when I started getting to graphic design about six years ago I was kind of overwhelmed by all the different niches and career paths you can go down as a designer in this video I want to show you 15 different types of styles or niches you can pursue and some tips or general advice for each of those so I can't go over every little thing about each Niche and this obviously isn't a list of all them out there but for each one I list I'm also going to give you some online resources you can check out
some books and some designers to follow or check out online so with that being said let's get into it so first up on the list is graphic design I know that's not actually a super specific Niche but I think it's something that everyone should learn in general I think to get into these other types of specifics you need to know some of the basics I started with just basic graphic design with some High School classes and some stuff I did in college as well it's a good start for laying the foundation and there's tons of
ways you can learn it you can be self-taught you can go through a ton of tutorials and have some self-discipline you can get a bachelor's degree like I did in something like graphic design communication design or Visual Arts I think they're once you learn kind of the basics and if you want to be a designer there's tons of opportunities out there for you you can be freelance you can work in-house you can work for a studio or an agency and overall I think becoming like kind of a jack of all trades designer isn't a bad
idea I think niching down helps you create more opportunities for yourself that are super specific but also on the other hand being able to do all kinds of things is helpful especially an economy where people needs all kinds of different designs this can separate you because you're able to kind of do it all and work on any type of client project that comes your way so I think some designers you should check out online that I think overall are just super talented graphic designers who kind of do a lot of different things first up we
have David Rudnick super talented designer someone who's I think kind of style has influenced a lot of different type of people with this acid Graphics esque style like mixing Swiss design style typography with a lot of more modern imagery and stuff like that I think a lot of the stuff you see on Instagram when it comes to poster designs and album art has has been influenced by him in some way I think overall he's just someone to look to for a lot of inspiration another person is Eric Hugh he was the art director or creative
director I can't quite remember for Nike and he's done a lot of cool stuff with them and he's also just someone who has a master at kind of typography and making stuff look good I feel like he makes things look very elegant but also modern unique at the same time even with simple typefaces like Times New Roman Gucci maze probably one of my favorite designers of all time he's another person similar to David Rudnick who's kind of influenced a lot of people I think in the younger design World a lot of this really cool Y2K
stuff he does a lot of custom typography and just really cool things and I like how he mixes kind of uh language between Japanese and English and there's a lot of cool nuances that I think because he has those two languages only happen in his work stuff is really cool a lot of color a lot of inspired by graffiti also and things like that Massimo vignelli classic designer I think everyone should check out he was famous for creating the cool map for the New York subway back in I think the 70s or 80s he's kind
of Infamous for saying you should only use three typefaces I think it was helvetica garamond and badoni um just a lot of stuff you can learn from him when it comes to like the grid and classic design Styles it's all bass and other classic designers created some of the most iconic movie posters like The Shining vertigo man with the golden arm this really cool kind of collage cut out style and cool typography if it's a design talented two sisters I've done a podcast with them you can check that out they're also just really good inspiration
when it comes to branding typography and just general design stuff they run a studio in Orange County so there's some inspiration there if you want to learn more about the studio they've also written a book David Carson and Chris Ashworth they're famous for working on the ray gun magazine crazy experimental typography and stuff that's kind of in this post-modern 90s style grunge stuff a lot of inspiration for kind of punk style things and is Chris Ashworth is a good person to follow online he posts all these cool letra set type things and David Carson has
some talks online you can check out and then just for some general resources I recommend the Michael Beirut how-to book David rudnick's talk on the graphic design crisis grid systems book for inspiration a bunch of the books that Masala Noir has on their websites and also made a giant Amazon book list thing you can check out that'll be in the Google Doc as well and then just skillshare graphic design and YouTube you can learn a lot when it comes to YouTube skillshare and master classes use those three if you don't want to go to a
general normal education I think if you have discipline you can learn a lot there this next one is 3D design I think it's a good style to get into nowadays because it's in high demand a lot of designers are incorporating more traditional design things like poster design typography and stuff with more 3D art there's a ton of talented 3D artists online who come from both the artist or a design background to get into this kind of field you can learn a lot of stuff on on YouTube blender is a great program if you want to
