the bad news keeps just rolling in for Captain America Brave New World the next Surefire Marvel flop that can't catch a break the movie isn't even out yet and nothing but negativity is stem from this flicks production with piss poor pre-sale numbers that have Disney freaking out even their PR team can't send it through their spin cycle with the crowd going mild over the latest trailer it's not poisoned to the Captain America franchise because it's already in the crapper don't be smoking cigarettes if you pregnant what's wrong with you I'm not pregnant I'm fat youing
[ __ ] the only thing confusing will be this film's tone with up to three re-shoot multiple rewrites and newly revealed runtime cap 4 is in more trouble than Dana White on the receiving end of a Tyson text I want to oil you up what the [ __ ] does that mean I made a video covering the troubled production of this Surefire turd a couple months ago but with more bad news being revealed than being a personal witness to Marvel Studios trying to Hype it up and fail there's just that much more to talk about

projections show cap 4 opening between $86 and $95 million over its Valentine's Day opening weekend or as I I like to call it complete [ __ ] these numbers were all over town and the $95 million figure feels more like Disney's attempt to drum up real excitement for the movie by projecting faux hype it's like the pr team is hoping reverse psychology applies and people will rush out on opening weekend because of fomo fortunately plenty of people have mocked this figure into Oblivion myself included on our weekly podcast be up because they don't match with
reality the only film in this franchise to reach that figure was Captain America Civil War which was basically Avengers 2.5 with Spider-Man and RD DJ's Iron Man playing key roles in the marketing even with inflation to suggest this movie will approach a nine figure opening weekend is patently absurd Marvel's replacement hand-me-down versions of popular characters haven't exactly struck a chord with audiences unless it's the brown note and you're a king if you caught that South Park reference to suggest this movie will come close to touching a near $100 million opening weekend even when taking inflation
into consideration is funnier than prince playing guitar unplugged after riding this [ __ ] wave for a week new projections are showing Brave New World opening closer to the eternals or around $70 million and it's pre-sales have been laughed out of the building when compared to Ant-Man and the WASP Quantum Mania you know that piece of [ __ ] that Eed out 110 million on its opening weekend my personal prediction for cap 4 is it opens somewhere between the eternals 70 million and the Marvel's 47 million which happens to be the lowest opening figure of
any MCU movie ever remember when Deadpool and Wolverine opened the $200 million and everyone thought the MCU was saved yeah no the only way the MCU box office is influenced now is in the negative these movies have gotten such a bad rep of late that one good film won't create Goodwill for the next project but a bad reception to one will negatively impact any follow-up even if it's unrelated because Marvel isn't a series of interconnected franchises anymore it's basically looked at as one giant IP it's how a movie like Ant-Man 3 can have a nine
figureure opening weekend and just N9 months later the Marvel's bombs worse than Nagasaki becoming the first MCU movie to make under $100 million at the domestic box office also known as less money than what Ant-Man 3 opened to so one good movie like Deadpool 3 isn't going to generate enough MCU related hype to get a sure misfire like cap 4 off the ground the next bit of bad news for this movie is the runtime not only is it projected to debut closer to the lowest of all MCU openings it's also one of the shortest Marvel
movies to date clocking in at just 1 hour and 58 minutes considering most Marvel credits run for nearly 10 minutes and that's not including opening credits and whatever my numbing mid and po most credit scenes they'll be injecting you know to try and make this movie mean something Beyond Disney's saving some face by not canceling the damn thing this means the actual film itself will be a lean and mean hour and 40 minutes but cynic you ask how can you possibly predict a movie it will be bad based on how long it is that is
a fair question my friend with a lot of people demanding less bloated movies with more meat than fat on their bones something we can digest and get on with an hour and a half sounds pretty damn good at first glance a longer movie doesn't necessarily mean a better movie after all but a shorter MCU movie does show what level of confidence the studio has in it with a shorter Marvel runtime historically meaning a much shittier movie especially over the last few years let me elaborate both Doctor Strange 2 and the Marvels were recent MCU flicks
that were reshot multiple times and cut to hell in the editing room the reasons for the re-shoot varied but simply put the studio wasn't happy with the product they were getting and neither were audiences in test screenings so what to do the Studio's decision was to inject more and more money into these projects rewrite them on the Fly and what you end up with is a choppy incoherent piece of [ __ ] that looks exactly like what it is three different movies morphed into one in an attempt to be as mass appealing as possible both
