[Music] Where am I going up here? Hi, Dad. Pleasure to meet you.
You okay? Feeling strong? Yeah.
You look good. Yeah. Can I see something?
Yeah, of course. I can't I can't wait to see your new film. It's an 18 though.
Are you over 18? No, I'm only 52. Look at this top.
You look incredible. Hello, daddy. Pleasure to meet you.
Where you going? Come around here. Okay.
You are good. Pleasure to meet you. You look a lot different than I see you in East Enders playing the character Mick Carter.
Was you a big fan of that then? Did you like M Carter? I uh I um I mostly watch uh Coronation Street and Emma.
Oh, for sake. [Music] We're going to get started now. Ben, would you like to introduce us?
All right. Welcome to the assembly. Our collective of autistic, neurody divergent, and learning disabled interviewers.
Our rules are no question is out of bounds, no subject is off the table, and all might happen. Please tell us who you are. My name is Danny Dyier.
I am a 47year-old actor from East London. I mean, obviously I got a little bit more depth to me than that, but uh that's essentially who I am. And our first question is from Shardonnay.
Hey Shardonnay. Hi Danny. How are you?
I'm really well. You okay? Nice to meet you.
Can I Absolute pleasure to meet you. Should you have a cuddle? Yeah.
A absolute pleasure. Beautiful. Deep breath.
When Joe kicked you out, she emptied your shared bank account. Do you still have a shared bank account now? And you have to answer honestly.
Should I give you a cuddle? I thought it was going to be a lovely question and you hit me with that. I'm like, sorry.
She kicked you out. Yeah, she did kick me out. Why kicked you out?
Cuz I was a prick. Okay. And she deserved better.
And I was an idiot. And sometimes I would go out and I would get off my head, take drugs. I wouldn't come home for 3 days.
She had every right to throw me out. Um, she controls everything now. You called David Cameron a bad word.
Why did you call him this? I call him a Yes. I like to refer to him now as Lord Lord.
I don't know. I felt like we had a big vote for Brexit, which has obviously been a disaster. Oh dear.
Um, but he he was our leader and he off and left us. When uh when the hits the fan, that's when you need to lead us properly. He disappeared.
So I called him a I don't like him. Next up, we have Nicola. Why you keep swearing?
I was brought up by very strong women that swore. So you don't swear then? I don't swear.
Hello. Hello, Danny. How are you?
Really well, actually. You You can call today. So are you.
Oh, yeah. How much money did you get paid for presenting the wall? How much money did I get paid for presenting the wall?
I think I probably got maybe a h 100,000. Well, you have to work for it, you know. So, yeah, that's what I got.
Is that Yeah. Yeah. You didn't look that phase by whatever.
Thank you, Nicholas. Cheerio. Hello.
Hello. You want to fight me? Sorry.
I'm going to fight you. Do I want to fight you? Yeah.
Come on. [Laughter] But I'll do you. Pleasure.
Thank you, Jurio. Next up, Cameron. How working class was it to send your son to a private school?
[Music] Good question. I'm very proud of my roots. But do I want to be living in an environment, especially at the moment where there's helicopters going over my house all the time, sirens all the time, there's a lot of crime?
Of course you don't. So what you want to do is is you want to earn some money and then move to a better area where you can bring your children up. You have kids, you want to give them everything you can.
Sometimes it backfires on you slightly because now they're not street wise. I walked everywhere as a kid or I had to get a bus, you know? They I don't think they've ever been on a bus, my kids.
Why? But they don't have to, do they? No.
Because they could driven doortodoor in a Bentley. Okay. My next question is, how was therapy?
Did you find that it helped you? It's a huge question. I I um I needed to learn what was wrong with me and why because I I was acting.
I was earning money. I was I had everything going for me, but I still wasn't happy. Why am I beating myself up again?
Why am I stressing? Why am I worried? There's a hole missing inside of me which I was obviously using drugs to feel fill it.
So it I needed to understand what it was and it actually I learned that it was every strong male role model I had left me or died. So my dad left when I was nine. Uh then I got really close to my granddad and then he got cancer and he died within 6 months.
And then I got really close to a very famous playwright called Howl Pinter. And so then what I was doing was whenever I got close to somebody that I loved and looked up to, I'd press the it button before they could die. Yeah.
So that I thought, well, I'll beat you to it. I needed to learn some tools and uh to to to help me as we all need to. So it was good for me.
It comforts me. Okay. Thank you, Cameron.
Harry, me and my mom, we are fans of yours. We love you so much. We do.