get into 3D art that's free Cinema 4D they have their own following that I think is you know there's kind of a debate which one's better but blender's free there's tons of tutorials online you can get into too you can also go to school for an animation degree 3D art or some kind of Visual Arts as well there's tons of private public and Community College universities that will offer some courses in 3D art pairing that with the YouTube you can create a good foundation for yourselves and designers I think you should check out in this
field are Arch fiend talented designer I've collabed with super good at creating these really abstract kind of chrome tribal shapes and cool like those realistic renders but they also have this little Sheen to them we did a cool collab back in the day and just a really cool designer to check out made by yabra or made by Motel formerly and he make he's been making these super cool kind of characters that I reminiscent of like Nintendo 64 kind of GameCube tube style stuff but they have this nice noise and Grain and grit to them and
it's almost like a darker more realistic version of like Mario characters or something and they're just really fun to check out and I think it's a big inspiration if you want to get into this stuff japari from Obi and japari someone who I think is a big influence in the 3D art community insane kind of alien like creatures he makes his japari bugs nft collection was super cool these kind of beetles with like big puffer coat jackets on them and stuff though he uses color and texture as something very unique that I rarely see and
Obi and japari are cool because OB is a talented more traditional graphic designer so he mixes his topography kind of texture work with japari's 3D work and combine the two kind of backs up what I was saying where you combine the more traditional design world with the 3D stuff it can come out with a lot of cool possibilities cadium makes a lot of cool stuff in the streetwear and Hip-Hop World from vinyl toys to just 3D art and advertisements lots of cool stuff on Instagram you should check out extra wig I found out about this
guy from the severance intro one of my favorite shows this past year and he did the intro for it and he has this weird kind of dark almost um chaotic style of like human heads and weird like noises and sound Design Incorporated with this 3D stuff and it's also animated so it's really cool to look at just some other General resources Ross Mason on YouTube check him out for Cinema 4D tutorials intranet girl for blender tutorials and just overall 3D stuff the famous blender donut tutorial you can check that out and like I said the
severance intro just for some inspiration UI ux design obviously a super popular Niche within the graphic design kind of world something that I wanted to get into when I first started until I kind of strayed away from it to the more visual side of things I think there's a lot of paths you can go down you can be a general web designer an app designer someone that's more on the ux side like user research and psychology tons of opportunities to work in-house with this type of Niche also at a studio or agent agency working on
web and app stuff I think if you get into a successful you know startup or software company with these kind of skills and UI design monetarily it's probably one of the most beneficial design Fields you can get into pays really well it seems like with the remote working with covid too it's not as limited to the metropolitan cities as it used to be and you can learn a lot of this stuff online there's a lot of skillshare stuff for it you can also do courses like General Assembly which are like these more boot camp type
things that help you learn the fundamentals very quickly there is something fun about doing the research and having every choice have a kind of backing methodology behind it and just there's a lot of possibilities within this field and I think though if you are going to get into it you really got to dive in because you're kind of taking yourself out of the more graphic and visual design field of things some stuff you can check out online Xander Whitehurst creates all these bite-sized kind of UI ux content through Instagram reels and tick tocks they're very
easy to digest and it seems like he has unlimited of them so check those out Frank Bach on Twitter delivers a lot of insight on there and Linkedin about this field he's the one of the lead product designers at headspace super well designed app and someone I also did a podcast with if you want to check that out designer Tom I'm in this um design kind of content creator type slack group thing and this guy's in there as well and he creates all these super cool content around UI and ux like just simple fun little
things like what would this look like if this company designed it this way or who has a better kind of app design this company versus this company and they're just fun little videos to watch and you also learn something if you're interested in this field and then just some general resources this field specifically I think the best social media app for you to be on is LinkedIn it just seems to be popular for UI ux a book that I read in college called Don't Make Me Think which helps you with usability and designing things that
