[Music] all right we're back and i have my screen here and with my screen um you can see there's this material it's a mesh that's where the name silk screen came into play because this is a silk material and it's on these hinges you can see and it lifts up we're going to take our film that we cut and you want the emulsion side up which is the dull side and we're gonna open up that screen and put it underneath and then we're gonna set that screen on top of it and i'm just gonna it's
okay to have a little space around the outside edge here and then i have two cotton balls here and just a little cup of water and i'm gonna dip my cotton balls into that water and here's the thing that i found out you really don't want to make sure you want really want to make sure that you don't use too much water or you can ruin your stencils so i'm kind of squeezing out my cotton ball i can always go back for more if i need it i'm going to start in the middle here and
i'm just dabbing and see how it turns that dark green color that's good because that means the screen is adhering or the film is adhering to the screen and you can see like right here it's not dark green so i'm just gonna press into there and then i'm going to kind of work my way out i'm just dabbing and once we do this you need to have your screen set for a day because um it's got to adhere to the mesh and this is going to become like a stencil that we'll be using and you
guys are kind of lucky in that these are a brand new screen so you get to use brand new screens just dab and i'm kind of finishing it off around that outside edge here but you can see how you know it's adhered to the mat the silk screen because you're getting that dark green color just be careful you don't want to use too much water or it kind of makes your stencil dissolve so just be careful with that you don't want the water like pooling on top of here so like here i can see there's
a little bit of pulling when i lift that up and then just bring that over and use the water over here but i'm dabbing that scrubbing with the cotton ball all right so now i'm kind of checking it out looks pretty good a little spot here [Music] right there so now i'm going to let it set overnight and then i can come back and peel this off the acetate that's on the back side of this that clear part and then how this works is when we'll tape this off and then where this this white areas
are that's where the ink is going to go through and create your prints you'll put your paper underneath here and we'll use a squeegee and squeegee it down and it'll create your print so that's the next step
