several of you have reached out to me directly to ask if I can provide details on the best way to use custom gpts within chat GPT to sell so one of the major issues sales people face other than lots of administrative burden is the amount of preparation required for a big sales meeting or proposal the custom GPT example I describe here is applied to business to business selling but it can very easily translate to business to Consumer selling as well as long as you have a few minutes to prepare yourself prior to meeting the individual
so let's buckle up and get into okay so the first thing you're going to see here is I've actually already created this GPT but don't worry we're going to jump into all the details so let's open up the sidebar quickly we'll go into the explor gpts and then we'll select my gpts and then from there you can see that the top one here is the sales meeting preparation and again when we go in here if you watch my prior videos on this screen you can either create or configure and I of course choose to configure
because the create module is kind of useless so let's jump into configuring this and right from the start you can see that I've named it a sales meeting preparation you can just quickly name it something then in the description try and provide yourself a little bit of insight into what this thing actually does because once you have a bunch of gpts it can be difficult to remember which one does what so next thing we're going to do is hop into the instructions and I'm going to expand this screen so we can see some of the
specifics here again if you watch any of my other videos you know that I like to Prime the chat or the GPT to let it know first that we're going to provide it some information that we wanted to ingest and then from there we're going to give it some series of details that we want it to consume so it knows more about our process and what we're looking to accomplish and then from there we're going to actually have it do several action steps so you can see here I say once you've ingested this information I'm
going to ask you to provide me with the content based on the information I've provided okay so let's jump into the context section in this section instead of actually just creating dummy information I popped in my my own product here because U I already built this GPT and I guess Shameless plug I just didn't feel like creating new stuff and this one works so let's just use it so for the context as you know this is really critical to let the GPT know what things you're trying to accomplish who you are what you're selling product
names you can put competitors all sorts of things like that in here for my example I'm saying I'm a salesperson for lot and AI I'm planning for a very important sales meeting with a potential customer I would like you to help me fully prepare for this meeting next I provide the fundamentals of my product and what we're doing here we are a business to business software as a service company with an important marketing product our product includes the following key features and benefits so then I move down to the next line firstly and most importantly
I say it identifies 90% of anonymous visitors to any website then I go on to say our solution provides 30 or more verified data points about website visitors including their name email address city state company phone number LinkedIn URL Etc then I talk about compliance I say this product is 100% compliant with gdpr can spam and CCPA so website owners don't need to worry about legal issues lastly and probably most importantly I say it also works to track Anonymous visitors on social media channels like LinkedIn Facebook Tik Tok and YouTube then I say I've uploaded
product information and full descriptions please review and ingest this uploaded information completely before proceeding to The Next Step okay so when I say uploaded let me show you what I mean by that we're going to drop down into this knowledge section here and you can see a couple of key data points when it comes to the knowledge section please refrain from uploading documents with lots of images please keep in mind that the GPT has no idea what you wanted to focus on if the document includes images of your company headquarters or your sales team the
company pet whatever chat GPT is going to consume that information in the same way that it looks at pricing or value proposition or anything that actually really matters what I like to do is just to use a text based document so we don't confuse the G PT with unnecessary information okay so let's head over to the roll section here I say please act as an online research expert with deep experience researching prospective clients and their company you are completely knowledgeable on the concept of Gap selling from the book called Gap selling by Keenan in the
roll section I like to include the selling methodology that I'm using whether it's snap selling or Challenger selling value selling Gap selling whatever your method I've seen chat GPT be able to align my materials with any of the major selling approaches simply Define the methodology in the r section so then I say now that you've ingested that information here are the action steps I want you to take if you don't understand any of the input you receive during this process please ask for clarification instead of making assumptions again this is important because we don't want
chat GPT making educated guesses we'd rather just ask us okay so let's quickly head into the steps that we're going to have it do number one I'm going to provide you with the name and the company name of the prospective buyer number two please ask me to provide provide you with any data on the customer that you can process number three once I provide this information please ingest it take your time doing this number four this is important after you've completely ingested the information please request any additional information on the prospective client that you may
