[Music] We examined a number of hadiths before such as the Hadith of AD the Hadith of the manah the next Hadith which is by far one of the most important pieces of evidence that point to the IM of IM is Hadith Al in the last year of the prophet's life year 10 after the Hijra he announced that he is going to the Hajj to the pilgrimage the prophet made an invitation to all Muslims in the Arabian Peninsula to come and join him he mobilized Muslims to make it to the Hajj that year many many people
came to the city of Medina to join the prophet sallallahu Al in going south to Mecca this is called or the final pilgrimage because that's the last Hajj that the prophet sallallahu alaihi Al made before he passed away conservative figures stat that 990,000 people came to Medina to go to the Haj 90 ,000 and that's an a conservative estimate the number of those who did the Haj is more than that because you had people in Mecca in southern areas they made the Hajj when the prophet sallallahu alaih arrived in Mecca so at least 120,000 people
that year performed the pilgrimage with the holy prophet the prophet sallallahu alaih Al is in Mecca he's complaining the Hajj then when he is in the land of he receives Revelation from God to appoint IMI as Theif to inform his companions that he is the authority after him he receives this Revelation from God now when jbra informed him of that he did not specify to the prophet when you have to make that declaration JB simply tells the prophet you need to make this declaration this is the command of God but he didn't tell him when
now tomorrow the point is announce IM Al as Theif as the successor the prophet s Al in tries in fact he gives a very important speech Ina during the Haj and he makes a reference to the 12 imams the 12 kiffs after him this is documented in Sunni works as well but what happened is that the people who were present there at the Hajj they did not allow the prophet to finish his speech they cut him off they created this huge commotion and this is in Sunni sources not only in Shia sources they created a
commotion such that many people attending the speech they could no longer hear what the prophet was stating we have examples of that in which one of the companions he says I was there I asked my father what is he saying there's so much commotion we cannot hear and so the prophet the the his father who was able to hear the prophet sallallah he said the prophet said after me there there will be 12 cffs 12 imams all of them from qur so the prophet did try to officially declare Ali Alam as his K in but
because of the resistance that he saw he stopped and he postponed it the prophet realized let's wait for another opportunity because right now there is a lot of resistance why was there so much resistance in Mecca remember Mecca is the stronghold of qur now the qur that very society that waged so many wars against the prophet and only when the prophet became strong they apparently accepted Islam but Islam did not really penetrate their hearts qur had this enmity to IM Ali why he exactly because all those Wars they waged against the prophet the biggest defender
of the Prophet the biggest supporter was IM aliam in fact he's the one who foiled their plot to kill the prophet so the people of qur they could not stand IM Ali so when the prophet gave that speech in they cut him off they knew that he was going to now announce IM Ali they did this huge commotion so the others wouldn't hear and they cut off the speech of the Prophet now the prophet did not insist because Islam was still a new religion the prophet wanted at that point the um to be United because
there were many enemies outside dangers so the prophet realized if I here declare Ali as Thea very clearly and I mention him by name there's going to be such a huge chaos we don't know what's going to happen and the prophet is a responsible leader he doesn't want the umah just to spiral into chaos so the prophet postponed it he said let me get to Medina and then over there I will take the necessary steps to declare Ali as Theif so the prophet leaves Mecca they finished their Hajj where does he go to he goes
north he goes to JEA and then from JEA North he reaches an area which was the intersection for the different paths that would go north so those who would go to Egypt they pass by this area those who go to Medina and those who go to Iraq this place was very close to an oasis called means Oasis is that area which was close to this intersection of paths the prophet reaches there when he reaches there JB comes again this time when he tells him about the it is an immediate command that must immediately conveyed to
the people he comes down with the verse Oh messenger you have to convey what you have received from your Lord this is verse 67 ofum this is verse 67 of oh messenger you have to convey what God is commanding you if you don't do it now if you don't do it now it's as if you have not conveyed the message of God then Allah makes a very important statement because the prophet was concerned about the people what are they going to do how will they react to this will they be fighting is there going to
be what's going to happen he was concerned Allah tells him what don't worry Allah will protect you from the people no one will kill you Allah has things under control make this announcement Allah subhana tal is going to support you so the prophet goes next to the Oasis as he is there the prophet issues a command all those Travelers there about 90,000 remember who came from Medina they're going back 90,000 especially back then that's a huge figure so the prophet issued a command all those Travelers who went ahead of us North call them he sent
someone to call them come back come to this place called and all those Travelers who are behind us they're catching up let's wait for them so the prophet Prophet waits for them about 90 to 100,000 of his companions gather at by far one of the biggest gatherings in Muslim history in the presence of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi then after that the prophet sallallahu alai gives a historic speech this was on a Thursday the 18th of that's exactly N9 days after after people finish the Hajj and they're going back this happens year 10 of the Hijra
