Think it's time for a glow up. So, the winter uglies are in full force over here, except for Lady. She's looking perfect, per usual.
And look, there's nothing wrong with looking like this. When we start falling into the winter uglies, it's not because we're ugly. It's just a sign that we have not been taking care of ourselves.
I've been resetting all these different aspects of my life, working really hard to set new routines, new rituals, but I think in getting my entire life together, I have been neglecting me. So, in this video, I'm going to be giving you the ultimate guide for how to actually glow up in 24 hours. You guys know I have been huge on my hair journey recently.
I've been following the Abby Young hair method only for like a month and a half, but I've honestly been seeing such a difference already in my hair. The very first step of this glow up for me is to oil my hair. This hair oil has rosemary.
Your scalp health is so important, not only for hair growth, but just for like keeping and maintaining your hair's health. Okay, so while my hair oil is marinating, the next step in my glow up that I always have to do is move my body in some sort of way. I like just phrasing it like moving my body because this could be any sort of movement that just makes me feel strong and good.
Recently, I've been doing a little bit of at home yoga and Pilates every morning and it honestly just puts me in the best mood and mindset moving forward for my day. Sometimes I'll even play affirmations while doing it, which I never used to do before, but it honestly just gives me such a little boost. For a glow up, we are just trying to shake off any bad mindset, any extra stress.
And I think that moving your body in some way that makes you feel refreshed and gives your brain those endorphins is really important. It really doesn't matter what it is, but I just try to prioritize movement that makes me feel strong and happy afterwards. I always start my everything shower off by dry brushing.
Basically, just doing these circular motions. Dr brushing has all of these skin and health benefits like getting rid of dead skin cells, naturally boosting your energy and stimulating your lymph flow, which is so important to helping your body get rid of toxins. Then I hop in the shower and do absolutely everything from body scrub to shaving.
So, my skin literally feels brand new. Stay tuned. I think I'm going to do a full everything shower routine very soon.
Well, it may be the winter Olympics, but I think the real Olympic sport is the everything shower. Why does it always feel like I just went to war after an everything shower? Going to put on all of my moisturizers now, which is important always, but especially in the winter when it's so cold.
I have been absolutely loving this Athena Club Golden Vanilla Moisturizer. Pair that with a vanilla body oil to seal everything in. And I never used to do any of this, but trust, if you want your skin to be soft and your scents to last all day, you have to moisturize and use body oil after your shower.
We're going to do a little face massage. I like to use a little bit of my road glazing milk. I watched a tutorial on this one time.
I don't really know what I'm doing, but this is what I do. You have to like open up your lymph nodes by pressing them, and I like press each one 10 times, where I think they are at least. I don't know if I'm doing this correctly.
You don't even need a tool for this. You could just use your hands, but I like getting in there with this cuz it feels like I'm really doing something. Then I just kind of go in with my hands as well.
I honestly sometimes feel like that's better because I don't really know what I'm doing with the gouache. Next thing, we are shaving my face. I think the scientific term for this is dermablading.
Apparently, this also has a bunch of skin benefits for you. I don't know if you can see that. I actually did this not that long ago, so not a ton is coming off, but sometimes it's crazy, but I love doing this because it always makes me feel way glowier.
My makeup goes on so much smoother. Okay, now for my hair routine. I just posted an updated curly hair routine, but my kind of universal things that I've been doing, no matter if you have curly hair or not, starting with a heat protectant, a three in one, so it's also just a leave-in like cream.
I rake this through my hair. I kind of go overboard, especially the first day with like the leave-in conditioners and stuff. scalp serum.
Take this bonding serum through and finish with a gel. Now I'm going to pluck my eyebrows, which is something I hate doing. I really want to get my eyebrows threaded, but I'm like scared.
How do you put your trust in somebody with something like your eyebrows? I just don't understand. >> Oh my god.
I've been plucking my eyebrows since I was 13. Unfortunately, don't pluck your eyebrows if you're 13. Just let me tell you that because when I was 13, plucked my eyebrows so thin and I honestly regret it.
There was literally nothing wrong with my eyebrows. Now, I really try to keep them as thick as possible, but I've been plucking my eyebrows since I was 13 and it just never gets better. Okay, so now we just have to go blow dry my hair and that will be the end of phase one.
And then tomorrow we'll wake up and do phase two. Welcome to phase two where we will be focusing on our internal glow up. I truly believe that a glow up is literally just you finding your spark, you finding your sparkle.
If that means self-care to kind of make yourself feel loved and cared for, amazing. But I think a big part of self-care is also fueling our internal and taking care of our mind. My most recent hobby is reading.
I know, who am I? But reading is one of those things that I feel like makes me feel so good, but often gets put on the back burner. So, in today's glow up, we are going to take some time to actually read.
And here's your sign to take a little bit of time, even just like 5, 10, 15 minutes, whatever you can to do one of your hobbies or try out a new hobby to find something that brings you some joy because it's really important. Also, it's Monday, so I'm going to plan out my week, which I feel like definitely helps me feel just more secure and like at my best for the week. So, I actually already made my little layout yesterday.
It's been like my new favorite habit to do. I'll show more in detail this soon. So, now I'm going to go ahead and actually fill this in.
I'm going this way. Look at all these tracks. Do you think they're cool, lady?
Said it before and I'll say it again. Get outside. Even if it's cold.
