any time is good but in general you want to visit in the shoulder months I'm talking about those months of spring and Autumn when it's not too hot and it's not too cold and there are not too many tourists in those hot summer months now I would recommend coming maybe in April or May and perhaps the later months I'm talking September October or if you want to plan a summer vacation and really Savor this Spanish Sunshine well consider visiting up in the north I'm talking about in Galicia in astorias in the pies Vasco in The
Basque Country those areas are a little bit cooler in the summer months which airports to fly to well if you're coming from the U.S consider flying to the big airports I'm talking about Barcelona or Madrid in Barcelona you can base yourself there explore the Gowdy sites and everything along the east coast of Spain from Madrid you can easily get flights to anywhere else in Spain and you can go crazy traveling around all the corners of the country if you're coming from within Europe or once you're already in Spain it's great because Europe has a lot
of low-cost Airlines in Spain look for a company called Welling it can get you around to wherever you want to go what about the trains well train travel in Spain is super easy especially if you're already in Madrid because from there the high-speed train the Ave or the Ave it branches out everywhere from Madrid to the north to Leon to the east to Barcelona Valencia or down to the South to Malaga it's a network of around 3 000 kilometers and will definitely suit your needs if you're heading to those bigger cities if you want to
have a little bit more freedom and get out and explore those Pueblos those hidden towns will consider renting a car and renting and driving a car in Spain is super easy it reminds me a lot of the American southwest big wide open roads and unlike Spain or unlike Italy there are not many tolls so you don't have to pay much just for the fuel and the road conditions well they're great nothing compared to Italy with potholes everywhere [Music] what about accommodations well here's my recommendation if you have a one or two night stay in a
city I would go at the hotel because you get 24 hours seven days a week receptions you have someone there to answer all your questions how to navigate around a city where are the best restaurants Etc now if you have longer night stays I would consider an Airbnb those are cool because you can spread out your things you get a little bit more space traditionally in airbnbs and you get to see what it's like to live in some of these cool old apartments that are around the city center also gives you the ability he to
stay at home one or two nights if you don't want to go out to the restaurants and you can cook at home also you can make your breakfast at home for hotels I use the app booking.com to find the best deals and for Airbnb well you go to the Airbnb app what about itineraries well I have five different options for you if you're coming over to Spain on a seven day trip one option is base yourself around Madrid there's a lot to see and do in Spain's capital also you can get out to those satellite
cities and make a few day trips I'm talking about going to Toledo which used to be the capital of Spain or Avila which has all those beautiful walls or Segovia which is famous for its Roman aqueducts the other option I would suggest for you is basing yourself around Barcelona there well you got the city of Gowdy the Sagara Familia the big church or you can cruise up and down the Costa Brava and visit some of the towns like closed captioning not available to the seaside you can also cruise over to San Sebastian the town made
famous by Hemingway and The Sun Also Rises from there you can easily get to Pamplona as well for the running of the bulls San Sebastian has that big long stretch of beach Pamplona has so many bars you can dive in and out of and Bilbao is this emerging a modern city coming out of the Industrial Age was so much to offer let's talk about how to stay safe when you're traveling how are you going to be insured in case you have a problem and for that I use safety Wing their policy The Nomad Insurance it
works pretty darn well it covers you in one policy for multiple countries also covers you in your home country if you're briefly traveling home during all your travels and the great thing is you can buy it when you're already abroad after you've begun your travels there's a link that you can click on down below that'll take you directly to their site to check out their offers what about currency how you going to pay for those sangriaas those Tapas or any sort of souvenirs you want to buy on your way when you're here in Spain well
you always want to carry a little bit of cash and my recommendation always when you're visiting foreign countries is to hit up a bank ATM machine like one of these right here pull out some cash and my advice when you're doing that use your bank card from home make sure before you travel that it's set up so you can use it abroad call your local bank and let them know you'll be traveling abroad when you're pulling out money from the machine don't accept their conversion go with your own bank's conversion that'll save you a little
bit in those conversion fees you're going to get hit every time you pull out money with like a two Euro fee from the ATM so I suggest when you do pull out money pull out a relatively large amount so you don't have to pull out multiple times and get hit with that fee so that's how you get cash when you're here on the ground and another option is if you want to get some of those Euro bills before you leave your home country we'll visit your bank and get some but what I always do is
I hit the ATM the bank machine as soon as I land in the airport of the country I'm visiting now most places in Spain these days take credit cards but you're always going to want to have a little bit of those Euros in your pockets for for small places if you're buying some trinkets or if you just find out that your credit card is not working and you have some cash and you're ready to go in a jam if you're finding this video useful please give it a thumbs up it helps out with all the
