in the world of Avatar humans are not the only important entity quite the opposite actually that's because humans and Spirits coexist together even more so after the events of Legend of Kora where the portal between human and spirit world was opened but now how many of the spirits can you recall and how many of those do you fully understand well today we'll be explaining all 15 major spirits that were shown in the world of Avatar before we begin we should clarify that today we will not be covering the cases of characters like Roku Ang iro
Fang or UI that had a physical entity and later on became Spirits rather we will only be considered considering pure spirits instead and not humans or animals that later on just had a spiritual body as well so let's begin the first major Spirit we will analyze is none other than the first Spirit we actually saw in the series Hai you see Hai had been the protector of a forest just outside sendin Village for thousands of years after the forest was destroyed he became enraged and unaware that it was in fact due to the actions of
the Fire Nation he began targeting the nearby Village and blaming the occupants as the winter solstice Drew near HEI transformed into his monstrous form and terrified The Village by abducting one villager each day at Sunset when Avatar Ang came to the Village he attempted to reason with Hai but was unsuccessful he became violent toward Ang prompting Saka to help the ladder by attacking the angered spirit with his boomerang however Hai quickly overpowered and kidnapped Saka and took him to the spirit world later in an attempt to calm the angered spirit and showed Hai that acorns
that cover the floor of the burnt Forest reassuring the spirit that the forest would grow back his anger faded and he returned to his normal form taking the acorn in his mouth and leaving through The Village's gate from that gate sprouted bamboo stalks from which the missing villagers including Saka stumbled out of after R met with Co HEI returned to give him a ride back to the Gateway out of the spirit world he shot a stream of light from his mouth toward Ang sending him back to the physical world months later when Ang was in
a coma induced by Princess azula's lightning Hai appeared to help him at his quest to heal the Avatar Spirit by visiting his most recent past lives when a tried to speak with the Painted Lady not knowing it was qara in Disguise he mentioned being good friends with Hai okay so while explaining Hai we also mentioned Co but who exactly was Co let's find out Co was born to the mother of faces thousands of years before the Year War over time he increasingly interacted with the human world and started to carry out punishments against perceived wrongdoers
as well as answer questions to those morals brave enough to face him he also had other spirits who reported to him his behavior resulted in some discontent among more ancient Spirits such as father gloworm who believed that Co set a bad example by allowing any human to approach it when iI and Avatar kurak were getting married cured II to the spirit world where he stole her face and trapped her forever as punishment for kurak's arrogant ways kuroro was determined to end CO's life but when he eventually met the spirits he could not go through with
it as K realized that killing Co would also destroy the love of his life despite KK's vindictive actions Co himself held no personal grudge against other avatars as they were different incarnations during the hundred-year war Cole stole the face of a young northern water tribe citizen Rafa though CO's mother later gave the young man a new face Ang appealed to co for information regarding the moon and ocean Spirits twe and law when Co warned the Avatar of impending danger the spirits faced Ang asked for their location in the mortal world but the spirit would not
provide a clear answer and merely stated that they were opposites forever revolving what he told that the boy had already met the spirits the face stealer barely missed D's expression of epiphany when he realized that the identities of twe and La were the koifish in the spirit Oasis before rang left Co stated they would meet again which they did when Ang found himself in the spirit world after being struck by asula's lightning in the crystal catacombs of old bossing say during that encounter Co attempted to steal the young Avatar's face before he reconciled with his
past lives but ultimately failed in doing so having mentioned Co let's move on to his mother next and yeah for anyone wondering we found out about the mother of faces during the events of the avatar The Last Airbender Comics even further than that her story is connected to Zuko's mother and what truly happened both before and after the events of the 100y Year War hear this since the dawn of time the mother of faces has crafted faces for both living and non-living beings placing a piece of herself in each face she created it was because
of her actions that separated this and identity came into the world during this time the mother of faces became estranged from her son who later became known as Co the face dealer the mother of faces was often sought out by humans who usually requested her to give them a new face and identity this being offended by people when they rejected the faces she had created for them she pied them enough to grant their request however the mother of faces would only Grant one request to one human once a season when that time comes she travels