make it easier for someone to understand and use Ideo they create a lot of cool product design stuff at this agency and the CEO there every guy's name it's like David something he has some cool TED talks and stuff too about design and then like I said just some boot camp courses and shorter design certificates with companies like generals assembly and then lastly the biggest program you want to learn if you're getting into this field right now seems to be figma that may change but that seems to be the industry standard especially with Adobe buying
them it seems to have doubled down on them going to be around for the long term so this next one is uh maybe not Niche people traditionally think of but it's being a type Foundry or font creation I think that creating fonts and type or designers or for yourself has become an even more and more popular thing as the digital tools have developed obviously a super Niche career path in this design industry you can create anything from Custom Lettering for Logos stuff for title treatments all the way to full service fonts with all the special
characters and glyphs that you're selling online for commercial use all designers need fonts so it kind of makes sense that someone needs to be creating them out there and who better better than designers themselves I don't know too much about the past you can go down to get into this other than getting better at lettering and getting better at creating typefaces but there are some people I know you can check out and that offers a lot of knowledge on this as well as sells his own fonts that are my personal favorite is James Edmondson you
can check him out he's from oh no typeco they have some of the coolest fonts in the games and he drops some little nuggets on the type design and pot history on his IG and his website new form type they create a lot of cool fonts as well and they show their stuff in cool context on IG print Club created partly by talented illustrator Sam Bledsoe or samborgini online they do a lot of cool hand drawn fonts and I think they're good inspiration and they're also good ones to buy if you're doing poster design or
any other kind of organic branding stuff Daniel schreier small independent type designer he's created a really cool font that I've used a lot in the past called faucet and he also posts some cool specimens and things online someone who also does that has more Morgan or Morgan I don't want any even try to say their last name sorry but they do a lot of cool things online as well talented type designer and they show some of their process and their cool new fonts they're coming out with and Liam Maldonado they've created these little quick tutorials
you can do for getting into lettering or type design because I know that can be intimidating and they've created probably one of the most famous used kind of fonts in this alt design kind of newer modern stuff which was glyph world it's been taken off for commercial use now but got a ton of use when it was popular like a few years ago so check them out as well some other resources are just different type specimen books you can get this General one that I have which is this giant kind of one from the 80s
or different type foundries also sell like specimen books that are cool to buy cool type Jasmine she just came out with a font creation class for kind of creating abstract lettering you can check that out um this I am cursed or Bryce Casper he does all these quick illustrator tools for editing lettering that's really cool and there's this website called typedesignschool.com which can kind of get you started with some of the basics next Niche is illustration obviously more art driven than the other niches but something that still plays into the design field lots of designers
are illustrators as well and there's a lot of illustrators who work with designers so I think there's a big kind of cohesive relationship in that field with design being able to illustrate too also expands your kind of opportunities and your skills as a designer it opens you up for a lot of more specific projects that need hand-drawn or even digitally drawn things I mean go to Art School learn stuff online or just self-taught through drawing this seems like one of the easiest ones to get into just being self-taught some designers you can check out are
samborghini who I talked about from the Kern Club talented designer who creates merch design and has his own brand you can look to him for some inspiration Antonio ayalo he creates these really cool illustrations that are reminiscent of like the 90s skate graphics and old like pop punk style Graphics as well Paulina Almira more of a Adobe Illustrator person who creates stuff with these like great Radiance I've had them on the pot as well very talented and they create a cool editorial style of like soft shapes and cool things dry fists they've been creating art
like every day for the past six years so there's a lot of stuff you can check out they create these cool imaginary type of creatures and a lot of cool stuff they've done with taking their illustration skills and putting it into like packaging or other stuff in the design World another one that doesn't post that much but you can look to just for some cool inspo is Van Gogh these kind of anime style Street Wear mixed illustrations he makes but really fun to look at I wish he was posting more but they're really cool the
ones that are there some resources is a digital art boot camp boring friends he creates some cool content around illustration and drawing as well as just checking out stuff on skillshare so this next Niche is album art always seemed to be one of the coolest niches in the graphic design world there's lots of opportunities to work with small artists and large labels I think it's very romanticized and something a lot of people want to get into but I know there's also a lot of bad stuff in the album art world when it comes to labels
