you're looking at this verse in any other version there's another version that says I know your works I know your works but neither hot nor cold but I wish you were either cold or hot and look at it there it says because you say I am rich have become wealthy and have need or nothing when we when we have needs in life when we want why do we go to work why do we seek promotion at work why do we work you say the Bible is saying you you say I am rich you say I have become wealthy and you have need of nothing you have need of nothing because you're able for your basic needs the basic needs are covered but this person says I'm in need of nothing this person is doing well one time Rebecca was preaching and if you know Heidi Baker you know she works with a very poor of the poor in Mozambique so if you want to talk about uselessness there's another level of useless whereby the children eat from garbage hips that's you that's another level of useless that's another level of dysfunction sometimes you may say I have uselessness but you haven't met another person with more uselessness are we together that person of the new do you agree because the person does not even know what they are going to eat or as a matter of fact they will happily eat what you have the rotten food you have discarded you know the food you guys give chickens is better than the food they eat on a daily say that we have exposed our children to real poverty made sure that they've gone and really served the broken of the broken like it's important to shift something in them so we're discussing work and what we're discussing today is effective work but what I'm trying to show you that even in this scripture here in Revelations chapter 3 is and this verse can work for a lot of stuff hot or cold spirituality hot or cold many other things it's it's not directly nobody may have looked at it to think about work and incomes and and that sort of thing um but it's actually very connected and this saying of I am re I am rich I am wealthy and have no need of anything it's somebody who has some abundance and they're able to cater for their needs and there are people who are very comfortable at a thousand others are two others are ten others are 10 million but they're they're fine they've got this they've got what they need the shoes they need whatever they're exposed to they're okay but the Lord is saying but you do not know that your wretched miserable poor blind and naked what does the two have why is why what is wealth how is wealth connected to now all this other kind of pokes and other things to do with meant your mental health and and to do with your spirituality and your bondage so there's a lot of bondage but it's covered up by some shine some some kind of accomplishment at whatever level that may be but when the Lord measures you you found wanting and he said I know your works I know your works I know your attitude I know your love I know your temperament I know all those things we have been discussing and we he's saying as many as I love I rebuke and chasten therefore be zealous and repent and if anyone hears my voice and opens the door he says behold I stand at the door and knock and if anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and dine with him and he with me now who has ever thought that can be something to do with work oh intimacy for work intimacy for your purpose intimacy for functionality because the solution is I'm advising you buy from me gold refined in the fire that you may be rich and white garments that you may be clothed that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed and anoint your eyes with eyes that you may see the answer is that he loves you and because he loves you he'll rebuke you and because he rebuke you because he loves you he will chasten you and then he says be zealous and repent and then he says behold there's an invitation I'm standing at the door and I'm knocking if you can hear my voice and you where does the father sit when the father is on the throne he is a king he's promising you are thrown what's a throne it's Kings who sit on Thrones and this whole thing is about the works of God my father is working and I am working hitherto King James Version my father is working and I'm also working and this is I know your works you look like you're all that but with my eyes I can see that you're not all that is the obvious ones but there's the not so obvious ones and coming back to my Heidi story she was speaking for Bethel or one of the American Ministries I shall say that that the message that God is giving up for the West is a little bit difficult to communicate because when she's in Africa and she's talking about the Bread of Heaven and feeding the lost and those in poverty it's obvious because they look at it but he says when you come to America they are dying of cancer they are dying of other diseases there are many things and he says and you're speaking to ministers is because you do not have fresh bread you're ravaged by sickness you're ravaged by diseases all of you are getting cancers every one of you has been taken out by those things but you look okay on the flesh you look okay on the outside but you're not okay and says you need the same bread that the poor Africa needs the Miracles in Africa are greater than the ones in the west because the people in the west they say that I am rich have become wealthy and I do not need anything but they said the Lord has to open my eyes to see that you are very poor and you are more poor than the ones in Africa go to Africa and the child has Joy they are smiling from chin to Chin you will see the glory of God even when they're praying hydraulic Becca said that the most intense worship he has ever been a part of was in Congo he went to a part of Congo that white people were not allowed to go really because you do not know whether you will return there was a part of Congo when a father left for work he had to hug his kids bye-bye because there was no guarantee he's going to come back he was in a part of combo that every woman has been raped multiple times and it's possible they will be rich today but he work and nothing will actually move how many of us need to be convinced that nothing moves relaxed um God requires effective work for him to approve it he is saying to him who overcomes I will grant to sit with me on my throne I also overcame and I sat with my father on his throne when you see someone diligent in his work he will stand before Kings do you see the connections the promise is kingship the promise is serious Authority serious power the anointing to move things the king just have to say something when you decree I think it shall be established but how can I get that Authority it comes from overcoming so sometimes we only think this verse is talking about overcoming sin and character that's how we've used it before God requires effective work for him to approve it it means you actually achieve something with the time that you have been given and the time that you spend at work that work must be productive because God values time and he does not like he hates wastage God hates laziness God hates laziness the Bible says in Colossians chapter 3 and verse 23 whatever you do work heartily as for the Lord and not for men whatever you do work with all of your heart as for the Lord and not for men Ecclesiastes write these scriptures because I want you to study them Ecclesiastes chapter 9 and verse 10 Ecclesiastes chapter 9 and verse 10 whatever your hand finds to do do it with all of your might whatever say whatever yeah it does whatever sweeping washing dishes when I come there I will just pop in and go straight to the kitchen rack and see whether to heaven I'll be here I'm talking to myself future Generations would catch the recording but do you know that shows you something if you do if you'd say Jesus please take me that shows you something yeah it's it's it shows you that you are rejecting it will be a bad thing if you chose that way it shows that you're rejecting life you've rejected work you've rejected purpose even if he took you he wouldn't be very happy do you see work and its importance but Apostle Paul says Ah stay here be beaten again be crucified be beheaded and you still choose to do that for work when I had an option to stay in heaven foreign for it so he said I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ we have over spiritualized it because we only think of the pastor you see this is a problem the prophet the pasta so we think of these things in that context but what about 95 percent of people who are not pastors it's them God is the other men and women of God so ineffective work it's not pleasing to God when is the last time you even had accusation and he saw the father saying you know have you seen have you ever seen you know felt sadness like you you know like you go to court and it's like the work is not pleasing he says in Colossians chapter 3 saying and whatever you do in work or indeed do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ giving thanks to God the Father through him the Bible says in Matthew Chapter 5 and verse 16 let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father who is in heaven it's not offering and tithes I'm sorry the pastor only quoted it for that what good works what will make you shine it's your distinction what will make you shine it's your scroll what will make you shine
