I'm going to do all I can here to make sure she's okay. Can you do fine? >> At first, I was taken aback by Henry's giving such an extreme discount.
>> And I'll have somebody out here tomorrow. >> Thought about it and I realized Henry works on commission, so he was taking money out of his own pocket. >> In this video, we've compiled the best Undercover Boss employees ever.
Without further ado, let's get started. Number one, Henry from Rotorooer. >> What was your problem?
>> The sew was running out of the drain of the day after, >> right? And everything was going underneath your house. Yeah.
>> Okay. >> Okay. Now the bathroom is coming from that way.
Take this light. >> Come on now. >> I got like a old man.
>> Broken art. >> Rotorooer president and CEO Rick Archila wanted to experience what working for his company was like for his employees. He also wanted to find out what he could do to improve how his plumbing company operates.

They did their assessment and gave their cost estimate to the customer. However, they found out she didn't have enough money to pay for the job. What happens next?
Both shocked and impressed Rick. >> So, what cost? >> This is about $1,200 job.
Okay. >> I've been running to the doctor all over. >> You got testers and stuff like that.
I tell you what. Okay. Uh, I'm going to do all I can here to make sure she's okay.
Can you do fine? >> At first, I was taken aback by Henry's giving such an extreme discount >> and I have somebody here tomorrow. >> Thought about it and I realized Henry works on commission, so he was taking money out of his own pocket.
>> Later during the day he spent with Henry, Rick learned that he's a basketball coach for local children. Henry and his wife personally picked each child up at their homes, brought them to practice, then took them back home after practice. Rick was amazed by how selfless Henry was, saying, "I watched Henry give and give and give all day.
" When it came time for the big reveal, Rick commended Henry and gave him something that would help him continue the good deeds he does on a daily basis. >> I'm not happy about the way you and your wife have to go back and forth and and find transportation for those kids. The company's going to give you a 15 person van to take all those kids to practice.
>> Oh man. The van Rick provided Henry would also be a huge help to him. But the benefits didn't stop there.
Rick noted that Henry was so generous, but he should also think about his own well-being from time to time. He rewarded Henry by giving him something that directly benefited him. >> Let's talk about Henry for a second.
How about >> It's all right. >> How about How about a promotion? Going to make you field supervisor, first level manager, and Rotorooer.
Going to give you a raise. >> Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. >> Thank you. Number two, Marquez from Philly Pretzel Factory.
>> Today I'm at one of our real success stories. So, I want to take some information of what they're doing here and we can replicate that in the Bridton, New Jersey store. >> Hey, how you doing, man?
>> I'm Michael. How you doing? This what time you start every day?
>> Every day. >> Seems like Michael has a little wild side noticing his haircut and everything like that. So, we'll see.
Ready to make some pretzels, man? >> Yeah. >> One particular branch of Philly Pretzel Factory was more successful than others.
So, the company's CEO, Dan Dizzio, went undercover as a trainee at the restaurant in order to learn what they were doing differently and emulate it in other stores. He underwent training under the branch's assistant manager, Marquez. During his training, Dan was witnessed to how Marquez ran the restaurant like a welloiled machine.
>> Okay, we're going to start making the dough. So, just get that bag open. Okay, so now the only thing that we need for this is yeast.
And the timer is already set for 9 minutes. And then we just push on. You can get it to dance a little bit like this.
You just try to spin it around two times. Just get it around twice. It's 5:30 now.
So, we have to get this twisting done. >> Do you get paid for pretzel twist? >> That would be good.
Are these good enough? Can I put them up? >> As his training continued, Dan got to know Marquez personally and met his family who passed by the shop.
>> Sierra, here's your pretzels. >> Bye, girls. That's why I do it, man.
>> The way he's such an inspiration to his children um reminds me of myself. >> Dan was amazed at how great Marquez was at his job. He was also inspired upon seeing Marquez's relationship with his family and the reason he worked so hard to the best of his abilities.
When it came time to reveal who he was to Marquez, Stan rewarded him for his efforts. He also made sure that Marquez and his family were taken care of in a way that's fitting for an employee of his caliber. >> Want to put a college fund together and put $2,500 in each one of your kids' names.
