the content creation space is about to hit a Tipping Point with AI tools becoming more accessible every day and the barrier to entry becoming lower and lower and lower we're going to see a huge influx of content that will make today's saturation look like nothing and it got me thinking how do I stand out how do you stand out and how do we all stand out against the wave that is coming uh which is going to be AI generated content and I think the answer to that is finding your unfair Advantage but not just one
it's about stacking multiple small advantages based off your skills insights and resources and knowing how and when to lean into them and when to stop and when to Pivot and when to go into different directions so that you can find this like Golden Haven of of just all of your skills complimenting each other to create the best content that you can create for your exact target audience but this isn't going to be easy to find and I don't think this video is going to provide you with all the answers but what I'm hoping this video
does provide is just some things to think about and some things to implement by showing you some examples of me tackling this idea myself both in the past and in the present because just like you I've always had that vision and dream of where all of my skills attributes knowledge experience and personality combined to allow me to create this content that's just effortless and it just appeals to the right person that just gets me for me and you know I don't even have to think about it and people just love it you know we we
all want to find that we really do and I'll be honest I uh thought I'd figured this out on three separate occasions firstly um when I started creating my Instagram uh Fitness content I was training for an Iron Man and I had previously uh been an amateur boxer for about 8 n years that was like my bread and butter like I was a serious athlete um and I felt like my unfair Advantage was just going through all of the pain and suffering that boxing training brings and applying that into content but you know what uh
that account just um didn't work out just didn't work out and then when I was at twitch I felt like being a streamer and and I was good at war zone and that I was a twitch employee I would kind of have inside knowledge I thought that would give me an unfair advantage to succeed but again just didn't work out and then finally with the resource sharing Niche um I felt like my unfair advantage over a year ago was that I just love research I love just spending all of my hours doing it and I'm
really good at finding Niche tools and I had the streaming background to understand like where to find the tools Etc and now I've run out of Niche tools and now everybody's just covering these mainstream tools like you know from open AR you know chat GPT and now I feel like I've lost my competitive uh Edge there and that's been a hard pill to swallow uh each time um but I don't regret any of of of those shifts like every pivot that I've gone through has forced me to adapt and find and stack new advantages and
I think this is where a lot of creators go wrong instead of treating um these phases as as stepping stones and part of the journey they kind of treat them like failures or worse they they stop and I get it it's frustrating it's always super frustrating to feel like you found the niche and then it stops working and then you kind of just left scratching your head and you have to start again you know I've been there you know I've chased many formats that I have seen working for other people and and then like they
kind of somewhat for me some didn't work for me but in the process I kind of lost my uh identity you know it didn't feel like me I was you know wasn't sure what direction to go in and and just felt like uh giving up and this happened to me when I I streamed on Twitch you know it was more of like a entertainment content and uh I saw people blowing up doing certain things I started copying them and and I just burned myself into the ground because I I didn't feel like that was the
content that that suited me even though I had virality and I had a lot of success it took me months and months and months to realize that actually maybe I'm more of an educational Creator maybe my personality my skills attributes all those things I've talked about suited more education so I had to just start again and and pivot um but luckily it paid off but at the time I was like I've built all of this and I've basically just got a start again um but obviously I'm I'm glad I did that cuz I I did
find success but I've now found myself in a similar position uh uh same but different with Creator resources where now like I said there are more people creating similar content to me I'm I'm now like rethinking my strategy again what's my unfair Advantage here how do I create uh educational content that isn't just talking head and I and I'll discuss this further later on in the video but yeah I'm always asking these questions you know how do I you know stay ahead how do I maintain my unfair advantage and honestly you just have to be
willing to adapt and change constantly if you want to survive if you want to be sustainable you have to evolve cuz like I said sometimes these advantages that you thought you had they just slip away one day your editing style is unique the next thing is not one day that really Niche piece of of knowledge uh that you had um for a sub niche of a sub Niche that is is blown up and now isn't a sub niche of a sub Niche anymore and it's full of creators and so over time I've realized that actually
your unfair advantages is multiple things it's finding different unfair advantages in different Avenues and and constantly seeking them being hungry to learn and and humble yourself um is the mindset that you need to have um and that there's always room to improve uh regardless of of whether you've had success in the past or or not and this has led me to develop these questions in my head to continually ask myself and you can ask these as well to to figure out what your unfair Advantage is and it starts with uh three simple questions and so
the first one is around what can you do that most people can't this isn't just about technical skills but unique combinations maybe you understand productivity and storytelling perhaps you can break down complex topics and make people laugh you really have to think about different things that you're good at and how do they combine together to create this unique advantage and then the second question is what do you know that most people don't this goes deeper than surface level knowledge think about your lived experiences your failures your unexpect Ed connections to things what truths have you
learned from doing things that other people haven't done and then the final third question is how can you combine these elements into content that becomes Uniquely Yours this is where the magic happens to create something that carries your your signature style personality it represents you right and answering these questions requires brutal honesty with yourself you know we need to resist um overestimating our abilities and underestimating the gap between where you are now and where you need to be and the fact that this could take years to close the gap and you need to ask yourself
