[Music] brothers and sisters today we immerse ourselves in an extraordinary story that of a young Saint who walked between Earth and Heaven touching the mysteries of the invisible today we will talk about St Gemma galgani a saint who carried the world's pain in her heart and had a deep special bond with the souls of The Departed perhaps you have never heard of such intimacy with the invisible I a connection so profound that she could feel the pains and sufferings of those who are no longer with us but who still await full Liberation in the Lord

Not only was her body marked with the Stigmata but her soul was constantly in communication with the Divine Guided by her guardian angel and often visited by The Souls of The Departed who sought her help these Souls were Not Mere shadows in the darkness for St Gemma they were friends brothers sisters still struggling to find peace Souls who suffered and whom she longed to help with all her strength one night during her prayers her guardian angel approached her Gemma why such reluctance in prayer it saddens Jesus he said gently tapping her shoulder St Gemma humbly
replied I feel a great fatigue in both body and soul but I so desire to be close to Jesus even though I feel weak I will continue to pray because I know that is what he desires of me but the angel reminded her that the Lord does not seek perfection in form but rather a willing heart a spirit that does not fade even when the body is weak fulfill your duties with dedication and you will see that Jesus will love you even more this dialogue shows us that even in our daily struggles when the body
fails and the mind is weary the Lord invites us to stay with him to offer what little we have with love later after finishing her prayers St Gemma went to bed but the angel returned with an even deeper message how long has it been since you prayed for the souls in purgatory oh my daughter you think of them so little Mother Maria Teresa still suffers you know at these words St Gemma felt pierced in her heart and responded humbly oh how sorry I am for neglecting them I promise that from now on I will never
forget them again and will offer every small suffering for them so that they may finally reach peace brothers these words are a powerful call for us too how often do we forget to pray for our deceased loved ones how often do we forget that there are souls waiting for our prayers yearning for our intercession to reach full communion with God at that moment St Gemma realized that her sufferings her pains could be a precious gift for those Souls a relief for those still in purgatory and so she asked the angel can even bodily pain pains
relieve the souls in purgatory the angel gently replied yes daughter every smallest suffering uplifts them it is a profound mystery brothers and sisters how our sufferings can become channels of Grace for others St Gemma teaches us that every small suffering every pain we accept with love and offered to God can become a gift for those who still suffer this is an invitation to the purest charity to suffer not for ourselves not to complain or seek human Comfort but to offer that pain to the Lord for the good of others and so did St Gemma offering
every small pain for the souls in purgatory making each breath each Pang of suffering an act of love for her brothers and sisters who needed her St Gemma often received visits from souls in purgatory who came to her for help comfort and prayer one of these Souls was Mother Maria Teresa a nun who needed her prayers to find peace St Gemma described one of these visits saying a soul appeared to me in tears begging me to pray for her she was so sad and her pain moved me deeply I couldn't ignore her request so I
immediately knelt and prayed with all my heart asking the Lord to have mercy on that poor soul St Gemma was so connected to these Souls that she did not hesitate to sacrifice her rest and strength to alleviate their pains one night the angel asked her would you like to do something for them tonight would you like to suffer St Gemma with a generous and Compassionate Heart replied that she would willingly suffer for an hour even though she knew knew she would be disobeying Jesus who had asked her to rest yet her compassion for the souls
was so great that she was ready to set aside her own well-being to help those suffering Souls but the angel in his wisdom saw the tension in gemma's heart the desire to help but also the fear of disobeying her beloved Lord so he allowed her to rest blessing her before leaving this gesture is a reminder for each of us obedience to God always comes first and the Lord sees our hearts knows our desire to do good and guides us with gentleness St gemma's words show us that Purgatory is not a place of Despair but a
place of hope where God's love continues to purify Souls making them worthy of his presence the souls in purgatory are not forgotten they need our prayers our sacrifices our sufferings offered with love and we like St Gemma can do so much for them we can offer every small suffering every sacrifice Every Act of love as a gift for those Souls who still await the full Light Of Heaven St Gemma not only prayed for Souls but lived in true communion with them in another episode she recounts how during a night of prayer she felt a presence
beside her a presence asking her to pray pray intensely St Gemma said I felt a soul beside me a soul begging me to pray its voice was filled with pain and despair and I couldn't remain indifferent I immediately knelt and prayed with all my heart asking the Lord to free it from its suffering it was a soul in pergatory that had no one to pray for it brothers and sisters how many souls are there who have no one to pray for them how many people during their Earthly lives lived far from God without knowing the
beauty of his mercy and now they wait for someone to remember them someone who like St Gemma is willing to say I will pray for you I will offer my sufferings for you so that you may find peace the life of St Gemma invites us to ReDiscover the importance of the communion of saints that wonderful reality in which we are all United both the living and the dead as one body the mystical Body of Christ our prayers are never in vain never mere words in the void they are acts of Love That transcend time and
space reaching those who need them the most and each time we pray for a soul in purgatory each time we offer a sacrifice we participate in the Redemptive work of Christ becoming instruments of his Mercy becoming ch channels of Grace for those who still suffer it is not necessary to be Mystics or have visions to pray for the souls in purgatory all of us can do it in our everyday lives by offering every small suffering every effort Every Act of love we can do so much for those Souls who are still awaiting the beatific vision
of God and in return they pray for us intercede for us and accompany us on our journey toward Heaven brothers and sisters to today we are called to respond to this call of love we are called to remember our departed brothers and sisters to pray for them to offer our sufferings for them we are called to be like St Gemma to live in communion with heaven to be instruments of God's mercy for those who still await let us not forget the souls in purgatory let us not forget their need for us their desire to be
freed and finally see the face of God St Gemma galgani teaches us that Purgatory is a place of hope a place where God's love continues to purify to prepare to make Souls worthy and we can be part of this love we can be instruments of this purification helping those Souls reach the light of paradise may the Lord give us the strength to offer every suffering every sacrifice Every Act of love for the good of the souls in purgatory and may we like St Gemma always live in communion I with heaven with our hearts turned toward
