Before we pray, let's first take a moment to listen to God's word and then we'll pray together. What looks like peace on the outside can still be a war on the inside. You can stand in a crowd and think everyone is doing fine.
Yet behind those faces are private struggles, secret worries, temptations, and heavy thoughts that people do not know how to explain. And many of those struggles are not only emotional or circumstantial. Every believer has a fight and many days that fight [music] is not even with people.
It is within. This is why Galatians 5:17 speaks so clearly. It explains that the sinful nature and the spirit are in direct opposition, continually in conflict, so that believers do not always do the good things they desire.
That verse puts language to what you feel. There are moments when your spirit wants God, longs for prayer, longs for the word, longs for purity, longs for obedience. Yet your body and your natural desires can pull you toward comfort, distraction, laziness, pride, anger or lust.
You may plan to pray and suddenly you feel tired. You may plan to read scripture and suddenly you feel hungry or restless. You may want to forgive [music] and suddenly your mind starts replaying the hurt.
This conflict is real [music] and it is daily. You are not strange because you feel it. You are not alone because you struggle with it.
Even the Apostle Paul described a similar inner battle where he desired what was right but felt another law working within him pulling him towards sin. It is not an excuse to stay in sin. But it is a reminder that the battle is understood and God has given a way forward.
So how do you govern this body and this sinful nature? You cannot step out of your body and live like an angel until heaven. You still live on earth with appetites, emotions, habits, and weaknesses.
So the question is, how do you gain victory without pretending the struggle does not exist? God gives an answer in Galatians 5:es 24-2. It says that those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
And if we live by the spirit, [music] we must also walk by the spirit. Notice the language. The flesh must be crucified and crucifixion was an execution.
It was painful [music] and slow. It was public. When scripture uses that picture, it is showing you that putting the flesh to death is not a comfortable process.
It means saying no to what feels easy when easy is leading you away from Christ. It means refusing what your old nature loves because you love Jesus more. It means letting some desires die.
[music] so that your spirit can live fully. This is why Romans 12:es 1:2 calls you to present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God and to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. A living sacrifice is still alive, which means it can try to crawl off the altar.
So you come back and surrender again. Our father is shaping you for freedom and the spirit is training your heart to desire what is truly life. Crucifying the flesh daily also means you stop feeding what is killing you.
Some battles stay strong because you keep giving them food. Some temptations stay loud because you keep giving them attention. Jesus warned his disciples.
Matthew 26:41, "Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. " That is wisdom.
[music] Watch and pray. Pay attention to what opens doors. Pay attention to what weakens you.
Pay attention to what stirs your old nature. Then [music] pray because you cannot win spiritual battles with natural strength alone. And when you do fall, do not run from God in shame.
Run to God in honesty. Confession is not humiliation. It is healing.
1 John 1:9 reminds you that if you confess your sins, he is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse you. Our father is not looking for perfect performers. He is raising sons and daughters who keep returning, keep yielding, and keep walking forward.
A carnal mindset is trapped in the moment. It fixates on pleasure, comfort, and the praise of people. It makes you forget eternity.
But a renewed mind starts looking upward. Colossians 3:es 1:2 says to set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. This does not mean you stop living responsibly on earth.
It means you stop letting temporary things rule your heart. Your life becomes centered on Christ, not on cravings. So dear brothers and sisters, choose the spirit again today.
Galatians 5:16 says, "Walk by the spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. " Walking is step by step. It is choosing prayer when you do not feel like it.
It is choosing the word when entertainment calls your name. It is choosing forgiveness when bitterness wants to stay. It is choosing holiness when sin looks easier.
And as you walk, the spirit strengthens you, shapes your desires, and teaches you to live as someone who belongs to Jesus. The things of the flesh do not last. They promise comfort, but they leave emptiness.
They promise pleasure, but they leave regret. They promise control, but they create bondage. But what you do in Christ lasts.
What you surrender to Jesus bears fruit. What you put to death by the spirit makes room for true life. So keep walking in the spirit.
Keep yielding to the spirit and keep letting our father lead you because victory is not only possible, it is part of your inheritance in Christ. Now let's take a moment to pray together. Lord Jesus, you already know me well, what I am going through.
You see the parts of my heart that feel strong and you also see the parts that feel tired and worn [music] out. Today I am asking you to revive my spirit. Breathe new life into me.
