can start here or you can do this one a bit after so if you're struggling with going what is my personal Ministry mission statement or what what is this look at what you've done start writing start noting those things that this is my project oh I see these links oh yeah
now I just have to write them clearer and put it in and this is this is why I'm doing this I tend to work backwards from that place because if I someone says write me initiative statement of this I'm like there's way too many options here I don't know what I'm doing so sometimes it's easier to go hey here's a project is a context here's the hours that are happening what am I doing what's my Mission Ministry mission statement in this space this does not have to Define your life Call It can if you want
I'm giving permission for that okay it can if you want but it might at this time be quite specific to this particular season of your life to this particular space that you're in and that's okay as well so in that paragraph that we have to chat about it are we like explaining how we came to that conclusion like giving all the variables that brought us to that conclusion or just it's like expanding more on the statement this the description of it here says include the definition regarding mission statement before your statement it's almost saying like
here's the justification of why I have a mission statement so an academic resource of the importance or the value of mission statements might help there to say I've developed my personal mission Mission Ministry statement has been developed based on the importance of knowing that through this blah blah blah referencing that and then going and sorting this is this I my mission statement is that so they're looking it's it's going hey here's the justification of having an admission Ministry statement and then as you said is my justification of it and here it is so it probably
a solid component will have those kind of three emphasis it won't just go here's what I did and there's my wife it's like well here's why the concept is important here's why I mine looks like this and referencing it uh keep it simple the more complex you go on this the more um justification of it you'll need to do so the more explaining of it which could really kind of bump out your word count I mean you've got you've got space to talk about it but try and keep explanations of Concepts clear simple and not
heaps of words about them unless you find and unless you're finding like a really poignant quotes you really shouldn't be using quoting in stuff like this like because what's the most important part of this it's actually your statement that's the quote according yourself like this that's what you're leading to so if somebody if a different academic resource or something has this that's more impacting than your mission statement your paragraphs just going to read a little different so just use the sources to back up how your process of how you got there and then it's identify
your full core Ministry values Begin by researching what a core value is I think we've gone through that in previous lectures there's some references for for those um write a paragraph summary of your research including a definition so they're we're really looking at this definition of the terms definition of mission statement definition of core values then bringing them into what your core values are what your mission statement is so there's that process of getting there uh identifying so yeah do research of that some of the research before progressing identify each of the core values and
give a short description of what you mean by them so you don't want to go to this big expanding of all the core values just give your definition of the core value kind of how we've done in a few of these weeks what is Administration to you in Ministry context boom and then you might have a reference because you've drawn it from a particular Source or something's um made relevant to you through um for instance on the texts that we've read today um and add scriptural support now I like to say we don't added it's
not an add-on again from what we talked about today what's your theological rationale behind this your core value is this I'm not adding a scripture on it just to go a few I'm gonna get a scripture to back it up no no no if it's a core value it came from a theological philosophical place that you're like this is where it's from so you might even start with the scripture you might go hang on I read a lot of scriptures about oh wait they're all in the same topic oh that's what that's a core value
so core values is sometimes if you haven't figured them out they're easy to figure out by what you what you're passionate about doing what you are doing and then what you're reading and what you're speaking about okay that's tool one any questions until one just a bit of the black tip um because the personal personal administrative context seems like this like a log in there so roughly like word count how much should we should we dedicate of our work count to that particular area this is a great question and I don't have see I'm drawing
this straight from Moodle right now so this is in this yeah this is not in the assessment page this is from the handbook so this is in your unit resources page because there's too many pages so this is in your handbook for the unit um conclusion I mean use your normal function of your percentage of intro and conclusion and then you've got then you've got four tools I would try I when there's no word count and breakdown of it and there's no emphasis of hey this is more important than this try and break your word
count evenly the talk between your four reflection tools if as you go you go hang on I've got way more content here for this is that valuable is that needed there then great because if the particular project that you're doing leans more towards actually I've got to explain this in this part or this tool is more relevant for what I'm doing we don't want you um like it's kind of like if you had sore a hammer or a screwdriver thing you're picking up a screwdriver to bang a nail into the wall like we don't want
you to use the tool just for the sake of using a tool but you've got to use all the tools but please use the ones on the emphasis that's going to suit your project and reflection better so show that you can use all the tools do those steps if you want to unpack it more just make just make sure sure you're giving as much as you can that emphasis to all of them remember emphasis is not an importance is not necessarily in word count because if you write a whole bunch of words that really fluff
