ever since the first Boats were crafted they've been invaluable parts of human society and while it's fair to say that they weren't immediately made to be put into a war setting it was likely rather close to that point after all whether it was getting on boats to find new lands to explore or doing raids or straightup Naval Combat having a warship has been vital for all nations who can rely L use them to that end they've been a part of numerous major world conflicts including world wars fast forward to now and the technology has made

some rather powerful ships for Nations big and small to use and with that in mind here now are the 20 most advanced warships in the world number 20 the Congo class destroyer I'm going to begin with a nation that you honestly may not think about these days in terms of military power and that would be Japan the irony here is that for many generations they were a superpower in terms of military might especially when it comes to their Navy however after the events of World War II one of the reparations the country conceded to the

Allied Forces was that they wouldn't have an active military but instead they would have a self-de Defense Force which would be used to solely protect the Homeland to their credit Japan has maintained that policy for many years now which also means that they've had a very small military outside of anti-air and anti-submarine weaponry the reason for this was because they felt that was the biggest threat to Japan however over the years with China's massive rise to power and the fact that the United States has had to reduce its presence in Japan's part of the Pacific

Ocean they decided to increase the self-defense Force with some destroyers which included the Congo class they were initially on a similar style of US Naval warship but the Japanese ships are just slightly bigger and have better technology and capacity than the ones that they were based on they are a guided missile destroyer and use a special program called AIS in order to help control everything AIS is so powerful that it can maintain control and guidance of a fleet of ships both above and below the surface of the water and know where everything is further proof

that we're one wrong button press away from Judgment Day but I digress to be clear the Congo class destroyer is not meant to attack Nations it's just an incredibly large Destroyer that's meant to protect itself from longdistance attacks from aircraft drones and possibly even missiles considering that Japan and China don't have the best history and Japan is now a staunch Ally of the United States you can bet that they're just a little bit worried about China's Antics in recent years and simply want to be ready for a fight should one come anywhere close to their

aircraft carrier depending on how well vers you are in the art of ship Styles you know that this is a very bad thing should it be made stealthcraft technically are typically reserved for things like aircraft and planes and drones and sometimes things like submarines depending on how deep they can naturally go the goal obviously is to make it so that radar and other detection technology can't pick them up allowing the to do whatever the heck it wants until someone actually sees them with their Naked Eyes China's been trying really hard not only to build stealthcraft

including drones and planes but to match the capabilities of its rival in the United States and pass them now to our knowledge as the government doesn't obviously reveal everything to the people the United States doesn't have any kind of stealth ship of this size so if they were able to pull something like this off that would be a huge asset for them and could make the deadliest warship in the world especially if they could Mass produce it do we have a reasonable worry about this coming soon well it's hard to say given China's drive for

at the height of the Soviet Union in many of ways after all this ship was the largest one ever produced outside the Carrier class ever since World War II which is significant for a whole lot of reasons not the least of which was that the largest naval Clash of its generation and Beyond the irony is that the kir off class battle cruiser has had quite a few shifts over the years for example it was initially meant to be a kind of anti-submarine Cruiser but when they realized it could house and fire missiles of a guided

nature really well and become a huge threat to other warships they then focused on it being that instead also they shifted the names of the vessels a few times over the years so that they wouldn't be tied to any kind of communist leader another thing that may surprise you is that the K off class battle cruiser has technically a two engine system the first engine is a a nuclear powered engine and the other is a steam engine apparently they work in harmony so well that the steam itself can be superheated to give the battle cruiser

an extra boost in speed when they need to do fast movements so how many of these ships were ever made well four of them in total not the most impressive number but while these ships were massive they were also costly and if you recall the Soviet Union was not the best in handling money equally as important of the four made not all of them are in service and the last one standing may be put to pasture in 2025 such as life for a battle cruiser number 18 the USS Iowa since I've just opened up the

door to talk about ships that are no longer with us I'll talk about a bygone style of ship that had one in particular that served du tole over the years and actually was a key part of United States history this is the lead ship of the group of similar vessels and it's known as the USS Iowa now yes there are four different ships that have been named that over the course of United States history but the one I'm talking about served in World War II the Korean War and even the Cold War for a Time

