Delorean. >> Delorean. Mercedes. What do we got? It is Camaro. >> You guys are seriously going to think I'm the luckiest guy in the world, but this is just >> looking that way. >> I know. I know. Trans Am. And then at the end of the day, this comfy Did you just see that? You broke that 90-year-old lady's neck. >> Was she looking? >> She was staring, brother. >> I mean, it is a Buick. >> It is a Buick. >> It is. >> What is up, 1320 fans? Welcome back to the channel and welcome to
another episode of 1320 Garages. In this episode, we find ourselves in Chicago, Illinois, checking out the collection and garages of a guy you might know. Today, we are with Alex from Legit Street Cars. Let's go check it out. >> What's up? Hey, >> come on in. >> What's up, Alex? >> What's up? How we doing? >> Doing good. Just working on the GN. >> Hell yeah. >> So, welcome. Welcome. I'm Alex. This is Legit Street Cars or Legit Street Quarters One, as I like to call it. But I know you guys wanted to drive something.
So, I got something for you. >> Hell yeah. >> You want to see something really weird though, really quick? >> Yes. >> The power steering reservoir is reverse thread on a Buick Grand National. Righty is loosey, lefty is tighty. >> How long did it take you to figure that one out? >> Uh, I was starting to strip it, so really soon. But I just fixed the power steering leak, so this one is good to Go. >> Hell yeah. >> Well, thank you for letting us come and annoy you for the day. No problem. We're going
to check out all your cars, all your garages where there's a few of them there. >> Yes, there are three. >> But this is where everything started in this garage. Yep. Tell us a little bit about it. Where are we at right now? >> This started, this we're in Chicago, Northwest side. This started about 9 years ago. Uh we bought a 100-year-old house that was falling down. The garage was literally falling down and the city was going to find us. So, I was forced to build a garage with a lift in it. >> Forced? >>
I was forced against your will. >> So, this is as big as you can go in the city of Chicago. 600 ft. put the lift in here. I did side work, you know, for many, many years to eventually pay for Fixing the house. Gotcha. >> And I decided to start a YouTube channel. I was on a midnight shift and just kind of bored out of my mind. Uh, and I started wrenching mostly on my Trans Am here on camera. >> What year was that? >> Uh, that was 2017, something like that. Yeah. >> Okay. And
the TA is kind of what got you doing videos and everything. And now you're to this type of stuff. >> Yeah. I'm all over the place. I like literally everything, but my 2001 turbo Trans Am I've had since I was 18. Oh, wow. Um, it's my baby. I'm never getting rid of it. Ironically, it's not around right now. We're We're rushing to get it done for Holly LSFest, so it's at a different shop. But that's what started the channel. And I was a Mercedes-Benz master technician for 10 years. So, I started bringing in the Mercedes
and the AMG and showing people how to fix their Car for like 90% less than the dealer. And that's really kind of what kicked off the channel. But the first five years was all here filmed, edited by myself, you know, everything. >> Now, what are we now? As far as you said, this is the largest you can go legally in Chicago. >> 600 ft. If you build a frame garage is the largest you can go. Uh, if you build brick, it's 800 ft², but it's like triple the cost at least. >> Fancy fancy pants over
there. >> And it's like I couldn't afford that. But, uh, yeah. >> Cars in here. >> Yes, >> we got a just the two right here, but vastly different. What are we looking at here? >> Yeah, so this is a 2020 AMG GTR that I recently bought uh out of Atlanta. It was at a Mannheim uh car dealer auction and it was abandoned there for about 3 And 1/2 years. So, it's a 2020. We're in 2025. So, it was almost new. It had 9,000 mi. It was about 18 months old. >> It was abandoned. >>
It was It sat at this auction in a gravel lot amongst wrecked cars and destroyed cars for 3 and 1/2 years. I was at the airport flying out to Boston to fix another car. And I'm just my flight got delayed. Thank you, Spirit. And I'm sitting there looking at the auction, of course, like I always do. And I see this 1.6 out of five was the grade as is all the warnings. Don't buy blah blah blah. And I'm like, that's what I buy. >> So, that's kind of your thing. >> It's my thing. So, I
uh they said it had a bad engine. And I'm like, all right, I'll rebuild the engine. And this is still an AMG GTR with a clean title. I did some digging. And I zoomed into a picture on the auction site and it there was a corner of a license plate that I Thought said experience and out in California they use a racetrack and they call it the AMG driving experience. >> And they have cars like this. >> Anyway, I'm like, is this a former race car? >> Look into the Carfax in the title. It's owned
by corporate Mercedes and it's being sold by corporate Mercedes. >> So, no, I I'm bidding against one person. No one wants this thing because it's like a 50 $60,000 blown engine. >> I win it for 75 grand. Clean title, no accidents, which is a lot of money, but these are also worth like 150. >> I was going to say this isn't just a regular GT. This is or this is AMG. What is GT? >> Yeah, they had they had the AMG GT, then the GTS, and then the GTR. So, this is the race version in
solar beam metallic yellow, which there's only like 700 of. So, super rare. It's a $10,000 paint option. So, I'm like, this checks all The right boxes for me. Broken, cool color. So, anyway, long story short, I fix it for free. it. They they misdiagnosed this car. It had It basically had a blown fuse. I literally replaced the fuse after checking, you know, I had to do uh I sprayed oil in the cylinders. Everything was dry. I had to do a lot of that kind of stuff. >> But at the end of the day, I put
a fuse in. It fired right up and it ran and drove beautifully. >> So, it's a mint condition $150,000 AMG GTR that you picked up for 75 grand. >> Yeah. Not quite mint yet, but it runs and drives like brand new. Just I just have to fix the dash, which I have sitting at the shop. It was a $5,000 dash from Mercedes, but they got it to me in two days with the yellow stitching. I >> sometimes I can't get a a power steering line from Mercedes in three weeks. They give me the custom dash
in two days. >> They're probably like, "Oh, this Oh, it's a GTR. Oh, we got we got to put this in the front of the line." Front of the line for this guy. Right. >> Well, that's a So, that's a $70,000 up on that. But you don't you don't tend I've seen your channel. You don't tend to get rid of stuff. >> So, this was just a really good deal on a really cool car. >> It is. And now I love it. How do I get rid of this thing? I already put bigger Turbos and
downpipes. We >> You tune it now. >> We tuned I mean once you do that, you're locked in. So, it did 750 wheel at the Cannonball Dyno. >> Very nice. >> Uh tuned by Ben's house pretty stout out of this. >> Oh my god, it is ridiculous. And it launches like an all-wheel drive car. >> And those AMG the AMG uh twin turbo V8s, they sound ridiculous. >> Yeah. Yeah. It sounds good. It never stops pulling. It's amazing. >> Hell yeah. >> And then we have a Grand National over here. >> Yes. Yes. This car
means a lot to me. I've wanted one since I was five, which I do kind of say a lot on my channel because there's a lot of cars that I've wanted since I was a little kid. That's the point, right? >> So, a guy down the street from me Actually grew up in this house. So, right over there, he had one brand new and I would walk by it like in the 80s and '9s, and I just fell in love as a little kid. And uh anyway, this one was uh left in a storage unit
in Wisconsin for the better part of 10 years, and it looked horrible. It was not like this. It had a rod knock, the wrong wheels, the paint was all messed up. And uh yeah, fixed the engine, paint, did a bunch of restoration stuff over the Course of probably I don't know, six or seven videos. And this is this has definitely been I probably use this the most when I go cruising, car shows, cruise nights. This is just like I I love this car. It's so comfortable. It's fast. I modified it, of course. It's got air