through forgetful Valley following the path her wolf spirit had chosen for her and looked for a human whose wish she would Grant during one of her travels through the forest the mother of faces encountered IIM who had been living there as a Hermit she was asked to Grant him a new face and complied with the request enabling him to return to Hira as norin and start his new life few years later the mother of fais was again visited by ium this time joined by UR AKA Zuko's mother who also wished to have a new face
to hide her identity the spirit was surprised that a woman of such beauty would desire this so she offered her a much plainer face to test her sincerity which Ursa accepted this new face regardless of its appearance sensing that Ursa was experiencing great emotional pain the spirit offered to erase her memories associated with them as well though she confirmed that the former Fire Nation princess would not remember her children as well being a part of those memories Ursa accepted both gifts so the mother of faces gave her a new identity as norico sometime after the
war ended the mother of faces was approached by by Ang who had been brought to her by clutching onto her Wolf's fur enraged that somebody would use her wolf as a beast of burden she demanded his name learning she was being confronted by the Avatar she introduced herself as the mother of fais and followed him back to where the rest of his friends were waiting she introduced herself again as a generous spirit soft-hearted and kind responsible for the separation and the concept of identity in the world she told them that she walked through her Forest
once a season but never strayed from the path her wolf chose for her though had done so now in deference to the Avatar the great bridge between the spirits and the humans she told them that she granted one to one human each season and invited them to make their request although Ang tried to convince her to Grant two wishes to his group the mother of faces remained adamant that she would only Grant one wish misu was given the chance to request a new face for her brother Rafa but was interrupted by isula who asked the
spirit where her and Zuko's mother Ura was the mother of faces revealed urs's new identity as noro and proceeded to sink back into the water misu waterbent at the spirits but the mother of faces admonished her for bending the water of Her Sacred pool before receding back underwater and claimed her to be cruel by not granting the second wish which prompted the spirit once again to rise from the pool she explained how she crafted faces as gifts for humans and felt as though they were offending her by demanding new faces and by making her a
slave she further admonished the Avatar For defiling Her Sacred pool and scolding her and declared him just as bad as other humans the mother of faces demanded that Ang and his friends leave the forest while trying to defend himself one of Ang's air blasts knocked off Rafa's mask revealing him to be faceless Ang remarked how similar it seemed to the work of Co which piqu the mother of Face's interest demanding her anals be silent after rang repeated what he knew about Co she revealed that he was her son and that Co was not the name
she had given him she asked Ang about how he had met Co and listened as he told her about their previous encounters the mother of faces felt CO's handywork on Rafa's face and immediately restored it afterward she listened to Wang's apologies who explained that they needed two favors to restore two different relationships this time between a mother and a son this likely struck a chord with the spirit regarding her own estrangement from Co the mother of faces follow them out a forgetful Valley and toward Hira where she found and asked noro if she wanted to
remember her old life as her son she accepted the offer and the mother of faces restor her memories and original face we just mentioned a wolf spirit but who exactly was this Spirit you see Legend has it that the wolf spirit will appear in the forgetful Valley and drink from one of the four pools of water the mother of faces will appear at whichever pool the wolf chooses to drink from when team Avatar was traveling to Hira in search of information about Ursa Ang began feeling a strange urge to constrict his face and sense the
presence of the wolf spirit he adopted an expression similar to the face like markings the wolf spirit has on its chest Ang briefly saw the wolf spirit a short while later before being distracted by ula's quick desertion the wolf spirit appeared again and attempted to GW off saker's head when a tried to respectfully approach the spirit and revealed his position as the Avatar the wolf spirit quickly attacked him instead Avatar tried multiple ways of attacking the spirits all to no avail until AA swiped the wolf spirit with his tail the wolf retaliated by throwing up