ships like the USS were made during the early days of the United States involvement in World War II which technically was before Pearl Harbor to be a fast and furious kind of ship that could catch up to enemies and then blast them before they could even harm the slower vessels in the fleet during World War II she arguably had her most important Mission ever as she had to carry President Franklin delanor Roosevelt on a secret mission to tyan where he would then meet with fellow world leaders like Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin this meeting was

the first of its kind for war and it helped set the tone for the 1943 in what would become the invasion of Normandy and the ending of the war when it wasn't carrying vital World figures around the ship was blasting enemy Beach heads while protecting aircraft carriers from Attack as those carriers were the backbone of the American Navy due to the costly maintenance of the ship the USS Iowa was eventually decommissioned after the Korean War however she was then brought back online when the USSR began amassing a powerful naval fleet by 1990 she was shut

down once again but for just a single ship the head of her class as many would say that's a pretty nice career to hang your hat on number 17 Rising class destroyer now we'll do something just a little bit different and instead of focusing on a singular nation and their warship we'll talk about a project that was done by multiple Nations to ensure their Mutual Protection One such vessel is the Horizon class destroyer which is being used currently by the French and Italian navies and they worked collaboratively in order to create a ship to defend

their Nations now this isn't the first time that European nations have done such a thing multiple times in history they have put their borders aside in order to come together to create vessels and aircraft that they can both wield one such ship was the Euro Fighter typhoon which had many more Nations involved than this project did the project was begun in 1995 and a special joint company was created to handle all of the hard work so that everything would go smoothly as you may have guessed though when you have multiple Cooks in the kitchen things

can get delayed and surely enough the French and Italian leaders had differing ideas on what the Horizon class destroyer should be and so the project had stalled for a bit under their third partner the UK when they left the project by 2000 work would be continuing again and progress was being made and by the end of the decade two ships were created for each nation and they were all impressive The Horizon class ships are officially referred to as frigs however considering their size and Powerful Armament these ships are clearly Destroyers they're called frigs purely for

political reasons and the vessels have enhanced stealth features and have both anti-air and anti-ship weapons at the ready so it may have taken a while to get things done but the results in the end seem to be worth it number 16 mistal class assault ship now we're going to stick with France for this one because the story of the mistal class assault ship is both hilarious and inspiring France Got contracted to make a new kind of amphibious assault assault ship for Russia one that would be an impressive size have good Firepower capabilities but also have

craft that could easily be lowered into the water to get the troops to the shore surely enough France was willing to go and do that these kind of deals happen often between countries but the twist is that despite Russia being the one who had placed the order their initial aggressions against Ukraine in the early 2010s would lead to France backing out of the deal and giving the ships to Egypt instead then they made three of the ships for their own Navy's use you better bet that Russia love that and I also bet that France loved

having this kind of ship in their Navy as it could carry not only troops but also an entire swath of vehicles including dozens of tanks that could be loaded into amphibious vehicles on the ship and then be taken to the shore France did all the work and got to reap all the rewards and I guess they won that battle in the end number 15 the seong Great class there are certain nations of the world where you look at them especially in terms of location and who's around and say yeah they need as many ships and

vehicles as possible in order to protect themselves South Korea is one such Nation ever since the Korean War divided the once unified Nation South Korea is in a constant state of Potential Threat they have to line the DMZ with North Korea with soldiers and vehicles to ensure that they aren't caught off guard and they've made multiple military movements to help ensure that they can protect themselves and not just rely on allies like the United States one such advancement was during an experimental Battleship program where they made saang the great class destroyer true to its name

the Destroyer is equipped with weapons to take on threats in the air the water or even beneath the waves it's just one of several ships in its class that are meant to protect the waters around South Korea and based on what everyone's seeing it can get the job done in then some number 14 Arley Burke class destroyer I'm shifting back to the United States for this one and it should be stated that Destroyer almost doesn't sound like a good enough name for the ship at first it's a guided missile destroyer like others I've mentioned and

at second it has the AIS system which is a highly advanced piece of technology that can handle missiles all over the place and finally not only is the biggest of its kind it has more missiles than any guided missile ship that before it this thing can carry over 90 missiles and that's not even everything that it has to offer that's more than enough to blow up several ships planes drones and anything else that may come in close proximity and with AIS the ship can basically ensure that the missiles will hit what they're supposed to and