conditioning and it's just it's a Buick. It's great. >> Hell yeah. Now, these two cars are in here. Do we have more outside? >> Yeah, we got some trucks outside. some Really heavy trucks outside. Together, these trucks have like 1,700 horsepower. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> And they're the the most used. They're the daily drivers. So, I'll admit this one is cheating. Okay. This is a 1000 horsepower 3X Hummer. A brand new Hummer. My wife uh this wasn't really kind of supposed to be hers, but then she drove it and she's like, "Yeah, I kind
of like this. It's like having a New car." So, I'm like, "That's fine." You know, you drive it. Um, this is kind of a long story, but basically this truck was free. So, I wasn't planning on getting a $120,000 Hummer, but the electricity company in the Chicagoland area offered business owners $30,000 cash taxfree to buy a 10,000 gross vehicle weight truck >> or lease. Gotcha. >> The lease or lease. So, the lease upfront payment is 45 minus 30 >> for all three years. >> For all three years covered if you pay for it at one
lump sum, it's it's uh 45. >> Gotcha. >> So, I paid that, got my 30 grand a month later. So, I'm 15 in, right? A lot of that I write all of that off because it's a business vehicle. It's owned by the business, right? >> And minus gas and t and you know, and maintenance for three years. It's almost a free Hummer. >> That's pretty ridiculous. >> Yeah. So, I I had to do it and so is everybody else in Chicago. All the business owners, all the restaurants, Arniac Cannonball has two. >> We were all
going nuts. We're calling each other. He's like, I know, you know. Yeah. Let's do it. >> So, we all have EV trucks now. Gotcha. >> We're forced. All right. >> Yeah. against your will to have a 1000 horsepower EV truck. Not Not a bad deal. >> This is cool. It's got 1,000 horse. It's got watts to freedom mode. I don't know if you guys have ever been in this. >> No, that sounds like something GM would do to make it sound cool. >> 3.5 to 60. >> It's not bad considering it weighs >> a 10,000lb
vehicle. When it launches, it's like defies physics. It shouldn't happen. You're just like with no noise. Yeah. But this makes some okay noises. This is um my wife's but now kind of mine uh supercharged Cadillac Escalade. I'll show you under the hood. >> Now, is this a 6.2? >> Yeah, this is a 62. It's a 2015. It's got the 8-speed. It's kind of got a lot of those factory defects that people talk about, but mine's been fine. Um and we added the Magnus supercharger. >> Oh, hell yeah. >> And then most recently, I did an
auxiliary fuel system. So, it's got a Gigantic auxiliary pump I had to drill into the tank. We did a modified LT4 um high-pressure pump, larger uh LT4 injectors and ethanol. It's E85. It did 600 wheel um and 600 footlbs of torque. >> 600 wheel. And this is the long version. >> And this is the ESV. Yeah. >> I like it. >> Yeah. So, we before the fuel mods with just the blower, me and my wife and all the baby seats and everything, she we she ran a 132, which is pretty good. You Know, it's like
6200 lb. This big. It's not bad. >> So, now we're plus 100 horse. So, it should go deep into the 12elves. And the goal was to make this faster than the new Escalade V. >> Okay. >> And I'm pretty sure it is. >> It's so It's so crazy how well the Magnes fits there. >> It's It's like perfect. It's been on here for 35,000 mi >> and no issues. >> No issues never. >> Very nice. >> It's a real legit street car. It's a daily nice daily, you know. But now this is kind of mine.
She drives the Hummer. I pretty much drive this and I tow everything for the most part with this as well. >> Gotcha. So, Gotcha. Is that it for the cars that are here at the house? >> Yeah. Out of those four, since we have Three locations, we're going to do favorite car per location. What's your favorite car here? >> Grand National. >> Grand National. >> Yeah, don't get me wrong. I love the AMG GTR, but the Grand National means a lot more to me. It's a car I've wanted my whole life and uh yeah, it's
the Grand National. I can >> absolutely appreciate that. >> Well, let's uh get it up and let's take It out. All right, cool. So, how long have you had this car? >> I think 3 years now. Okay. I think I bought it in the summer of 202. >> How often would you say you take it out? >> Oh, man. When it's nice out, like probably once a week, you know. Okay. >> Yeah. This is like, you know, this one this one's nice if I have uh five total in the family, three kids and a wife.
So, this one's nice. If we want to all go to a car show, we can fit in this. You know, >> the interior is so clean. Did you do any restorations on the interior other than the seats? >> I had the headliners done. Okay. Or the headliner done. The previous person had the seats done and the carpet. >> Um, so that's it. So, really all I did was the um was the headliner and my owner shipped to the interior. You know, I added these and the radio. >> Sure. >> But yeah, the the majority of
the work I did was mechanical. Uh, it had a rod knock. I did all the engine bearings. I did a b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b b of other stuff like injectors. I think it's it was sitting forever with like old fuel. And >> now you didn't just replace it with stock stuff. You did soup it up a little bit. >> Yeah, I
did a bunch of of other work Like larger injectors, mass air flow sensor, exhaust. Jeez, it's been a while. But >> is is a stock size turbo on it still? >> Uh it is a bigger turbo. Look at that. Woo. >> He knows. >> He knows what's up. Scat pack widebody in that green. That's pretty cool. Um, it sounds good. >> Not the fastest car in the world, but so what was cool is it was it had a bigger Turbo from like probably 1995. >> Okay. >> And I left it. It was too period correct
and cool, >> but it was uh it had like stamps on it and I reached out to Precision and they're like, "Oh my gosh, that's one of our really old turbos." Um, so I left that and um, yeah, I mean I replaced pretty much every sensor and a lot of electrical repairs and a lot of >> it's a very reliable >> It's been great. It's been really great. Yeah. Um, >> yeah, that sounds good. >> Um, trying to think what else did I do to this thing? Oh, I did like the all the steering and
suspension is all new. It was just all worn out like you know >> the slop in it and everything. Yeah, like shocks, drag link, tie rods, ball joints, control arms. Like I did Everything. I lowered it. I did the aluminum replica wheels, so they look identical to the factory G, but they're aluminum. >> You could have fooled me on those. They look really good. >> Yeah. Right. They look totally stock. And that and that's what I wanted. I didn't want anything. This had like some also period correct aftermarket wheels, but I'm like, if it's a
GN, it's got to have the GN wheels. >> Sure. you know. So, >> so how much power do you think the car makes now? >> Actually, what what what were the stock specs on these back in the 80s? >> Uh they were like gosh 250 260 horse something like that. I forget. >> Pretty stout for a little V6 back. >> Oh yeah. Yeah. This is an 86 and then 87 had a small bump in horsepower by like 5 10 horsepower. You know the these cars were so special because they were faster Than pretty much everything
that was out at the time. I mean, if you think of 1986, that's when they started the uh the aircooled intercoolled uh version. So, >> they had the hot air GN's in the early to mid 80s. And then 8687 are kind of the more desirable ones that everybody wants. And they had intercoolers and a little bump in power. And at the time, I mean, this was faster than your Camaro Z28, your 50 Mustang, the Corvette. >> I'll tell you, it's probably faster than those C4 Corvettes cuz they were not good back in the day. >>
Exactly. So, this was faster than everything. Uh 86 was actually the rarest year of the intercooled versions. They made about 5,000 86s. >> Okay. >> Everything is the same from the 87 except for like the grill and maybe a couple other things you'd never really notice. >> Uh but then in ' 87 they pumped out like 20,000 Grand Nationals and that was it. >> And I don't know if this has ever been officially verified, but everybody's consensus is is that they were cutting into the profits of all the other competing GN or GM cars. So,
like the Corvette wasn't selling enough, so they stopped the Grand National. >> How you going to have a Corvette if a Buick is beating you? You're not wrong. You know what I mean? Like, or a Camaro Or a Firebird Trans Am. And then at the end of the day, this comfy >> Did you just see that? You broke that 90-year-old lady's mouth. >> Was she looking? >> She was staring, brother. >> I mean, it is a Buick. >> It is a Buick. It saw the Buick, you know, little emblem there, and that's all she needed.