a cloud of moth wasps which quickly surrounded team Avatar the spirit was eventually scared off by azula's lightning attack that struck the moths Ang met with the wolf spirit again in the spirit world and tried to encourage it to travel to one of the other pools in the forgetful Valley to drink from however the wolf spirit did not show any sign of remorse and suddenly ran off Ang managed to grab hold of the spirit's fur and found himself in front of the mother of faces admonish D for riding her wolf but going back to the
original show the next Spirits we will analyze are the duo of the Moon and ocean Spirits also known as twe and La twe also known as the moon Spirits is one of two spirits that reside in the spirit Oasis at the North Pole within the northern water trib's Capital City taking the form of a white koish with a large black spot on its head together with its counterpart law these Spirits were among the first ones to come to the mortal world and a pair have kept balance ever since in an internal dance of push and
pull as the moon Spirit twe was the first waterbender and the root of all water bending in the event of twe's absence water benders lose their bending ability plus twe is known to possess healing abilities as do the water benders reportedly near the beginning of time twe and La chose to manifest themselves in the mortal world to benefit mankind they lived within the spiritual center of the North Pole and took the form of two koifish thereafter the spirit Oasis became the city's most treasured Landmark when Princess UI was born she was Gravely ill and on
the brink of death so her father Chief arnuk and mother brought her to the spirit Oasis and prayed for the spirits to save her life we answered their prayers and saved the princess by passing on some of its own life force although twe had saved U Chief arnuk had a dream that his daughter would one day have to share twe's place as the moon Spirit many years later Admiral Xiao launched a massive attack on the northern water tribe on behalf of the Fire Nation determined to make a legend of himself shall LED his personal guard
into the Royal Palace to kill the moon Spirit whose mortal existence he had learned from Wong's Library twe was captured by Xiao causing the spiritual equivalent of a lunar eclipse and removing the power of all water benders jro intervened and threatened Xiao that any harm inflicted on the spirit would be Unleashed on him t-fold xia appeared to heed io's warning releasing twe back into the water of the Oasis but the spirit was then abruptly murdered by Xiao with a blast of fire bending much to the horror of catara Ang and iro tw's death led to
a lapse in spiritual balance and water bending ceased to exist taking the slain koi fish into his hands iro realized that Yu held some of tw's Life Energy inside her Yi then understood she had the choice and responsibility to return this energy to TW was sacrificing herself in order to resurrect it after twe had returned to life and the moon was restored y's physical form vanished from Sak's arms transcending as a moon Spirit shared with twe that's rough buddy when it comes to the ocean Spirit now well you better believe it was not pleased when
its partner for thousands of years was murdered making eye contact with L hang entered the Avatar State and walked into the water of the spirit Oasis where the ocean Spirits started swimming around him the two fused to form koizilla a colossal fish-like figure and quickly annihilated the Fire Nation land forces and navy Fleet with their Superior your water bending when L noticed that twe had been revived by Princess hu's sacrifice the spirit ceased its destructive Rampage and separated from Ang leaving him at the city's ice walls and returned to the spirit Oasis on its way
it encountered a dueling Xiao and zuka to avenge the attack on twe the ocean Spirit formed an arm out of the water and draged Xiao below the surface ultimately imprisoning him in the fog of lost souls but what exactly is the fog of lost souls it's nothing short of a separate Spirit itself hear this the fog of lost souls is a prison for humans located within the spirit world it is inhabited by a sentient fog spirit that can infect the minds of individuals gradually driving them insane by imprisoning them in their own darkest memories jinora
was brought to the fog of lost souls after being captured by unah her imprisonment to the fog caused her connection to the physical world to weaken and prompted tensin bumi and Kaa to journey into the spirit world in order to retrieve her spirit after getting lost iro arrived with a knowledge Seeker to guide them out but on learning of their reason for being there he offered words of caution and a cryptic hint of where Jora might be before Vanishing tensen quickly realized that Ira was referring to the fog when the three siblings went through this
Spirit fog tenz and urged his siblings to remain focused to no avail eventually Boomie became paranoid that they were surrounded by cannibals and Kaya refused to believe that she had any family prompting the two to remove the cloth that fastened three of them together and subsequently flee from tensen in opposite directions following this tenzen wandered aimlessly and recited he was the son of Ang over and over again in an attempt to remain calm but found himself confronting his uncertainty of being able to live up to his father's name shortly after a vision of H appeared
