hello everyone and welcome to the channel I'm Emanuel I'm a former Boeing 737 pilot and welcome to the taxi tutorial in the iFly Boeing 737 Max we have completed our engine start and the before taxi checklist and we are now going to taxi to the active Runway before we start rolling a quick look at the navigraph charts we have pushed from up here and our taxi route is going to lead us southbound over here then left onto Bravo and all the way to rade 26 right which is our departure Runway so basically straight Ahad to
the end left hand turn and then towards the end to our holding Point okay once the procedures are complete we are going to check that we are clear on the left side we are clear on the right side and then we can turn on the taxi and the runway turnoff lights before we start to roll release the park breake by pressing the brake pedal and in order to ini iate the taxi we are going to do the takeoff configuration check this is done by advancing both thrust levers to the forward stop and then back to
the idle position and if anything would be wrong with our takeoff configuration we would get an alert over here as you can see no alert so the aircraft is in a good configuration the most frequent reason to get an alert is that people arm the speed brake people are used to do that from Air buses but if you do it you get the take of config warning so do not arm your speed break the 737 Max has a very high idle thrust that means that the aircraft starts to roll normally on its own without the
requirement to add any thrust to it and as you can see sometimes it needs a little Breakaway thrust but once it's rolling it's usually accelerating an idle you can see that that it's slowly getting faster as we are taxiing since the max is equipped with carbon brakes only the max is going to get more ineffective or the brakes are going to get more ineffective the hotter they become this means we got to manage our brake energy wisely as we're taxying so the following technique is the best recommended practice let the aircraft accelerate until it reaches
30 knots then break it back down towards 10 knots and slowly let it accelerate again until it reaches 30 and repeat as necessary that way you get the least brake usage and your brakes are staying as cool as possible when you're braking be sure to apply them symmetrically and smoothly so that you just about reach the speed you want for turns greater than 30° we want to limit our taxi speed to a maximum of 10 knots use a little bit of an over steering technique as you can see here I'm just overshooting the center line
slightly with my flight deck which is necessary because the nose wheel is located so far in front of the main Wheels it's not as significant as it is for example in the Boeing trip 7 or the Abus a321 but it's certainly is a necessity especially when operating on narrow taxiways the following speed restrictions apply in general to your taxi on aprons do not go faster than 15 knots on straight taxi lines we can go up to 30 knots but in turns of 30° or more we need to reduce our speed down towards 10 knots when
we are backtracking an active Runway we can go up to 5 Z knots 50 knots so as we are now taxing towards the departure Runway 26 right let's go ahead and do the B4 takeoff checklist down to the line the before take of checklist to the line includes a couple of basic items to once again check that our aircraft is save for operation first of all we are once again going to do a takeoff configuration check when that is good we recheck our flap setting so flaps 2 is entered in the FMC and uh sorry
flaps 5 is entered in the FMC and flaps 5 is showing on the gauge and the green light is showing next up we check the trim which shows 6.67 units calculated and we indeed have 6.67 units set down here next we're going to review our takeoff briefing and this simply suits in order to give us the or in order to refresh our mind with the latest information available so we just include the most important things over here so this is going to be a left seat takeoff Runway 26 ride flaps 5 noise batement departure procedure
number two two takeoff speeds 141 141 144 and our sit takes us initially straight ahead with a left hand turn if I'm not mistaken yes Straight Ahead left hand turn climbing to 19,000 however there is an flight level 8 Z or below restriction on the Sid however vvf is going to manage that in case of an engine failure we go straight ahead to three nautical miles and then make that right hand turn until 12 itical miles and then towards lynon climbing to an altitude of 6,000 which keeps us safe do you have any questions on
the briefing no very good so this serves just to bring us the most important numbers back into our mind in case anything significant happens on our taxi once that is done we are going to press the attendant call button and then we'll turn the no smoking sign to the on position which is going to serve as a reminder for us that the cabin is now secured for departure when you reach the holding point of the runway be sure to stop the aircraft ahead of the taxi of the whole Trot Line But be sure to get
close enough to it this requires a little bit of um Imagination here in order to determine the best point to stop the aircraft like this in general if the whole Shot line goes roughly through the mCP if you have the optimum seating position then it is going going to be in a perfect position let's set the parking brake and a quick check as you can see we stopped the aircraft right up at the holding point if you stop too far behind which is a tendency that some Pilots have some Pilots tend to stop the aircraft
with that line still visible up here then chances are that your tail plane is reaching into another taxi way and an aircraft that is meant to taxi behind you might crash into you so now that the air has come to stop we are going to turn off the taxi light which is an indication to everyone around us that we are not going to move before that light comes back on and that concludes our taxi tutorial thank you very much for watching I do hope that you found this one interesting be sure to leave your like
