hey everyone this is Elon from inside fighting and we have another random random video today I made a video on techyon a little while ago and someone in the comments section said hey they have these kicks in takao muge which completely threw me for a loop I I like to believe I know about martial arts uh it turns out every week making these videos that someone comes out with a martial art that I've never heard of before in my life which is good because it leads me to believe I'll have endless content to explore and I love discovering these things so this entire video is my deep dive into takao muge I can say that a million times takamogay takamogay takamogay I really like it it's a Peruvian martial art stay tuned it's gonna get crazy in here you're gonna love it here we go [Music] inside inside fighting yeah dangerous dangerous martial arts all right so I haven't mentioned this before I actually own a watch brand this is completely random I'm not taking any ads or anything like that on this channel in terms of sponsors I just want to promote my own company so check it out eggardwatches. com we make some really really cool watches we have a watch coming out with William Shatner soon I've been doing this for years you may have seen some of our controversial videos I make all of those and um yeah go check out our website www. egardwatches.
com the watches are actually pretty sick that's it I'm not going to bombard you with it moving on takao muge all right so it's from Peru I tried to find a ton of information on this system because I just found it to be very random and interesting the reality is I could not find anything I typed it into Google and for some reason Muay Thai kept popping up uh other things kept popping up like the Peruvian annual fighting Festival which is a whole other video I'm gonna do which is super badass in itself but what I did find on the YouTube is a ton of videos and this martial art is arguably one of the weirdest systems I have ever seen in terms of what it is um you know if you have information on the history of this style I have to believe it's just an amalgamation in Peru of people who trained Kung Fu it looks like there's some Jeet kundo in there there's definitely some Taekwondo capoeira style movements and a lot of calisthenics and then randomly size I don't know why that you know those those size that I don't know if everyone knows what size are but if you've watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles you know what size are so let's just jump right in I have collected a bunch of footage here and I want to share it with everyone and discuss what I see and if I think it has value I actually do think some of this is incredibly unique and valuable and I would do these as a drill on the side but let's just start looking at them over here he's just doing footwork drills this guy but even these footwork drills are different than what you've seen a lot of other systems like this kind of reminds me of like 80s break dancing but uh I've never quite seen that kind of movement it looks like he's jumping into calisthenics from his kicks it's so Random it is so incredibly random and then he's spontaneously becomes like a Kung Fu Fighter also you'll see later I have another video but this kind of footwork I'm sure there are benefits to doing this kind of stuff um here he goes he's going Kung Fu mode almost looks like old school style like crane Kung Fu tiger Kung Fu I'm not a Kung Fu specialist don't judge me on my Kung Fu knowledge but it's really really interesting and this really has that kind of Chinese influence look at how it's body pouchers I want to pause this look at his body posture he's got that kind of hip forward strong upper back shoulders kind of refracted in let me see if I could I don't even know what that word means refracted in but you get the idea he's doing this which you see a lot in kung fu for some reason um you don't see that as much in other systems but that's what he's doing so I think there's definitely Kung Fu influence there and even the trapping kind of looks Kung fuish like I feel like the crossing footwork you won't see that in a lot of Combat Sports you won't see that in Muay Thai or Anna leans like all that that looks like some kind of drunken Kung Fu or but then he randomly goes into a crazy ass break dance there he goes my guy I want to put some 80s music over this [Music] I have more videos here we're gonna go through all of them fellas we're going through all of them so bear with me again Kung Fu dancing 80s music you here we go [Music] but like that that was um so we have some of that stuff going on and then they Spar these dudes actually like that look I'm sorry I don't know what that was he just went full like I'm gonna jump in your face but that front kick that's a nice front kick and they follow us up with a beautiful sidekick step in sidekick like there's some nice movements here low light kick this guy just loves doing full force flying attacks to your face that's if he was a character in Tekken that would be his move he would just full-on jump in your face with both legs and then slam into the ground on concrete and lose some of his health bar but honestly I don't mind this movement I man that was a nice sidekick they paused on it for us but and then they do all this