brindavan is the place of Sri radak Krishna the Divine forms of Love Bliss and peace as we were talking and as I was just sharing you know this modern day crisis of mental health and inner happiness which is really a challenge nowadays the ancient system of India is called sanatana Dharma there is a difference between the wisdom and mind right because the mind can know a lot of things generally we have three type of interaction actions in the mode of goodness in the mode of passion or in the mode of ignorance the mind which is
very intelligent but not necessarily it has the capability to make a decision which could be right or [Music] wrong namaskar mauai and welcome back to Soul yatra it's been a while uh but I'm delighted to uh share that today we have a very special guest with us but before we go to him for his introduction uh wanted to share about today's topic uh the topic is I think very dominant in today's world it's about mental health which I think everyone's talking about everyone's concerned about uh but what I thought was that let's bring a different
perspective to this uh until probably a century ago or even a less than that was mental health such an issue I don't think so and I'm sure you all will agree with me so what has changed and why did not it exist before so in this strive when I was trying to get answers uh it was interesting I said why are we looking outward because we actually have so much of intelligence and so much of guidance for us from our within own ancient text scriptures which uh you know we trying to make it more complicated
now and on that is where on those lines we are going to talk today and our guest is going to throw some interesting uh light on on from a perspective which I think is usually not looked at it because Wellness Health is very connected with medical world Medical Science but then do we really have to wait to reach that stage where we need that help you know there is a certain discipline uh which is based on Ancient uh Indian texts and this discipline is based on something which is called a fundamental um approach called punch
Kos now punch Kos means punch means five in in Sanskrit or Hindi and Kos means Lair or sheath now you might be wondering what has this got to do with health but we'll come to that soon so It is believed that we have hierarchal hierarchial levels of energy in our body which is from gross to subtle so gross is what we look outward and then as we try to go within us we go we go towards the subtlest what we call so from the most gross or most course we go to the subtle which we
call sukma Shar is what we call in Hindi and in this journey the outermost layer what I said five right the outermost layer is the physical body which we call the anamay Kos beyond that is the astral body or the energy layer which is called the pranay Kos the third Kos which is called the manomay Kos which means the mind or the mental body beyond the third Kos is the fourth Kos the fourth K is the interesting one which is called the wisdom body or the intellect of an individual so it's interesting right that you
have a mind but then we are saying now there is a sheath which is beyond that which is called intellect which seem to be little more subtle than mind and then beyond that is what we call the causal body or the Karan Shar or the Bliss body and the soul is engulfed in these five layers so when you start looking inward through this penetration of these layers ultimately you reach the Bliss body and you meet your soul and that's what we hear you know that go within you look into your conscience now this whole play
of health is between the mental health is between this journey from the manomay Kos or the Mind Body to the viyan May Kosh which is the wisdom body and that's where we are going to get some interesting insights from uh from a person who I met last year so he visited Us in Manila last year and we interacted and I I had the fortune to hear some of his uh discourses and I thought wow who says these things are religious so that's another disclaimer I want to give that the things he's going to share they
come from ancient script they do come from what we call our Hindu scripts but I I want to make it very clear that these scripts do not mandate anyone to follow any any specific religion because they are not really they don't have anything to do with you have to worship a certain God or you have to follow a certain religion they are pure guidance humanitarian guidance which is applicable to all human beings in this world so I've already made you wait so without further Ado let's move towards our Guru G whom I met last year
and let's welcome him uh Namaste guruji and absolute delight and pleasure to have you here so before we start please I we I would invite you to introduce yourself har my obes is humble obes to all this is ywar Das from brindavan India brindan is the place of Sri radak Krishna the Divine forms of Love Bliss and peace I belong to Sri gopinath gamat which is an lineage from Sri chaitan Maha prabu the Divine form of love who showed us the path of Love who introduced the path of love love 500 years back in India
and the followers of ritan Maha pru especially this Gia sad I belong to Sri gopin gimat thank you and once again welcome so as we were talking and as I was just sharing that you know this modern day crisis of mental health and inner happiness which is really a challenge nowadays uh how do we you how do we bring out this profound treasure or wealth what we have uh as a preventive mode rather than ultimately ending up with a psychiatrist or going for depression uh medicines what are the things we can do which would apply
to not just you know corporates or a housewife applies to generally all of us and how do we become that peaceful individuals while we continue to do our day-to-day work because life cannot stop we need to have we have to earn we have to do a whole bunch of things we have to grow children but how do we bring this mind and wisdom together to make us independent and not dependent on external support for you know depression anger management you know nowadays you have so many things right so here I over to you uh if