But I mean, the turbo noises on these are just >> Oh, that little flutter flutter. >> There's no blowoff valve. That's good. >> They came with no blowoff valve. So, it's not the fastest car in the world, but >> makes all the right sounds. You get that feel of like you're back in your childhood when you're in this car. >> Totally. Totally. >> Thank you very much for giving me a ride in the Grand National. >> Anytime. My pleasure. Like I said, I've only ridden in a few of these and this Is the cleanest one
I think I've ridden. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Oh, yeah. This thing is pretty sweet, dude. It's It's like It's 140,000 mile Grand National, but it you sit in it, you feel like it's brand new. You feel like you're back in the 80s. This it's like a time capsule, time machine back into the 80s. It's freaking cool as hell. We got to go to the next location and then we'll see what number two is. All right, hop skipping a jump away. We Are over to your new shop. Is that right? >> Well, it kind
of it I've had it for 4 years, but uh but this is my first kind of official shop outside of my house. >> Gotcha. And this is the main shop. So, this is legit 3/4 2 now. >> Gotcha. Well, let's check it out. >> So, yeah. >> Oh, This one goes way further back than I thought. >> Yeah. So, this is 30x 100. It was a Detail shop. Um, and yeah, when I quit my job with the city, I also bought this shop at the same time. Hired my editor, Max, which everybody on the on
my channel knows. And uh, and this is where I've been working for the last four years. >> Very cool. I did notice a lot more tools and stuff because you work out of the shop now. >> Yes. This is I mean my whole channel is me literally wrenching for about an hour In every episode. So yeah, I mean I I do all the mechanical work. So I have a full-blown shop. I mean we could run a an actual shop out of here, you know, no problem. Um >> is that uh a bolt is that all
brand new bolts and stuff? >> Bolt Depot. They're a sponsor of mine. Phenomenal. I I love this. So, I have a like a really bad junk drawer, you know, and Bolt Depot hooked it up and now we have like literally everything. So, These guys >> a few shops. I know there's a couple different companies that do this. >> There are. Yeah. But we've been to a few shops that do this. This is like the one thing I'm just like if I could have a shop with all the Cuz this would save me 15 minutes to
an ASO to an Ace or hardware store and then back and then all that and it would just be right there. >> It's funny. I I would joke with my guys That I wish every time we went into the junk drawer or went to Home Depot or Ace to get bolts, we had a timer and I bet you at the end of the year we spent 100 hours on that stuff. >> Save so much. >> So like this is we have literally everything. Cotter pins as well, spacers. It's awesome. >> Very nice. And then you
said you have a mechanic. >> Yes. So it's myself and I have a Mechanic Liam who's not here right now, but it's Saturday. We don't work ever on Saturdays and Sundays. That's like my strict rule. And what are we loyal to any tool brands or we just kind of get what we got? >> Well, so this was Sonic was a sponsor of mine. Great company. Uh they aren't any longer, but you know how that goes. Sponsorships come in and out. No issues. Love Sonic. Uh Harbor Freight is actually a big sponsor of mine now. So
Yeah. Yeah. So you'll see at the Lake Garage, we're all Harbor Freighted out, but I've had every brand. Like my professional career at Mercedes, I had all Snap-on. Uh I've had Macco. I've had So I've tested everything. I've had I have a bunch of Craftsman. My house is a mix of everything. So, >> I'm looking at your tool bench over here. That's a lot of tools that you still have cases for. I'm impressed with >> they're all in they're all in there. Some of these you have to keep them in cases because they're kind of
like form fit, you know. Um, so you don't want these just kind of laying around in a drawer. So, yeah, we have there's way more upstairs. I mean, I have every every tool you could ever need. We got our hydraulic press, our drill press, we have a welder, and a bunch of stuff over there. What's the one tool in the shop that you would be like if you had to redo the shop with zero tools, zero Anything, the one thing you're like, we need to have this. >> Uh, it'd be nice to have a tire
machine and a balancer. Um, but I don't have any room, man. I'm out of >> Oh, you're saying I'm saying for tools you have now? >> Oh. Oh, like what I've learned that I use the most kind of >> Oh, jeez, man. The lift is definitely one of the most important tools. That's the first thing I put in my home garage, You know. So, yeah, the lift for sure. >> But that is a good that would be a good addition. You're saying if you were to add anything it would be a tire and balance tire
machine and balance. >> Yeah. Yeah. We have to sublet that out. It just takes a while. Load it up. Bring it somewhere. >> Yeah, that is annoying. >> I would love to do tires here, but I have no room. I had to draw the line, man. >> That's fair. >> You know, but I am always looking for a bigger shop. I need, you know, I have enough room to fix anything I want to fix here. It's like these cars that are finished and nice, they kind of don't deserve to just be shuffled in and out
all day when I'm all dirty, right? >> You know. So, >> speaking of the cars, let's get into the cars that are here. You want to start, >> man? I don't know. Where do you want to Start? >> Let's start with a Cadillac. >> All right. The Cadillac. Cool. So, I love Cadillacs. And this is a very special one that took me probably 3 years to find. And it's basically mint outside of this. So, just pretend that's not there. This was a oneowner. The lady was like 97. She bought it new in 2000. >> Okay.
