things unfold there are two aspects to this idea of keeping your mouth shut the first is allowing others to express themselves rather than drawing all the attention to yourself if the this wasn't important then the Bible won't encourage you to be slow to speak and quick to listen this indicates that speaking less and listening more leads to better outcomes when you learn to keep your mouth shut you allow yourself to think before sending out replies this helps to prevent unnecessary conflict and misunderstandings but keeping your mouth shut is not just about listening to others it's
also about listening to God it's funny how you can go on and on talking to God without allowing him to respond yet you call it communication but at the same time you say you can't hear God speak to you that's true because you haven't allowed him to speak when you take the time to be still and Silent before him you'll hear him without obstruction only then will you see his goodness radiating in your life instead of murmuring and complaining Hannah chose to keep her mouth shut but amid the silence she never stopped praying to God
the same goes for Daniel despite his situations he kept his mouth shut prayed and allowed God to work in his favor when you choose to speak less and listen to God you acknowledge that you don't have all the answers you're open to learning from him due to your limited understanding don't forget that he speaks in a still Small Voice and until you're silent you won't hear him speak the second aspect is keeping your mouth shut about your plans and allowing the result to announce itself that is why you'll often hear people say it is better
to show than to tell instead of always talking about what you're doing or going to do why not take action and let your results speak it's like the old saying actions speak louder than words no matter how old this saying gets it'll remain effective don't try to impress people with your words not everyone smiling and laughing with you wants to see you succeed so you'll be doing yourself more harm than good by telling people about every step you take Proverbs 21:23 says Those Who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from Calamity you might
not express your plans to show off but the second party may feel intimidated and this most times doesn't turn out well Beloved the world contains too much noise for you to want to add to it in times like this keeping your mouth ship comes in handy it is a valuable skill that you can't afford to live without you might not understand why but there are so many important reasons attached are you ready to know them number one it shows your level of faith and trust in God many people end up not getting what they want
because they they try to force things to happen their way but the Bible reminds us that there is a time and a season for every activity under the heavens if you're wise enough to remain calm and quiet while waiting on God you'll see his hand at work in your life and this goes a long way to show your faith and trust in his abilities it also proves that you're submissive to his wisdom and divine Guidance the fact that he has already ordained your future is enough reason to to allow him to work at his Pace
this will teach you to develop the patience needed to endure the challenges bound to come your way number two it helps to prevent unnecessary conflict as a Christian you're supposed to be careful with your words and examine them before speaking you also have to exercise self-control when expressing yourself before you speak weigh the possible consequences that might result from your words if you find that your words won't bring good results then refrain from speaking Proverbs 17 2728 says the one who has knowledge uses words with restraint and whoever has understanding is even tempered even fools
are thought wise if they keep silent and Discerning if they hold their tongues If You observe you'll see that 95% of people who talk a lot gossip this caliber of people causes problems everywhere they find themselves why because they talk without thinking keeping your mouth shut helps you resist the temptation to gossip or speak ill of others this way you're less likely to engage in unnecessary arguments and save yourself the stress of getting caught up in meaningless misunderstandings why not let God take charge instead of trying to handle problems your way put down your sword
and ask God the best way to approach the situation on the ground it will surprise you how it all turns out to favor you number three people can use your words to harm you Jeremiah 179 says the heart is deceitful above all things and Beyond cure who can understand it this scripture makes it clear that the human nature in man retains the urge to hurt people as we said earlier not everyone smiling with you truly has your best interest there are are people out there who don't want to see you succeed and because of your
inability to keep your mouth shut you end up selling yourself out to your enemies you don't need anyone to help track your progress people who announce their every step to the world find it difficult to move to the next level some are unlucky and they never reach the level they want the fact that you're kind-hearted and you wish others well doesn't mean everyone is like you announcing your plans can stir up jealousy and envy in people's hearts against you especially when these same people haven't achieved half as much as you have some can even go
as far as planning your downfall through evil means or giving you terrible advice that will destroy all you've built take a look at Joseph for instance whenever God revealed anything about his future to him he'd share it with his brothers out of excitement he lacked discretion at that point and you can't blame him he felt they were his family after all but his brothers on the other hand saw it differently Joseph's constant dreams stirred up jealousy and envy in their hearts against him this made them to hate him the more Joseph had pure intentions yet