you could give us you know small little guidances and and according to the scriptures of India first we should understand that it is not a religion based thing correct this Hindu name came from some Invaders the system the ancient system of India is called sanatana Dharma the real meaning of sanatana is which does not have any beginning and which does not have any end in sanatana Dharma also so we find some places the Supreme Lord himself giving in instructions like sad bhagwat Gita and shat bhagwatam so when we refer the scriptures the time is divided
between four ages Golden Age Silver age like we call it sat yug y d d and now Kali iron AG in Iron AG Kali means the age of ignorance one side we are seeing there is lot of technological development human being has made so many advances and uh in the second phase we see that uh we are suffering as you told mentally sufferings have increased mental sufferings have increased because before it was like community living and uh having support from friends and relatives was that was human I mean to tell now it is like uh
online like your friend is wishing you just by Emoji is sending a kind message what is the difference between human interaction and this what you call technological or which is online or mechanical and that's where I was telling that we have as in our discipline we've already said that the intelligent there is a difference between the wisdom and mind right because the mind can know a lot of things but does it have the discretion to understand how does it use it knowledge right or wrong the technology what you're saying when physical interactions are giving us
lot of mental satisfaction than mechanical interactions or indirect interactions because if you see all living beings belong to one supreme being so we are all connected one way in our all our hearts our mind we all have certain desires and those desires we can fulfill by interacting with other individuals and in society so you're saying I think the message I'm getting out of this is that the first discipline should be that we've become virtual we've become very phone based um you know we're all living nuclear family versus an interaction where we spend time talking more
to each other talking interacting talk or you know sharing yeah sharing right because when you're together you not just talk because your body language you know your energy interacts right so I'm that's what I'm getting out of that apart from this uh I would really want to know hear from you and so that we can share it with everyone what are some of the key guidances which come from our you know shlokas or mantras what can really make a difference in our Behavior behavioral change or how can we make sure that our youth understand that
these are not just Godly lines but scriptures but they are applicable in our daily life if You observe human beings generally we have three type of interactions in the mode of goodness goodness in the mode of passion or in the mode of ignorance I can Give an example sometimes according to certain situations we use our wisdom intelligent we take a proper decision but sometimes that is in the mode of goodness sometimes we react in Anger violence mood of Revenge which is Passion sometimes like mode of ignorance we break down we cry we feel helpless so
generally our interaction with people or situation is in these three modes so according to again scriptures as human beings we have wisdom and intelligence to take us towards mode of goodness which is called satk satk B and this mode of goodness I think we can start from food because you are what you eat when you eat food which is in the mode of goodness generally your mind will be calm and when you are eating food which is full of passion we'll be full of anger anxieties can you elaborate on that a little because it's a
it's a difficult topic right because it is about prescribing between certain you know I mean different type of food but then what it like these days we call vegan vegan food so food which consists of grains flowers also vegetables even milk products maybe vegan people may not agree with me these are in the mode of goodness food which is pungent spicy this comes in mode of passion so it's okay to take to some moderate level right but not make it a daily habit pent in the sense you can use ginger chili some spicy green chili
but what is happening these days is we are going for uh food we are experimenting with food yeah that's what so too many experiments so too many experiments which our inner body is not able to take so if I interpret what you're saying for the Simplicity of people basically we've got basic food grains let's not experiment too much let's not make add too much spices on a daily level that food should be digestible within 6 to 8 hours otherwise what is happening it is becoming toxic these days whatever we call as lifestyle diseases it may
be sugar diabetes cancer chest everything is connected with our digestion when you come to again Indian this thing system called ayura the doctors tell it is nothing but airum what we are eating we are not able to digest and that is becoming toxin it is going to different the wastage has to go out of the body that wastage when it is not going out on time it is entering different parts of our body it is becoming toxin which is leading to diseases and because of that type of lifestyle diseases our mental condition also Detroits great
so let me give you based on that I'll I'll definitely want to give an example on what he said based on ayurveda so just for everyone's understanding uh our digestive tract is about 22 ft long and it has a long process of what we eat the food to go through a digestive process so first of all if we eat too many different types of food when I say type means it could be Basics are carbs and proteins but if we eat a food like a buffet where too many food have been experimented then the digestion
process gets confused I'll have a separate uh uh podcast to explain about that entire digestive process but our liver has a capacity limited capacity to release digestive enzymes and then if we don't if we eat too much it gets confused and it doesn't know what enzymes to release and the food how does it get processed and one most important thing I want to talk about is we're not supposed to have too something too cold or even water few or at least 40 minutes before food or after because then otherwise your the fire in the belly
