In the postredit scene of Thunderbolts, Yolena mentions that the new Avengers are being kept in the dark about an ongoing space crisis. And this happens right before they witness the Fantastic 4's ship arriving above Earth. So, the space crisis is most likely related to the incursion caused by the Fantastic 4 as they travel between universes.
On the other hand, let's not forget the incursion in the Marvels, the one that brought Monica Rambo face to face with Beast in the X-Men universe. There's also the incursion that Doctor Strange and Clea tended to in the ending of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, one of the first MCU events that hinted at secret wars. Whichever space crisis the authorities are keeping from the new Avengers, what's clear is that the multiverse saga is headed for its climax.
And it is thanks to all these incursions that the new Avengers, classic Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic 4 are all meeting in Avengers Doomsday. Moreover, Thunderbolts may have already answered the question, what exactly will trigger the creation of Battle World in Avengers: Secret Wars? In the 2015 Secret Wars event, Dr Doom created Battle World with help from Molecule Man, one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe.
And in the MCU, there are very few possible replacements for Molecule Man, with Sentry being a prime candidate. Indeed, Val wasn't exaggerating when she said that the Bob aka Sentry is stronger than any Avenger before him. And combined with the vast psychic and extradimensional powers of the void, Sentry could be the key to how Dr Doom actually creates battle world in either Doomsday or Secret Wars.
Alongside Sentry, other potentially omnipotent characters like Loki, Franklin Richards, and Billy Maximoff could all be targeted by Dr Doom in MCU phase 6. However, thanks to Bob's naive Taye and the nature of the void, it makes the most narrative sense for Sentry to replace Molecule Man in the MCU's version of Secret Wars. In fact, Thunderbolt's director Jake Shrier has already hinted that Sentry will be relevant to Doom's big phase 6 plans.
With that, there's one more question left to answer. What does Sam Wilson suing the new Avengers really mean? This wasn't just a hilarious setup to Alexi trying to skirt copyright law 14 months after the Thunderbolts defeated the Void, Sam Wilson is most likely close to assembling his own Avengers lineup, and the two Avengers teams could come to blows before they work together in Doomsday.
After all, it's confirmed that Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of both Doomsday and Secret Wars, also directed the Thunderbolts postredit scene. And actually, the scene itself was shot on the set of Avengers Doomsday. So, this could also mean that the postredit scene reveals how the new Avengers will enter the picture in the next big Avengers outing.