I do not want to live on empty and I do not want to keep repeating the same cycle of wanting to do right but falling back into old patterns. I need your help and I am not ashamed to admit it. Jesus, help me crucify this flesh.
Help me overcome the desires that pull me away from you. Help me keep my body under submission so that my life can follow the word of God. There are moments when my spirit truly wants to pray, but my flesh wants comfort more than communion.
There are times when I sit down to seek you and distractions suddenly feel urgent. Lord, you know how real this struggle can be and you know how quickly my mind can drift. So I ask you for victory in this daily battle.
I believe you will help me overcome it. Your word reminds me in John 15:5 that apart from you I can do nothing. That means I cannot defeat this battle through willpower alone.
I cannot fix myself by trying harder. I need you to live in me [music] and strengthen me from within. So Lord, I lean on you.
When prayer feels like a fight, help me press through. When reading your word feels heavy, remind me that your word is life. When my flesh tries to dominate my choices, teach me to say no with wisdom and to say yes to you with a steady heart.
Father, I pray that I would not be a slave to sin. I pray that I would not serve unrighteousness. Set me free from secret compromises.
Set me free from habits that drain my spirit. Set me free from anything that makes me dull toward your presence. I want my life to be alive to Christ and dead to this world.
I want to love what you love and I want to hate what destroys my soul. Your word teaches me in Romans 8:es 13 to 15 that if I live according to the flesh, I will die. But if by the spirit I put to death the misdeeds of the body, I will live.
It also says those who are led by the spirit of God are the children of God. And that the spirit I received does not make me a slave to fear but brings adoption. And by him I cry, "Aba, Father.
" Lord, I hold on to that truth. I am not owned by fear. I am not owned by sin.
I belong to you. I am a child of our father and I want to live like it. Holy Spirit, lead me, direct me, correct me when I am drifting.
Comfort me when I am weary. Convict me when I am tempted. Strengthen me when my flesh desires feel strong.
I ask for mercy, Lord, because I know I need grace every day. Let my life be empowered by the Holy Spirit and not controlled by impulses or shaped by the world's pressure. I want to be led by you in every decision.
Father, I also pray for the fruit of the spirit to be clear in my life. Your word describes it in Galatians 5:es 22- 23 [music] as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Lord, let these words grow inside me.
Let love be how I respond even when I am misunderstood. Let joy rise in me. Let peace guard my heart when my mind wants to panic.
Give me patience when I want quick answers. Make me kind when people are difficult. Shape my character to reflect Jesus.
Strengthen my self-control when temptation knocks so that I choose obedience over appetite. Lord, teach me contentment in you. I do not want my heart to chase satisfaction in this world because this world cannot truly fill what only you can fill.
Help me put away earthly passions and desires. Let my deepest desire be to serve you, to honor you, and to glorify your holy name. I pray that the works of the flesh would not be evident in my life.
I reject idolatry because Jesus Christ alone is my king, [music] my Lord, and my Savior. I reject impurity because I want righteousness. I reject anger that burns others, jealousy that poisons joy, envy that breeds bitterness, and conflict that ruins relationships.
Lord, help me be forgiving. Help me be compassionate. Help me speak life instead of harshness.
Help me respond with wisdom instead of reactions. Your word shows me a powerful example in 1 Corinthians 9 27 where Paul says he disciplines his body and brings it into subjection. Lord, I want that kind of discipline that comes from love for you.
Teach me how to guard my eyes, guard my thoughts, and guard my words. Teach me how to walk away from what pulls me down [music] and walk toward what builds my spirit up. Father, my spirit is willing to serve you.
My spirit longs for your presence. I believe that one touch from you can change me. I believe you can renew me and make me whole.
So create in me a clean heart. Renew a right spirit within me. Let my desire for you become strong again.
Jesus, be magnified in my life. Be exalted in my choices. I thank you for the victory you give over sin.
I thank you for the strength you provide when I feel weak. Your word reminds me in 2 Corinthians 12:9 [music] that your grace is sufficient and your strength is made perfect in weakness. So I bring it to you and I trust you to meet me with strength.
Lord, by faith [music] I receive what I have prayed. I believe you are working in me. I believe you are shaping and helping me overcome daily.
I receive the leading of the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. [music] Amen.
If this prayer has touched your heart, please type amen as a sign of faith. I pray that every blessing in this prayer is now upon you in the name of Jesus. And if you need a special prayer, feel free to let us know in the comments.
We would be honored to pray for you. May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
