in this video I'm gonna give you seven Google product listing ads also known as Google shopping ads secrets coming up right now my name is Travis I've done over two million dollars with e-commerce and most of it came from Adwords and product listing ads in fact product listing ads has probably been in the secret to my success with e-commerce and that's part of the reason I compiled this list of seven secrets for you and I also do have a course you can click up here and down below to find out more but let me give
you all the free great material I have so let's go over all seven of the secrets and then we'll go over each one in detail so you're number one is good images I'm gonna give some tips specifically on how to create high quality images that will sell for product listing ads figure number two is keyword rich titles for your product listing ads secret number three and this is the most overlooked thing about product listing ads and it blows my mind that so many people make this mistake is negative keywords that is the key to product
listing ads that nobody seems to know about so we'll talk about in depth about that for number three number four remarking you already have the traffic coming to remarket we'll talk more about that when we get to number four number five is review and adjust this is a necessary part of the adwords experience you're paying for all this data let's use this data to become more profitable number six let's create text adwords you're paying for all this data once again let's use this to our advantage list to make more money off of it I'll talk
about that for number six finally secret number seven well you have to wait till the end of the video to watch this one this is the answer to a lot of your guys's questions how can I get more traffic to my PL A's how can I get a cheaper bid this is probably the most secretive of all the secrets I'm gonna make you watch the rest of this video but all of these are extremely important especially number three and number five are things that you need to be doing and a lot of people fail because
they do not do them so let's get started with number one good images so what makes a good image for a product listing ads you might be asking yourself well there's a couple of different things here one of it is it's gotta be something that people want to click on it's got to be describing the product properly it depends obviously on what the exact product is but you want to show your product maybe if it's a clothing for instance being worn on someone we my biggest tip for this is search for the keyword that you'd
like your product listing ads to come up for and then look and and see what the other images look like you want your image to pop you want your image to stand out an example of this is in the early days of product listing ads if people were to look up blue dance pants they'd see a bunch of black dance pants and then my blue dance pant in the middle there why is this well well we'll talk more in this video about why that is but you want to create images that people are actually gonna
click on and buy so let me do a quick screen share to show you some examples of good images versus bad images for product listing ads at the top here we see the product listing ads and let's take a look at good images versus bad images so someone's searching for yellow dance pants and you get this image this is a pretty poor image first off the black background is interesting because it pops but it looks doesn't look great and then the pants themselves don't have a person in them it's just not a great image and
then you have this image over here which is not even of yellow dance pants which I don't know why it's showing but ideally they'd want a picture of yellow dance pants for something related to yellow dance pants and then these three funny enough are all mine and pretty good you have the white background which looks nice and then the white background really makes the image itself pop so if someone searching for yellow dance pants and they see these that are yellow obviously yellow and they are dance pants they're more likely to buy them so that
is good versus bad images right there and obviously for your own product you're gonna want to think what's gonna look good right here type in whatever your keyword you're going for and see what it looks like in the middle here so number two is keyword rich titles and the way product listing ads work is that Google you submit your feed to Google and Google shows it for whatever it wants to show it to so one of the workarounds is including the keywords in your title that you'd like your ad to be shown for and a
lot of people do this very poorly I'm gonna show you an example in just a second of some of my product listing ads and why I insert certain keywords into there but this is a mistake a lot of people make is not having the proper title or just having a really boring title so let me show you an example of some good product titles for some bad product titles looking at the titles you want to try to put in the title whatever you're trying to rank for so for me I'm putting yellow as the first
thing because people are typing in yellow dance pants I want them to show see my product a really bad title would be the jogger what does that even mean it's not very descriptive we got dance pants boot pants black large adult it's decent but this M 2 2 2 1 5 n no one's gonna be searching for that so that's kind of a waste to have that in the title so another thing I'll do is I'll add 200 plus colors handmade in the USA it's just like another little bit to try to get people it'd
probably be better to do more keywords in there but that's the difference between a good title and a very bad title right here secret number 3 negative keywords and this is one of those mistakes that when people make it it just blows my mind I don't know why you would do that you need to have a ton of negative keywords in fact I have a video for you up here on how to find negative keywords for your product listing ads for AdWords in general click up here to watch that but the key is to have
as many as you possibly can I have I think four thousand five thousand negative keywords for my product listing ads and the reason why is Google will show it for whatever it thinks is relevant but do you really want to in the way that Google gets paid is every time someone clicks on your ad they make money they don't get paid when you make money so what you want to do is you want to tell Google hey don't show my ad if this comes up for instance with my dance clothing company I might show say
hey Google for blue dance pants I don't want you to show my ad if someone types in Amazon because if someone types in blue dance pants Amazon they're looking to buy from Amazon I don't want them to see my ad because they're not gonna buy for me and that's not always true but that's just one example or maybe I don't want to show my ad if they type in blue dance pants with red stripe so I might do stripe for instance as a negative keyword my pants don't have any stripes it's just solid blue dance
pants so that's an example of negative keyword did you want to think of as many of those as you can and there's the tools up here in that video that I talked about to find the negative keywords but ad seriously a thousand two thousand three you can't add too many negative keywords it's well worth your time because if you don't add that negative keyword Google will probably end up charging you for a click that'll probably end up showing your ad for something that you don't want it to be shown for cigarette so you've already paid
so once someone's you know clicked on your product listing add they've come to your website you've already paid for that click they're probably pretty qualified they're probably interested in buying but what happened they get distracted they leave your website they forget about you you want to remarket to them and you can do Google AdWords remarketing display ads there's a bunch of different things you can even do it through product listing ads but that's a separate more advanced topic but once someone's already come to your website you want to get them back there again and again