>> And do you guys know, can you see anything on the front of this car that Makes it special? >> What's with the emblem? You got it >> on like I'm looking at like what's with the emblem. >> So this is night vision. >> What? >> So yeah, and this is the 2000 model. So this is the first car ever to have factory night vision and it was designed by Rathon 4GM which Rathon is this Yeah. Raon manufacturer the number two largest defense manufacturer in the world. Teamed up. They weren't that big at this time
with >> this is definitely what sent them over the edge right here. >> Yeah. Right. No one really bought the night vision. And it was kind of a failure. It doesn't really work the best. It projects on the uh the windshield. So it's >> what? >> Yeah. So when you're you we can't see it right now. It's got to be pitch black. But it's kind of like heads-up display, but it's when you're driving at night, it's a white screen and then you see the outline of cars and if a deer or something or a human,
you see, you know, it's heat sensing. It's Rathon. So it's cool. It's really cool. >> So basically, you're seeing what their missiles see right before impact. >> Exactly. Exactly. you know those like videos you see online where they're you know it's night vision and and yeah the Missiles that's that's basically what it sees. >> Um but this is a like a 65,000 mile cream puff. You could eat underneath it like everything is perfect. >> Um and it I mean it's fully loaded DTS. >> For a second when I was walking back here and you're like
I wanted one of these for a while I was like what the heck? I was like is it a Mary Kay car? >> No. That's what cuz I was like is it got pink to it? I was I mean I would have Bought probably any night vision car because they're just so rare. But this was the one I really wanted pearl white and a 2000 which was the first year. They only ran from 2000 to05 with night vision. >> Gotcha. >> And but I'm like I want the first year. I want the pearl white, you
know? It's got to have the sunroof. It's got to have the beige interior or whatever you call this. And and to find an old lady Cream puff car was like, >> what are we talking about? >> All right. I I approve of this. >> All right. All right. >> All right. Now, moving on. something that everyone already >> Yeah, this is an easy one. I don't have to convince you. I, you know, I got to do a little convincing with the caddy. My wife didn't understand it, but this is a typhoon, >> right? >> Which
is like the Grand National. It's like you don't really need to say much more, but this is a typhoon. I bought it um out of Ohio literally in the middle of nowhere. I thought I was either going to get out of there with a really nice typhoon or I was going to get murdered and chopped up into little pieces. Fair. Because the guy's house was 20 minutes inside of a forest, like just in the middle of the forest. I'm like he had they he just got internet a year prior. So anyway, uh this car was
weird because it sat for 20 plus years in his garage, but he kept washing it and kept it clean, but it never ran. And it was a theft recovery from like 2000 or something. So anyway, I I bought this thing for $10,000. And this is a rustfree like it's a 92. >> But what year did you buy it? >> Oh, like a year ago >> for 10,000. A Typhoon for 10,000. 10,000 for Typhoon for a Typhoon. And I mean, You know, I haven't done the paint correction yet, but I haven't done anything to the body.
And like just each piece of cladding is like a,000 bucks, >> dude. That's what I'm saying. This is with I don't see any rust. >> No, there's no rust. The body is awesome. The interior needs some work because again, it was a theft recovery. I bought a second Typhoon, a parts one in Florida, and I already took all the interior I needed off of that one. So, I Have it. That's like the next video is all that stuff. But this one, like the uh Grand National, also had a rod knock that I fixed with bearings.
>> Oh. >> Um Yeah. So that was cool. >> Again, did you just roll bearings? >> Yeah, I just rolled them in and it was great. I spent a ton of time on this like the detailing of this engine bay. Like this did not look like this at all. It was a rat's nest. >> How different is the engine that's that comes in the Grand Nationals to these? >> Not much different. This is a 43. That's a 38. They're both push rod GM V6s from the same time. So very similar. This does have a distributor.
This is way more closely related to a Chevy small block. This is literally a Chevy small block chopped chopped down. So, it still has a distributor and everything, but but yeah, like I repainted, I polished, I painted the inside, and then we did These awesome custom wheels with the gigantic bare brakes. >> I was going to say they're like a bigger version of what came on them stock. >> Exactly. So, they're like OEM plus. They're they're a lot bigger. The I think the factories were 15s or 16s. These are 18s. Um, but we have six
piston, bare brakes all the way around. >> Oh my god, this thing stops on a dive. >> Oh my god. So, we did brakes, suspension, tires, wheels, and we have Even more coming for this one. It's going to get lowered a little bit more. New exhaust. Uh, we got to do the interior, but yeah, love the Typhoon. Always wanted one of these. Another weird one like the GN where this would beat Ferraris of the same year. >> Why did GM do this? I don't know, but I love them for it, you know. >> And then
radically different over here. R35. >> Yeah. 2009, first year of the R35. This Thing only has 40,000 mi. Bought it at an auction, another dealer auction, and it was listed as having 61,000 mi, but they listed it wrong. It spent 10 years in Canada, so that was in kilome. >> Oh. >> And it list it was listed as a bad transmission. So, I paid 47 grand for a clean title um GTR, which is really cheap, you know, um because it supposedly had a bad trans and had six or what did they list it for? I
forget Whatever the calculation is. cuz it had 60some,000 mi according to them. When I got it, it actually only had 38,000 mi. That was the They messed up. They also messed up that they had a brand new Shep or Yeah. Chef Chev. Yeah, it had a brand new Chef transmission and it just needed the reset of the adaptations because it sat for a year. What? >> So, it was skipping gears and it was all messed up. I literally pressed a button on my computer and fixed it. >> Wow. So, this thing we ended up um
I actually had this car completely repainted. It was never in an accident or anything like that. It just had little chips like in every panel to where when I bought it to brought it to the body shop, they're like, "We can spot fix all this." But honestly, >> yeah, >> let's just paint the whole thing. So, we painted the whole thing, PPFed most of it, got custom, these are totally custom Three-piece wheels, and then I did a whole new infotainment system on the Instagram in the interior. So, the screen and the cluster are all digital.
They're beautiful. >> And as for performance-wise, anything done to it? >> Yeah. Yeah. You a full full bolt-on E85. It did. I did bigger fuel pumps, injectors. >> So, what's it make for power? >> It did 640 allhe. >> Okay, that makes sense. >> Yeah. So, like a nice normal GTR bolt-on number. >> Okay. Then we got this New Edge. >> Yeah. The 03 Terminator Cobra 0304, same thing. Always wanted one of these. I bought my Trans Am WS6 in 2003, so right when these came out, and this was my main competitor. So, I used
to go to the Chicago street races, the Indiana street races, and I was racing against these Cobras and Evos and all that stuff at The same time, but I always liked these. Um, this one only has 13,000 mi. >> What was wrong with this one when you got it? >> Oh my god. >> You guys are seriously going to think I'm the luckiest guy in the world, but this is just looking that way. >> I know. I know. But I've had like a hundred cars on the channel, so we're just talking about some of my
lucky ones. But, let me just show you. Hang On. All right. So, this when I it was listed as an engine problem. I got it for 32 grand, which which sounds like a lot of money, but a 13,000 milei clean title oneowner Cobra, they're like in the mid-40s to 50s sometimes. And this is zinc yellow, so one of like 400. Uh, anyway, you see how there's the intercooler cap >> and the coolant cap for the engine. >> Yeah. >> One of them says 16 PSI, one of them Says 10. >> They were swapped. >> They
were swapped. So, this was boiling over because the engine's cooling system will get over 10 PSI for >> sure. >> And it was starting to overheat and boil and coolant, whatever. So, they just, it was owned by Carvana. They just threw their hands up in the air. So, I switched the caps. It's been mint. I put like four or 500 miles on it and it's Perfect. Um, this thing sounds amazing. I literally just finished. Actually, it's Saturday. My videos come out every Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. Today's video, when you guys were filming at my
house, I released this >> uh part two. So, I just did a twin disc clutch. The rear the rear cylinder heads I tied with a coolant tube so they don't so they stay cool. >> Mhm. new input shaft on the trans. That was a weak spot on these. I went with a 26 blind. >> So, a lot of uh mods to make this stronger for future horsepower mods, which are coming up. So, okay. So, the Wrangler, everybody does lifts and big wheels. I bought this with the lift and the big wheels. Straight six Wrangler. I
got to lower it to show you guys what's going on with the Wrangler. So, hang on. >> So, this kind of >> Oh, wow. >> This is a little bit of a giveaway of What's going on. >> There's uh some some extra piping going on there. >> There is a little bit of pipe in here. Yep. >> You might be a plumber. All right. It's just a lifted Wrangler. So, >> it's just a lifted Wrangler. >> Extra pipes underneath. >> This is just an extra radiator, we'll call it. But, uh, she's got a turbo. >>
Got a little Wuhan Whistler up in there. >> That's right. That's right. So, I found on eBay and I got to finish this. Um, I found on eBay they someone made a $1,200 turbo kit and I'm like, "This is going to be junk." And a lot of it was. The entire cold side was junk. Um, and we had to do the exhaust. There was a lot that was junk. But I still have the factory, you know, Chinese turbo. Uh, we retrofitted though a V12 Mercedes-Benz intercooler. >> Water to air intercooler. So, I got a universal
uh, heat exchanger, a big pump, and this is straight off of a V12 Mercedes, and it works really well. I don't have power numbers on this. We tuned it, but I can just tell you it it rips. I'd imagine the high quality suspension Jeeps come with, especially the lifts, it's probably a riot to drive because just all over the place. >> It's very dangerous. I'm >> It's very dangerous. We're upgrading the Suspension right now. Like this is the video we're filming. >> Some thicker links might help. >> I'm trying to make it a little bit
less dangerous. Um, but it is a lifted Wrangler at the end of the day. So, we're taking this to there's a place in Indiana called the Badlands actually soon and we'll be testing this off-road climbing sand dunes and everything. Yeah, just the noise alone is just it's awesome. >> It's inline 6 turbo. It's basically just a big 2JZ, right? >> Yeah. >> It sounds like a tractor. >> It's very Do you want to hear it? >> Yes. >> All right. >> So that So that sounds kind of normal. >> That sounds normal. A >> little
weird. Oh, there you go. >> Hell yeah. >> Yeah. So, >> it's got a unique sound to it for sure. You're right. Definitely more tractor than 2J. >> Yeah. So, I can't wait to just hear this thing kind of ripping up a, you know, a little sandune and >> making all sorts of weird noises, but it is it's like fast and dangerous feeling and awesome and I love it. What do we got here with the Mercedes? First of all, we walk in the shop. This was I wanted to scream because I'm a big wagon guy.