who urged tenzen to stop emulating somebody else's life in favor of shaping his own Ton's moment of realization caused the fog to dissipate temporarily allowing him enough time to gather janur Kaya and Buie and leave the fog of lost souls and its other prisoners behind before the spirit appeared again this leads us to believe that Clarity of mind and knowing who you really are is the key to survive or escape this Spirit moving on to Wong Wong is an ancient wise and Powerful Spirit who collects information for the spirit Library he is the most knowledgeable
being among humans and Spirits never missing an opportunity to learn new facts or boast about his vast intelligence though he has developed an indifference for studying human technology since leaving the physical world although his regular shape is that of a huge black and white barn owl when angered he can assume much more frightening stronger forms L Tong had a deep love for knowledge wanting to learn everything solely for knowledge's sake he was also a grandio and arrogant being considering himself great and nearly all knowing Wong initially wanted to share all of what he had collected
with Humanity believing that others could use his vast book collection to improve themselves and the world Over time however he became increasingly bitter as believed his generosity was abused by many visitors who sought only Power and selfish Gaines he eventually became willing to outright murder any visitor who he believed to be corrupt and started to regard almost all of humidity as power-hungry Liars after Kora reopened the spirit portals however Wong reflected on his views and once again became more willing to allow human visitors in his realm for eons Wong kept his Spirit Library considered a
true wonder of the world since the time of its creation the library was originally located in the spirit world where he collected knowledge his servants the knowledge seek ERS were capable and cunning and regularly passed from the spirit world to the physical world in order to collect books and toms written by Mortals and bring them to the library as the world grew more and more connected those with darker interests came to seek the library and Wong's feelings about the library and its visitors began to change the sojourners who came to the library during the life
of Avatar Roku soured the great spirit on Humanity as many of them were not interested in knowledge for the sake of knowledge but instead sought a way for their Nation to gain an advantage over the others Wong blamed the SII Wang tribes people for the actions of those they delivered to the library and ban them from any future access to the vast repository of learning Wong gave every visitor to the library a colder reception during this time when he met team Avatar and Professor Zay he treated them with hostility upon their arrival at his Library
following his explanation for Banning humans from the library the knowledge Spirit agreed to admit team Avatar and the professor upon Avatar Ang's promise to not use the knowledge for violence in return one sheong required each person to provide an addition to his collection Wadley was pleased with Z's and guitara donations a first edition to and an authentic water bending scroll respectively he was less impressed with though nonetheless accepted the offerings of Ang and Saka which were a wanted poster of himself and a not although he initially let his visitors wander around freely Wong later confronted
team Avatar when Saka accidentally revealed his intent to use his discovery of the day of black sun to launch an invasion of the Fire Nation during the next solar eclipse tired of witnessing his knowledge being misused to hurt others the enraged Spirit began to sink the library back into the spirit world and attacked the forsome as they had already acquired too much information according to him up next The Painted Lady for anyone ready to say that the spirit is just qara well yes and no hear me out the village is located in the middle of
the river which has been polluted by a nearby military Factory they are fed to the Village by doc a rather eccentric man the village is in deep depression with many villagers having fallen ill and a lack of food due to the polluted water qara wishes to help these people but Saka argues that the importance of their overall mission overrides all other situations that may arise qara decides to help by pretending to be an ancient Spirit the painted lady with the Fire Nation soldiers appear Katara gives them a pretty good scare so but no one returns
to take advantage of the village again however the night before leaving Kara makes her way to the river to freshen up where a thick mist and the real Painted Lady appears the spirit smiles and thanks her before disappearing in the fog again leaving a slightly baffled though pleased qara we spoke about quite a few really powerful spirits and Avatar however we've yet to speak about the two most important ones and probably even the strongest ones rava and vatu so let's begin from rava you see rava is the spirit of light and peace and after fusing
with one the Avatar Spirit she is one of the oldest known Spirits having existed over 10,000 lifetimes before the appearance of the first humans she and vatu the spirit of darkness and Chaos spend much of their existence combating each other at least since the harmonic convergence would neither able to fully Vanquish the other even if rava were to destroy vatu and Usher in a new era of Peace what little Darkness existed in rava would magnify until vatu would be reborn and burst forth beginning the cycle again the reverse would happen to vatu if he were
