How I Got Accepted Into ALL 3 Universities for the GKS Scholarship (My Step-by-Step Guide)

hey guys it's your girl Nancy and welcome to nany's Universe this no long introduction this video is just basically going to be me talking about things that I did um and how I structured my applications um that made me by God's grace that um got me accepted by all three universities that I applied to um um there were things that I personally looked out out for that I looked for on the internet that I couldn't find and there were other things that you know people some of my friends who already made it um helped me

with so I'm going to be pouring that out and hopefully maybe if I have enough time I'll try as much as possible not to make this video long but you know what let's get into the video so right now I have the um application checklist pulled out what I did was I splitted my documents into two for was the very important ones these very important ones I feel like you should have gotten them or you should get them by the end of January these are in fact for you to even start your application you need

these documents the documents that I feel like you should have your bachelor's degree certificate your transcript your English proficiency you want to have your international passport down packed already I know just put it down down I know it's not it's not on the list it says optional but you need it when you go to the Foreign Affairs so have that um your the parents proof of citizenship um I'm going to explain what I how what I submitted I submitted my mom's name her national identity identification number so I I submitted that and then I submitted

my dad's vet certificate cuz my dad is late that's what I S next important is your personal statement your study plan your letter of recommendation your topic if you have your Awards and certificates all of these are things that you know you can arrange later on but the most most important ones are the ones I um explained first okay authentication at m o e Ministry of Education Abuja you want to go there with your degree certificate your transcript your y cuz I that's what I did and then um you take there for authentication one thing

that you can get from the Ministry of Education that I feel like people don't know I don't know why people don't know it but like you can get an English proficiency certificate from Ministry of educ um education I think I paid 800 n or 1,000 I can't remember but um I was given um an English proficiency certificate and I was given another certificate that states that I was eligible to study outside Nigeria for a higher degree yeah you can get that so moving on for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs right you want to go there

with your your parents proof of citizenship your birth certificate your degree that you already authenticated your y authenticated your transcripts and your affidavit I did an affidavit in a court you can do this in any Court I did an affidavit in a court that states that all these documents are mine right it wasn't needed later when I got to the Embassy but I did that just in case cuz me I was just getting overprepared for it and I also another thing that I did was I got a letter from my H that states that that

that stated that um I was a student of the department um from un Abuja and I graduated from that school from that department in that year so yeah when you want to start this application right all these documents that I have listed you want to go to a cyber cafe if you again I did not go through the University track so I can't say that I'm going to just say what I did for embassy track right for what you want to do is before you go to these Ministries to authenticate in Abuja you want to

have one photocopy if you're going to go through Embassy route this is what I'm saying you have to have one photocopy what I did was I made colored photocopies I know a lot of people say oh it's not that important it's not that important I just feel like colored looks like an original so every photocopy I made was colored so let's let's say this is your this is your degree certificate that you the original that you collected from your University you are going to photocopy it and you're going to take that photocopy huh so that

means you have one photocopy of your degree one photocopy of your y one photocopy of your transcript one photocopy of your parents you're going to photocopy your parents proof of citizenship one each of it I don't know which one you're going to take you're going to take your father your mother you're going to photocopy each each one one you're going to photocopy your a I also photocopied my bir certificate and because how they are going to authenticate it is they will authenticate the original and authenticate the photo copy they have to see because you can't

give your original documents right so they have to see the original to authenticate the photocopy right and then you will not take now another thing that I didn't know but I found out and it kind of it was God just did his Miracle but from the ministry of um Foreign Affairs I don't know how to authenticate there what I did was I just give somebody money cuz again I was late cuz yuja showed me premium she I didn't get my transcript on time but that's by the point what um I didn't I didn't go into

the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to authenticate um I didn't do that so I gave somebody money when you go there you people ask oh you want to at the gates if you want to do that way don't just give any random person make sure it's someone that works there with a so I think I gave I basically gave like 1,5 for each document so in less than an hour my document was out authenticated moving on another thing that I didn't know that I had to do was getting a certificate of true copy which was another

which was the reason why I had gone to get the affidavit um because I I thought an affidavit would stand but if you're going to legalize in at the embassy in Abuja you would need to go to the federal High Court not the federal high court that is opposite Millennium Park there's a federal high court that is close to Secretariat that is opposite the Millennium Park Millennium Park not that one um the federal high court that is at I don't know if it's I keep missing it I don't know if it's Wu or Mama but

that Court the one opposite the one that directly opposite NYSC you will go there you will tell them I will put a screenshot of how the stamp looks like you will tell them that you want a certificate of true copy I think it's like 500 n when I did I don't know how much now um so what you're going to do is all the photocopies that you made not the original all the photocopies that you took to this to these Ministries to Ministry of Education Ministry of Foreign Affairs that they have authenticated you will take