it's absolutely terrifying now for context the US Navy just loves this ship and it's one of only two active Destroyer classes in its Fleet right now as of 2023 there are 73 of these things that are active and ready for Duty and they're going to add about 20 more number 13 the type 055 Destroyer now I teased them having Advanced ships before but now with the type o55 Destroyer we're going back to talk about an actual vessel that the Chinese don't only have but they're boasting about whenever they can this is another in a long

line of guided missile destroyers they're incredibly advanced and even the United States government acknowledges that they would be a serious threat on the water especially given its exceptionally longrange capabilities in China's eyes these are vital ships that are meant to escort the growing number of carriers that they're building should War break out as of 2020 eight of these ships have been made and are apparently active however given that they've not been put to the test in actual combat it's actually hard to know just how well that they'll function it's not like the Chinese are going

to tell you whether or not it was an epic weapon of war or just something for show and hopefully the need to find out is not going to arise anytime soon number 12 the Admiral gorchov class frig as you're seeing there are a whole lot of different types of naval ships and Military fleets all across the globe and each one of them has its own purpose and reason for being there in Russia the Admiral gorchov class frig are a costly vessel taking about $250 million just to manufacture one single vessel the point of them was

not only to advance the Aging frigate Fleet that they had but to also ensure that it had a frig that could do multiple tasks versus just one if you're confused past generations of frigates across many nations were built to be single-minded in their focus they would do one task like taking on aircraft or ships and not both but the Admiral gorchov class frigate is different and that it can take on multiple roles which includes ones that go far beyond the scope of battle like escorting troops or even helping out destroyers when it does get into

a scrap it's going to be fine as they're actually equipped with the best technology and weapons that Russia can provide right now there are not that many of these frigs right now mainly because of Parts issues but should they get more than a handful constructed they would be a fierce combatant to anyone who would oppose them number 11 the akazuki class destroyer that Japan has can be traced back to World War II they're not the same ships but they are upgraded versions of the same class and when it came to this Destroyer both then and

now they were designed to escort ships that could take out enemies before they reach the carriers or give them any kind of serious damage they were outfitted with impressive weaponry and became a pain during World War II for a Time fast forward to these days and the akazuki is still in play just with upgraded technology and a slightly different purpose yes they are still escort ships especially for the few carriers that they have but they are also meant to protect the ships with Aegis Tech so that they won't be disrupted when they're firing missiles at

enemy combatants it also can't be stated enough that in today's day and age with technology you just still have to have a shield in order to help ensure your sword cuts through the enemy while Japan isn't wanting to enter a war anytime soon they are preparing to defend the ships that they have if they have to potentially do so number 10 the Hobart class destroyer now we'll go to a different ocean to talk about our next warship the Hobart class destroyer is one that's used by the British royal Navy and they're a prime example of

what can happen when you attempt to make something nice but don't take into account everything that can go wrong in construction the case in point while the ships do work they took a bloody long time to get them completed furthermore there's only three of them despite all the effort the various parties put into the thing aside from all of that they were first designed to be anti-aircraft ships to defend the rest of the royal Navy and they soon became vessels designed to take on all threats no matter where they were number nine Independence class LCS

now if you don't know LCS stands for loral combat ship and they're meant to be smaller and Incredibly agile ships that serve a specific purpose within the fleet specifically these are meant to be rather stealthy ships that can go up to enemy borders and do all certain types of attacks or even just straight up block off the shoreline so that things can't get in or out it's honestly rather clever and also proof that people really do think of everything when coming up with new ideas for battle Vehicles the irony is that not only did the

United States love this ship when it got built via its competition but they also took the top two versions of the LCS and gave them a dozen ships each to make so yeah I guess it more or less worked out in the end number eight the Sea Hunter this is the potential future of US Naval War Warfare the Sea Hunter is a prototype USV which stands for unmanned surface vehicle and this thing is completely autonomous designed to ensure that there would be no need for crew on board the only reason that people would have to

get on this thing is in order to repair it should the need arise it has special technology inside so that it can be on Patrol without any human guidance which includes using radar and other sensors in order to detect obstacles while moving away from them now to be clear there are no weapons on the Sea Hunter just yet the reason for this is obvious because they don't want to lose the ship to a misfire or cause an international incident because of a command glitch or something regardless should it prove to be useful and effective in