not paying well or small artists not having money to work with so there is some pros and cons with it but overall seems like one of the coolest things to do especially making vinyl that you see printed out and you can listen to so I think nothing's more rewarding in the graphic design world than getting to physically handle things that you made most designers seem to be freelance that work on album art but I know you can work at a studio or agency that works on this kind of stuff as well as working for the
actual label themself creating some of the projects in-house quickly some talented designers I think you should check out in this field are Victor hammerberg or Victor H Studios had him on the podcast twice if you want to get some more insight into his process he's created famously lately some of the most cool album art there is the Rosalia album art for Moto mommy the new Steve Lacy albemar and just some stuff with Rosalia in the weekend and I think he's going to go on to create some iconic album arts in the future as well read
miles from Blue Note The Talented designer who kind of paved this style for blue note right here Rock I happen to be rocking the shirt and I'm just one of the most influential styles to me personally inspired my black note project it's really cool kind of ahead of its time style really mixing really cool typography with this kind of gradient map style imagery that's kind of monotone with different color I'm Dewey Saunders created a lot of famous album art for people like turnstile Anderson pack and future collage Style mixed with typography Mahalo who's famous for
creating all the little yachty art he has an inspirational story of just kind of reaching out to Lil yachty's team and making that opportunity for himself Robert Beatty who's made the Tame Impala albemar and a bunch of other famous album Arts that are just really cool kind of psychedelic illustrations someone that I really look up to and is a great source of inspiration some resources you can check out are the Stones Throw record label blue note records Peter seville's album covers that he's made famously like the Joy Division ones or some ones for New Order
and like I said the podcast that I've done with Victor H Studios next Niche is the music industry I divided this separately from album art because there's a lot of people who only work in albemar and then others who work with just the music industry like merch poster designs and things like that I think this is a fun way to kind of expand on just working on album art and having other things to work on as well I know the pay can be a little bit low compared to other niches in this industry but also
seems very rewarding to work with bands you enjoy and I think there's other ways that that stuff can kind of pay for itself other than just monetarily and there's potential to work alongside really cool artists and other creatives and seeing your stuff in the real world at festivals and things or printed out in posters is very cool there's a lot of cool creators in this Niche compared to others too that I see online it seems like a very popular thing lately I think people like how Lauren I think paved the way a little bit or
a lot of people younger designers getting into this industry um some designers to check out are Kel Lauren like I said they make a lot of cool stuff when it comes to merge design and stuff in the music industry and they have a ton of resources on their YouTube channel and on Instagram HK who's responsible for creating the entire visual world for brockhampton it sucks that the group's going to be no longer it seems but there's so much stuff you can look to that hk's made in this industry Julia Fletcher is another one who creates
cool posters that remind me of the Post Punk style like you know Devo pavement style type stuff that's really cool numbers letters using their custom typography which became very popular and it seemed to inspire a lot of others as well they do a lot of cool stuff with Indie bands and stuff for festivals like posters merch designs t-shirts Alex D NYC that's their name on Instagram they create a lot of cool stuff for hardcore and I like following them for seeing the kind of merch and stuff that's going on the hardcore and punk scene another
one Chase Shoebridge probably one of my biggest Inspirations when it comes to typography and layout they make some of my favorite posters that I see online and they've been a lot of cool art direction for artists like Deb never overall they have a really good kind of visual style in the way that they use type is really nice blended with texture so check them out and just some general resources that Kell Lauren pitch guide for pitching people in the merch industry podcasts I did with Chase shoe bridge and then the yellow button who is this
Instagram account that does music recommendations you can check them out maybe find some bands that need design work and hit them up Esports this Niche skews very young but seems to be something that you can get into especially you have a love for gaming and it almost seems all self-taught that seems like one of the best paths to go down for this especially chatting with the fellow designer George Nowak he's told me that a lot of that stuff the most important thing for the Esports field is just being online and working in the kind of