fire what we call the jarag it's not going to be active so your food will never process hence it will rot in your 22 ft long intestine and you can imagine what the outcome would be so that's what he's trying to say lesser variety or types of food on a daily basis and eat at a longer gaps rather than having short gaps so that's going to help our digestive process which in turn is going to have an overall influence which in turn again influences mental wealth it's all connected mental physical physical mental back to you
again that was food that was food for the body yeah now now let us come food for the Mind our soul so again if you come to Indian scriptures we get to know that as you are explaining that gross body and subtle body we are always giving importance to our gross body and we never give importance to our subtle body subtle body consists of Mind intelligence ego Consciousness Soul Etc even the senses you can tell are subtle so there are five working senses five collecting senses mind is the boss mind when we can feel those
things like with mind whenever we are thinking whether I do this or not this process is the important job of the mind then controlling the senses is the job of the Mind above mind is intelligence we take some decisions with intelligence ego is that part which tells I am the doer I am doing this I am doing that Consciousness is thinking things of the past future and the present it is called chitt so all together this subtle body I think we are not feeding that so in ancient scriptures both subtle body and gross body are
given importance it is called like having proper balance between both yeah on that note you were mentioning the other day uh from the bhagat Gita you mentioned some quotes we would love to hear that like uh shat bhagad is an conversation between Arjuna and Krishna the conversation is on a battlefield correct before War so Arjuna is like the hero of Mahabharat but on Battlefield he feels he feels that whether this war is NE necessary we can avoid this he's a soldier he's a general of an army and he's feeling demotivated he's getting negative thoughts and
he surrenders to Lord SRI Krishna who removes all his doubts so while it is completely in question answer form what I like about the Indian scriptures is you can see any scriptures in India it is based on question and answer there is interaction the audience also is given a chance to clear their doubts it is not just orders or Commandments you have a choice you are given a choice this is in the mode of goodness this is in the mode of passion this is in the mode of ignorance what you like it may be food
it may be lifestyle everything it is in the form of question and answers now Arjuna is asking questions Lord Krishna is clearing his doubt and suddenly Arjuna tells chrishna because in the sixth chapter of bhita Krishna is telling mind is your best friend mind is your best enemy Arjuna is confused what is this talk actually mind only takes us to towards negativity mind only is taking us towards positivity so mind's role is the most important in our life and especially what you are telling last 100 years more mental problems or illness because before 100 years
if you see lifestyle it was more importance on body people working so hard to maintain their family life or maintain themselves but today if you see life has become so easy even work from home you're not engaging into physical activity and on that note I just want to reiterate or bring us back that as when I started I said how we have a journey from gross to subtle so what Guru G is talking about that manomay Kos or the mind which which is very intelligent but not necessarily it has the capability to make a decision
which could be right or wrong so for example the mind is so intelligent it knows that's R color red that's green that's a rose flower but the Mind does not know that does that flower is the neighbor flowers and I'm not supposed to pluck it that's where then the intellectual mind is developed which we call the vigan May Kos I want to bring to your notice think of the word it's called vigan Kos vigyan means science that letter word means science but which also means the spiritual mind so this clarifies spirit being spiritual is not
necessarily meaning you're only sitting in a you know worship place and you're you're just doing nothing being spiritual means making the right decisions being intellectual and that's what he saying that the mind can oscillate to negativity to positivity but how do you develop beyond that the next layer where the mind is supported by the intellect and this is where the guidelines from the scriptures what we hear from our elders become the source of that intellect the intellect which guides the mind and on that note examples from that that some of the quotes or some of
the guidance Krishna would have given Arjun or anywhere else you know which can really be applied in today's Modern Life same sixth chapter Krishna is telling concentrating our mind towards the Supreme Lord so Supreme Lord has given us different instructions how to live in this material world and how to come back to him but many times we see in society many people don't believe in God they are atheist but even so-called atheist also having his own sets of rules which we can call as morality yeah so we can say that okay you don't have to
the instruction is a value system you can create without necessarily being following a particular Lord and which is Moral Moral Val moral values so what I mean to tell is yeah except other living beings human human beings are trying to follow some moral values human beings can understand what is good what is bad so that intelligence we human beings are having by which we can uplift ourself or degrade ourselves this uplifting ourselves needs the help of mind a lot because whatever we call as fear anger revengeful mod anxieties doubts this all belong to mind if
we can't uplift our mind these all will take us towards negativity great so now that this mind is so powerful and is the source of everything so what will be the best formula you can give us which this mind can be used and it can be applied in today's world without anybody to do go to a temple or to go to a institution or to you know go you know spend extra time something which can be done in a practical way so according to Vic scriptures in this age of Kali there is only one way