the testing and trials that it's going through now the United States will arm it and will more than likely enjoy it and the thing could be the first drone ship that they use in future combat number seven USS Zumwalt remember how I said that the United States only had two types of Destroyers in their Fleet well here's another one the USS zumwald is the lead ship of the Zumwalt class destroyer and was first built in 2015 the Zumwalt class was primarily designed to support ground forces and land attacks in addition to the usual Destroyer missions

of anti-air anti-surface and anti submarine warfare now as I've shown before having a craft no matter what the size might be that can do many kinds of missions will make it even more valuable to its home nation plus recently it was outfitted with missiles in order to help make it even more deadly of a threat on the water and the United States had two different yet very powerful destroyers that were ready for battle at the drop of a hat number six the HMS Queen Elizabeth now it's time to show off the possession of the royal

British Navy I'm talking about the HMS Queen Elizabeth which isn't only a proud carrier it's actually the flagship for the entire Royal Fleet when you name something after the late Queen you better had make it special and they did just that like all true carriers one of her main functions is to have aircraft that can be launched off of it the HMS Queen Elizabeth can house up to 60 aerial Vehicles which means that she commands quite the group that can do some serious damage equally as important it's said that this is the largest and most

versatile ship in their Fleet being able to carry out all kinds of missions and doing a fantastic job when it comes to British royal Naval operations number five the tyon deroga class heading back to the United States because we all know by now that they just love having lots of ships at their disposal we'll have a look at the taond deroga class which is a guided missile frig ironic these were supposed to be Destroyer style ships but with the arrival of AIS and other equipment the United States actually saw the potential to make a much

more versatile ship that could do a whole lot more missions while not being as hard to build or even maintain for example they can be used for escort missions amphibious assaults taking out other craft or even firing rounds onto enemy Nations it only depends on the job and what the US needs them to do sadly despite their functionality they still come at a cost and by 2027 they may well be put out of service because of it number four Kolkata class destroyer can you guess where I'm going with this next one well if you said

India well good for you the Kolkata class destroyer is a ship that's owned by India and while you may not think of the nation as a warlike country you have to remember that they're a nation with the largest population in the world and it's heavily surrounded Ed by water so yes they definitely need the ships in order to protect it the project that made this Destroyer was meant to help the country make a sustainable Navy that could protect them if the need arised there are only about three of these ships available right now but there

could be more in the future and most people agree that they are state-of-the-art number three the type 45 Destroyer now we'll go back to the United Kingdom once again to have a look at the type 45 Destroyer it's one that can be defined as an oopsy of sorts the type 45 Destroyer was built and launched in 2006 and then placed into service in 2009 but there was more than one problem that ended up being the demise of this vessel first off the country had kept on lowering the number that they were going to make from

12 down to 6 and that wasn't even the end of things when it was first launched launched an admiral would note that it would be the most capable Destroyer ever and then it was found to have incredibly crippling defects that needed to be replaced quickly now the ships all six of them are likely to be retired sometime in the 2030s and then replaced with much better models so we will see how that goes in the end number two the docdo class amphibious assault ship this is the doc do class amphibious assault ship which was ordered

back in 2002 and Remains the largest ship in the Republic of Korea's Fleet the docko class is similar to the larger us wasp class they are capable of Over the Horizon Landing operations using high-speed hovercraft and helicopters and they can also house hundreds of soldiers tanks and other vehicles should the need arise many people see this arise in South Korean vessels as a response to not only their desire to be more reliant on themselves but also to answer what China and Japan are doing with their growing fleets number one the USS Gerald R Ford we're

going to go out with a bang on this video where we see the USS Gerald R Ford it is literally the biggest warship in the world today and in all of history and if you didn't know the late president did serve in the US Navy during the second world war and with distinction so he would no doubt have been honored to be the namesake of of this big ass vessel furthermore when I say that this is the largest warship in the world that's because the United States has all of the biggest warships in the world

as it has the best carriers that the planet has ever seen as well not only can It house numerous aircraft but it has defensive capabilities in order to protect itself that doesn't even talk about the range of the craft itself which is said to be far enough to ensure that if it needs to defend American interest it can easily do so and get people to back off in a jiffy in context one single carrier like the USS Gerald R for has been known to deescalate situations just with its presence alone well that's all from the