around and say the same thing kind of wasted your words in that space just for the sake of breaking it into four even Parts whereas if something if you've answered the bits use the tool and it's punchy it actually means you've got more words for this bit which you might want to say more about so it's about how it reads and how it how it presents so your second tool uh reflecting on your call to Ministry we spoke a few weeks ago about the call right about vacation about what Colleen looks like about how all
of that um so reflecting on that for you we're clarifying any ambiguous issues uh remember some examples here so you don't have to use all of these uh questions they're reflection prompts to help you right so this is one of those spaces reflection tools again that um it's the word count is depending on what you want to use in here what you don't want to accidentally do is for instance in the call to Ministry section blow out your word count and have little uh scholarly sources in that space because that's really easy to do right
because you could go you just talk about yourself I want to talk about what's happened but then that's going to be hard to to draw in scholarly sources unless some learning some readings and transformation stuff actually resonated they supported like what someone said and what God said to you like you can draw those things in together so these questions are reflection prompts to help they're not compulsory questions reflect on the first time you sense God may be calling you to your service what were your feelings and reactions and what about now what's a sense uh
their leaders in the Bible who were called for Ministry that parallels your call so you might have identified that along the way in terms of how these Ministry practice areas that we've been going through and still are like we've got preaching to go through Justice to go through you might go wow that really resonates with me I I get inspired by the call of Jeremiah where the nation was just turned away from God and and I and and I don't find it like dreary and depressive being outside this face but I I find Hope in
that God could use me in a place of darkness and like you can align it in however you align with what that that call looks like uh different scriptures describe the way God revealed so you might have read something uh and it resonates with how you were called it might be like how the disciples kind of cast lots and then they went and asked and said hey we're going to lay hands on you and pray and send you out like that might have been what someone you know know the leadership team pastoral team came to
you and went hey you've done a great job in this space we've prayed about this your names have come up with some we actually want to send you here that might have been your call or it might have been it might have been on the road to um Emmaus who might have been the slightness that might have been a super miraculous situation of a call so that's that's those examples there um how do you view your call to Ministry fitting in with the overarching this year day admission of God how does it sit how are
you and co-workers co-laborers with Christ as part of his mission remember it's not our mission it's God's Mission um definitely putting in the notion of that like we don't want to read assignments about me I my thing let's do it how we know who all are which is we're part of the mission of God we're in service in Mission Ministry is service where we're part of that together so how does the calls to specific Ministry differ from the caller God to all Christians you might um you might write about that and how that comes like
um or you might write the opposite in terms of the call of God you might not have like this niche of specificness but it might be a broader call right now in a supportive in a learning way you might be called to learn right now and and to study that's so so you can put that in context um what kind of connection do you see between your quarter Ministry and your spiritual gifts so this is kind of I'll link it back to today's lecture when Paul was talking about how he had to preach that he
had this gift did he understood it well like if you haven't done the spiritual gifts tests and assessments and process and all those things that help you identify your spiritual gifts please let me know when we'll find those resources I know whoever was in our comms class last unit um you've got a lot of research already you can completely use all of that that you did so all of your who are in our communication for Ministry units and did uh the spiritual gift profiles and all of those just use that it's only been a month
or two a couple of months it's still going to be very relevant if you want to do it again Feel Free as well so if you need any help in that space please get in touch because we do want to see this self-awareness of gifts and Graces in your lives and what's God given you what are you stewarding what are you learning what are you got inklings of all of those things I don't think it's been used in what ways are you seeking to develop them you might be like you might talk about how you're
Discerning whether you do have this particular gift and that discernment process in is part of the development that discernment process is part of the call how many times in the Bible who am I that you should call me are you sure you're calling me actually I can't speak very well you might want to that's that's part of this topic of this reflection tool of looking at the call of God so please know we're not looking for a god called me to no this is this is holistic everything we've been talking about okay reflection tool oh
any questions on that reflection tool reflection tool through it uh this section talks about theological reflection on Ministry development now there is another appendix that talks about theological reflection which we'll go to in a bit but here's some prompts again so you don't have to answer this question these are prompting what has been the most significant Revelation you've had with regards to understanding Ministry and Ministry practice and yes if you can draw it from this unit it's going to help you because if you draw it from this unit you're probably going to have references that
then support it which is going to make your assignment better that's helped shape your ministry development and understanding this semester okay so what's some of those big rocks had all those big openings that have just taken a scale up all gone whoa I see it like this now but oh that's bigger what are some of those has there been an event like you know chorus momentous a moment in your ministry practice so far it could be positive or negative that has brought to the surface Identity or other issues I don't know if you debriefed Ministry