Is your mom fit? [Applause] [Laughter] Me and my mom found it very upsetting when Mick Carter died on East Enders on Christmas Day. How was it for you when you left East Enders?
Very emotional for me. I did that job for 9 years. I got to a point where I made a lot of mistakes in my life and so nobody would hire me no more.
And then EastEnders came along and they said, "We love you. we want to put you in the Queen Vic. I was like like what saved my life because I had baifts at my door my first four years was was incredible and then what happens is is the producer left and a new producer came in and he didn't like the Carters.
Oh dear. So he started to sack people. My my son, my daughter, they still got Kelly Bright in it who played my wife Linda Carter.
But then what they done was they they split me up with Kelly and put me with Janine. Janine? Why did they do that?
That's what I said. So when the producers said to me, "Yeah, you're going to be with Janine. " I went, "Janine.
" Like seriously, she But she murders people. Yeah. I thought, "Oh, no.
" So she's if I stay too long, Mhm. she'll kill me. No.
So I thought, I've got to get out. So basically, I went in the sea and I was never found again. So, if I really hope you do come back.
Listen, if it all goes tits up. Yeah. Then I turn up in the pub with seaweed all over me.
And I've got another question for you. Go on. I've been struggling with my anxiety.
I feel like there are too many changes in the world. It's confusing and it's a big struggle. I know you've been struggling yourself.
How do you control your anxiety? You know what I do, Arie? I I learned about meditation.
So, I realized that my brain talks to me a lot and it talks a lot of and it also tells me how I am. So, just concentrate on your breath and I can still hear my little voices going in my head. You today or you done that or you look fat or you and I just breathe again.
I just just try and quieten down the noises. Can happen at any point. I'm sure you all have it.
Yeah, I have that. And it's hard because every time you put the news on Yeah. It's a mad time to be alive.
Can you show us, please? Close your eyes. Yeah.
Down. Just put your hands in a nice relaxed position. Yeah.
All you're going to do is when you breathe in, in your mind, you're going to say one. So, it's one. One.
And when you breathe out, two. And then you go back to one. Do it in your mind.
Yeah. And then sometimes we our brain's still talking to us. But just go one and then two.
Just relax your forehead. Relax your face. your shoulders, your arms.
We're all loved. We must never forget we're loved. [Music] Now you've done Rivals.
Okay. You've kind of become a bit of a sex symbol for moms. How does that feel?
I thought I'd had my days of that being a sex symbol. Turns out actually it's okay to have hairy breasts cuz I do have hairy breasts. You know but what I'll say is all of a sudden look he looks disgusted with me.
Look if if this can be attractive Yeah. then I'm very surprised. Next up we have a question from Joseph.
You okay? Yeah. Fine.
Yeah. Do you need anything? No, I'm okay.
Hello, Danny. Nice to meet you, Joseph. Pleasure.
You found out that your dad had a secret family. How gutted do you feel? Well, it was, you know, it was um you know, my my dad was living true lives.
Oh. So, he he was sort of raising us and then I always remember on Christmas Day, he disappeared for a few hours. So what he was doing was he was going across London to his other family and he had two daughters with.
If you think about that two daughters crazy like how did you do that? And then then my mom found out my assistant was like you know 9 months old or whatever. So you know it was a real moment of clarity of like oh I see how the did he do that by the way?
Went from one family to another. Yeah. Crazy.
Thank you Jason. Our next question is from Paul. Ah, here he is.
Hello, I'm Paul. What did you think of your daughter being on Love Island? Is she a nippo baby?
Never been. She is by default. And I think that's probably why she got on Love Island.
I didn't want to do it. I didn't want to do it because I' i'd never watched it, but I heard people have sex on that show and I thought as a father I don't want to see no not I ever felt that she was going to do that but she didn't tell me till the last minute. Then she just went and then I watched it like a viewer.
Oh sitting there every night like that. She was such a beautiful human being on it because she is a beautiful human being and she was respectful and she was quite vulnerable. She was funny.
So actually it worked out really well for her because she was working in a pub before she went in that. As soon as she came home, she off and left me. Went and got a got a flat in Canary Wolf.
She is a Nepo baby. Yeah, of course she is. But what's wrong with that?
You know what I mean? Jacob. Hello, Danny Dier.
Hello. I know your daughter's getting married. Have you prepared a speech for your daughter's wedding?
Well, first of all, I'm so excited about her getting married because she's marrying the West Ham captain. But she has brought home some before. And I didn't like them.
They didn't treat her well. I tell you how I know. When she brings home somebody that is a bit of a prick, she's not being herself.