weird stuff on the ground but look they have takedowns this is a unique system and they're really fighting I have to commend them like and why is all the footage from the 80s and 90s that was weird to me too like I couldn't find any modern day footage I found one clip I'll play it next that was modern day there's not a lot of modern day footage the Peruvian martial art look they're going for headlocks they're wrestling any style that does this that was a crazy takedown any style that does this I respect I got respect for this style uh whether I'm full on board especially for the era that these videos are being played from the Jurassic era like these are old videos and they're full on doing MMA rules I mean these guys are going for it in Peru in Peru that was a nice kick I want to see if they do it damn that's crazy how did the people's knees handle this oh 1995 there we go so we're looking at almost 30 years ago my God my God time has flown they do really nice spin kicks here's the modern day takamogay and so I've done some bagua when I did a kuntao silat at Randall Goodwin's house in his backyard where he would launch me onto concrete and just beat me up viciously I used to take my brother and I to his house privately and he had like his backyard was crazy he had all these circles and stuff set up in his backyard for footwork to train on but if you look I find this reminds me a lot of the kind of circular movements he would make us do see how they're crossing their legs and then he kind of circles to the side set up here for maybe a groin strike or a takedown he's showing it as a growing strike but there's also a lot of like foot sweeps from there and there's an arm break you know more kind of like internal Kung fuish system movements to me here that really looks Kung fuish but uh that's the type of consistent thing I found now we're going back to the 80s and 90s worth breakdancers apparently because this is where it gets crazy again get these calisthenics that goes on one finger so uh again I can't figure out this system I really hope someone in the comments section is like oh yeah I'm from Peru and this is actually like an established system and you know there's schools around but I could not find anything on the Google about it what I do notice is they have incredibly unique training methodologies I think I'm actually going to steal some of these drills that they do like man the log training and stuff like that look at the strength these guys have in their body they do tons of calisthenics they do tons of stuff with these logs um and hopefully I'm not completely nuts and muge this guy didn't trick me and it just means martial art in Peru which would be very embarrassing but either way I found these videos all related to mugay so uh and there seems to be consistency in the movements so yeah I'm uh I'm liking it I'm liking it in the weirdest way possible it's like one of those uh guilty pleasures you know you shouldn't want to watch it but you do you shouldn't want to train it but you do there they are back with the log turning a log like that like these like old school training methodologies this dude is strong this dude is skinny but strong you could tell you could tell that if he gets a grip on your neck he's gonna rip it apart it's one of those guys he's not scared to bite you I'm moving on to the next video here we go this was interesting to me too look at that they're using the size this is what I was talking about and they use a machete too and I know there's some cool Peruvian machete Styles but uh there is it's got a sword here they do have weapons in this again very Kung fuy influence there's some things about certain certain knife fighting styles you see how his wrist is weak I don't like that I think that if you have a sword you have to chop you have to cut through you have to slice or stab you can't do these flaring movements like this this is always demonstrational and I've seen this in some other systems where the wrist kind of just let me let me just the wrist is kind of just doing this this is not how you're going to hurt somebody with a blade whether it's a sword or a knife you have to actually be there has to be a full range of motion and even when you're stabbing and I I noticed that a lot in other systems so I'm not just blaming this for that but uh the side stuff is cool I feel like size are only in Japanese martial arts do kung fu people use size if you know leave the information in the comments section below look this video for me is kind of a collaboration because I'm lost on this one I'm just watching the video analyzing what I see I see some good I see some crazy that's for sure I see a lot of crazy um and I see some fun I see some fun like break dance fun style man these guys and again I do see some great sparring like these guys go for it it's super dark that I would never do that personally like they're like well can we just watch that one more time look at this this guy it literally reminds me of a video game look he does the light kick then the other one and then he just butt scoots into the guy look at that butt move Look butt scoot onto the ground the other guy got away the power of the booty scoot it kind of is capoeirish here much more than the other clips that we saw like this is very cap wearish the way they're