his brothers hated him because he couldn't shut his mouth the best thing you can do for yourself is to practice discretion in all your Affairs learn to keep your mouth shut and let your success speak for itself when you do this you take away people's power to hurt you most times people don't even need the information you are dishing out but because of ignorance you keep talking number four you're better able to focus on what's important when you talk too much it's easy to get distracted and lose focus on what's important but when you're silent
ideas flow better it gives you an opportunity to think pray and listen to God's voice and you can use your time and energy to focus on your goals and dreams this will draw you closer to success imagine that your life is like a stream of water when your mouth is constantly moving it's like there's a bunch of rocks and debris in the Stream as a result the water can't flow freely and it gets all mixed up but when you're quiet it's like the stream is clear and calm the water can flow without interruption and it
will reach its destination without any trouble when you keep your mouth shut you can let God's plans for your life flow freely but the unnecessary words you keep uttering steal your time and leave you with little or no time to do what is needed no wonder successful people don't engage in unnecessary conversations it is more like a waste of time to them you can also Channel your time and energy to achieve your dreams and goals choose to be like Jesus who knew when to speak and remain silent this way you'll have great success number five
it helps to keep negativity out of your life when you're always talking you're like a glass filled to the brim with dirty water but the moment you choose to be silent it is easier to avoid negative and toxic thoughts and emotions and you render them powerless against you it's more like emptying the glass and letting God fill it with fresh water it is out of the abundance of your heart that your mouth speaks but the more you empty your mind and heart of negativity the more room you have for God to fill you with his
love and peace in a way you're purified and renewed by your silence and this process can lead to a life full of joy and purpose dear young believer these are few reasons why you must learned to keep your mouth shut it is now up to you to put this knowledge into practice and enjoy the outcome or choose to continue engaging in unnecessary conversations and face the consequences proverbs 10 19:21 says sin is not ended by multiplying words but The Prudent hold their tongues the tongue of the righteous is Choice silver but the heart of the
wicked is of little value the lips of the righteous nourish men any but fools die for lack of sense so the next time you find yourself in a situation where you feel the urge to speak out think before you react don't forget it is easier to keep your mouth shut than to speak unnecessarily but the question is how can you do this is it possible to actually keep your mouth shut of course it is but you must be willing to pull through with the sacrifice here's how to go about it it number one ask God
for guidance people often say that for every action there must be a reaction nonetheless there are times when the best reaction to give is silence but how do you know when to speak and when to keep silent you can know this through God's guidance this doesn't mean you wait until you're ready to speak before you begin to pray for guidance whenever you pray ask God to season your speech ask him to speak through you in every conversation you might engage in and ask him to help you to keep your mouth shut when you have to
let him guide you to choose your words carefully the Bible says that gracious words are a hom sweet to the soul and healing to the bones when you invite God into your conversations you can speak with wisdom kindness and Grace and in turn this brings positive outcomes it uplifts Souls and brings healing to situations instead of responding in anger or frustration choose to speak with Love by doing so you create a positive atmosphere where people feel God's love and glorify his name number two listen more activate silence and practice self-control one of the most powerful
ways you can keep your mouth shut is by engaging in active listening if you're the kind of person who talks a lot you need to train yourself to talk less and listen more instead of always rushing to give a reply take the time to listen and meditate on what you've heard no doubt this requires self-control and discipline it is like trying to do something you've never done before for the first time think of it like a muscle the more you exercise the stronger your muscles become in the same way the more you practice silence the
stronger your silence muscle becomes at first it will be very difficult to remain silent for long periods but the more you practice big easier it becomes with time you'll develop the self-control and self-awareness to remain silent when necessary practicing silence is like many other skill it takes time and effort to develop but the benefits are worth it this not only Fosters better communication but also strengthens relationships no matter how strong the urge to react with impulsive is take a deep breath and pause sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is nothing at all in
moments of conflict or tension consider choosing silence over words in silence you can hear God's voice leading you in the right direction remember the Bible says a fool gives full vent to his anger but a wise man controls himself you're not not a fool so you must exercise self-control over your words this will help to prevent unnecessary conflict and it'll allow God to work in the situation dear friend you can learn much from the Bible about the importance of shutting your mouth you can see how God worked in the lives of people who chose to
remain silent and wait on him when you choose to activate silence you begin to see God making amazing things happen in your life but there's something you need to know keeping your mouth shut is not about suppressing your voice or thoughts it may seem like you're inferior or timid but you know that's not the case it is about using your words with valid intentions in a way that honors God and reflects his love when you keep your mouth shut you allow God to work in your life and bring his plans for you to fulfillment from
