have you ever said something in anger and immediately regretted it well perhaps you've experienced the joy of encouraging someone with your words and seeing their face light up these moments reveal the true power of our speech The Book of Proverbs tells us in Proverbs 18 verse 21 death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit this verse captures the essence of our message today we've all felt the sting of harsh words directed at us we've also experienced the warmth and motivation comes from words of kindness
and encouragement our words can build up or tear down heal or hurt Inspire or discourage every day we make choices about the words we speak often without realizing their long-term impact these choices shape our relationships our opportunities and ultimately our life's path let's begin this transformative exploration allowing the holy spirit to guide us towards a deeper understanding of the impact our words truly have my friends let's first consider how our words shape the very fabric of Our Lives shaping our reality have you ever noticed how your words can change the atmosphere around you a single
encouraging comment can brighten someone's day while a harsh remark can cast a shadow over an entire conversation this is the power we possess with our tongues in the Book of James we find profound truth about the nature of our speech James 3 verse 5 tells us even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things see how great a forest a little fire Kindles this verse paints a vivid picture of how our words though seemingly small can have far-reaching consequences think about a time when someone's words deeply affected you whether positively or negatively
those words likely stayed with you influencing your thoughts and actions long after they were spoken now consider the words you speak daily to your family friends colleagues and even to yourself each of these words is like a seed planted in the Gard of your life some seeds grow into beautiful flowers of Joy love and success Others May Sprout weeds of Doubt fear or conflict the choice of which seeds to plant is yours God's word provides us with clear guidance on how to use our speech wisely in Ephesians 4: 29 we're instructed let no corrupt word
proceed out of your mouth but what is good for necessary edification that it may impart grace to the hearers this verse challenges us to be intentional with our words using them to build up rather than tear down imagine if we all took this instruction to Heart how would our homes change if we consistently spoke words of love and encouragement to our families what impact would it have on our workplaces if we chose to speak positively about our colleagues and tasks how might our communities transform if we used our words to spread hope and kindness the

others have you ever considered how your words might be remembered and repeated long after you've spoken them this is the profound responsibility we carry every time we open our mouths to speak in the book of Matthew Jesus gives us a sobering reminder of the weight our words carry Matthew 12: 36 States but I say to you that for Every Idle Word men may speak they will give account of it in the day of judgment this verse underscores The Importance of Being intentional with our speech even our casual remarks those we might consider to be idle
words have significance in God's eyes think about a time when someone's off-hand comments stuck with you either lifting your spirits or Weighing on your heart now imagine the cumulative effect of all the words you speak in a day a week or a year each of these words contributes to the atmosphere around you and shapes the perceptions of those who hear them your words have the power to inspire hope or instill fear to motivate action or encourage complacency they can strengthen relationships or create divisions Foster understanding or breed misunderstanding the Apostle Paul understood this when he
wrote in Colossians 4:6 let your speech always be with Grace seasoned with salt that you may know how you ought to answer each one this verse encourages us to speak with grace to choose words that are kind considerate and appropriate for each situation but what does it mean for our speech to be seasoned with salt in ancient times Salt was used not just for flavor but also as a preservative similarly our words should not only be Pleasant to hear but should also have a lasting positive impact they should preserve what is good pure and true
in our relationships and communities consider the impact of Gossip for example a few carelessly spoken words can damage reputations break trust and create Rifts on the other hand words of encouragement can inspire people to reach their full potential words of forgiveness can heal long-standing wounds and restore broken relationships words of truth spoken in Love Can guide someone back to the right path The Book of Proverbs is filled with wisdom about the power of our words Proverbs 15:1 tells us a soft answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger this verse reveals how
our choice of words can either escalate or defuse tense situations when faced with anger or criticism our Natural Instinct might be to respond in the same manner but responding gently can often disarm hostility and open the door for understanding my dear friends this doesn't mean we should never speak hard truths sometimes love requires us to say things that are difficult to hear the key is in how we say these things Ephesians 4:15 instructs us to speak the truth in love when our words come from a place of genuine care and concern even tough messages can
be received well think about the prophets in the bible they often had to deliver challenging messages to God's people yet these messages were always rooted in God's love and desire for his people to return to him we too can learn to speak truth with love and compassion another aspect of guarding our tongue is being mindful of the promises we make in Matthew 5:37 Jesus says but let your yes be yes and your no no for whatever is more than these is from the evil one this teaches us the importance of being truthful and reliable in
our speech when we say we'll do something we should follow through this builds trust and strengthens our relationships it also reflects the character of God who always keeps his promises my friends as we become more aware of the ripple effect of our words we you might feel overwhelmed by the responsibility but remember we're not alone in this journey God promises to help us if we ask him Psalm 19:14 offers a beautiful prayer we can make our own let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight oh Lord
my strength and my redeemer by inviting God to guide our speech we open ourselves to his wisdom and Grace as we practice mindfulness in our speech we'll begin to see positive changes in our lives and relationships we'll become known as people whose words bring life encouragement and wisdom our influence will grow and we'll have more opportunities to share God's love with others remember every word you speak has the potential to create positive change choose your words wisely speak with intention and watch as God uses your speech to bless and transform lives my dear friends let's
now focus on how Transforming Our speech can lead to a transformation of our entire life's path the power to change the trajectory of Our Lives often begins with the words we speak have you ever noticed how your words can also shape your attitudes and actions this connection between our speech and our life's direction is profound and often overlooked The Book of Proverbs offers us wisdom on this very topic Proverbs 18:20 tells us a man's stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth from the produce of his lips he shall be filled this verse