fighting but more wild and More contact and uh I would say less technical I kept where the exchanges are very flow-based and people kind of understand the exchanges but they even have their own weird version of the Jingo which is that Crossing legwork there's definitely some kind of interesting thing happening here I actually like this style of fighting right now what we're seeing here where they're it's it's playful they have this weird variation of a Jinga and then they go to this ground stuff like crazy it goes for the butt scoot again this guy's favorite move is thrown his butt in your face um which is interesting I I don't know what I what I believe about that but that the beautiful exchanges on the legs this last clip here has made me a fan of takao muge anyway it's a unique indigenous style they I believe I I have no idea but it is something different I haven't quite seen this style of sparring from a lot of other systems actually taking on the guy who wrote that this is similar to techyon is absolutely right like techyon does like these weird kicking things and then they go into takedowns this reminds me of techyon techyon didn't have as much of the ground stuff and they didn't move as much of the Kung Fu influence like now they've really brought back the Kung Fu influence they're doing like those those hand positions that you really see historically in my opinion only in kung fu Styles which is like all of this stuff like you know like very very Kung Fu so super super interesting here I'm look I'm bringing it back I'm bringing it back to me right over here and here we go so what are my final thoughts on this system uh this is one of my most discombobulated videos because I'm at a complete loss again I don't understand some of the training methodologies the footwork to me is extremely confusing there's some elements of it that just from a Combat Sports background I would never do I think you should always have a fundamental strong base under you or you're going to get taken down but it seems like these guys don't mind being taken down because they're flying to the ground and you know butt scooting into your face all the time anyway I think it has some elements of it like some of the movement would definitely complement me and change the way I fight which is something I always look for at this point I don't want to just get caught up in the same routine I want to grow as a martial artist sometimes that means training in movements that I'm not comfortable with that seem counter-intuitive but change up the kind of patterns that my body has gotten used to doing and I think that's one of the most important things to do in martial arts after you've been doing it 5 10 15 20 25 years I'm I've started martial arts when I was 14. it's a long long time ago I'm old now so I do get caught up in the same routines and you do lose a bit of a passion for it and when I see a system like takao muge and I really hope these videos are attack on gay videos someone's gonna come on and be like actually those are just you know random Peruvian martial art videos either way there was a consistency there folks so whatever that was that I found under takao muge to me showed an element of movement that I haven't really been exposed to before and haven't trained much in and I'm sure that my body at times in fighting gets put into awkward positions it's good to be able to fight from any position you don't know when your feet are going to be crossed you don't know when someone's tripping you up or when you're off balance and then a fight happens or something breaks out so it's good to train in every possible scenario I think this does give you a bit of that I also do like these random you know playful exchanges that they have that remind me of capoeira but with more contact one of my problems with capoeira was kind of how as much as I love the flow and I'm big on Flow fighting was how much of a game it became and lost the fight aspect this seems like it still has the fight aspect these dudes were going at each other like if you're sparring like that every day it's going to help your fighting except for again all the committing to flying into the ground and butt scooting into the people I would take that out I'm not a fan of the butt scoot it just throws me off and I'm trying to think of what here's another thing to comment on if you can think of what video game that is where the guy judge jumps is it like Zangief and like turns and butt scoots into you like knocks you down by putting his butt and you just fall over there's some fighting game that does that anyway I hope you enjoyed this video what I trained takamouge I don't know I would I would go to a seminar for it that's for sure it's just something to experience it's not the kind of system I would go train every week do I think it's good for self-defense no but at least they Spar and again all the footage I found is from like 1943 so it's hard to find anything new on this system uh Google doesn't want to help me out and YouTube only gave me that one guy from uh from the 2000s so and that looked different to me that looked like it had more of a bagua influence so let's see what you think leave your comments below and please like And subscribe and uh you know if you want to check out my watch company at guardwatches.