gaming World lots of growth opportunity in this Niche with just being online and connecting with younger people I don't know too much about it and the past you can go down however some other people you can check out to look to for some of this stuff especially George Noah whack on YouTube Jedi Greg on Twitch and then cesso HQ as well on YouTube they're both designers who've worked for some of the biggest Esports people like 100 thieves George has this full-time Esports designer video that just kind of outlines how to get into this stuff you
can check out games like valorent OverWatch and how they've kind of branded all the different Esports around those games I think that's good inspiration for how you can build worlds in this Niche lots of the logo design typography and Motion Graphics and stuff too stuff you'd learn from those niches would apply well to Esports so learn some about that stuff you should be good so this next Niche is poster design it's not necessarily a career Niche but it's definitely the most popular form of design that we see online you can create a successful freelance career
out of poster design as well as having a more artist relationship with your audience and selling prints and things like that lots of people got into Design This Way with posting on Instagram and doing things like a 365 poster Challenge and I think it's a very accessible for my design and something that can be elevated all the way from the beginners to the most advanced designers some designers you can check out online my friend Ram overset text he did a giant 365 poster challenge a lot of cool vintage ad type stuff artwork Blends a lot
of typography collage and vintage cars toasted by Eli creates this cool illustration Style mixed with typography that's kind of inspirational messages and just cool shareable stuff Caroline detool Post Punk kind of grunge style poster design CEO barando he creates this really cool kind of typographic style but also mixed with these weird shapes and stretch type and color and just does some cool reels too as well of him making posters and printing them out all large that's really cool and then Concepcion Studios they create this kind of Swiss design remake of a bunch of old movies
or new shows and they kind of do it in this cool minimal style some general resources to check out are just Swiss design and the international typographic movement Saul bass poster designs and then this other designer Rafael codies I believe he did this all movie poster project where he created alts for all these really cool movie posters those are really good to check out so this next Niche is the streetwear fashion slash merch design I kind of combined them all because there's different Avenues you can go down within this you can either be working on
your own company or for a popular brand or creating merch for clients but I think they all kind of have the same set of skills I'm very sought after also similar to the music industry and Albemarle it's something that people really want to do and seems very rewarding and just kind of overall cool and a cool thing to do online it's helpful to know kind of printing skills and color separation and Screen Printing and stuff like that it's not necessarily needed for just the design side of things but it helps if you want to be
creating your own stuff and people you can check out are Jake pressure they do a lot of cool stuff for Merch when it comes to just in the gaming world as well as for different online creators like YouTubers Bobby hundreds one of the co-creators of the hundreds looked to him for just an overall massive wool of inspiration when it comes to creating countless and countless graphics and just running a successful streetwear and design company over like a long period of time Gavin South they have a really cool brand that also is an inspiration for illustration
and animation as well blazes they make these cool kind of rip off of like other famous things you would see it's kind of like a bootleg style brand that is just always kind of pushing the envelope and making weird Creations I don't see anyone else doing Mona Thomas for her super cool brand huni and all the really kind of innovative stuff she's doing with product design like glasses and custom hoodies and just stuff that seems to sell instantly and is very sought after and then one of my favorites worn Lotus who creates these awesome kind
of school illustration graphics and has been doing it for a while a lot of cool stuff he's done with the NBA and just uh seems like a good person when it comes to marketing as well you can learn from some general resources The Virgil free game website that can get you started if you want to make your own brand or get into design Duran supplies mock-ups good for selling pre-sale stuff if you want to kind of see how something would look before actually sending it to production Cal Lawrence different merch design videos they're super helpful
brima has these YouTube videos on getting into Screen Printing and different types of clothing creation stuff the interview I did with Mona Thomas that one she talks about some of her process and the aspirations she has for the huni brand that's good to learn from studio and a also has a YouTube series he's doing on streetwear design and that I think can be super helpful for someone wanting to start their own brand this next Niche is brand identity and logo design probably one of the most popular niches designers get into something that I was into