We just had a big snowstorm and it's kind of cold out here, but it's gorgeous and the cold air feels so good. Drss properly and no weather is bad weather. build outside time into your routine because it truly can like just make you feel so much better.
I literally always feel better after I get outside. Sometimes when I'm just like kind of in a funk and I really don't want to do anything, I just force myself to go for a walk and I instantly feel better. There really is some sort of magic to it.
So, never underestimate the power of getting outside. This was very important for my glow up routine. Put a duck under a branch.
And it's so fun to do with ladies as well. I feel like it's a bonding activity. It's not pink.
I did think this was going to be pink. So, good morning everybody. Oh my god.
I actually look horrifying. What are you doing on that lady? You guys know I become such a press on girly.
The trick to making them last is to literally prep your nails. Push back my cuticles. I cut my nails.
I file them. And then I also put glue all over my nail instead of just one tiny little dot. And that seems to also really help.
These look so cute. Valentine's Day is over. But I feel like this is going to keep the pink whimsy romantic love month vibes going for me and I love that.
And recently, I've been seeing people put tinsel in their hair, and I was like, you know what? I think I think it's time. The idea of having pink sparkles in my hair, we're doing it.
After watching several videos about how to do this, I was just getting more and more confused. So, I just kind of ended up making my own way. I put the bead on the hook and then hooked the tinsel, pulled the bead down onto the tinsel, and then made a slip knot around.
And I did the exact same motion except this time with my hair as the tinsel and then clamped the bead shut. And editing me can now tell you this has lasted over a week. I feel like a sparkly fairy.
I like that it's like very subtle, but it's just like this little extra glimmer sparkle. Personally, I think it's really cute. Let's do my makeup and chat about glow up.
I do makeup pretty much every single day, even if I don't have somewhere to go, just because it feels like such therapy. Just like being with me, myself, and I in the mirror and having fun with all this like glitzy, glammy, fun, sparkly things like that just feeds my soul. You do not need to do makeup, however, to glow up.
You don't need to do anything I've done in this video to glow up. And that's what we're going to talk about while I do my makeup. Some glow-ups on the internet are so intense.
I remember watching videos of people spend literally thousands of dollars in like a 24-hour span of time when I was like in high school and stuff watching glow. That just never sat right with me. And I hope that in this video I have showed you that you do not need to spend a lot of money in order to glow up.
There's not ever going to be like one single product or one single beauty treatment or anything that is going to make you glow up. I don't think there's anything wrong with doing like beauty treatments here or there. But the focus for a glow up I really think should be on making yourself feel better.
I really like to think of all these things more as self-care than trying to look hotter, prettier. When I make these glow videos or do any sort of like beauty self-care rituals, I never want you guys to think that I'm saying that there's something wrong with the before, but more so it's a sign that I just haven't been taking the time to take care of myself. I don't think glow-ups need to be about changing yourself, but more so about unlocking the glow that you already have.
Because we all have a glow or a sparkle, and it's something that you feel. It's something you emit. For me, it's important to do self-care to make my skin, my hair feel cared for, but also just like my mind.
It's like slowing down to take an everything shower isn't just to look better after. It's it's to dedicate that evening to slowing down and being with myself and just doing a nice thing for myself. And things like getting outside, moving my body, dedicating time to hobbies and creative things have to be paired with the self-care in order for me to feel glowed up.
In this phase three where we are adding the sparkle things like putting tinsel in my hair or we're doing really pretty fun nails and doing my makeup are just these little things that add joy to my life. For example, something I've started doing is adding sparkles to my makeup. This highlighter, like I love adding this as like a topper to my blush.
Like if I can add some sparkles to my day, why not? I want to remind you that our glow-ups can look different. What unleashes my joy might be a little bit different than what feels really good to you and collecting so many sparkly lip products.
On the hunt for the perfect one. My favorite right now is this Jesu lip oil. Genuinely just makes my morning routine so much more fun.
Putting sparkles on my face I feel like on the daily is something I feel like in high school I would have been so self-conscious to do because I know that people would have been like hm like what's on your face? you sparkled on your face. Like what's the occasion?
And that is just something that I have learned. Like I'm just going to tune that out. And I don't need an occasion.
Dare to, you know, do the things that make you feel whimsical and joyful. So yeah, I don't know if any of this is making sense. Please comment down below your thoughts.
But I just think that when you're thinking about a glow up for yourself, pay attention to the things in your life that just bring you a little bit of extra joy. Cuz it's within those things that you are going to find your glow. That is what's actually going to help you glow up.
Okay, 24 hours later, we've reached the final phase of this video, our final glowed up form. Do I have anywhere to wear this? Absolutely not.
We're literally about to have a snowstorm. But why not wear a cute princess dress every now and then in your room? I feel like we have successfully glowed up inside and out.
Remember, you don't have to have an occasion. Your life is the occasion. I feel so good.
Like I just looking at my curls right now is just making me so happy. And I just feel like myself again in general. I feel like all the things that we did together in this video just left me feeling really refreshed and like my own sparkle is back.
And now I can get back to trying to do all the productive things in my life. But at least we have taken some self-care times for ourselves. So remember, a glow up is not about trying to change anything that's wrong with you.
Should be about just trying to unlock the glow that you already have. I am getting really excited for spring looking at myself because I can't wait to actually be able to wear this dress out. Love you all so much.
Thank you so much for watching this video. Comment down below your ideas for glow up rituals, things that you think fit the theme of unlocking our glow. I love you so, so much and I will see you in my next video.
Bye.