these same um these same uh photocopies to the federal High courts and they will stamp it with a certificate of true copy which means that this can act as the original what I took there was parents proof of citizenship birth certificate degree certificate W transcript affidavit and my letter from my H so those are what I took um to the high court to stamp the photocopies right they have all been now we have authenticated all from all Ministries we have gotten our certificate of um true copy um another document that I added was when I

was going to the Embassy was the data page of my international passport I added that I to also took the remitter receipt I took that as well um I took my proficiency I added it it wasn't needed in the embassy sh but I added it so I took it to the Embassy you want to book an appointment um via email Korean legalization yahoo.com you want to you tell them you want to book an appointment they will give you a day and a time and you take your documents there I don't know I think I said

it was it was going to be 6,000 n then I don't know how much it is now and then you go and you put it there and it takes how long it to take to get out right so that is um for the document so moving on personal statements this is how I structured my personal statements the personal statement from their instructions that are listed there please type in Korean English there space between three pages with the font I cannot tell how many time I went to check the font if it was in the new

Roman that I was typing size 11 you see for your personal statement there are six instructions what you you should write on right this was how I structured my personal statement from my motivation you want to start strong you want to start strong I'm going to insert my first paragraph So you see what I'm saying you want to start strong you want to start with something that grabs whoever is going to read it you don't know if you're going to be the first person you don't know if they're going to be excited when they see

your documents you don't know if they're going to be tired you don't know if you're the last person you don't know if they are pissed off so you need something that would catch their attention to make them want to read the next thing the next paragraph right so another thing that I thought about when writing my motivation was to know my why personally I feel like if you know your why your personal statement would go smoothly if you know your why your that first paragraph should have your why I can't say this enough like know

your why it's not just because like you want to come to Korea you want to come and study know why why why why do you think Korea is a place to study aside from even knowing why Korea is a place to study why are you interested in the course that you want to study what made you think oh I want to study this course now and Korea is the best place for me to study it what is the goal you are trying to achieve by studying this course and also the goal you're trying to achieve

by studying this course in South Korea motivation right know your why know your goal start strong motivation which you apply for this program for educational um background I I know a lot of us would like to talk about like oh we have this struggling educational background we struggle and it's fine but don't don't dwell on that too much don't dwell on that too much talk about it say it but don't build too much on it um I've seen a lot of personal remember people want to say educational background and then they drag how they struggled

you are dragging it I get bored easily so I judge myself like that I critique myself based on how I am as a human being I get bought very fast so things you keep it moving so say it but don't don't stretch it talk about how though it was challenging you push through it talk about how you push through it for me um I had lost my dad I had lost one year in high school so I graduated in 2010 and after I graduated in 2010 um there was no funds to um go back to

school and so I stayed back at home after high school for seven years straight and then went back to University in 2017 and I also talked about how so I I didn't necessarily build on the struggle and stuff I just talk about how from 2017 I knew that I had to hustle to work to you know to school so I was working and I was schooling at the same time and even though it was challenging working and schooling helped me to learn about like time management leadership all of all those stuff like what is the

positive thing that came about the challenge put it inside it just gives them that that oh this person is resilient cuz I was running a business I was running a dance company while I was studying and so that is how I still navigated my way into like significant experiences that I have so you see you have to kind of like make it connect somehow right make it connect so I kind of like from there I talked about how even though I didn't have time because I was working and I was schooling I still had time

to join the UNESCO Club in my University because I wanted to do this I think I should read my personal statement out but that will be another video cuz I feel like this is getting to long and I'm talking so fast so that the time does not go but let's move on so I spoke about that and I spoke about how I had um so you know because I said I was working in schooling I had to tell them what the job was so I told them about like how I was a social media strategist

how I was an entertainment operation manager how I was running the dance company and then kind of like navigated my way from having a dance company into significant experiences that I had how through the through being a creative I was able to work with so and so so and so this Embassy this Embassy the Korean Cultural Center how I got to teach the ambassador's wife how I won K-pop Dance Competition twice like I just kind of like navigated it and then now the next thing says person or event that had a signicant influence on you

