Blackbeard is the greatest villain in One Piece, embodying what it truly means to be a pirate. And I know it seems crazy since Luffy is the main character, but I genuinely think that Blackbeard is the man closest to becoming the Pirate King. He’s terrifying, he’s strong, and he’s a vicious pirate who will seemingly do anything to accomplish his goals.
He’s killed his daddy, fought Shanks, and is currently roaming the sea claiming the Poneglyphs. And so I’ve been thinking recently, how close IS he to finding Laugh Tale? We know that all the Yonko are currently hunting it down, and Shanks and Luffy are really close.
But Teach ALSO has to be on the edge of glory, right? He’s the big bad, the man who’s destined to battle Luffy in the final war—probably. So let’s really put that to the test and TRULY see if Blackbeard has what it takes to claim the One Piece.
There are five things anyone hoping to claim the greatest treasure needs, and they are: power, a strong crew, the Poneglyphs, a way to read them, and one secret special thing I’ll talk about at the end that a lot of people seem to forget about. So Teach, do you think you’ve got what it takes? Huh?
HUH? Well, when it comes to power, Blackbeard is definitely pretty freaking strong. I mean, I think it gets overlooked a lot, but he is the guy who permanently scarred Shanks and is actively the man Shanks views as the greatest threat on the ocean.
I don’t know about you guys, but to me, that’s legitimately a terrifying thought. That means without crazy devil fruits, without god-tier haki, this man still has SOME sort of trick up his sleeve that lets him get the best of Shanks. Plus, he’s got to be durable or at least have something sneaky going on that lets him survive an interaction with Shanks, who we know is generally a cutthroat man.
Seriously, the dude stopped the Summit War by just dropping by, he is considered by Kaido to be one of the greats, and Shanks even one-shot a three billion berry bounty Useless Kid, who had just squared up with Big Mom for an entire evening weeks prior. So he’s definitely on a level that surpasses the average Yonko— and Blackbeard walked away from him ALIVE. Im fairly confident that deep down, somewhere beneath that weird looking face of his, he’s got something dark and powerful going on, that’s for sure.
But we knew that, of course, since he literally has two of the most broken devil fruits out there! And considering you’re only allowed to have one fruit at a time, without… you know… exploding! This means Blackbeard 100% has some special power.
Marco says it’s because of his special body, and while we still don’t know what that means, we know one thing for sure. It makes Blackbeard one of the MOST POWERFUL pirates alive. The dude can rip apart the ocean and shatter islands with his Quake Quake powers and then go ahead and create dark voids and black holes and negate devil fruit powers with his Darkness fruit abilities.
Plus, he’s not bad when it comes to win-loss records either. Seriously, for some reason people think he’s a fraud, and I think it probably stems from his absence and general fear of the Seraphim when they were introduced. But as we saw, even Luffy and Zoro weren’t able to just casually defeat these wicked angels when they fought them on Egghead.
When you actually put the fights Blackbeard is in on paper, you can see that he’s capable of defeating Law, Boa Hancock, the revolutionary army, and the remaining Whitebeard pirates. And while we are on that subject, it’s still not exactly known WHY Blackbeard was trying to go after Boa’s fruit, or why he wants to be a king recognized by the world government, but based on his previous plans to become a warlord to gain access to Impel down well- I think he’s got something devious cooking behind the scenes. So I think it’s safe to say, Blackbeard, you have the power of God and anime on your side.
And I think geniunely the scariest part of him is his potential. He keeps going after devil fruits and taking down strong fighters, and if he CAN eat a third fruit like a moon god fruit or a mythical zoan like theorists assume, well he’s going to be NEXT LEVEL broken. So we’ve now established that Blackbeard has got the sick moves and epic powers: but none of matters if his crew is lackluster.
I mean, we know Roger had one of the greatest crews on the sea, and the man closest to the One Piece, Whitebeard, had a massive fleet capable of invading Marineford. Plus, it seems that Rocks was someone chasing after the One Piece as well. I am pretty confident in this based on the fact that Sengoku called him a man who committed the greatest “taboo”.
And that works choice is VERY specifically used in one piece, as it’s almost always used to which describe the act of pursuing the true history. Rocks had a crew unlike any other, and so it goes to show that he also would have thought a powerful group was necessary to make it to Laugh Tale. Ultimately, it’s clear that you need incredibly strong allies to claim the One Piece, and so the question for this video is: does Blackbeard have this type of crew on his side?
Well, the short answer is yes, absolutely, and I can say that without any questions. If you thought I was going to say anything else, I don’t think you’ve been watching or reading the series. Blackbeard’s crew might literally be the most broken group of people sailing the high seas, besides like.
. . Shanks himself.