YouTube algorithm and if you haven't yet subscribe to the channel so you're not missing out on any of my upcoming videos and help get this video and all my videos out to a larger audience [Music] foreign is bring a small bag I see so many foreigners tourists in Europe lugging around big backs through the ancient city centers you have to consider in Europe we don't have those big wide sidewalks that we could have in other countries like the United States also many times you'll be arriving to the city center at the train station and then
it doesn't make sense to take a taxi to your hotel because it's only 500 400 meters away but those 500 400 meters that means you're pulling your all your luggage and you have your backpack on through the city streets so it's going to be important to have something lightweight and you don't over pack don't take too many clothes items a couple of pairs of pants couple pairs of t-shirts a light jacket two pairs of underwear two pairs of socks for a seven day trip and a little bit of laundry detergent you can always wash things
in your Airbnb or your hotel as the trip progresses as my good friend once told me travel light and travel far you need to consider how you're going to stay connected to your power and recharge all your items when you're traveling about in Spain the United States runs on 110 volts Europe on 220. I'm not talking about bringing a voltage converter you need to bring an adapter for your plugs so you can plug in all your items to those funny Outlets that we have here in Europe so my recommendation before you travel is go to
Amazon and buy some of those power adapters I'll put links down in the description for some adapters that I use when I travel also you can buy a power strip plug your power strip into that one adapter then you can plug all of your us or your home country's items into that home country power strip so you don't need as many adapters another suggestion is always carry a battery pack to recharge your smartphone and other portable devices when you're out and about sightseeing because when you're traveling you're using your smartphone so much more for Google
directions for taking photos for capturing those memories and again I put a link to a battery pack I would recommend as well as adapters down in the description below so you can check those out and be ready for your trip let's talk food for a minute get ready to have a feast when you get here in Spain from morning breakfast lunch and all the way till dinner and adjust your hours because it's a little bit slower lifestyle here and people eat later hours dinner can be served from 9 pm up to midnight as an example
but Feast have some of that paella valenciana the Jamon ibirico gazpacho patatas bravas tortillas which you can find at breakfast you also get it during the Tapas hours and of course the churros that you can dip in chocolate it makes a nice little treat to go along with a coffee or something like that and then the wines Rioja Ribera ah there's so much to love of course like the sangrias as well you can really enjoy yourself in Spain also if you haven't heard I'm putting out a regular email newsletter with travel tips and hacks and
all sorts of other information that you may not find here on the YouTube channel there's a link to sign up to that email in the description below also while you're down there consider becoming a channel member to get customized badges to go next to all your comments prioritize replies to your comments and these little emojis that change colors with the length of time that you're a member to show your loyalty also you get early bird viewing to my videos before they're live to the general public make sure you plan ahead especially when visiting in the
High season in those summer months because there can be a lot of lines also the restaurants may be booked up so you want to call early to get those reservations and you want to be early and buy those tickets early to get in those places like sergada Familia Alhambra and Granada or the Royal Palace in Madrid or the Grand Mosque in Cordoba my train has arrived with a little bit of planning and thinking ahead you can really make your vacation go a lot smoother and Ensure that you get to those top sites and you get
into those great restaurants and have a just a delicious meal and a good time [Music] foreign [Music] you're in Europe you need to make sure you have internet on your telephone so to do that before you leave your home country well check your Roman plan because many of the providers in the United States for example offer roaming abroad at a pretty inexpensive rate so you can get a whole bunch of data if not unlimited data with your roaming plan now that's not an option another option for you is when you get to Europe buy a
SIM card now make sure your phone has a free SIM card slot or you have to pull out your home SIM card and put in your new SIM card now bear in mind you're gonna have to have an unlocked phone for that that one phone that takes new SIM cards so you can use it I like going this option because this way you get inexpensive data in that country you're visiting and you know the data connection is always fast and of course the cheapest option is just rely on Wi-Fi networks when you're at the hotel
or when you're in bars and restaurants but this can be difficult at times and you're going to want to have connection on your phone when you're going around so you can look at Google Maps and look up recommendations for hotels and restaurants hmm Cafe Con Leche and of course another option is to buy a little Wi-Fi device that you can put a local SIM card in and it emits a Wi-Fi signal that way you and your friends and family can all connect to that one Wi-Fi device I'll put an Amazon link down in the description
for one that I recommend so you can buy that before you start your vacation before you arrive in Spain in the airport it's important that you know a little bit of Spanish some Spanish phrases like hola hello como estas how are you bien gracias I'm good thank you como te llamas what's your name mayamo Greger my name is Gregor Encantado nice to meet you por favor please gracias thank you very much and adios so there you have it an arsenal of travel tips to unlock the true essence of Spain now you can embark on your