I can't lose guys like you. We'll make sure you get medical benefit. I'm going to put up all the money and open up a business together that I want us to be 50/50 partners.
>> Number three, Angel from Modell Sporting Goods. >> Hi. Are you the contestant?
>> Contestant. >> Hi. Nice to meet you.
I'm Angel. >> I'm working with you today. >> Yes, you are working with me today.
How's it sound? >> Let's do it. >> All right.
Great. What I really want you to focus on today, Joey, is customer service, cuz that's the basis of everything that we do here. >> My first impression of Angel is I'm blown away.
the understanding how important customer service is and it's great to see a CEO of things that I totally believe in is being filtered down at store level. >> Modell Sporting Goods CEO Mitchell Modell went undercover at one of his stores during the first episode of the show's fourth season. This is where he met Angel, a sales associate who took him under her wing and showed him what he needed to know.
Angel emphasized the importance of customer service and was patient with Mitchell despite some struggles on his end to do some elements of the job. >> All right, go ahead and grab that. We have some backpacks that are on sale.
I'm going to have you put signs on those. Okay. Are you scared of heights?
>> Yep. >> I hope not. >> The hardest is getting up on that freaking lad.
>> Oh my god. >> Part of Mitchell's cover story was that he used to own a pizza business that had to close down, which is why he is now working at Modell's. When they had a private moment to talk, Angel empathized with Mitchell and offered him encouragement.
Sometimes you may have ups and some sometimes you may have downs, but as long as you drive yourself, you're going to be fine. Just keep it going. Myself, I love this job.
This is very good. But it hasn't always been this way. >> Through his conversation, Mitchell learned something important about Angel.
>> When I turned 25, I end up being pregnant and I was a manager at a restaurant. Then I got too far along. I couldn't work there anymore.
And ever since then, it's just like times have been really, really rough. It's, you know, we've been homeless for a long time. We live in a shelter now.
doesn't live in a live in a shelter. >> It's a homeless shelter. Been there for about like 2 years.
>> Angel continued to tell Mitchell how hard it was for her and her family in the past. She told him that there were days when they had to sleep at bus stops and didn't have enough food to eat, but she didn't want him to feel sorry for her. She offered him words of encouragement that things always get better, even in the worst situations.
>> It literally broke my heart. I'm the one who decides how much our associates are paid. And to think that one of our associates is homeless makes me sick.
Listen to what you said. People like Angel deserve better. And I know this company and myself can do better.
>> During the big reveal, Mitchell had nothing but praise for Angel. He was very impressed by what he saw from her and wanted to reward her. >> Here you are, a department manager in apparel.
Teach me and show me every inch of the way. You were just amazing. >> I just hope that I'm doing good for you.
>> It was above and beyond anything I could ever expected from an associate. But your talent level and the way you care about the company, you're the kind of leaders that we want in our company and that's why I'm promoting you to assistant manager. What >> along with the promotion, Mitchell wanted to make sure that Angel's quality of life was improved.
>> I think about that homeless shelter >> where you go home every night since I left you. It kills me to see that you're still a check for you >> because I want you to move out of there immediately like tonight. What?
No, you cannot be serious. >> Number four, Howard from Hersian Family Entertainment. Now, >> this is a duck.
This is an amphibious machine used in World War II. >> John, >> he's going to be on our staff here. >> This is your place.
You're going to drive this duck. You're going to talk to people and it's all about jokes and having fun. Unlike the normal tours that you would go on, I want to see really how you interact with the kids.
>> Follow my lead and you'll see how I do Joel Manbyi, the president and CEO of Hersian Family Entertainment, went undercover in season 1, episode 7 of the show. He wanted to see what it was like working at one of his company's theme parks. Joel underwent training for his new job under Captain Howard, who operated the Ride the Ducks boat ride in Stone Mountain Park, Georgia.
>> May I have your ticket, please? >> What's your name? >> Colette.
>> Colette. >> Everybody gets a cracker. >> This is where you're going to get a chance to see what I do.
>> All right, folks. little fella coming through. >> From the moment Howard introduced the job to Joel, it was clear that he thoroughly enjoyed what he did.