paints a vivid picture of how our words can nourish or deplete us just as we reap what we sew in a garden we reap the consequences of the words we speak when we consistently speak words of faith hope and love we create an atmosphere of positivity around us this positive atmosphere influences our thoughts which in turn shape our actions over time these actions determine the direction and quality of our lives on the other hand when we indulge in negative speech complaining criticizing or speaking words of doubt and fear we create a toxic environment for ourselves
and others this negativity can Cloud our judgment drain our energy and lead us down Paths of discouragement and failure the Apostle Paul understood this principle well in Philippians 4:8 he advises us finally Brethren whatever things are true whatever things are noble whatever things are just whatever things are pure whatever things are lovely whatever things are of good report if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy meditate on these things while this verse speaks about our thoughts remember that our words often reflect and reinforce our thoughts by choosing to speak about things that
are true Noble just pure lovely and praiseworthy we align our speech with God's perspective this alignment can dramatically shift our outlook on life and the paths we choose to walk consider the story of the Israelite spies in numbers 13 and 14 10 spies spoke words of fear and doubt about the promised land while Joshua and Caleb spoke words of faith and courage the words of the majority LED an entire generation to wander in the wilderness while Joshua and Caleb's faithful words eventually LED them into their inheritance my friends which kind of words are you speaking
over your life and circumstances are you speaking words of Victory or defeat words of Faith or doubt Words of Love or bitterness your answers to these questions can give you insight into the path your life is currently taking the good news is if you don't like the direction you're heading you can begin to change it today by changing your words start by identifying areas in your life where your speech may be negative or destructive are you constantly complaining about your job do you speak critically about your spouse or children do you engage in Gossip or
slander once you've identified these areas make a conscious decision to change your speech instead of complaining about your job speak words of gratitude for the provision it brings rather than criticizing your family members speak words of appreciation and encouragement instead of gossiping speak words that build others up James 1: 26 reminds us if anyone among you thinks he is religious and does not Bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart this one's religion is useless this verse underscores the importance of controlling our speech as a fundamental aspect of our faith it's not enough to Simply
believe the right things we must also speak in a way that aligns with our beliefs as you begin to transform your speech you may find it challenging at first old habits can be hard to break and negative speech patterns often Run Deep but don't be discouraged remember you have the power of the Holy Spirit to help you ask God daily for the strength and wisdom to choose your words carefully Psalm 34 verse 13 offers practical advice keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit this verse encourages us to be proactive in guarding
our speech it's not just about avoiding negative words but actively choosing to speak what is good and true as you persist in this practice you'll begin to see changes in your life your relationships May improve as you speak words of kindness and understanding your outlook may become more positive as you focus on speaking words of Faith and Hope you may find new opportunities opening up as your speech reflects wisdom and integrity remember your words are seeds that you're planting in the garden of your life choose to plant seeds of love Faith and positivity and watch
as they grow into a beautiful fruitful life my dear friends the path to a transformed life begins with transformed speech every word you speak is a step in One Direction or another choose your words wisely and let them guide you towards the Abundant Life God has prepared for you Proverbs 10:1 tells us the mouth of the righteous is a well of life but violence covers the mouth of the wicked let your mouth be a well of Life refreshing and nourishing all who hear your words I want to encourage you to take this teaching to heart

in my body and the peace in my spirit I acknowledge that I have sinned with my words thoughts and deeds Lord forgive me for my trespasses and cleanse me from all unrighteousness as you have forgiven me I also forgive those who have wronged me spoken harshly against me or caused me pain with their words Lord I lay my heart before you asking that you purify my speech so that my words bring life and healing merciful father I ask for wisdom and self-control over my mouth that I may guard it diligently set a guard over my
lips oh Lord and keep watch over the door of my mouth that I may speak words that glorify you help me to be slow to speak and quick to listen so that my words do not become a weapon that the enemy uses against me or others I rebuke every lie and deceit that tries to find its way through my mouth in the name of Jesus I bind every Spirit of Gossip slander and division that seeks to use my words to cause harm in the mighty name of Jesus I declare that my tongue will be used
for your glory to speak truth Grace and love and to lift others up according to your will I declare that my words will bring life and not death peace and not confusion hope and not despair in the name of Jesus I rebuke every negative word spoken over my life and the lives of my loved ones and I declare that no weapon formed against us will prosper Lord I ask that you guard my mouth with your wisdom I pray for the blessings of a disciplined tongue so that I may speak blessings and not curses over myself
my family and everyone around me father I ask for healing in any area where words have wounded me or those I love I rebuke the enemy's attacks and the harmful effect of of words spoken in anger malice and destruction and I plead the blood of Jesus over every heart and mind let the power of my words reflect your power oh God and let every word I speak from this moment be seasoned with Grace building up those who hear me Lord I ask for your healing touch over every broken relationship that has been damaged by hurtful
words I pray for protection from the fiery darts of the enemy from misunderstandings and from every word that seeks to tear down rather than build up Lord as I say this prayer together with everyone listening I am grateful for every heart that is opening before you right now we come in agreement standing together as we pray for each other lifting one another up in unity and love Lord we ask that you guide us each day help us to guard our mouths and speak words that edify and strengthen help us to be instruments of your grace
and truth bringing life and hope with every word we we speak in every situation we Face we declare healing in the name of Jesus over every person who has been wounded by words and we claim victory over every scheme of the enemy Lord let your Holy Spirit fill us leading us into all truth and helping us to walk in the power and discipline of your word we thank you Lord for the protection that you provide for guarding our hearts and Minds in Christ Jesus for yours is the kingdom the power and the glory forever and