I have a couple Mercedes wagons myself, but this is E55 AMG wagon. >> Yeah, this So, I started with Mercedes as an apprentice when I was 18 in 2003. >> Okay. >> Right when this body E-Class came out and the E55 and I had never literally touched a Mercedes before I started working at the dealer. I was hired right Out of tech school and uh I thought the E-Class was just I'm like this is crazy. And then I saw my first E55 in 03. I drove it and I'm like, you got to be kidding me.
This thing, 500 foot-lbs of torque, you know, just crazy power. And then there was a wagon, but they only made like 180 wagons for the United States. So, you never see these. And about four or five years ago, I found this one in New Orleans. And I bought it for 18 grand. It had some miles, like 145 at the time or something like that. This thing's been through a lot of changes. We probably ended up repainting half of this car just due to rock chips and stuff. I just wanted to make this, you know, like
if you look at the license plate on this car, that's how people on my channel know I'm keeping a car forever. If it gets the LSC plate, >> it's a lifer. So, when I found an E55 wagon, which also the E55 in general started my YouTube channel, that's when I started getting actual real views. So, I was coming out with Trans Am videos when I first started, but I was a master tech for 10 years. Mhm. >> So, I think coming from that place of authority on YouTube and being the guy that would show you
how to fix your car, but I actually knew how to fix the car. >> Yeah. >> Kind of helped start the channel. People are like, "Hey, I can learn from this guy." So, >> So, you had a sedan before? >> I had an 03 black sedan. >> Gotcha. >> Uh E55 and I did everything, all the normal repairs, modifications, and all that kind of stuff. Sold that car. I loved it because I got the wagon. And this is my kids, my daughters specifically, my two daughters. >> This is the best part of the Mercedes wagons
right It's a sevenseater. >> It's the coolest thing. >> Yeah. So, they love they love it back here. They're my backup camera, too. You know, there's no backup camera, so they're likeep. Um, so my kids love it. And I've done so much this. It has a Whipple supercharger. I got to show you guys this. >> I didn't know they could do a Whipple on this. >> Yeah. So, Victory Road Performance, uh, they sell a lot of AMG performance Parts. They're a great sponsor of mine. They literally developed the system. So, they made adapters to fit
the cylinder heads and then it's a Gen five Whipple. So, it's like the best current Whipple. >> Oh my god. >> But yeah, these this is like a 700 horsepower car. Stock engine, stock trans. And yeah, this thing this thing rips, man. >> These things were making four what? >> It was like 470 Stock at the crank. >> Yeah. >> So 200 more at the wheels is >> a lot. It's a lot. And one of my earlier videos was reviewing one with like 500,000 miles or I think it had four something at the time, but
I know the guys that own it and it's got half a million miles stock engine. >> That's so cool. >> They last forever. This is not going anywhere. >> We got a truck that not many people even know what they're looking at that realize it's special. This is a quadrer pickup. >> Yeah. And that's I bought this for 5,700 bucks at the auction. And if you guys know these era trucks, they all rot out everywhere. or the cab corners and the bottom of the doors and the frame and everything like that. So, that's a good
deal for a normal non-rotted out truck, which is what this is. It's a oneowner Georgia truck and it's a little dirty right now. I haven't gotten any of the cosmetics, but it is as solid as you can get. I mean, it is absolutely perfect. And I got it for 5,700 bucks. No one probably knew it was a quad steer. >> Now, for the people at home, a lot of people at home that don't know what the hell a quad steer is, run it through us. This is unique opportunity that it's in the air and you
can see it. Yeah. So, this has rear steer. It was out from 02 To05 and then GM discontinued it until the new Hummer EV. So, they went 20 years with no rear steering vehicle. This is it. It's an electronic rack in the back. It is actually built into the differential cover, >> which is wild. Um, there's a button inside and everything. You can turn it on and off. It doesn't crabwalk like the new ones. >> Does it only work under a certain mile an hour or does it work at high speeds As well? >> It
works all the time and it's very aggressive. So, like you can park this thing with your wheel turned and the back wheels are turned too. It's cool. And it maneuvers like crazy. When we pulled it in the shop, normally we have to do like a threepoint turn to get it into one of these lifts. One shot. We got it in in one shot. >> From here to there, >> like we backed it in >> and then normally we have to go up and back and one shot. It just >> It's so usable. It's so It's
such a great feature. Now the new Silverado EV and the Sierra EV have this, but uh but yeah, rear steer and then the guy optioned this thing out like he must have waited forever. But it's these are 1500. This one's a 1500, >> but it's got eight. It's got the eight lug heavyduty uh off the HD heated leather sunroof, 4L80 transmission. >> So, this is a maxed out steer 1500. >> Yes. 6 L engine. It's got the Gen 5 LS block, so the first year with the good rods and full floating wrist pins and all
that good stuff. So, oh, I got to show you guys the wheels. Hang on. People have probably seen these on other heavy duty. They only came on the HDs. I didn't realize how special these wheels are though. They are extremely light for a big truck wheel for eight lug. They're made in Hungary and they look like They're just they look like legit billet wheels. >> Yeah. >> You know, like aftermarket really expensive billet wheels, but these are factory and and he was able to get these on the 1500 quadricer with the eight lug. So, >>
like the most maxed out quadrer. >> Yeah, >> that's wild. Also, for the people at home, if you want to identify one of These, you just got to look for the bed. It looks like like a half of a dy bed or like a quarter of a dy bed sticks out just enough that they needed to add marker lights to them for like DOT stuff. >> Yeah. And then if your rear wheels look like your tie rods are broken in half, you know you have a a quadster. There you go. Is there anything else we
need to see here at the this show? >> We do have like a 600 horsepower 15 Passenger Chevy Express van. >> What? >> Yes, it's the LSC Express. LSC Express. Where's that at? >> That's in the front. I'll uh grab the keys to that one because it sounds pretty gnarly. >> There she is. >> Doesn't look like much. >> It doesn't. And I kept it with the patina. These had a very major issue with paint failure. >> Seen it quite a few times. >> Yeah. And all the white vans. Um but this one is completely
rust-free. It is very nice. But uh but excellent condition van outside of the paint failure. >> Hey, there's an exotic place right down the street. >> I was going to say this. So, this thing makes as much power as that thing does. >> Yeah. This did 550 wheel. It's got a triple fuel pump system, E85. It's Procharged. Yeah, it sounds pretty cool. >> That sounds like a race van. >> Yeah, dude. It's got the big blowoff valve on it and yeah, throw charged. It's a D1 SE, so this will make a lot of power. Uh,
I did the I upgraded the entire valve train, you know, 200,000 mi and springs and all that. >> It's got like a $10,000 transmission. >> So, this really would take that Lambo probably. >> Yeah. I mean, it's built, man. Like, It's built. It's got the trans to back up the power. The fuel system is probably the biggest fuel system I've ever done, you know, with three gigantic pumps. We've towed like probably 10 projects. We've driven it, you know, thousands of miles. Like, it's been everywhere. It's It's awesome, man. It's very nice. >> Yeah. Love the