victorious over rava after her grasp on vatu was severed by one rava was forced to team up with him to defeat the dark spirit a year later during the new harmonic convergence rava permanently merged her Essence with WS creating the Avatar however during the next convergence raava was extracted from Kora and destroyed with her connection to WAN and all the other avatars after him lost forever she was however reborn shortly after and was able to merge again with Kora restoring the Avatar spirit and restarting the Avatar cycle naturally we now have to speak about vatu
next vatu is the spirit of darkness and Chaos who briefly became the dark Avatar Spirit during the harmonic convergence of kora's generation he is one of the old known Spirits having existed over 10,000 lifetimes before the appearance of the first humans he claimed to be the first Spirit to cross over into the mortal world breaking down the barrier that separated it from the plane of spirits and creating the northern and southern Spirit portals in the process enabling other spirits to do the same his Essence swayed the spirits to the dark side transforming them into dark
spirits vatu and Raba the spirit of peace and light spent much of the resistance combating each other at least since the first harmonic convergence with neither able to fully Vanquish the other during the harmonic convergence of Wands generation vatu was defeated by a merger of Wan with rava and subsequently locked inside the tree of time for 10,000 years during the next harmonic convergence vatu permanently merged his Essence with unols becoming the dark Avatar Spirit their form however was purified by Avatar Kora during their battle as a result vatu receded into rava and the Avatar where
he will continue to grow stronger and eventually Break Free okay so now let's move on to a spirit that appears in the Avatar Comics General Old Iron General Old Iron is a giant humanoid Spirit who protected lady tanhai during the era of Raa after his friend passed away centuries later he went on a rampage against the people that caused Tian High's death though he later relented after striking a deal with Avatar y Chen a few decades later General Old Iron Rose again and threatened to destroy crane fish town when the land had been defiled by
humans and his old armor had been stolen seeking the deal he had made with Yang Chen being broken began to attack threatening to wipe humans from existence he was quickly challenged by Yang who had constructed an earth and shield to match General Old iron's form and activated the Avatar state to enhance his power the general matched with the Avatar blow for blow but his iron armor was soon metal bent off of him by Toof and her students he demanded to know how the Earth Benders were tearing his shielding apart and set to attack them but
Ang ripped a hole in his chest with a blast of all four elements tears appearing in his eyes General Old Iron realized there was no place for his kind in the world and saw that he was significantly weaker than the humans unconvinced by Ang's pleas that he could maintain balance between the physical and spirit Worlds the spirit told him that he was only fooling himself and the Avatar would always sign with the humans in a rift between them and the spirits he added that humans even a had a will to dominate and the worlds could
never be balanced acknowledging his defeat General Old Iron transformed into serpent Lobster spirits and retreated Under the Sea for good holding on to yet another Spirit appearing in the Avatar Comics the kamur KAG Spirits these Spirits haunted Warlords of the Fire Island centuries prior to the formation of the Fire Nation they became part of Fire Nation Legend after they departed from the Mortal realm feed by children from the fire nation capital as they supposedly abduct young individuals who misbehave the kamur KAG became part of Fire Nation Legend and were immortalized in a mural depicting the
history of the Fire Nation located within the dragon bone catacombs the story of their origin was written on a scroll outside of the crypt of the first fire lord with whom they remained closely associated although the scroll suggested that the KAG continued to haunt the Fire Nation due to their insatiable sadness they returned to the spirit world after the unification of the islands the kamur KAG leave characteristic clouds of smoke as they move and can morph into wisps as a means of inconspicuous travel it can appear UND dissipated will like many other Spirits they are
also capable of conjuring images as one of the sisters was able to project an image of the first fire lord while conversing with Avatar rang moving on to the cor Comics next and The Rock Spirit next The Rock spirit is an enormous Spirit living in the spirit world whose body and limbs are made out of solid rock when resting the spirit resembles a large Boulder though they do not appreciate to be climbed on you see the rock Spirit was awoken from their Slumber when Kora and assami having mistaken the spirit for a rock formation had
