You have just myself and a saw blade. In this video, I will reveal David Caserta's body split illusion. Here's a quick recap of what happened.
David gets into a contraption and a spinning saw blade goes right through him, magically splitting him in half. After he physically moves, a hand crank is manually turned. When the crank is spun, the top half of his body separates, revealing a clear gap where you can see through his waist.
Then at the end, his body is restored and he walks out. So, how did he do it? Well, all you have to do is look at the background.
Notice that he's originally standing in front of a red curtain before he appears inside the apparatus. Then, near the ending, there's something deceptive. Instead of showing the curtain being lowered again and then him walking out, we get a jump cut.
The producers try to make it look like he somehow got out of the apparatus without any curtain being dropped in between when in reality that entire moment was removed. Now, if you haven't figured it out yet, here's the secret. While the curtains were down at the beginning, they were actually hiding the prop, which was already set up with the prop legs in place.
Those legs were moving from the very start using that same side to side motion. David climbed up using some footsteps in the back, then crossed his legs loosely in front of his body. This position is called the Anza position.
In this position, the shins and knees are much closer together and closer to the surface. Because of that, it's not only a very comfortable position, but it can also be easily hidden inside the hollow concealed space. The illusion can be designed to work from all directions, but for some reason, David didn't have the assistants rotate the apparatus a full 360°.
Instead, they only moved it side to side. This made getting into the setup position much easier since he kept the back half of the area he was seated on uncovered. If you want early videos and exclusive reveals, come join me on Patreon.

Although it might look like the color of his shoes changed, that's not actually true. It's just the red lighting hitting him from the front. That lighting switches on when the blade starts cutting through his body to add more suspense.
Otherwise, you can still see that his shoes are black both before and after he gets into the apparatus. Behind this mask, only the truth remains till we meet again.
