blood glucose homeostasis refers to the concept that the body tends to maintain blood sugar within a stable range this is accomplished through a negative feedback loop that involves the release of two hormones if your blood glucose increases beyond the normal range say after you eat a meal this will trigger your pancreas to release the hormone insulin insulin will trigger your body cells and especially your liver to take up the glucose from the blood convert it into glycogen so it can be stored to use later if your blood glucose decreases this will also trigger the pancreas
to release a different hormone called glucagon glucagon will stimulate your liver to break down that stored glycogen and release the glucose into the blood bringing the levels back up to normal