I can't remember should we pull that up let's pull that up and see what I wrote on that cuz I have my personal literally written here so that question this was how I answered it um CH how I answered it was in this chapter of my journey the prator event that shaped my resp responsibility and Life Choices was the untimely personing of my father and so I wrote on that so you have to have look at those whatever they ask you to like the things that you should write on and have like a line and

then build on it if that makes sense so for the significance I wrote about like my job experiences um my voluntary Services how I have worked with people da d da and then I came back to build on how my father's um death ear death was a significant influence on me and how it made me an um an independent woman now if applicable describe Awards you have received I all of this if applicable I put it in the significant experiences that I have had okay I didn't write it on that other one I put it

there so even the others EG extracurricular activities commun service they wearing the signant significant significant experiences that I have had so yeah moving on so for my study plan this was how I structured my study plan right so they will tell you this is what you should write for your study plan there are three instructions that you need to fill out so you have your language study plan um study plans theyve improve Korean SL English language ability required um for taking a degree course before and after you come to Career goal of study and study

plan future plan after okay so what I did I wrote language plan slash study plan and then I wrote before my arrival for the oneye Korean language training program and then I wrote things that I've been doing to learn Korean um how I have been taking classes how I have taken topic I I took topic one not that I'm here I just feel like saying that is just very useless because it doesn't mean anything um how I was you know um in the app called hello talk like stuff like that what I have done before

in um what I how I have in what I have invested in learning Korean before um I even arrive Korea for my one year and then I wrote during after I had done that I wrote during the oneyear language program this is what I'm going to be doing to help me out um to study the language which is hectic right now it's a lot okay and then I wrote after completion of the onee Korean language program I wrote on it um I wrote I am fully aware that one cannot be fluent in a new language

within a year and with my intentions to not only become fluent in topics related I think I would read that separately so yeah I wrote on that as well and then after finishing that so in my before my arrival um for my study plan I had three subtopics I had before my arrival for one year during the one year after the one year and then I moved on to build on my go study so for my go study for my goal of study and study plan I wrote my goal of study what my goal of

study was centered on um what my interests are um and what I think learning that will help me out and then I went on to say while joining the program this is how I feel and then I wrote on after saying that I wrote like just two lines I be three two and a half lines while joining the program and then I wrote two and a half lines and then I went on to explain why I wanted to study in the three universities that I was applying to so after saying while joining the program three

lines I wrote this school this is where I want to join this school this is where I want to go this is what I saw that got to me this school this is what I want to see this is why you know this I wrote on them the three of them and then I went down still in my goal of study I went down and I wrote plan after study now plan after study I sped it into two categories I had my short-term goals and I had my long-term goals right and then I wrote that

and then I concluded and that was it that was it could um for additional documents that you want to give them let's go back to the form Awards another certificates um you want to put so so here's the thing um there were a lot of things that I did that did not have awards that didn't have certificates like for example I had won kop twice there was literally no award for it but there were emails ladies and gentlemen yeah I took screenshot of the emails um also we had gone to see the director then and

we had taken pictures so that one thing that I was very intentional with was anytime I go to a place that um has that was of significance and I know that I was not going to get a certificate or anything that would show that I was there I always took pictures with the top of the top yes I took pictures with the top of the top for example I had worked with um K car I took pictures with the director I had worked with the Indian Embassy I took pictures to help I worked with um

the Philippines Embassy twice I took pictures while in fact while they were giving me what they were giving me I took pictures so and then certificates also as well um I had certificates from I had attended programs like K Beauty teaching uh K beauty class that I think it was 3 days I added it um I had done courses on Cera relating to my course relating to scorea I had done it I had gotten certificate from the Korean classes um that I took at the Korean Cultural Center um at other dates um I think the

Korean C Center stopped taking classes when I was in class two and then I took sge 3 online I took the certificate I added it um mind you the pictures that I had I yeah I scanned the pictures so let me tell you guys what I did so on a plain sheet I scanned the pictures and wrote what it was and I wrote yes I added pictures and wrote I was not going to take any chances and then I wrote pictures that's how I submitted all those other documents when I did um when I had

the opportunity of working with um what's it called down the Korean Embassy the Korean ambassador's wife where she had brought in um other diplom diploma wives and all of that I I took pictures that I was taking the class and I put it there like anything that was relating to my course cuz I was working alongside with the course that I want to go for which was international relations so if I know that I was not going to get anything handful a certificate or something that I can say that yes I went there I will

take picture with the top of the top when we went to um Korean national day I took picture with I took pictures with the Korean Ambassador like these cuz even if you're going to say that in even if you're going to say all of this things in your personal statement where are the evidences so yes the pictures I added in fact I added it's not here but I added it I wrote pictures so that they would know and I added it to where I put award certificates right um what other thing is there that yeah

uh yeah if you have done excuse me if you have done um H Creator put it in fact I put my H Creator best Creator I think I got like certificate I put it there the certificate of um appointments h i put it there K influencer I got it two years I put the the documents there I put the honorary reporter so just put it now this this made sense to me because I was applying for international relations right if you are applying for something else make sure you have documents to prove that you have

