you only need four ingredients not counting water salt and toppings and less than 15 minutes to make the best holiday keto candy ever [Music] this keto toffee recipe is the perfect combination of buttery sweet and salty and since it's easy to make and it keeps for a long time you can always have some on hand so when those holiday Cravings hit so let's get to cooking so I can show you how easy this is to make we start with our first two ingredients one cup of unsalted butter and one cup of packed sugar-free Brown sweetener
and I'm going to use the brand swerve for this recipe now I tried making this toffee with just regular granulated white sugar-free sweetener and it tasted good but it didn't have that classic caramel toffee color so that's why you want to use Brown sugar-free sweetener then add in two tablespoons of water and a half a teaspoon of salt and you want to heat this in the saucepan over medium heat and bring it to a boil and we're going to let this cook until it reaches 300 degrees on a thermometer how'd that get in there at
300 degrees this is technically the hard crack stage for candy making although we're using a sugar-free sweetener and I noticed after testing this recipe several times that it was never truly at that Hard crack stage it was more medium crack I mean it could have been because I had too much butter but I love the flavor so you're just gonna have to learn to love medium cracked toffee and make sure you stir this often this is going to help get some of that moisture released and you've really got to use one of these guys or
some sort of thermometer in order to tell when it reaches 300 degrees and it's ready to pull off of your stove top all those other tricks like putting a ball of it into the water didn't really work for me it just kind of dissolved it's probably because I'm using sugar-free sweetener so you gotta invest in one of these while we wait for our toffee to reach 300 degrees I'm gonna make up some hot cocoa to go with my toffee but this cocoa is going to have something special in it I'm going to add in some
electrolytes to help keep me hydrated this winter I find myself drinking less water over the winter months so that's where element electrolytes comes in and helps save the day and I'm super excited to partner with element because they came out with new flavors for this holiday season they have chocolate caramel mint chocolate and of course they're chocolate Salt I can easily make a keto peppermint mocha using their mint chocolate flavor just pour in some coffee okay so this isn't really a plain hot chocolate of course I'm adding coffee into it coffee goes with everything and
a splash of heavy cream and a packet of element mint chocolate I don't even miss Starbucks box this element chocolate medley is available for a limited time only while supplies last and of course you can get a free sample pack with any element order that's eight single serving packets free with any element order you just have to get yours at drinkelement.com ketofocus all right we're at 300 degrees and now you have to work fast because once you take it off the heat it's going to cool and Harden fast add in a teaspoon of vanilla extract
and then we're going to pour this bark into a baking tray I have a quarter baking sheet here that I've sprayed with oil and then topped with parchment paper pour your toffee mixture and spread it evenly and then we're going to let this cool the room temperature for several minutes you're going to start to see some parts of your toffee turn opaque this is where it's starting to set once this completely gets opaque then you can add your chocolate chips you don't want to add it before them because they're just going to sink down to
the bottom and that chocolate's going to melt into your toffee we really want two layers toffee and chocolate and I'm going to use a whole seven ounce bag of chocolate because why not then we're going to cover this with aluminum foil and this is going to help create a little oven to help our chocolate melt do you want to let it sit there for around four to five minutes if you find that your chocolate hasn't melted after that time and it needs some help just put it in the oven under the broiler for 30 seconds
60 seconds so that chocolate can melt then take your favorite Christmas spatula and spread melted chocolate all over I like to top it with some flaky sea salt and some chopped pecans and then you'll refrigerate this for one to two hours now that our toffee and chocolate are set you can break it into chunks and this toffee is perfection and it actually makes the best Christmas gift for your friends and family if you're ready to turn some of your favorite Christmas cookies and candies into keto versions like I did with this keto toffee well then
