uh let's talk about uh the economy again this morning two days on the bounce more good news for the government uh it is good news but qualified good news uh GDP measure of uh growth not the UK economy has returned to growth after a couple of months of negative growth the economy grew by 0.1% uh percentage point in November um effectively flatlining look at the broader Trend the UK economy is the same size uh in November was the same size as it was in July what happened in July there was a general election so this
is firmly under Labor's watch and what after two quarters the first half of the Year there was some economic growth or bit modest 7.5% it's now flatlining now the reason of this uplift Services uh did quite well actually the Health Service being busy um contributes to GDP might not think of that as contributing growth but it it all counts um the expectation of among Economist was 0.2% so yesterday we were talking about inflation better than expected today we've got GDP lower than expected these are tiny numbers uh and the economy is bumping on a point
or two bumping on either side of zero um which is not good and the challenge for the chanc Jacker is all of this is on her watch I've just been to see the chancellor on behalf of all the broadcasters for a short interview and this is her reaction the truth is the British economy has barely grown for the last 14 years and that's why we had a cost of living CR crisis and why British people are worse off uh this new government has come in with a determination a number one mission to grow the economy
that takes time but it's why this week the Prime Minister announced the AI action plan to take advantage of the huge opportunities of new technology it's why yesterday we announced investment in housing and infrastructure foreign direct investment in Bristol it's why today the business secretary is announcing inward investment in the car manufacturing sector in Sunderland and it's why I announced a deal this week to help British business export more to China the second biggest economy in the world we need to do more to grow our economy to make British people better off