started to climb their back irritated the spirit rose to their feet demanding to know who dared to climb upon their body when Cora tried to apologize they interrupted her by remarking that they should have known the culprits to be pesky humans as they plot the two off their back Cora took offense to being called pesky and revealed herself to be the Avatar which further angered the spirit who belied the Avatar was even worse than a regular human they told her that while they had not complained when she had decided to leave the northern and southern
Spirit portals open the creation of a third portal was unacceptable as the two Realms should have remained separate the spirit ignored korus remarks that the formation of the third portal was an accident and flung the two away ordering them to leave their realm forever later the rock Spirits along with several other Spirits answered the call of the dragon eel Spirit to protect protect the Republic City Spirit portal from the human threat and crossed into the mortal world to do so they tried to crush several Triple Threat Triad members who were battling team Avatar and several
Airbenders for control of the land surrounding the portal and managed to swat away several of them the rock Spirit eventually returned to the spirit world on command of the Dragon Spirit after the latter had ended the battle by disfiguring tokuga and the final Spirit of today's video father gloworm father gloworm is a malevolent spirit with a thirst for blood it appears as a great glowing eyeball the size of a wagon wheel with a sickly luminescent green tinch and attached to a web of pulsating veins immensely powerful it was able to create tunnels that allowed it
to access the physical world father gloworm is an ancient Spirit far older than other beings such as Co who was already immeasurably old possessing the power to create Rifts between the spirit and physical worlds it proceeded to cross over to the ladder to pray on humans so it could Feast on their blood to avoid drying attention father gloworm only emerged in remote locations for limited periods of time as a consequence of its actions dark Spirits provoked by the pro-human actions of Avatar Yang ch used its Rifts to cross over something which did not bother it
at some point these incursions caught the attention of Avatar kurak who began to combat the dark Spirits at the cost of his own deep spiritual corruption eventually kurak managed to find a spirit who pointed him in the direction of Father glower upon being confronted the Avatar made the mistake of trading names with it sealing a curse upon anyone who knew of the spirit's existence in their ensuing battle though father gloworm proved stronger K was too stubborn to give up and eventually the former was forced to retreat severely weakened and unable to threaten the physical world
for a generation or two at some point father gloworm had met Janu who had later referred to as the architect they met again that year when the earthbending master asked father gloworm whether Kyoshi or Yun was the Avatar being able to sense the Avatar Spirit due to its past confrontation with kurup the spirit knew that one of the children had to be the Avatar still father gloworm was amus that the physical world was in a poor enough state for janju to even have to ask and told him it would need blood in return for its
he when janju agreed father gloworm pointed to Koshi with a tendril identifying her as the true Avatar and coiled another tendril around Yun father gloworm became Furious when Janu subsequently attacked it with a wall of Earth which enabled him and Kyoshi to escape from the cave leaving Yun to the spirit's Mercy father gloworm and the young Earth Bender consequently ended up in the spirit world where hun attempted to appease the spirit and convince it to become his teacher in hopes of finding a way back to the mortal world although there would be no Escape for
Yun father gloworm promised that part of him would achieve immortality by being subsumed into the spirit father gloworm subsequently attacked Yun to Fed on his blood however the young Earth Bender proved stronger than the spirit had anticipated they bitterly fought for a long time with the spirit having to spend much energy as a result of their battle father glow worm's core form ultimately diminished to a much smaller size deciding to call the truce father gloworm offered to share its power to allow Yun to create passages between the worlds in exchange for him bringing humans to
use as sacrifices when Yun accepted father gloworm urged the boy to come closer only to be caught in an earn Vice futilely struggling father gloworm protested that even kurak was not as dishonorable but was helpless as Yun devoured its eye gaining its powers as a result and seemingly ending its independent existence Yun himself was unsure what had happened to the spirit after their merger as Spirits cannot truly die it remains unclear what happened to Father gloworms Essence after yun's physical body died a few years later I mean what if the spirit returns once more that's
quite the what if right well not as interesting as this one though where we explained what would have happened if Ang stayed frozen in the iceberg for another whole year and believe me the whole world changes go on check it out