for a long time and still am with some of my client work lots of opportunities for high paying clients and creating whole Design Systems when it comes to branding and something that will always be needed sometimes it can be a a little more boring and sometimes it can be very rewarding and fun but no matter what it's always a niche that pays very well and is something I think most designers should have under their tool belt you can build relationships with these clients too in the business world and get a lot of work down the
road I'm Adobe Illustrator obviously a great tool to know in this Niche when it comes to also taking your sketches or ideas into the computer and creating Vector designs because it's changing a little bit with the digital world but traditionally logos should be created in vector and I think illustrator is the best program for that and if you want a free resource you can also check out inkscape it's a free Vector editing program tons of ways you can kind of go about a career in this working for a studio working for an agency working in-house
on different logo design and branding initiatives as well as working freelance as a kind of just freelance brand identity and logo designer some designers you have to check out for this are definitely Aaron draplin one of my favorite designers of all time and someone who kind of got me into the field to begin with their books super cool and they also have a huge website of all these cool designs they've done in the past and I think they're a big inspiration to a lot of designers today bow new win awesome typographic kind of custom logos
that I really love John Contino for kind of hand-drawn logos and things land as well for some hand-drawn logos as well as kind of stuff that's almost archaeological and has this cool kind of hand done like vintage feel Katrina romulo they create a lot of cool content around brand identity and logo design as well as just cool Brands and logos in general Ethan Fender one of my favorite logo designers on Instagram super cool minimal kind of logo modernist style as well as James Kaufman who kind of has a similar approach to land more hand-drawn kind
of almost like a if cave paintings were logos how it kind of describe his work some easy resources you can check out are Richie moons reels and tick tocks who creates a lot of cool tutorials that are easy to follow on illustrator and some process stuff this PDF dial link that has all these cool old vintage trademark logos the giant logo modernism book which is always a constant source of inspo ram by hand great book collecting some of John contino's best work as well as his approach to design and kind of his life story pretty
much everything that Aaron droplin book and then the logo Lounge Trend report we're kind of seeing the different trends of logos throughout the different years and the creator of this does a really good job at breaking down and giving these things kind of names and characteristics so this next Niche is design products assets and software I don't really know what to call it but it's something that has emerged a lot with the digital kind of takeover of design it's similar to creating fonts for designers but you can supply products that designers need and use to
help their process this could be a full-time thing or a side thing but either way I think it's a good way of being in the design field and also helping other designers and creating your own projects and it's infinitely scalable so especially if you're just selling digital stuff people you can look to for this are Black Market who runs one of the most successful versions of this their ink lab plugin I use a bunch all their textures their copy scan textures are probably one of the most used things by younger designers on Instagram fullermo for
mock-ups and merch design stuff or if you're trying to create stuff in the music industry he's super helpful as well and he has YouTube videos that are tutorials and walking through his products and just teaching you tips true great texture Supply they have a ton of cool plugins textures brushes all kinds of things albemar archive similar a lot of stuff for Photoshop gradient Maps textiles textures and whatnot and other good resources the interview I did with black market who kind of talks about how he got into this and working on that and transitioning to from
a more acid-based thing all the way into like coding and plugins and software for designers this next Niche I didn't know exactly what to call it because it's more of just a style but it's like this Punk DIY type of design and you know kind of Strays away from the traditional design but it's just this cool in its own way kind of a completely different approach to learning and University or online resources is takes some more Grassroots approach and just kind of learning either printing through like Xerox or copying or collage or just in Photoshop
but giving it a more just yeah like DIY aesthetic and something that anyone can kind of do the main thing I'm kind of thinking of is a Xerox style kind of poster design and album art and what's funny is those weren't even created by professional artists or designers at the time and they're still influencing people including myself all the way up to today so it's a good Testament for showing that like anyone can get into this field and create cool stuff from amazing designers to check out real quick that I can go through it's cludge