been working you have not been idle please put things there to show that you have it's better to be prepared and get it one time than to not be prepared and just keep wasting money CU let me tell you it's not cheap it is not cheap moving on let's talk about recommendation letter so a lot of question that I see is oh who can write my recommendation letter I would advise that you get someone um from the within the educational system writes it for you and if it is possible to also have a letter headed

recommendation letter what I did was um I got a professor who also doubles as the UNESCO chairman for un abucha Branch um to write my letter so when he wrote it he didn't write too much you guys he didn't write too much when he had written it and he had called me to say I was like ah this is not it's not it's not looking like a serious something s do you think that we need to add a little now the only thing that I added to this was that I said that I I want

him to add was Nancy is a huge cultural Enthusiast and her strong desire to immerse herself in a cultural on in different cultural environments is commendable that was the only line that I told him I wanted to add every other thing was what he had written and I feel like that was because he had known like even when he was my professor um CU I studied history of Nigeria under him um I had always spoken about how I like how how much I love Asia and how much I love Korea and I had even told

him one time that I was going to bring Kap for him if I meet kimab I was going to unfortunately I didn't give that man Kap before I left but so he had an idea that I actually this was something that I wanted to do right so this was my um recommendation letter that he wrote for me now let me explain how you package your recommendation letter and whoever is writing your recommendation letter write on the letter headed um recommendation letter tell them not to sign it yet so when if you if you see this

this one you can see that there's no signature on it yet but his his details are there he just didn't sign it I told him don't sign it sir so I had gone there I had collected that so just like this he printed one for me he printed one I took that one to the photo to the cyber cafe and I photocopied it without the signature IO again I photocopied it in colored and I photocopied in five and then I took which sorry I photocopied four and then I took which plus the original that he

printed out and gave to me made it five and then I bought five different envelopes right and then I brought five different envelopes and I took it to him mind you I had already printed out that form five as well I had written my name I had written the program I was applying for which is the Master's Degree I WR I I wrote my uh inent major um as well as um the other I deleted the section two because that was that was the part that was supposed to be written um in but now I

have a letter headed letter already so I deleted what my nails coming off so I deleted that um section two what my form five had was that section one to be completed by applicants and then I wrote my recommender name I wrote Affiliated institution I wrote his position I wrote his email and I wrote his phone number there and then I printed this form five out so now I have how many papers I have six papers I have this form five I have the one original U recommendation letter and then I have for four photo

cop that I have and then I took them back to him so he signed on all of it both the original and the photo copy right so now I folded the original I folded the original and the form five together and I put them in one envelope and then let me explain do I have an envelope here so let's say this is an envelope right you know the envelope that has like the flap right so let's say this is the envelope this is the I wrote original I wrote original I don't know if you guys

can see I wrote original and then I put the from five and the original that he printed out that he had just signed I put it inside and then when I folded it cuz there was like glue on there so when I folded it and you know made it stick he signed this is the envelope he signed this way he signed across it this way so if I opened it it was going to be so so he signed across it and he did it on all the four photocopies so I would fold one photocopy and

put in an envelope and I would write photocopy one and I would fold and he would sign I would put and I write photocopy two and then I would fold and he will sign and I will write just like that and that's how I I put that together so I P that so I had five envelopes with me that they were all signed at the flap right so the reason why I wrote the original was so that they knew that the form five was in the envelope with the original make sense moving on one mistake

that I would not want you guys to make is this you see all these documents that require signature okay so when you get to number nine I me when you finish number 10 which is the previously visit uh previous visit to K that's the first that's the first time that they ask you to give your signature so while you fill it on your laptop put feel Al also feel your date your year month day also fill in your application's full name but you see signature do not feel do not use your laptop to do any

signature just leave it you see your personal statement fill in your applications applicant's full name date do not sign um same thing for study plan same thing um which other one same thing for okay I just explained recommendation better to you of course make sure that your recommenders your recommender signs where it says recommender signature date and everything and again not signing V and then okay no let of information is not you gkss applicants agreement there's a signature for you to sign there date put it in your laptop applicant's full name put it in your

laptop signature do not sign yet same thing as personal medical statement fill it up do not sign but fill up the applicant's fullone name date and all of that um consent to collect and use yep fill that up fill the date for the applicant's full name but do not sign when you print all these documents out you want to use byro please do not use black they turned down someone at the embassy for using black on the signature so because it now look like don't don't in fact for no don't excuse at all use a

blue pen everywhere you see signature do not copy your signature scan it and then m- sign with pen and like your brro blue pen sign moving on
