welcome to grace digital presentation in this video we will cover purposes of the baptism of the Holy Spirit the baptism in the Holy Spirit is intended by God to accomplish several things in the life of the believer but how much it will accomplish depends on the believer number one gateway to the supernatural Hebrews six four and five says for it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the holy spirit who have tasted the goodness of the word of God
in the power of the age to come those who shared in the Holy Spirit who have tasted the goodness of the Word of God and the power of the age to come this is an amazing representation they live in this age but have been exposed to a power that belongs to the next stage the baptism in the Holy Spirit is meant to be our access to the supernatural it isn't an achievement it is a gateway it is intended by God that after the baptism in spirits believers should walk in the supernatural in fact the supernatural
should become the new natural let us look at the book of Acts to get an understanding of the Christian Church we cannot refer to the New Testament Christianity without including the supernatural Acts 1911 says God did extraordinary miracles through Paul there is it particularly that stands out word extraordinary in the original Greek translation it means the type of miracle that do not happen every day in other words miracles were an everyday occurrence in the early church but these miracles were extraordinary we can theorize all we want about the New Testament church but we cannot experience
it without the supernatural number two for witnessing but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witness in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth acts 1:8 the baptism in the Holy Spirit is designed to give us supernatural power from on high so we can be witnesses note that witnesses are on to Jesus Christ they are not onto a doctrine and not primarily onto an experience but on to Jesus himself the true purpose is to witness Jesus Christ number three for
prayer this experience also produces a change in a Christians prayer life let's look at Romans 8 26 and 27 in the same way the spirit helps us in our weakness we do not know what we ought to pray for but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans and he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God it should be known that we all have an infirmity it is not a sickness but it is a natural weakness of the
flesh we do not know how to pray as we're meant to pray not one person exists who does people often pour over the words as they tell the almighty God what he's meant to do that is not really prayer God doesn't need to be told what to do searching with your intellect to find the right thing to tell God to do next is not the New Testament prayer rather in the New Testament prayer believers become a temple in which the Holy Spirit comes in and conducts a prayer meeting we simply become an instrument read what
the scripture says about the Bride of Christ I slept but my heart was awake song of Sullivan 5:2 this is a spiritual reality concerning the fire on the altar of the Tabernacle in the Old Testament it also says the fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously it must not go out leviticus 613 this is a picture of the holy spirit on the altar of a believers heart a fire burning night and day let's look at two other scriptures starting with Ephesians 6:18 and pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of
prayers and requests note that it says pray in the spirit on all occasions you cannot always pray in your understanding but when the Holy Spirit is there he helps you the same thought is found in 1st five verses 17 and 19 where it says pray without ceasing and do not quench the spirit these two are related you can quench the spirit you can put the fire out but it's not God's will the baptism in the Holy Spirit starts a fire remember what Paul said to Timothy fan into flame the gift of God don't neglect the
gift which was given to you first Timothy 4:14 2nd Timothy 1:6 with that same word I challenge anybody who does not have this supernatural experience because without it it is impossible for one to live up to the New Testament standard of prayer number 4 for teaching but when he the spirit of truth comes he will guide you into all the truth he will not speak on his own he will speak only what he hears and he will tell you what is yet to come John 16:13 but the Advocate the Holy Spirit whom the father will
send in my name will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you John 14:26 the Holy Spirit is the great teacher of the Scriptures Jesus Christ promised that when the spirit of truth comes he would lead us into all truth teach us and bring us in remembrance of all Jesus has said the Holy Spirit is also the great revealer of Jesus Christ Jesus said he will glorify me John 16 14 these two functions go together because Jesus is the Living Word and the Bible is the written word the
Holy Spirit is the author of the written word and he is the one who comes in to be the interpreter of the word the Holy Spirit the teacher but we also need human teachers too the Holy Spirit can teach you through another believer however the Holy Spirit shows you where Jesus is clearer than any thing else do you know where Christ is he is seated at the right hand of Almighty God and all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me Matthew 28:18 when the Holy Spirit fell on the day of Pentecost
it was like a personal letter from the Lord for those disciples sheltered away in that upper room saying I have arrived I'm here you saw me go now you know where I am shortly after that Peter stood up and told the unbelieving Jews exalted to the right hand of God he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear Acts 233 Peter knew where Jesus was in a new way who made that so clear to him the Holy Spirit did number five for guidance another aspect
of the spirits ministry is that of guidance and warning but when he the spirit of truth comes he will guide you into all the truth he will not speak on his own he will speak only what he hears and he will tell you what is yet to come John 16:13 we need that we need supernatural direction and warning to survive in the world we live in today if we just live in the natural we will go wrong many times let's be reminded of what Jesus said in Luke 17:26 just as it was in the days
of Noah so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man we think about the sin and iniquity that abounded in the days of Noah and we say it is like that today but remember there was something else in Noah's day by faith Noah when warned about things not yet seen and holy fear built an ark to save his family by his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith Hebrews 11:7 Noah had a supernatural revelation of what was coming on earth he knew
the steps to take he knew the way to safety in the same way you and I who are living in this age need to have contact with heaven in a very real and personal way jesus said the Spirit of Truth will not speak on his own authority but whatever he hears he will speak John 16:13 we are assured into the council's of heaven when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit and listened to the still small voice of the Spirit his guidance will enable us to take the right action let us pray help me to
walk in you the Spirit of God grow good fruit in my life you are the one who produces these in me love joy peace patience kindness goodness faithfulness gentleness and self-control I cannot live out these things on my own I need you I ask you for your direction and encouragement today you know my pain and anxieties very well help me to rest in your comfort today encourage me to see you more clearly to understand your movement in my life make me more receptive to you so I can follow you more closely still I know that