on a Thursday 18th of so the prophet he waited for his companions once they gathered he gave them a historic speech historians document that it was an extremely hot day such that the companions were struggling Under The Heat Of The Sun they were covering their heads they were trying to protect themselves from the heat the prophet gave a onour long speech it seems as far as as we you know as we can see in recorded history it seems that was the longest speech he ever gave in his life 1 hour long in though in the
standards of those times was pretty much unheard of no one would give a speech that would take an hour long in Arabian society that was unheard of so it was probably the longest speech of the Prophet Sall alai and IM narrates to us that very long version because there are many versions of this sermon narrates the long version that's about an hour so the prophet sallallahu alaih Al is now giving a speech imagine in the desert under the hot son there are about 90 to 100,000 companions Muslims the prophet starts by praising Allah subh all
praise is due to Allah we seek his Aid we believe in him we rely on him we seek refuge in God from the evil that exists in our souls in our spirits and from the evil deeds and then you know he says later then he gets to the important announcement that he has to make these are the very words of the Prophet sallallahu alai he says oh people I am about to depart I've been called by God and I have accepted the call of Allah tala meaning these are the last days of my life and
imagine when it's the last days of your lifeam allum you're going to make a very important announcement Allah will hold me accountable and ask me about what I did and he'll hold you you accountable oh Muslims about what you did what are you going to say when Allah will ask you about me they said we bear witness that you have conveyed the message of God in sincerity and you struggled may Allah subhana wa tala reward you oh messenger of God we bear witness that you have no shortcomings the then the prophet sallallah alai told them
do you not bear witness that there is one God only and that Muhammad is the messenger of God do you not bear witness that heaven is a reality hell is a reality death is a reality the hour the day of judgment is a reality keep in mind the important points the prophet sallallahu is mentioning to his companions and he's making them bear witness to the truthfulness of these points this is setting the stage for something very important that the prophet sallallahu alaih is going to say because he's mentioning something very important they said yes we
bear witness to everything you're saying then he said oh Allah you bear witness that they have witnessed to the truth of what I've said oh people can you hear me well do you not hear me they told him yes then he told them on the day of judgment I'll be standing at the at the pool of K so you have to see how will you treat the the two weighty things because at the pool of you're going to be asked about it the prophet Sall is saying this they told him what are the two heavy
things he told them there is the heavier one and the second one there are two heavy heavy things the heavier of the two is the book of Allah subhah wa ta'ala you have to hold on to the Quran and the second one is the my family you have to hold on to them these two the book of God and the bit shall never separate until they meet me at the at the pool of K on the day of judgment so he's explaining the significance of the Quran and the and he tells them if you hold
on to them you'll achieve guidance if you don't you'll perish you you'll deviate and you'll fall into misguidance after he says this then he calls on IM Ali and he takes his hand his arm and he raises his hand the prophet raises his hand and the Hand of IM aliam is now raised then the prophet sallallah alai states he asks them a very significant question oh people who is the one who has a greater claim a greater right greater Authority on the Believers than they do over their own selves who's the guardian of the Believers
who has authority over them they told him tell us you teach us you know better tell us who so the prophet Sall states God is my authority my master and I am the authority over the Believers and I have a greater right the prophet is saying this over the Believers than they do have the right over themselves and he's paraphrasing a verse in the Holy Quran the prophet has a greater claim over the Believers than they do over their own selves do you accept this and Allah is witnessing when he said that then he states
that historic statement whomever I am his ma then this is Ali his M and then the prophet makes that prayer oh Allah support the one who supports Al Talib and follows him and take as an enemy the one who shows enmity to Al and the prophet makes a very beautiful prayer in honor of in the end he says oh Allah have the the truth revolve around wherever he goes the truth will go then the prophet says whoever is present here from you my companion let them inform those who are absent this is the command that
the prophet sallallahu Al Al made and this is the announcement that he made at remember the speech is very very long it has many parts to it it's a beautiful speech this is a very short summary of the speech as soon as he says that jbra comes down with verse three of today I have completed your religion and perfected your religion and I have completed my favor over you and I've accepted Islam as the religion for you after that the companion stood in line to congratulate IM Ali historical documents and Sunni sources also mention that
Abu Bakr and Omar also came to and they told him congratulations Al today you have become our MAA the one who has authority over us and the mola of every believing man and every believing woman this my dear brothers and sisters is the incident of GAD [Music] oh
