times before already and there's a very good reason for that Japan is well known for its incredibly respectful and polite population but when the going gets tough and True Crime happens every case seems to be a little batshit crazy our story today takes us to the heart of Japan Tokyo this Mega city is home to more than 10% of Japan's population with 38 million people residing within its own Urban boundaries interesting fact here but Tokyo is the world's largest city and it holds this title by more than 5 million people so I wouldn't expect that to change anytime soon unless Delhi has something to say about that as you can guess this makes for an extremely dense population with hundreds of skyscrapers filled to the brim with compact Apartments to cater for this extremely high demand and with many people moving to the city for work and commuting into the central districts daily the streets are often overcrowded and more notably the trains and although Tokyo has one of the most extensive and efficient Metro systems in the world they do still suffer from massive overcrowding during peak times but hey working for a Japanese business is a significant part of day-to-day life here and furthermore all Japanese people take it extremely seriously people often work an ungodly number of hours into the night here to keep their boss happy and this 60h hour per week work life balance often leads to mental health issues that could lead to stroke heart attack and even taking your own life in fact this situation is so common that the Japanese have created a term for this cause of death which is known as kosi that's not the only challenge that Japan's Society recognizes either they also have a vastly aging population with far fewer babies born than in previous decades I mean just look at this population tree now there are several contributing factors here you see the Japanese have always had a very traditional view of marriage with the family wife staying at home to look after the children while the husband goes on long days of work to support the family financially but much like the rest of the world culture in Japan is forever shifting and women are becoming more career-driven which is great by the way but it's causing some rather strange societal changes many young people are now opting to move into the cities causing an accommodation crisis in urban areas meanwhile rural areas are becoming ghost towns there also seems to be a huge drop off in pregnancies and childb births which is rather concerning strangely enough when I traveled to Japan in 2019 I saw many stores that I thought were for babies they had many things like prams clothing and outfits that sort of cute stuff but after a closer look I realized they were actually for dogs and puppies instead which I thought was kind of strange now you may be wondering why I'm rambling about Japan here but I promise that both of these things are very important for today's case many of the cases that are cover from this country tend to stem from a lack of love work or fulfillment often leaving people feeling like a failure and while the main man of our story today did have a relatively Shinjuku and chibuya and it's on this bustling line on this very busy evening at around 8:00 p.

m. of Halloween that a terrifying situation broke out on the slow train towards Shinjuku you see being Halloween it's not uncommon to see those in costume while riding the city's many trains but our Focus today is on one person in particular a man cosplaying as what can only be described as the Joker from the Batman Universe wearing a dark purple suit and a green shirt he decided to foro the makeup this time but at 8:00 p. m.

that evening while the train was mostly full of cusers and partygoers things would take a dramatic turn after casually sitting on the train the purple suited man sprung out of his seat and after pulling out a bottle of pesticide from his pocket he sprayed the old man sitting beside him in the face and amongst the screams the Tokyo jok revealed a large knife from his jacket after plunging the knife into the man's chest he turned his attention to the rest of the Train the incident happened so fast that the other passengers had no time to process what they were witnessing with some even believing it might just be a Halloween stunt but after the so-called Tokyo Joker started waving the knife around they realized that this was indeed no prank passengers began to flee but a few seconds later the Joker sprinted along the train to the next car filled with passengers standing in front of his new audience the man then took out a plastic bottle and began to pour liquid all over the carriage with some getting on passengers and the smell of the fluid was immediately recognizable lighter fluid passengers swiftly evacuated the carriage and ran down the train length to escape the deranged man and thankfully most of them made it out of that Carriage before the Joker pulled out a match and you can tell exactly where this is going he then lited the carriage of Blaze with his new self-made chaos igniting around himself thankfully the train was in the right location to make an emergency stop just after the fire broke out and those in the carriages could clamber out of any open window to safety The Joker allegedly orchestrated all of this without showing any emotion whatsoever and Witnesses claim that his face was dead panned the entire time without showing any signs of anger luckily most passengers could escape the train While others barricaded the man to a single Carriage