[Music] hi welcome back to liferay university my name is ben clement and today in this section we're going to be talking about creating reusable page structures with page templates so what are page templates they're pre-configured pages that you can use to generate new site pages there are two different types of templates that can be utilized when creating page templates there's the content page template which can be used specifically at the site level and there are also the widget page templates which are managed at the global site level so what are some benefits of utilizing page
templates so on the livingston website let's say that i have a page that is structured a certain way which maybe has a picture in it some text and a header but i have multiple areas in my website where i want to utilize this structure well the page template allows you to simply create that structure and then create pages based off that structure so you'll have many similar types of pages based off the page template that you've created which gives your site a little bit more of a cohesive consistent feel and another great thing is that
let's say you've created many pages with this page template but for all these pages you needed to add one more section well the good news is that you could simply just edit the page template and that change will happen across the board so now that we've talked about the page templates a little bit you're probably wondering what else can i configure in this page template for search engine optimization settings they can be defined by adding metadata to the page template administrators can update each of the following for a page template html title description keywords and
robots if you want to apply your custom themes to your page template you can do this as well also if there are any javascript and icons that you wish to add to your page template this can be added through the advanced feature sections of the page configuration so now we're at our knowledge check so go ahead and feel free to pause the video here to take some time to fill out the blanks and when you're ready go ahead and click play all right let's go ahead and go over these liferay provides tools to quickly create