She came home once she brought this boy home and she said to me, "Dad, I want to make him a frothy coffee. " I went, "Fucking never made me a frothy coffee ever. What?
Why? Why are you pretending that you make froy coffee? " She went, "Oh, no.
" Cuz he likes coffee. He likes coffee. I went, "This is weird.
" So then I had to show her how to we use the coffee machine. I was like, "Fucking okay. " So I knew she's not being her.
Anyway, when she brought home Jared, she was herself. So my speech is going to be about how I am more in love with him than her. Got to think cuz her name's Danny Dyer as well, cuz I'm Danny Dyier.
She's Danny Dyier. Why do you call Danny? Danny D.
Why you call D? Someone in the name are after me. Okay.
Right. Thank you. Very good interviewing you.
Absolute pleasure. Absolute pleasure. Right.
We have Naris. Hello. What your favorite kebab?
My favorite kebab. Yes. I love a kebab.
I've not had a kebab in so long. I like Donna. little bit of salad, loads of chili sauce, and then it just it's like ah, you know, I remember I got drunk once and I fell asleep with my Donna kebab next to me and I woke up all on my pillow.
So yeah, I like Donna. I like the I like the filthiest one. Essen, you're up next.
Hi, I'm Essen. It's nice to meet you. Pleasure.
This is a difficult question. If you don't want to answer it, that's completely fine. Okay.
So, I just wanted to put that out there. I appreciate that. hell.
Jesus Christ. Listen, give it to me. That's why I'm here.
Let's Let's have an open conversation. Go on then. Thank you.
You mentioned you had father issues and um Oh dear. brave. Remember my father for a long time.
I tried to get in contact with him. I don't know if yours is the same situation, but how would you deal with parents that not longer around? Sorry.
No, I get it. It's um it's really difficult, isn't it? To my dad.
Um He just he wasn't very good dad. He didn't know how to do it. He told me when I wasn't allowed to hold his hand anymore.
And I was trying to cross a road and I went to hold his hand. He went, "No, we don't do that anymore. " And I was like, "Ah, shit.
" I don't understand how men put their head on the pillar knowing they have children out there that they just can't they don't have a relationship with. I I couldn't do it. Like I caused quite a lot of pain to my children.
Yeah. you know, the stuff I was getting up to and just just being vacant, not engaging, you know, not being available. And I realized later on that actually, wow, I I'm going to do every everything in my power to be it's not about money.
You can live in a cardboard box. Listen, express yourself. It's it's about love.
What What do children need? They just need stability and affection and feel like they're loved. That's it.
When you haven't got that, it's a really tough thing. I'm very close to my dad now actually because again he he deserved another shot. So there's still no relationship there with their loss because you're a incredible human being.
So like you know what they missed out. It was just me and my mom for a long time and same. Yeah.
All he needed was my mom. That was it. Of course.
It's all right if I give you a hug for that. I'm sorry. Thank you.
Absolutely. It's all about the love. Pleasure.
Thank you. Pleasure. Time for some music now.
This is mad. This is like proper Yeah. Sorry, I could swearing.
Told you I comes naturally to me. I was blind. Now I see.
You made a believer out of me. I'm moving on up now. Getting out of the darkness.
My light shines on. My light shines on. My light shines on.
[Music] 1 2 3 4. I was lost, now I'm found. I believe in you.
I thought no bounds. I was lost and now I'm found. I believe in you.
I've got no bounds. I'm moving on up now. Getting out of the darkness.
My light shines on. Shines on. My light shines on.
[Music] Oh god, you [Music] got my light shines on. My light shines on. My sh I'm getting sh I'm getting sh I'm getting shine shine on my shine shines Oh [Applause] sh my light [Applause] shines amazing.
Better than Eastender. Pitch is all over it. So good.
Um Harry, if you'd like to do a little roundup for us. Well, Danny Dier, how did you feel about today? What did you enjoy the most?
Been an honor to be honest. It's been very emotional. It's great learning about you lot.
Learned a bit about myself. Yeah, I'm a bit emotional, but that was amazing, that tune. What I will say, listen, I will say is this.
You better prepare yourself a bit of fame, you lot, because uh I think the show is going to be massive and you lot. Well done. Use use your fame responsibly cuz I never.
So, thank you for having me. I very much thank you for being Pleasure. The love, isn't it?
Nice to see you. You're a good man, Danny. Thank you, mate.
So are you. Thank you. Show my love to your mother, wouldn't you?
Are you happy? Am I happy? Really happy today.
You're my You are my favorite actor, by the way. Thank you. I bet you said that to David Turn.
