for almost 6 months but I didn't even come close to having what I needed I would have to save for at least a year to have enough money for her ring but I didn't want to wait that long to ask her to marry me one of my co-workers told me that some of his college friends were playing poker he went to the games sometimes but not that weekend to make a long story short I lost all the money I had saved up for her engagement wedding ring and ended up owing money to several of the

the coral pink lipstick I finally took a deep breath and walked up to the liquor store's door it was a small store run by a mother and son there were only two people working there so they could see everything that was going on one guy was behind the counter he looked like he was about my age in his early 20s and just old enough to drink the other guy was a few years older but in better shape he was helping people and keeping an eye out for shoplifters as he walked around the floor there there

were also about six other people in the store at least that would get people to stop looking at me my creditors told me that one of their friends would be here to make sure I did what they asked me to do I would recognize him by the ring on his tongue as I moved slowly toward the back of the store where the wine was kept I could feel that everyone was watching me on a Saturday night a customer came into the store dressed like a school girl I could only hope that I looked convincing as

purpose I was angry and scared at the same time I didn't have the courage to talk to him because anything I said while I was in here could have given me away I was also very embarrassed by the vague feeling that his rude move was in some way okay because I seemed to be flirting with him lucky for them a worker on the floor came over and asked these boys for ID they gave some lame reason why none of them did I went down two racks and knelt down one more time to look at a

new batch of wines I chose one and took it this time I let out a small sigh of relief because that part of my assignment was done now all I had to do was get the other two things when I got up another customer came up to me and asked are you okay Miss I saw those guys being mean to you I tried to make my voice sound like the light Airy female voice I had been practicing all day I said yes I'm fine thank you he tried to talk to me while he looked me

was looking I think I must have looked like a deer caught in the headlights of a truck at that moment scared lost and unable to move I finally got my legs to work and walked out the store I threw the money at him and ran out of the store my mascara running as tears ran down my cheeks as I ran to my car which was luckily still there I heard the cashier calling out my real name I jumped into the car then I remembered that I'd left the alcohol on the counter I had paid for