van. >> All right. Now that we've seen all of your cars at this location, Yes. out of The cars here, >> what's your favorite? >> This is like asking someone which one of their children they're okay with like not having, you know? So, I'm going to go E55 wagon. Yeah. I mean, if you if I absolutely had to pick from here, I could not say goodbye. >> I approve of this. I think Witty approves of this. >> Yeah, I do. And Woody gets to ride in this one. So, let's put some cameras on It. Go
for it. >> All right. Hell yeah. >> Before Max goes, >> yeah, we got some merch. >> Oh, hell yeah. >> Yeah. I didn't know what you guys like, so I got you all three of the same thing. This our America designs United We Race. >> Yes. >> Got it for you, Max. Yours is the bigger of the uh of the bunch. >> Dude, these are really nice. I like these. >> That's sick, man. That's really nice. Holy cow. If you guys want one at home, you find.com/shop. go check them out, but I'll let these
guys here get for free. Awesome. >> Thank you. No worries. >> All right, we're in the Whipple wagon. I hear the Whipple wagon. That's right. Ooh, all Alcantara on the top. They were messing around. They weren't messing Around. >> Fancy. So, this is an '05. What year did you get it? >> Um, I got it like four years ago. >> Four years ago. Okay. And when you got it, did it still have the stock supercharger? >> Yeah, it was completely stock. >> And what what have you done? I know you said you made the supercharger
bigger. You got something fancy there. You worked with a company and they got you Some custom stuff done. >> Yeah. So, Victory Road Performance VRP, they made a kit for the M13K engine to adapt the Gen 5 Whipple or the Gen 4 I think on the early days. Um, so yeah, they sell a whole complete kit to to put the Whipple on there. And then, you know, I put 1,50cc injectors. It's flex fuel now. Yeah. >> Um, long tube headers and obviously, you know, tuning and stuff. if uh we reune the trans as well. But
yeah, so the um >> it's not super loud as far as you know the supercharger wine. >> Yeah. >> Um they just make a it just makes really good power. But I noticed that I have the same I forget if this is a Gen 4 or a Gen 5, but my C63, which is at the lakehouse, has a Whipple as well, and it's it's very quiet, you know. Um >> so it doesn't really give you that like Hellcat kind of wine or anything like that. Um, but I think it's pretty Fitting for like a luxurious
Mercedes. It's not super loud, you know. And that's I didn't want the exhaust to be loud either. >> No. >> You know, >> I'm keep looking over these buttons. Is that to up and down shift? >> Yeah. So, these had instead of like paddle shifters, they have literal buttons. So, >> Oh, it's on the back. >> It's on. So, this is downshift and this is upshift. >> Okay. >> But, uh, >> it's kind of BMW. >> Oh, nice. Nice. It's a little like this is a torque converter 5-speed transmission from the early to mid 2000s.
So, the paddles are almost kind of like a gimmick. They don't you can't shift faster than the computer in this thing and like it's Kind of pointless, but >> but they're cool. You know, some people put the big actual patterns that paddles that clip on and I'm like I think it's too modern looking in this old interior, you know? Y >> So, I just left it like that. >> Nice. >> And then, uh I put the CLS55 wheels on it. So, those look good. >> Yeah. So, like I don't mind the Oh, this He likes
it. >> I didn't mind the E55 wheels either, but I I always the CLS fitment really just kind of flushes it out and makes it really nice. And I like the five-spoke CLS. I think it looks nice. >> Um, so as far as cosmetics, that's pretty much it. Um, and then yeah, all the mechanical stuff. So, did all the normal maintenance stuff, you know, all the bushings, the joints, the everything, the fluid. >> You can do all that cuz you're >> Yeah. Right. Cool. And you said you've had what a hund over a hundred vehicles
go through your channel before. >> Oh yeah, probably. Yeah, I mean it's eight it's been over eight years now. Um >> and I I probably Yeah, I probably buy about 12 cars a year. So probably Yeah, maybe a little less. >> So you buy 12 cars a year and you keep one or two of those out of the bunch. >> That is a That's not bad at all. That's the perfect amount. >> I know. It's just now that it's been a year that should be 16 cars, but somehow it's like 22 right now that I
own. sometimes three, you know, a really good one, you know, you just can't pass up. >> The thing is, a lot of the cars that I like happen to be cheap, >> you know, like the DTS we looked at it was $4,000. You know, a lot of my a lot of the cars I have are about 10 grand or less. >> So, it's not like I have 22 $300,000 Lamborghinis, you know? I don't actually have that many that much money in cars considering I have 22 cars, you know. Yeah. >> So, my collection is easy
to easier to get. >> Uh, some of them at least. And but that's just truly what I'm into. You know, I never had the Lamborghini poster on my wall. You know, I >> I like the more kind of everyday cars. I mean, that's kind of how I grew up. >> You buy them for yourself. You don't buy them for everyone else. Whenever anyone asks for like advice with YouTube or how to post or what to post or whatever it is, I always tell them to do what you're passionate about and post what you like because
you can't please everybody. It's impossible. And so if you're chasing a certain group and you're always changing your content to please people, you're going to lose all the subscribers you did have and it's going to be you're Just always going to be chasing your tail. But if you're like, "This is who I am. These are the cars I like." those people that like the same thing will will find you. They'll stick around because you keep staying on that same vibe and then you get new followers and they're way more hardcore because they're like, "All right,
I with this guy. He's being genuine." >> Yeah. Exactly. >> So, I think that's huge. >> Yeah. I when I first started my YouTube career, I I started making trans Am videos and like a Fox body video and stuff. And then I got into the Mercedes stuff, which is what grew the channel, but I never wanted to get like typ cast as the Mercedes guy because I'm in truly into >> everything. And I, you know, I grew up as like more of a muscle muscle car American car guy. >> Yeah. >> So, early on in
my YouTube career, I kind of made a a flip. I mean, I still kept going with Mercedes. I would I would definitely buy, you know, a Mercedes a year at least or something because I love them. But but I started just I'm like, listen, when I buy a car, it's got to be interesting and I have to truly love it because I'm not a good actor. Most people aren't. >> So don't try. Exactly. >> Like people can tell in my videos like I I some of my like longtime subscribers can just basically comment. They know
if I'm going to keep the car from the the first video even if I don't say it. They like that's an Alex car like you know. But I only buy cars that have an interesting story that are truly interesting to me. And I've done a great job of not really following any trends, which has helped me, I think, immensely because to go down that path of supercars like so many YouTube channels, They are expensive. They are problematic. They and >> look at my new Ferrari. Look at my And then what? What are you going to
go down? Are you going to get, you know, a $4,000 Mustang after you've had a Lamborghini? That's tough. >> You set that bar and that's tough. and not not really sustainable for a lot of uh >> for a lot of people, you know. So >> So how was the wagon? >> Great. Definitely living in luxury. It's got dynamic bolsters, >> so when you take corners, it'll inflate and deflate. >> Yep. It's got Alcantara roof in here. Very nice. That felt classy. Good family car. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. >> Very nice. >> All right. After
a quick drive in the E55, I'm kind of jealous about that one. Uh we are at your third location which is your new lake house. Is that right? >> Yes. It's the lake garage we call it. Yeah. >> And how many cars do we have here? >> Uh we have four inside. Yeah. >> All right. Let's check them out. >> Yeah. >> There we go. There we go. >> Yeah. There wide variety everywhere else. A Delorean. >> Delorean. Mercedes. What do we got? >> It is Camaro. >> It's very different here. It's very different here.