He prioritized enjoyment of those going on his ride. He was jolly and didn't hesitate to make himself look silly as long as it meant that the kids were having fun. The duck boat ride generated about 5% of the park's revenue.
And after spending a day working with Howard, it became clear to Joel that the boat's captain was the reason for the attraction's popularity. >> Please put your hands in the air, guys. Yeah.
>> All right. Go, Captain. Go.
>> Howard was just a blast. Such a rare talent. I mean, he is really into what he does.
>> That's right. >> Have a seat to go. You're driving.
You're in control. Go catch and go. >> He kind of becomes a kid.
>> At the big reveal, Joel commended Howard for the great work he does. Howard continued to impress Joel by expressing why the job was important to him. Joel then offered Howard an opportunity to influence how ride operators in other parks did their jobs.
You in some senses became a kid. >> For me, this this is an opportunity to touch somebody else's life, to wake somebody up, to get somebody going and and hope they hopefully they'll have a good day. >> Can we take some of that magic and and put it at other other ride the duck locations?
I'd like to see you be able to go there, help teach them some of what you have. >> I would love to do that. Really appreciate that.
Wow. This is this is like what? Number five, Jen from Belffor.
>> How you doing? >> Yeah. Hi, I'm Tom.
How are you? >> Good. So, we have a water damage.
Because this water damage just happened, we're not in a mold. Mold will start to grow after 72 hours. Now, the next step is going into the crawl space.
>> What's that? >> Your mask is upside down. >> All right.
>> You got to be kidding me. >> Sheldon Yellen is the CEO of Belffor, a global disaster cleanup company. He went undercover as an employee of his company because he wanted to know what the job was like for his workers.
He was assigned to work with Jen, a water technician. Jen guided Sheldon through some hands-on training at a water- damaged house. Jen patiently showed Sheldon what he needed to know in order to do the job properly.
When it was time to get down and dirty and crawl into the house's crawl space, Sheldon realized that he may have bitten off more than he can chew. >> It's low, so you have to stay as low as you can. This is a tight crawl space.
It is so tight down there, you can't lift your head. That is not a comfortable feeling being down there. >> That's all soaking wet.
The insulation that's wet underneath the house will allow for mold to grow. >> Oh my god. This is what I'm doing.
Your whole world is closed in on you. It's not a comfortable feeling. >> After that stressful and claustrophobic experience, Sheldon gained more of an appreciation for just how hard every day is for his employees that are providing relief for those who need it.
When they had an opportunity to take a break, Sheldon asked Jen about her job. Not realizing who she was talking to, Jen complained about some injustices that she's gone through on the job. >> This one's obviously actually kind of easy compared to ones that I >> You must get paid okay to do this or you wouldn't be doing >> How do I answer that?
When I came to Galore, I was hired as a cleaner. I got hired in at a certain salary for that job. I got a promotion to be a water tech.
A promotion. You should be getting a raise. I'm still waiting for that raise.
And that was almost a year ago. If corporate says there's a raise freeze, nobody gets a raise. >> Jane was promoted and consequently given more work and responsibility.
Despite this though, she wasn't given a pay raise that should come with such a promotion. However, despite not getting paid properly, she still continued to do her job to the best of her abilities. Sheldon was touched by Jane's dedication to the job.
Even if she wasn't working under the best circumstances, he couldn't hold back his emotions and decided to reveal his true identity right then. My name is Sheldon Yellen. I'm the CEO of Belffor and I've been working undercover and Jen, you're getting that raise that you want.
Thank you for representing us the way you do. >> Oh my god. >> I don't regret it for one minute.
This was a life-changing experience here today. >> Later, Sheldon met with Jen. He told her that he intended to make changes to ensure that the employees voices would be heard.
He also told her that she would be fully compensated and rewarded for the good work that she has done. And from the date of your promotion, I am going to give you that back pay retroactive for all of the hours that you've worked since February to this day to get you current. >> Wow.
>> I heard you so clearly. I would like to additionally give you a $15,000 bonus check and hope that that will help. >> But never in a million years did I ever think anybody take the time to sit down with me and just to even just tell me that you see it.