And since we’ve already covered that Red Hair doesn’t seem confident in his abilities to defeat Teach, his crew must be a true nightmare. Let’s just talk about some of the heaviest hitters, and I think you’ll see what I am truly talking about. He’s got Van Auger, a marksman capable of hitting targets miles away and teleporting with his warp-warp fruit.
His vision is also impeccable, seeing as he shot three birds from an extremely far distance and could even comment that one of them hadn’t died yet. There’s also Shiryu, the former head jailer of Impel Down. That job title alone shows that he is a broken character, as some of the strongest warriors on the ocean, like Shiki, Jimbei, and Ace, were locked in its lowest levels.
And this dude was deemed strong enough to handle that level of threat. Not to mention the only other head jailer we’ve seen, Shiryu’s Successor, Magellan, literally bodied EVERYONE, INCLUDING BLACKBEARD, during this arc. Seriously the dude has admiral level strength, and Shiryu is on par, if not greater in strength than him.
Shiryu is also one of the stealthiest characters around, as seen by his ability to sneak around Impel Down before he even received his devil fruit, the Clear Clear fruit. You know, the fruit that makes him an INVISIBLE swordsman. That’s good, yeah…that’s good, man.
Let’s just give the busted sword wielder who murders for fun the power of invisibility; that’s not broken or anything. We’ve seen him easily defeat a warlord like Gecko Moria, he’s confident enough to try and battle Garp the Fist, and be praised highly by Teach when they first met each other. He’s one of the scariest members on this crew, and easily boosts the Blackbeard fleet up in power just by hanging around.
And if that wasn’t already enough to prove Blackbeard has a wickedly powerful crew, there’s also the living battleship San Juan Wolf, a giant with the power to grow BIGGER than an island. Or Catarina Devon, a mythical zoan user who can use their ninetail fox powers to disguise themselves as anyone they’ve touched- which now includes St Saturn after the Egghead island arc. But if that isn’t tickling your fancy, don’t worry, there is also Stronger!
You know, this sad, pathetic horse who at the pegasus fruit. Yeah, they’re not all winners, but hey, he brings some comic relief to the squad. Unlike the ice-cold demon, Kuzan.
Seriously, he’s probably one of the raddest dudes in the series. He likes some big oppai, throwing back a few cold ones with the boys, and oh yeah, is a former marine admiral capable of freezing half of an island. Yeah, I don’t see it talked about enough, but the man casually took down Cracker, the sweet commander, and froze all of Chocolat town, and he is also the man who permanently turned half of Punk Hazard into a frosty wasteland.
He’s also got absolutely busted haki, capable of squaring up with Garp in a one-on-one and fighting ten days straight against the current fleet admiral, Akainu, who has a MAGMA fruit. I think it says a lot about a man if he’s capable of using ice to hold off lava for over a week. Needless to say, Blackbeard’s crew might be the most terrifying thing about him, besides his dental hygiene.
After going over all of that, I think we can all agree Blackbeard has a group capable of claiming the one piece. Especially when you consider Hachinosu is still growing in strength and members as time goes on. But I actually have the strongest crew known to man, and they’re called the Ohara Patrons.
They have crazy future sight, capable of seeing content nobody else can, early chapter reviews, and a new podcast, Drnks Sake, before anyone else. Luckily, we are looking for new members, so head over there and join the crew; you won’t regret it! Alright, we’ve covered what Blackbeard and his crew need to be capable of to “claim” the One Piece based on other historical figures and crews, but there’s actually something WAY harder to pull off if you want to get that treasure.
You need to find the map itself, the Road Poneglyphs, and those are definitely one of, if not THE hardest step depending on who you ask. Across the entire Grand Line, there are giant red blocks that reveal the location of Laugh Tale, the final island. According to Roger, this is where the One Piece is hidden, and so it seems pretty simple.
Find the blocks, go to the island, get the treasure. Easy peasy! Well, no, not really, unfortunately.
These blocks are hidden in TRULY the wildest places, like on top of Zunesha, a giant elephant who carries an entire nation on his back that hides one of the Poneglyphs. Now I previously touched on it, but a very important part of this problem is the fact that it seems like Rocks D. Xebec was someone who previously searched for the One Piece.
And why would that be such an Issue you ask? Well, the big dilemma here is that if this was the case, or possibly just because of Roger, a lot of the former Rocks Pirates happened to steal and hide the Poneglyphs for themselves after Roger died. For example, Big Mom and Kaido both had a Poneglyph hidden, meaning you previously needed to defeat two of the most powerful Yonko to get your hands on these Poneglyphs.
And Blackbeard just couldn’t seem to pull that off, or didn’t really want to? So he was pretty high and dry for the longest time when it comes to having the map to Laugh Tale. So that’s it, right?
He’s far from having the Poneglyphs and has no chance of claiming all that wealth, fame, and power. Nope! He’s an evil jerk and just stole all of them?