are you ready for that and so just going back to like my streaming Journey example when I pivoted from actually streaming to streaming education I noticed uh there was a massive Gap in the niche one there wasn't that many people creating short form education and two a lot of them weren't creating it in a polished way the reason why I started to go down the route of of screen recording websites and tools was simply because nobody in the short form streaming education Niche was doing it and I saw that as a gap I saw that
as an opportunity whereas if I teach myself how to essentially edit uh screen recordings in a really nice polished way I would stand out and and that's where I had my initial success um lots of people are now doing it today but when I started doing it um nobody was doing it and at the time that was kind of my unfair advantage and then as I've gone from streaming education more to like Creator resources and opened out into the education nce I've noticed that a lot of educational creators are quite serious um they're a little
bit Bland so I've also seen that maybe this is an opportunity for me to show my personality to be a bit quirky be a bit weird so I've really tried to lean into that as a again a slight unfair advantage in that I don't give a uh what people think about me on camera and I'll be a bit silly if I have to so I've tried to combine like serious education with just random again just developing myself and finding my unique um style and personality that that separates me uh from other people and so what
you need to do is is look at these three things which are your competencies today the resources that you have access to and your future positioning and I'm just going to go into a little bit more detail about what I mean by those things so the first one is your competencies today kind of speaks for itself like mapping out your skills and and knowledge against your Niche like be brutally honest again like why have you chosen uh your Niche there must be a reason there must be a reason behind you deciding to create content on
that and is it because that you have this deep level of of understanding or knowledge or skills related to that based off of your experience or your past and that's why you think it's maybe easy for you to create that content and then what you should do is is evaluate your Niche and and look for unexpected combination and overlaps within yourself that could fill gaps that are are missing in that Niche similar to what I did with the the streaming tools and the screen recording and also the education and the humor both very simple examples
but these are the things that you need to look for and so the next thing is all about um using the resources available to you this is about resource maximization think about what you have that others um don't have access to and this could be your location you know you might live next to a mountain or a lake or in a big city or in a small village like what's unique to the location that you live in and how could you leverage the things that you have access to there this might be where you choose
to film it might be what you actually talk about in your content but again just something here that that maybe you could tap into that creates an unfair Advantage the next one under resources is your network the people that you know could you interview any of these people could you collaborate with these people do you go to college or do you go to university or do you go to work where there's just lots of people of a certain type or person that can somehow be involved with your content I don't really know here but I'm
just trying to think about like who's in your network and how could they help you create the content that you want to create or steer the content that you want to create in the direction that you want to go and then the last one is really what do you have access to or what can you get access to because of of who you are your job the people you know you know is there information that that you have that others don't again this might be based on your EXP experience in the past or it might
just be on like I said your location or your network today that can just give you that unfair Advantage you need to just go looking for this and try and find it and so the last thing is about future positioning this is looking at where your Niche is now and where it's going in the future and how can you build this into your skill development and content strategy so for me I've alluded to the fact that I think traditional talking head videos are going to come more competitive uh in my Niche and so I've started
to experiment with vlogging how can I integrate the education that I currently provide uh both in short and long through a more personal behindth scenes style that I think is um future proof against AI you know I'm also currently reading and learning more about storytelling so that I can become a better Storyteller what is at the Forefront of your Niche so that you can can learn about it um and just figure it out you know if what are people going to be creating content on in your niche in 2 years time if you can answer
that and start preparing yourself for that and start educating yourself in that area because you genuinely find it interesting and you know you're curious about it perhaps you could steer your way into a really unique advantage and position because when you've gathered all the knowledge and gathered all the understanding about this new Direction and you're already creating content on it everybody is just going to be playing catchup but I'm going to be honest right you won't have all of the answers um to this tonight and and and what I've talking about so I am actually
going to help you a little bit in the description of this video there's a link where I have put together a onepage document that has both a prompt and then this script and what this is going to allow you to do is copy and paste this into chat GPT or Claude and it's essentially going to take the concepts uh questions Etc that I've talked about in this video and it's going to then start a conversation between you and chat gbt or Claude about helping you find your unfair Advantage so you can dive deep into your
life because I figured it's probably quite difficult for you to watch this and go okay what do I do now this is really hard oh I didn't take notes bang go and use this put it into chat GPT and this this should help getting you started on one writing down the skills and knowledge and experience that you have that you feel are above average in your Niche to um the resources that you have access to that others don't which you know like we said could be related to uh your location where you film information you're
able to get access to people that you're able to speak to and then third thinking about writing down like future Trends in your Niche understanding how you can position yourself um in 2 3 years time to get ahead of the curve but even after you do all this it's going to take time to find that like perfect content that I discussed that is most suited to you so that you thrive in the the content creation ecosystem and in my opinion the the brutal truth and the way that you kind of make steps towards finding this
is just through hard work patience persistence bit of love creativity and just a willingness to keep going when things aren't working and if you can just keep reminding yourself of that I think you'll eventually find the place where you belong alongside your stack of unfair advantages