to come to spirituality to control our mind to bring happiness peace and love in our life that is so there is a conversation between narad Rishi and Lord Brahma and Lord Brahma is telling Haram Haram means chanting the holy names of the Supreme Lord chanting the holy names of the Supreme Lord chanting the holy names of supreme Lord there is no other way there is no other way there is no other way and for this again from scand puran it is telling this can chanting the holy names can be done in any country any time
of the day and there are no rules and regulation again in one place it is called while eating also you can chant the holy names while sleeping also while drinking also walking also Anytime You Can chant the holy names so this is called actually Mantra I was in between in Malaysia it's some students and I was asking them whether they have fear anger and anxieties and whether they like to have love Bliss and peace you just imagine both are connected with mind anger fear anxiety is also in mind and love peace and Bliss also in
mind where there is love peace and Bliss there can't be anger anxieties and fears so you choose one one is positivity one is negativity one is light one is Darkness both can't be together be there is light there is no Darkness but how to bring that light in our life that is the important question so I asked them I'm coming from India and whether in Malaysia you have any soap for the Mind any shampoo for the Mind any super food for the mind or any machine for the mind which can take you from this negative
place to the positive place it can take from you from Darkness to brightness and all these students are looking at me then I said I'm coming from India and we have a thing called Mantra we all today Mantra is an Universal word word but most of the people don't know what is the meaning of Mantra Mantra is a mixture or two words are joined together it is Sanskrit word man and yantra man is mind yantra is a machine a machine for the mind and in that again Lord Brahma is telling to Narada I can give
so many references for this this one particular Mantra is called Maham Mantra in vuran brahmanda puran bhagat chaitan charish and lot of other scriptures which is H har Krishna H har Krishna Krishna Krishna H har H har H har H har H H here there are three words H har Krishna and Rama in Sanskrit a thief is called har Lord Supreme Lord is called har because he steals our mind our heart our Consciousness towards him same Supreme Lord who is cause of all causes his mind heart and Consciousness is attracted sto stolen by STI radharani
so radharani is called here har we are hiding her in this Mantra because she is the source of Happiness sometimes we have to hide our happiness we tell in India like someone may put some bad eye on you we have to hide that happiness oh that's very beautifully described so so har is Rani and Krishna means Krish means who is all attractive and and Nam is who gives us blissfulness in return and here what Ram word is used it is Radha Ramana the most beautiful aspect of this radak Krishna is there are always miss Krishna
is playing the flute Radha and her friends all are dancing the mood of romance music and dance love please and peace the ultimate goal of all living beings is love pleas and peace and this is what by chanting this a so great uh you know as you just heard Mantra is man which is mind yantra is machine so this is the machine of the mind now here is what I want to add to what guruji said now what he gave us the Mantra may not resonate with people who do not know this particular sect so
people who may not be able to resonate with this if they are not from this sect I I want to share that while guruji gave us the literary meaning of this there's another also concept of it which is it is based on sound so when you chant anything there is a frequency which is created in your body so for example he just gave us beautiful meanings of these words on the on the other side when you say Ram it comes from the root word RAM and RAM is a sound which is generated by your solar
plexus so if you go to the plexuses or which are called chakras there is a sound which each chakra generates but because human ears cannot hear anything below you know 20 Herz we don't hear it that sound of solar plexus is rum and the sound of your heart plexus or anahat chakra is Yum so rum rum rum if you keep chanting this you are invoking your solar plexus and your heart plexus so to live in this world you need the the solar plexus which is the the the chakra of creation all the organs are there
the digestive organs and of course heart plexus similarly I want to give an example so in India we say Naran but in Buddhist chanting there ising now if you if you'll relate the nasal word Anga n is here now medically if you it has been tested that if you keep chanting this this frequency what created in your mouth invokes your front parital cortex which for forces to release Gaba Inhibitors that is one of the neurotransmitters out of the seven which is an inhibitor so it inhibits any kind of stress so your blood pressure will not
go up in short what I'm trying to say there are literally meanings literal meanings but there are related other goodness Associated from a medical term as long as you chant it can work a medicine for your mind I also want to share if if anyone's not comfortable by using these particular word you're most welcome to use from your scriptures or anywhere I'm sure each one has been given a guidance but the bottom line is that we all must do it I think I was mentioning about you know a century ago why was stress wasn't there
people from different cultures religions they did what they were guided to which has kind of degenerated over the years so I would really urge uh that all of us bring back our cultural treasure what we have and we start using them which will be a big help to the mental health challenge what we have today in our society starting from very young age of kids which is a little scary you know children when we were children we didn't even know what worry or stress was but today's children are so I I hope this session was
helpful and please feel free to reach out for any questions clarifications what you have anything which we can convey to Guru G will make sure you have the ability to reach out to him as well thank you guruji it was an extremely you know interesting session and we look forward to have more thank you and as always don't forget to like subscribe and share the channel see you soon again thank you [Music]