development week or any of the things that happen there don't mind it being positive there might have been negative there might have been something that in the practice of it you've gone hang on a minute I probably should have done X Y and Z or all of that they're like I thought it would sit and it might have brought something up you can definitely use that as a as a discussion as a development point uh how has this event shaped your identity or understanding of identity when we talk about identity we're talking about again that
intrinsic why that imagio Dave made in the image of God Who We Are as an individual as a body of Christ and how how is that that thing that external shaped out internal or affected that so these are these this is the deeper reflection can you see that in this section so we're really kind of going deeper on that of our identity in Christ any questions on two or three okay two four this is where any of those personality temperaments gifting test profiles um can be used as a basis for evaluation So Below are some
areas to reflect on and evaluate to help determine an assess your ministry Readiness remember any tests sources biblical material all right personal characteristics consider your personal characteristics how they equip Hindu and Ministry practice it's a great reflection right just name them wisdom be aware of them how they're equipping or hindering some characteristics you could consider reflecting on your style of relating to people in tasks the strengths that you exhibit handling of change conflict and stress areas of weakness planned for growth collaboration as a leader as follower teamwork and this is where you can draw from
your other units or previous studies as well which could help in this section spiritual life is number two so spiritual State spiritual life we're getting you to write about it this is a place of vulnerability as well we share openly in prayer in classes and for our online students hopefully in the context of your uh Church your your sharing there's a place safe space of openness this is putting it in a task and assignment and it can feel quite vulnerable when you're naming it when you're writing these things what here's some promptings what key factors
have promoted or inhibited your spiritual growth and have used it at just a period of time in the last three years you might use it across this semester you might have been like actually my Spiritual Development from when I started this semester compared to last you might kind of be identifying different things this is reflection this is vulnerability of what you're noticing can you identify God's involvement in your personal and professional growth during this period says assessment periods just think of that as a unit period what's the most significant thing you've learned about God in
these past 10 weeks how's it affected your spiritual life that was your spiritual life affected your ministry practice like how entwined are things how how a meshed is it is it embodied are you in a place of learning that you're like I I'm I'm trying to bring it all together in a holistic way that I've got my spiritual practices in prayer here and then I I click into this and I'm trying to join them together I'm trying to or this is working this is not working or I find a flow when I'm in this is
looking at your spiritual life and reflect on whether your ministry practices presence Focus or performance Focus I don't particularly think you need to do that but if you want to do that you can and just based on knowing our class so um spiritual life any questions on that point why not goals and future plans so this is part of ministry Readiness reflection mentality uh that looking forward just as we talked about in in the administration process of ministry and practice and Ministry there's that goal there's that what's ahead there's that end game I think well
what you're talking about uh what are we seeing what's the plan goals for uh you have for the future in Ministry practice some might be short term this might be about your um your results for semesters it might be your learnings or your Transformations through uh through your studies here or they could be they could be super practical they could be really big deep philosophical and they could be individual they could be in the sense of community and how do you plan to see them through so the three areas of reflection there are really looking
at you in the context of ministry characteristics spirituality and goals and plans so make sure you hit those three topics um and I would definitely keep those even in terms of your word count don't don't go crazy on one and not the other because those are they're just kind of key areas in there and then your conclusion so the goals in future plan thing is kind of what's going to lead you to your conclusion any questions I know that's taken longer than it usually would to unpack a task but the reflection tools are quite specific
so I wanted to go through them and then we'll open up the theological reflection and stuff any questions from Kayla no I'll do the best thing about this assessment is that you can really chip it away at it pretty much straight away you can like you can pick a pick a reflection tool and just do it they you don't have to have them like the reflection tools don't have to interlock with um with one another and you can make them but you can keep them quite separate which means you can start working on them just
create a wavy okay so let's so that's sitting in the unit resources as part of your unit handbook so your unit resources in the assessment portals you have your ministry as log templates here this is what we're talking about before you just put in your name semester subject and the hours the description and then for integrity purposes sign off that it was you that did it and you did actually do it so there's one there for jc101 JC 401 they're pretty much the same they just have different headings um and then the reflection here I
put that separate yes no I was helpful Yang okay so that you didn't have to dig through your unit guide for it but the unit will have the task explanation and the bibliography and stuff but the reflection tools is there for it questions are we good we're good all right I'll leave that with you yes it's November yes you've got your other assignment and tasks which you're madly doing or calmly doing and submitting this week but get in touch along the way with with any questions you have with it right okay