Or more accurately, he stole the Poneglyph rubbings, which are copies of the poneglyphs that have been written down. In case you forgot, he beat Law’s ass and took his copies of the Poneglyphs from Zou, Big Mom’s and Kaido’s during the Egghead Island incident. This means that Blackbeard, just like Luffy and Shanks, has three of the four Poneglyphs and is on the verge of claiming the One Piece.
Or I guess I WOULD say that’s the case if the final poneglyph wasn’t hidden behind the mysterious Man Marked by Flames. He is an infamous traveler who sails the sea in an all-black ship, creating whirlpools that consume anyone who comes close. And seeing as NOBODY knows who it is, this part might be the biggest hurdle during the final saga.
Shiryu and Aokiji believe it could be a marine; theorists argue it’s Drgon or MY MAN, SCOPPER GABAN, or, based on Elbaf, it could even be a holy knight. The mysterious Figure in the chapter 1121 spread about contenders for the One Piece seems to line up very well with the Shanks Doppleganger, and seeing as there’s ONE missing poneglyph, and this ONE guy is hidden, my guess is that he might have it and that’s why he’s in the running. All I know is whoever gets their hands on this poneglyph has a MASSIVE advantage to claiming the one piece, and Blackbeard seems to have the biggest head start, seeing as he was looking for him before Wano even started.
But I hate to admit it, even getting them wouldn’t be enough for someone to find Laugh Tale. They’d need a way to read them, since it was revealed they are written in an ancient language only old Kozuki clan members like Sukiyaki can read and write, or Nico Robin, who studied them on Ohara. Without one of these people, deciphering the map is impossible.
Unless you have a member of the three-eyed tribe, a group of people who can access the voice of all things and decipher the poneglyphs that way. And yeah, you guessed it, Blackbeard has ONE! He stole her, that dastardly pirate, and with her, he’s arguably the closest out of anyone now.
Thanks to Charlotte Pudding, who was captured by Admiral Kuzan, Blackbeard has everything someone would need on paper to claim the One Piece, except for that final Poneglyph. Sorry, Pudding, your powers are going to get misused, and I only hope Sanji can help you once this is all over. Maybe if you’re lucky, he’ll even save you before this all turns bad!
But I mentioned there was something even more important to finding the One Piece earlier, a secret 5th requirement. So what was I talking about? It’s actually pretty simple; you need to have DRIVE.
Seriously, without a dedicated will and spirit, doing all of this is impossible. And this is most clear in the final cover spread of chapter 1121, where we seem to see the 12 most likely candidates to claim the One Piece. There are the four Yonko, people who EMBODY the will of a pirate better than anyone, so that’s no surprise.
Now this is also a good chance to talk about something missing in this video so far, the Will of D. Based on the fact that Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaido all didn’t pursue the One Piece actively, it’s made me wonder if the Will of D. Is ALSO necessary to claim the One Piece.
I mean we know Roger actively wanted to have a child who would eventually go back to laugh tale, and even married another member of the D. Clan to pull this off. Plus, ever since Imu confirmed the D.
Clan is tied Joyboy and the ancient kingdom, and since we know the Poneglyphs are messages from Joyboy, it might be necessary to have the Will of D. To actually use or activate whatever the One Piece truly is. And if that’s the case, Marshall D.
Teach is definitely closer to claiming this treasure than someone like Kuzan or Buggy. That’s just speculation though, and it seems just as likely that you just need to have powerful Haki and a strong drive to chase your dream, regardless of what it is. Because as we can see, everyone else at the end of chapter 1121 seems to have a SERIOUS willpower when it comes to making their goals a reality.
And based on that, and all of the evidence we’ve seen in the series, I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone on this page ends up being a Conqueror’s Haki user. That could be the final piece necessary to claiming the One Piece! And if that’s the case, well, I don’t know if Blackbeard could do it, since we haven’t technically seen him use it.
But let’s be real, he’s PROBABLY got it… right? But it also might not be a requirement, just something that embodies that will and drive. What’s more important is the person who will claim this final prize HAS to put EVERYTHING they have into claiming it, and Blackbeard has been doing that since day one.
Everything he’s done seems to be part of a master plan, presumably to become king of the world, just like Rocks D. Xebec. He carries his will and even named his ship after him, calling it the Saber of Xebec.
Blackbeard is a man who’s got two things: He’s got the spirit of Xebec pushing him, and he’s absolutely got that DOG IN HIM. But what if that wasn’t a coincidence? What if the reason Blackbeard seems to follow Rocks’ path is BECAUSE he’s literally his servant?
And not just any servant, his loyal sidekick who sailed the seas. What if Blackbeard was Rocks D. Xebec’s dog and finishing what his master started?
! Well, I know it sounds insane, but I promise this theory has legs, and you should check it out here!