or may not have been included in the uploaded documents this information could include the URL for the company website the LinkedIn URL for the prospective customer and any other information that you believe relevant to complete a comprehensive pre-sales report then for number five be sure to include the additional information you request with the prior information you have already ingested once you have finished ingesting all the information please ask me if I ready for you to create the pre-sales report number six if I provide additional information continue ingesting that information until I indicate that I'm ready
for you to create the pre-sales report next let's move over to format format please remember this report should be created using the Gap selling method from the book called Gap selling it should focus on a identifying and closing gaps in the buyer's current situation create this pre-sales report in a professional format with text blocks and bullet points please do not include single or double quotations please do not explain the content you have provided lastly we talk about target audience in this case the target audience is me for this particular report so I say the report
you are generating is for me as I mentioned I'm a sales representative who's looking to close a deal with this prospective buyer all right cool so we've got all the instructions populated so let's close this out and head back to the main screen for the GPT okay so the last thing we're going to do on the GPT main screen is head down to the capabilities section here I just want to make sure that I have the web browsing button checked and I leave the other two blank because we don't really need those for this particular

okay so now we're back where we started sales meeting preparation GPT we've seen how it's configured let's see how it works again just for the sake of keeping this simple I'm just going to do this report about me and about my company as the target for this new product so at the top left you drop that down you can choose a new chat if you haven't already already and then down in the bottom here I'm going to start out in the dialogue box with something that I pre-wrote so we'll populate that into this section it
says I'm working on a sales presentation for Brian he's the owner of lot and solutions when you are ready I will provide you with the information about Brian and his company so we're going to hit send message and push play on this GPT and see how it performs okay so once we get it going it says please provide me with the information about Brian and his company lot and solutions so I can assist you further cool we're on our way the next thing I'm going to do is hop over to my LinkedIn page and grab
the URL which we're going to populate into the dialogue box now after I've populated the LinkedIn URL into the dialogue box I'm going to jump over to the company website and grab the URL from that and drop that in the dialogue box as well once I've got the LinkedIn URL for the company owner as well as the company website I say based on this information please create the sales report please take your time to ingest all the information on the website provided prior to starting all right cool so here you can see it says doing
resear search with Bing it's actually going to those websites and checking out the information and it looks like it's going to give me a little blurb on lot and solutions which is great once it's provided me with the blurb on lot and solutions it then ask me if I'm ready to proceed with the pre-sales report I say please reced and off we go again I'm going to speed up this section so you don't have to wait for it to populate and then we'll go through it section by section so you can see what it came
up with Okay so this looks really cool let's jump back to the start and go Section by by section to see what it did to make sure it works the way we want it to so at the top here you can see it's a pre-sales report for Brian owner of lot and solutions it includes the industry Focus marketing strategies and tools and techniques the next thing we see are the identified gaps for the prospective customer in this case visitor identification data utilization and compliance and Integrations the next thing we see here is how the lot
and AI solution fits in with the prospective customer lot and solutions so the first thing it says is anonymous visitor identification our solution's capability to identify 90% of anonymous visitors aligns perfectly with the need to capture more leads about without requiring them to fill out forms cool next piece is about enhanced data points providing 30 or more verified data points it's really valuable then we talk about compliance and social media tracking all really good stuff lastly we get into the recommendations and here based on the pricing sheet that I provided as an upload you can
see that it's saying that we should use the growth plan as this is most aligned with lot and solutions particular need and then of course the last thing we've got here is next steps talks about a demo presentation customization discussion and a trial period so all great stuff that we can use in our sales presentation and move this forward some key takeaways for gpts number one I kept this very simple for the sake of brevity you can do way more advanced stuff in the open AI playground if you use the assistant there please shoot me
a comment if you'd like any help with that number two this GPT won't work perfectly from the start you'll need to specify language that works for your industry your products your customers so be patient and run through a few iterations number three you need to balance the amount of information you are sharing while technically chat gbt can ingest more data now keep your information focused on the elements that provide the GPT with the most value number four oftentimes I run into issues with the GPT conducting online searches in that case I simply run the GPT