those movies came clocking in with short runtimes each well under two hours when removing credits and post-credit scenes and this is exactly what's happening to Captain America 4 Marvel had little faith in Doctor Strange 2 so it was marketed with rug Poole cameos of the X-Men in particular Professor X and the Marvel's is a road map on how cap 4 will fail re-shoot after re-shoot with its release date pushed back over and over speaking of those re-shoot Disney sees them as the answer to their problems while they simultaneously create new ones when you re-shoot a
movie it causes a lot of issues consistency for one where actors look different from shot to shot because they had to come back in and actually physically look just a little different remember Doctor Strange's wig bouncing around in Doctor Strange 2 that same thing goes for Brie larsson's hair in the Marvels it creates an editing nightmare for the crew a major production already has to do an unbelievable amount of work to stay consistent day-to-day on the first shoot imagine having to make a film look consistent that's filmed three separate times over the course of 2
years it's got to be an absolute Nightmare and it certainly is for the audience the crew of a nine figure budgeted movie definitely does a good job as any in Hollywood when it comes to keeping things looking right but you can only do so much remember the nightmare that was Jos Sweden's cut of Justice League yeah so do I it haunts me in my [ __ ] dreams how Ben Affleck in one shot was clearly filmed by Snyder and the next he looked like his wig barely fit and his face was bloated as [ __
] damn that's [ __ ] brutal sorry Ben no offense to Ben's well-known drinking problem but it made for a difficult viewing experience when we just wanted to see if Weeden redeemed Batman's shitty SN verse version of the character and who can forget the ridiculous anti- shave claw in Henry kev's movie contract he was pulled away from filming Mission Impossible where he was sporting a Super Mario mustache so they had to remove it with shitty CGI that was topped immediately by the internet Justice League strange to the Marvels they all had similar issues because of
the re-shoot and not just the physical look of characters and background suffered the editing in the films make them feel like disjointed messes because let's face it that's exactly what they are at least with strange 2 in the Marvels we weren't looking at complete film rewrites with Captain America 4 the film was rumored to have been literally Rewritten from the ground up and shot three [ __ ] times they surely won't let shoot number one and two go to complete waste which unfortunately for the audience means we'll be getting possibly the worst looking MCU movie
ever with edits and scenes being mashed together from what amounts to three movies anyone expecting such a thing to be coherent Beyond a bunch of cut scenes smooshed into movie format will most likely have a surprise in store for them on opening day another key factor playing in this film's future demise the Captain America franchise is middle of the pack when it comes to box office receipts at least in The Wider context of MCU history the original entry Captain America the First Avenger made just $370 million worldwide it was a different world in 2011 with
the character being a relative beist Hero at the time and China hadn't become a dominant box office Force yet so that sub $400 million gross was good for the time however even adjusted for inflation that's a $500 million total or basically the cost of making Brave New World the second entry in the franchise was riding high off the back of the first Avengers movie which was a massive hit it was also one of the best movies in the mcu's history which helped it leg out to $750 million in total or nearly a billion dollars adjusted
for inflation the third entry was raking in the Goodwill from another successful Avengers movie Age of Ultron and had the help of Spider-Man and Iron Man anchoring the marketing campaign it became the most successful film the franchise with $1.1 billion mostly because it was Avengers 22 I think it's the best of the franchise 2 but you almost have to count this as the real third Avengers movie in a lot of ways even the box office reflects Avengers level Heights so with all that being said how in the hell did Marvel think a 250 million doll
budget that they let balloon to nearly half a billion was a good idea removing the main star and replacing him with temuk cap would automatically mean less money at the box office even if the movie was good instead it cost more than any Avengers movie to produce another problem the plot of Captain America Brave New World is a glaring contradiction to what made the Captain America franchise work in the first place Captain America's strength as a character lies in his relatability sure he's a super soldier but he's grounded tactical and more importantly human he's not
Thor the God of Thunder nor is he Tony Stark a billionaire Tech genius who can create AI death bots on a whim Captain America is a soldier who understands strategy and has a moral compass qualities that made the Winter Soldier feel more like an Espionage Thriller than your typical superhero movie but now in an Act of pure desperation they're throwing the Red Hulk into the mix why well to bring in some sort of flashy Fantastical villain that might appeal to the broader audience because let's face it Sam Wilson as Captain America doesn't sell tickets and
Marvel knows it instead of Leaning into the grounded spy Thriller angle that made the Captain America movies stand out they're blending in more fantasy elements in hopes of distracting viewers from the fact that Steve Rogers isn't coming back but the inclusion of the Red Hulk a character that feels ripped Straight From A B movie monster flick completely clashes with the Espionage tone that they're trying to maintain it's like putting Godzilla in Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy this total inconsistency reeks of last ditch efforts Red Hulk is the Cinematic equivalent of Marvel shouting please care about our