where much like the rest of his attack he seemed to accept emotionlessly in fact after finding himself alone in the carriage he calmly lit a cigarette and then sat down on one of the chairs very obviously accepting his fate Emergency Services were contacted with the police ambulance and fire Services responding within a matter of minutes and thankfully both the salent and the fire were apprehended due to the sheer number of people who witnessed this event the news spread like wildfire with media swarming to the station and I think every everybody had the same questions here how many people were hurt who was this craz killer what was his motive and why on Earth was he dressed as the Joker the so-called Tokyo Joker was quickly identified as 24-year-old kyota hatori and soon after his name was released to the public rumors about kyota promptly began to spread these rumors included his family allegedly abandoning him when he was a child that he grew up in an orphanage and even that his father was part of the Yakuza however through my research most of these claims were simply rumors and nothing else in fact CA had actually grown up in Fukuoka a large town on the southwestern island of kushu his mother and father were in the picture and at least to begin with he had a relatively normal and peaceful upbringing sadly though when he was just a child his parents would divorce and so Kota ended up living with his mother and younger sister in an apartment just outside of the city while here their neighbors even described Kota as a good kid who behaved himself and never got into trouble in fact they were rather surprised when they learned that he was responsible for the kooline train fire although the rumors say otherwise Kota remained a quiet yet normal kid and graduated Elementary and high school with average grades though he would later claim that he didn't have many friends while at school koto's main interests were quite typical for a teenager including video games manga anime and American comic books which became quite evident through his chosen outfit following high school he carried on living with his mother and eventually secured a job at a manga and Comic Cafe where his interests clearly came in handy however while working there a customer accused him of voyerism which is another prevalent crime in Japan interesting side note but in Japan almost all mobile phones come with a mandatory recognizable shutter sound to stop any unsolicited images being taken we don't quite know the details but in the year 2017 he was arrested for this crime and although the charges would eventually be dropped he did opt into community service and was fired from his job however this did not stop the now 18-year-old kyota from finding his next job and after a few weeks of searching he started his new job as a sales representative for a large mobile phone company based in Fukuoka it's evident that although kyota was a rather strange character he was charismatic and displayed no relevant warning signs to colleagues and he was known around the office as an intelligent polite and always taking his job very seriously kot's love life seemed to be rather fruitful for a while too and from 2017 through to 2021 he maintained a happy relationship with his girlfriend they often posted cute pictures on social media and it was apparent that Kyoto was smitten sadly though things would begin to fall apart after 4 years together and in 2021 his relationship and career would come to an abrupt end both of these things came against his own valtion and each was seen as a tragedy in his mind it left Kyoto feeling lonely depressed and broken with the sudden collapse of his commitments Kota did not see any point in staying in fukuoku anymore as a result and likely in an effort to find himself he decided to travel the country passing through coob and ngoya before finally finding himself in Tokyo in September 2021 unfortunately Kyoto didn't find any comfort through his journey and with his mental health deteriorating he was beginning to develop some very destructive ideas now we've already covered a few cases similar to this ones where desperate people wish to cause as much pain and Devastation as possible to compensate for their own and sadly Kota was no different to the others after losing his girlfriend and his job distancing himself from his family and moving into unfamiliar territory the young man began to spiral into a ruthless depression and this would lead him on a path to some rather dark thoughts needless to say but anyone going through a difficult change will feel a range of emotions throughout their Journey now some of you will know about the seven stages of grief but this is better technically known as the kuer Ross model this model has helped me through some rather challenging moments in my past I guess because it's offered some sort of explanation to my feelings and personal opinion but I think it's worth everyone knowing about this in case it helps you too kyota seemed to be flip-flopping through the three middle stages including frustration depression and experimentation for example that experimentation was traveling around Japan but sadly it seems that eventually he got stuck on both frustration and depression and so after a month of loneliness in Tokyo he slipped into a rather unhealthy habit of cheap hotels chain smoking and binge drinking the depression continued his dark thoughts escalated and finally Cota decided that he wanted to end his life but the way in which he wanted to die was rather strange at 5:00 p. m.