and again and remarketing is one of the cheapest most profitable ways to do it so don't let people fall through your funnel you want to make sure that they come back and again and they remember you and they see you everywhere that they go so secret number four is remarket to them secret number five and this is one of those ones that a lot of people skip out on is review your adwords review them and adjust them and so what do I mean by this specifically so what you're gonna do and I do have a
video up here on how to review your adwords and i go into great depth about this in the course so i highly recommend checking out the course links up here and down below but basically what you're gonna do is you're run your product listing ads for a few months a month let's say at the beginning maybe just a month because you want to tighten it up as soon as possible you run it for a month and then you look at all the data you try to figure out which bids you should raise which bids you
should lower which campaigns you should turn off which can like what new products maybe should you add that you didn't think about previously but also what negative keywords should you add you'll look through all your search queries all the search queries that showed your ads and try to figure out hmm do I want to be showing my ad for this search query and if not ad it is a negative keyword and like I said I talk a lot more about this in the course with much more step-by-step you can probably figure out some of this
on your own but it's worth getting the course or watching some of the other videos I have to learn how to do this properly because there really is a science and an art to it because you don't always know for sure if it's gonna be maybe it's not profitable right away so maybe you spent $20 on your product listing ads and maybe you spent $50 on your product listing ads and you're not sure if you should turn it off you haven't gotten a single sale yet but there are some indicators that maybe you should continue
running it for longer such as how many pages per session are people seeing so what that means is on average how many pages when someone comes to your website using that keyword are they going to if they're only going to one or two they're probably not that interested that's probably a word that you should a keyword you should turn into a negative keyword because it's just people aren't that interested but if they're going on average two three or four maybe it's just a matter of time before that keyword becomes profitable or maybe they you know
they look up the product listing out on their phone and then they go to their desktop and they they end up purchasing it on their desktop so you're not getting credit for it even though that ad is leading to a sale so those are that's part of the art of it is you do want to look at other things than just how much money you're spending versus how much money you're making so that is secret number five and that's reviewing your product listing ads secret number six is to create text AdWords and what do I
mean by this as I talked about in the last secret you're gonna you have a list of all the different search queries that people find your ads through the ones that work really poorly you're gonna want to turn into negative keywords but the ones that work really well turn them into text ads and let me show you an example of this right here on my screen share but the the basics is you want to take up as much of that front page of Google when someone types in for instance for me blue dance pants and
that's not actually a real keyword I would go for but let's just say blue dance pants I want to have the my ad in the product listing and maybe even multiple my ads in the product listing ad and in the text and and then organic so pretty much no matter what when someone searches that keyword they're gonna end up coming to my website like they have a huge percentage chance of coming to my website so let me show you an example of that right here one example of product listing has to do quite well from
your ivory dance shorts and you see I kind of dominate this category over here and then I saw that this was doing fairly well and so I decided oh let's make a text ad right up here and on top of that I have this SEO so basically 90% of this page is me so if someone types in ivory dance shorts there's a good chance that they're gonna click on this link up here which is me this Matt Alessio actually these two they're me or one of these many product listing ads that are all for my
products so you want to try to take over as much of this page as possible and one of the ways to do that is to take good converting product listing ads and turn them into text ads all right now for secret number seven and as I was filming this I thought of a bonus one so I'm gonna share the bonus one with you right after this secret number seven but secret number seven is you can create multiples so for example using my new company performance nut butter what I would do is I obviously create one
line in the feed for performance nut butter and the title would be you know performance nut butter macadamia coconut cashew blended nut butter cool and I'd have a basic image with a white background of this product but then I can create a second product that is paleo nut butter or performance paleo nut butter or pay a performance nut butter paleo nut butter snack paleo friendly whatever as the title and then in the image it wouldn't just be this with a white background be this with a white background with a big stamp that says paleo friendly
so that when people are searching in Google they would see both products now would is that that might not be an exact example I would do for this product but hopefully that gets the ideas flowing one of the things I did with B dancewear is I didn't just have dance pants one item I had blue dance pants with a different blue dance picture yellow dance pants with a different yellow dance pants picture when someone who clicked to them it would when someone click on any of those it would go back to the same product page
but it allowed me to get more targeted traffic and it allowed me to get some different products quote-unquote out there with very specific more likely to convert if someone's looking for paleo snack and my paleo nut butter comes up it's more likely to convert than just a regular white background picture of my product because the first one has like the Paleo certified stamp and it just it has it in the name and all that kind of stuff so that's secret number seven let's do quickly a bonus secret and then I'll go back through the list
and I'll share some other tips with you about this so the bonus tip is do separate campaigns for your mobile and your desktop traffic mobile and desktop act very different and you want to have very tight control on it so I personally like to do one campaign for mobile and one campaign for desktop to different ones so that is my bonus tip let's go over the entire list one more time and then I'll share a special offer with you so here we go number one good images number two keyword rich titles number three negative keywords
and this is a must this is one of the biggest and easiest things to do that's gonna make a huge difference with your product listing ads number four remark it remarked it to the people retarget them show them different display ads but remarketing is one of the best ROI as you can do and it you can also do it with Google Display Network and the Facebook Ads those are two of the more powerful ones that you can do number 5 is review and adjust review your product listing ads adjust them and as I said I
do have a course that goes into depth about this number 6 create your winners create the winning search queries and create text ads out of them number 7 you can make multiples of the same product for really like niche down targeting to get specific keywords for your to get your product to show up for specific keywords and then my bonus tip mobile do separate mobile and desktop campaigns so that was a lot of secrets but that's just the tip of the iceberg if you're really interested in taking it seriously I do have my course I