Yeah. >> I like that. >> Yeah. I tried to bring a little bit of everything. I don't have anything Japanese though. But Northern Ireland? >> That is that really where they're from? >> Yeah, Northern Ireland. >> I I did not know that. >> Yeah. And try saying on YouTube that it's just from Ireland. I learned Quickly that it's Northern Ireland. >> Oh, they get real upset about that. >> People got upset. People got upset. I'm like, I'm sorry. >> So, the new lake garage, how long have you guys been here? >> 2 months. >> Oh,
not very long at all. >> Yeah, not very long at all. And the previous or the original owner that was here for 35 years, uh, was a was a real race car driver. He was in formula Racing. Uh he was in drag racing as well and he owned a really famous engine building shop around here. He's long passed away. He was an older guy, but I I didn't know him. I didn't know anything about this. I just saw the listing with this gigantic garage. I'm like, it had to been a car guy. >> Yeah. I
was about to say there aren't many houses on the lake with four cars. >> Oh, no. Some most of the lake houses concentrate on the lake. They don't care About the garage. When we saw this listing, we've been looking for years and the rest of the property is beautiful. But I'm like, this garage is it's key. And then around back I could park a trailer, you know, and all sorts of stuff. So, it this alleviates my need for a much larger shop, you know, it it helps. Um, but yeah, here are some of the cars.
>> Let's dig into it. Let's start on the far wall over here. >> Okay. >> Second gen Lightning. And it's very What color is this? >> True blue metallic. >> Is this a color that they came in? >> Yeah, only 2002. There's only a thousand, so one year. >> I haven't seen hardly any. >> I've never seen one of these outside of my own in person. Okay. >> Um, but yeah, true blue metallic. Very rare. And I love this thing. I've had it For probably 5 years. I mean, you can see the bed is used.
There's a screen door I need to bring to Home Depot. But now, this lives at the lake garage. You need a pickup truck out here. It's kind of country, you know. So, we use this to fill up, you know, fuel tanks for the boat and go pick up lawn stuff and whatever. We just use it as a real pickup truck. Last week, it was on an airirst strip racing uh Adam's diesel C4 widebody. So, you know, it's got drag Radials in the back. Uh, I built this engine, uh, fully built, forged everything. >> Was it
blown up when you got it? >> It was. Yeah. When I when I got this a few years ago, it ran well. I test drove it in the rain, which was a mistake, and I didn't realize that every time you got into boost, which I couldn't do in the rain, it would blow the head gasket out and it would it would pressurize the cooling system. So, I thought Originally, it's got a bad head gasket. Took the heads off, cracked rim land on ring land on the piston. But, I put 5,000 mi on it with a
broken piston and a bad head gasket. Not bad. >> As long as you never got into boost, it was fine. But anyway, I took this engine out, rebuilt it all. I I got to show you guys the engine. It looks pretty nice. >> Oh, yeah. >> Um, so of course, of course, this is a bigger supercharger. And yeah, I spent a little little time on just making the engine bay look nice and kind of OEM plus all new stickers. I'm a big fan of just factory stickers. So, I don't know, just stupid stuff that I'm
into. But, uh, >> so, how big is the blower on there? >> This is a 2.3 L. Uh, it's an older blower. It's, you know, it it does okay. We did 550 wheel. >> So, yeah, I built the engine, forge rods and pistons, stock heads. >> They're the eight thread. These had the issue where the four thread uh spark plug that would rip out and the spark plug would shoot out of the cylinder. It was a horrible >> That's fun, >> horrible factory defect. But these are the good heads. Bigger mass air, bigger throttle body,
bigger injectors, 93 octane pump gas, headers, you know, all that kind of good stuff. A real just a really nice, stout, clean, reliable Setup. 550 wheel sounds like pretty good amount for this. >> Yeah. Yeah. There's no weight in the back, so you know, it's hard to keep these things under control, but with the drag radial, it it helps. And uh >> Yeah, she's a great truck, man. I love it. I love it. >> All right, going from the second gen to a Camaro. >> Yeah, I got a first gen Camaro. Um this is a
1968. It was originally sold at the Mikum Auto Auction about 4 years ago for like 45 grand. >> Okay. The guy that I bought it through was going through some financial issues. He was selling his house. He was selling the car. He was selling everything. He drove it one time in four years and he sold it to me for 23 grand. >> That sounds like a travesty for him. >> Yeah. I mean, but he was he was happy. He's like, "Hey, I'm going to lose this Thing to bankruptcy." He's like, "Literally, I he transferred the
title into his girlfriend's name so they couldn't take it." So, he's like, "I'll" He's like, at this point, he's like, "This is a bonus for me, >> you know." So, yeah. This is um this is not an original car. How did you find this one? >> Uh, this one was a friend of a friend and he was like, "Hey, I'm going to buy this." And he went out to look at it and He's like, "The trans won't shift. It's got a bunch of leaks." He's like, "It's a little bit too much for me." Turns out
it does shift. It's a two-speed Power Glide. So, he thought it was a broken transmission. >> Oh, he thought it just didn't have another gear. >> It just only has two gears. And I'll be honest with you, when I test drove it, I wasn't thinking of a Power Glide either. And I'm like, "Oh man, it does only have Two gears." And then I get it back to the shop and it literally says Power Glide in the trans. I'm like, "I can't believe I didn't think of that." Yeah, you know, like I know about power glides,
but anyway, this um not an original car. It's it's worth more than what I paid, but it's and it looks pretty. The paint is awesome. Um but I don't think it was worth 45 that he sold it at me for. It was kind of pieced together missing the whole heater box. >> It says 383 on the fender, but it's actually just a regular 350 out of like a '90s truck. Very slow, but the looks, I mean, it just the paint. They they spent a lot. I mean, the paint was really great. It's really a nice
paint job. It's had quarters. It's had fenders. It's not original. Uh, but I don't care. >> But still a 68 Camaro. >> It's a 68 Camaro convertible in a great color. It sounds cool. Um, I don't know If you guys saw the parts on the table, but that's >> for this. Gotcha. >> Yeah. So, I'm going to try and make it a little faster. I don't really care to go crazy. >> Okay. We got a little bit of everything over here. >> We got a little bit of everything. So Holly is a is a great