really cool collage type stuff and just a nice kind of no-nonsense fun approach to creating these cool little Graphics Jeremy Dean created a lot of cool stuff for punk bands in the music industry for Ferrari they do a cool job of bringing the this kind of style into a more Digital World mixing both analog and digital Raymond Pettibone who created all the awesome Black Flag Graphics Jim Madison they do this little screen printing Style with licensed Rat Fink illustrations Foie Graphics is another great one they do this little Zine style type of typography and marker
illustration that's scanned in and kind of repurposed and I think they have a really cool shareable and both like style that resonates with a lot of people some resources you could check out Are The [ __ ] Up and photocopied book a lot of cool old punk Flyers that are archived embracing Randomness and a talk that Christo did with Chris Ashworth that's super cool and torquerzine someone azine that's made by one of my friends Ruben perciado that kind of is reminiscent of this style he's a photographer but he uses this kind of DIY Punk style
design to make his scenes and I think it illustrates what I'm talking about really well so there's two more niches I have and this one is motion design lots of opportunities to take the normal General design skills and turn them into animation whether it be full-on animation stuff for social media title treatment graphics for movies whatever it may be I think it's a very sought after skill and helpful to know is both a freelancer in-house or working for an agency After Effects seems to be the most popular program to use so some people you can
check out to learn more about this are not voice they do a really cool style that animates typography and really cool for gifs and Social Media stuff Imani larussa who does cool stuff in the music industry the nft space and stuff that's more of a larger animated projects that are these kind of like you know what you would think from full-fledged animations um Geo who creates similar stuff to Matt voice but in a different style anime and typography with some kind of fun messaging Marcus Magnuson they create these cool walking type of animated characters and
it's a different style it's more blending illustration with animation Tony Babel they create these like cuphead style illustrations really cool cool they have really nice Loops stuff that you can just look at for hours on Twitter and Instagram Ben Marriott is a really good resource too for learning After Effects and just all kinds of things on YouTube about the motion design field so this last one is content creation obviously this is something that's emerged in every Niche or Hobby in the world and Designs no exception and I think alongside being the actual graphic designer the
content side of things is something that can actually become a career or at the very least a side thing tons of designers including myself have pursued this I think especially during covid it kind of opened up the idea of putting stuff out online that's not just finished design or client work I think everyone who's a designer is pretty much creating content these days if they're creating any type of personal work reels YouTube videos or whatever that they're posting you have time I think it's a good kind of side hustle or something that just helps you
brush up on your skills helps you connect with other people you know online and just I think everyone has something to offer I think YouTube or writing a newsletter or creating reels is kind of part of the future of Art and Design and if it's something that you kind of embrace rather than completely go against I think it'll help you in the long run besides myself some other designers to check out who create cool content are Elliot ohm they've been creating a bunch of cool YouTube videos I have been doing very well talking about design
and burnout and style their different design Styles and things like that Chris doe obviously and all his stuff with the future tons Archive of content learning about design marketing font creation what to charge for design work and things like that swoop nebula they kind of create these cool little skits on reels and Tick Tock that kind of teach you something but are also visually entertaining Abby conic they were one of my Inspirations when getting into YouTube they create great kind of entertaining YouTube videos about design freelancing branding and just kind of overall creativity I think
they put their videos together very well you learn something but it's also you know engaging and entertaining dread labs are another inspiration operation of mine when I first got into YouTube they do a kind of tool tutorials and the kind of wide 2K space as well as poster design and illustration they post a lot so there's a lot of content there for you to check out and just some other General resources um Katrina romulo who I mentioned earlier edgy Katrina on IG they have a ton of cool reels that I think are good example of
content that can be made it's actually good in the design World a thousand true fans a great article that I think anyone who's trying to connect with an audience should read I'm calling in Samir who create YouTube videos about different content creators but it's less than the design space but I think there's stuff to learn there and then if you want to see a streaming version of design and kind of content creation then check out Elliot is a cool guy's twitch if you enjoyed this video hit that subscribe button for more everything I mentioned will
be linked and at a Google doc in the description feel free to share this video and that doc with others you have any insight in your Niche or style that we could learn from feel free to drop that in the comments thank you for watching and I'll see you next time