movie but they're ignoring what fans actually want a coherent story in characters that matter the movie's deeper issues stem from the cultural and political shifts that have occurred since its conception when this project was green lit back in the 2020 cultural Zeitgeist injecting political messaging in entertainment was considered trendy and it's true comic book lore provides some justification for Sam Wilson becoming Captain America but Marvel bypassed the logical story-driven progression where Bucky Barnes might have been the first to wield the shield and went straight for the progressive Choice with Sam and here's the problem they
didn't bother to make that decision compelling for audiences it was a move dictated more by Optics than storytelling fast forward to today in the pendulum is swung audiences are voicing their exhaustion with political agendas hijacking entertainment Marvel realizing they overplayed their hand is now scrambling to walk it back the result a movie gutted of its original identity the re-shoot reportedly cut significant political elements from the film including entire characters and subplots but the damage is already done removing the political overtone now leaves a hollow shell of a movie one without the courage of its original
convictions or a new creative direction to replace them take General Ross for instance whose character was originally rumored to be an allegory for Donald Trump early drafts leaned heavily into this but with the backlash against overt political commentary and entertainment these plans were scrapped now Ross is a shadow of what he was intended to be a neutered version of the character stripped of his allegorical significance but still awkward ly shoehorned into the film Marvel tried to play it safe by avoiding alienating audiences but in doing so they've alienated The Narrative itself another casualty of Marvel's
Panic induced rewrites is The Supporting Cast WWE star Seth Rollins was set to have a role in the movie but his scenes have reportedly been cut entirely then there's the character with Palestinian Origins who is also Ax from the script likely a result of Marvel attempting to dodge real world geopolitical sensitivities these decisions only further a perception that Captain America Brave New World is less a coherent film and more of Frankenstein's monster Cobble together in a Panic Room cutting these characters doesn't just water down the story it also makes the film feel even more disconnected
a movie with three different rites and re-shoot over 2 years is going to feel inconsistent no matter how much editing magic is applied at best audiences will get a jumbled mess of disjointed scenes at worst it'll feel like justice league with re-shoot so obvious you can spot the bad wigs and mismash lighting from a mile away Beyond Captain America 4 Marvel's lineup for 2025 isn't looking much better sure there's some cautious optimism around the new daredevil show on Disney Plus but let's be real it's not going to save the MCU even Deadpool 3 featuring Wolverine
couldn't spark a full-blown MCU Renaissance if Deadpool and Wolverine can't fix Marvel's sinking reputation How could a Disney plus TV show then there's Thunderbolts coming in May on paper it's meant to be Marvel's Suicide Squad a team of morally ambiguous antiheroes but without James gun at the helm and without the edgy charm Suicide Squad brought to the table Thunderbolts risks being a bland rehash of Marvel tropes it'll likely lean into the tired found family Dynamic we've seen in every Guardians of the Galaxy or Ant-Man movie but without any of the wit or creativity that made
those films tolerable so Marvel is banking on Fantastic 4 to be their Saving Grace for 2025 but history is not on their side this will be the third attempt to make the Fantastic 4 relevant on the big screen and audiences aren't exactly clamoring for it the Fantastic Four might be A-list heroes in theory but in practice they've always been B tier at best even with Marvel's track record it's hard to imagine this reboot breaking the curse and yet Marvel is treating Fantastic 4 like it's the key to saving the franchise much like they treated to
Captain Marvel or the eternals A Fantastic Four flops it's going to send an even bigger message to audiences the MCU isn't the PowerHouse it once was something we already know the final nail in Marvel's 2025 coffin might just be Iron Heart this long delayed Disney plus Series has disaster written all over it if Captain America 4 sets the tone for a year of mediocrity ironheart will drive it home with the thud the series has been shell for years reportedly because Marvel knows it's bad they're releasing it anyway because they've sunk tooo much money into the
project to let it rot forever but if the reception is anything like the Marvels expect iron har to be one of the biggest failures in MCU history when all is said and done Captain America Brave New World is shaping up to be yet another misstep in a string of Marvel misfires it's emblematic of the larger issues plaguing the MCU overblown budgets poorly thought out political messaging and a lack of creative Direction this movie isn't just a test for the Captain America franchise it's a litus test for Marvel's ability to stay relevant in a world that
seems increasingly disinterested in what they have to offer if this is the best they can do in 2025 it's it's going to be a very long year for Marvel Studios GG's no I'm not cool great job man I mean I thought you were really rarded