sponsor of mine and they sent out their Holly Sniper EFI kit. So like everything to do to make This fuel injected. We'll even have this little screen and we >> have a Snip That's the Sniper 2, I believe. >> Yeah, I think so. Yeah, >> I have the Sniper one on my Corvette. Can't can't speak more great things. >> I'm so excited to do this. Um they sent out the really cool old school Holly valve covers. We're converting to electric fuel pump and then I've got uh a bigger cam shaft. This came with the Holly
kit, too, the new distributor. Um, and then we got some rockers, aluminum cylinder heads, a better intake. So, you know, and then it's got these horrible digital Dakota digital gauges. They're so weird looking. >> So, these um >> are new, but they look like the old ones. >> Very nice, >> you know. So, yeah. Um, so a little refresh on the Camaro is coming up. Probably >> going to get some love here soon. >> Yeah. Yeah. But it run it runs fine now. It's just, you know, so anyway. Yeah. The Camaro is going to get
some work in and yeah, I don't know. It's just a cool cruiser. >> And then Delorean. >> The Delorean. >> I can't say it's the weirdest thing you own, but I didn't think you would have a Delorean car. >> This is definitely up there as one of my favorites. The Back to the Future trilogy is by far my favorite movie trilogy. My favorite movies as a kid. Again, I was born in ' 84, so you know, these movies were coming out when I was a kid. I love sci-fi. I love time travel. I love it
all. So, >> heck yeah. A Delorean was always something I never thought I would own one, you know, but uh but I was looking for a very specific Delorean. I wanted a Barn find, not just because I do restorations on my channel, but because in Back to the Future one, it ends up in a barn, you know, and I just thought it'd be cool. So, >> uh, Delorean Midwest is one of the like largest and only Delorean restoration companies, and they're they happen to be local to me. >> So, I had mentioned for years on
the channel I was looking for Delorean. So, he reached out. He's like, I can find You a Delorean. It took him two years, but he's called me one day and he's like, "I found a barn find in Fargo, North Dakota. It's been sitting for 32 years. All the tires are flat. It's in an inch of dust. The whole nine." I'm like, "That's what I want." So, I went out to North Dakota, dragged this thing with a winch on my trailer. The brakes were locked. I mean, it was a disaster. >> And I spent the next
four months of my life, probably 50 hours a week, just Going nuts, just restoring as much as I possibly could. We even regrained the stainless. I was going to say, how bad was the body at the time? >> The body was okay. Um, but these these do have a grain. They have a natural grain. And at the Delorean factory in Northern Ireland, they used horsehair on a wheel, literal horseair. And that's how they cut a very specific grain into the Delorean. >> Delorean Midwest has the original Horsehair thing from the factory from 1981. Although they
they used a a newer one that they kind of made up. Um, but we regrained they regrained. Uh, I mean it was 10 hours, two guys, myself included, the whole thing. So, it looked it looks like a brand new Delorean. >> Do you have any uh do you have any tips to the uh Cybert truck people on how to maintain? >> You know what's funny? The owner's manual says you can use gasoline to Clean it. >> Really? >> So, it's kind of cool. Kind of a cool throwback to when no one cared about emissions, right?
Literally using gasoline all over the bar. Um, bar bars keepers barkeepers friend is an very old school stainless steel cleaner and yeah, it's the best way honestly. It it cleans it up really nice. But uh but yeah, we've Man, I this thing really went through a full restoration. It didn't Run obviously. We had a whole new fuel system, all sorts of stuff at the engine. The interior mice were all over this thing. Uh the seats are original. I did all new carpet. I just lots of little various bits in the interior. >> I can't say
I've uh ever sat in a ro or ridden in one. >> I had never either until I finally got this thing running. So, I made the goal of this video series. Um it started in like July and my goal was to have this Thing on the front lawn of my house for Halloween. >> Okay. >> And I wanted it as a Halloween decoration and then me and my wife dressed up. So, I was Marty, she was Jennifer. >> Very nice. Um, and I made it just literally the night or the day of I think Halloween.
Yeah. It and it started snowing like crazy. Like it was December and I drove this thing in the snow for The very first maiden voyage to my front lawn. Parked it on the front. It stopped snowing. I dusted it off and uh I had my Delorean >> done for Halloween. So weird. Some people set, you know, race goals and stuff. I set lawn or ornament goals, I guess. it. Um, this is a gas what they call a gas flap car. >> So, the Back to the Future car had a flat hood. So, none of these,
no gas cap. >> The first roughly 800 to a,000 I think had this. They made 8,000 Deloreans. This is a very early production. This is number like 600. And the early ones got some really cool features that no one really knows about except for Delorean dorks. Um, this has the radio antenna built into the windshield. >> Okay, >> so original DMC windshield. This is like priceless. >> The gas flap hood is very rare to have a gas flap hood. Uh, this also has darker wheels. So, the Back to the Future car has silver wheels. This
has the darker ones. They only ran on the first 600. >> Oh. >> It also has gloss painted bumpers. They tried to match later they tried to match the stainless and they put matte silver bumpers. The original like 600ish of these cars had gloss. Wow. >> So, I kept it gloss. So, this is a very Rare, super early production number. And when I disassembled basically all the body panels to restore it, it was so cool. I would find little brackets that you could tell were like they ran to the hardware store and like whittleled them
themselves, like ground them down. The car was just pieced together by people that had probably never owned a car. >> Sure. >> You know, Northern Ireland was at war at the time. They and they put together This factory out of nowhere. So, the story behind the Delorean, the Back to the Future movies, just everything just makes this one of my favorite cars of all time. Just >> I could go on, guys. I could go on about the story, but >> I think we might talk a little bit more about it a little later. >> Yeah.
Okay, cool. >> Okay, >> now the Mercedes over here, the 63. >> Yes. So, this is a 2014. It's a 507 edition. Also kind of rare. Um, so what makes this different is the hood is completely different. Uh, it had the performance pack, so more it had 507 horsepower. Uh, so about 50 more than the regular one. This one was speced with the Deno two-tone interior and the panel roof and everything. Uh, it it has Dronic, which is a rare option for um, adaptive cruise control. >> Gotcha. >> U, but yeah, so super rare spec.
This was the second to last year of this with this body style with the engine. The naturally aspirated 6.2 2 L engine in this car was the first and only naturally aspirated V8 ever built by AMG. >> Really? >> Yeah. So, the E55 engine was originally a Mercedes engine. AMG hopped it up. They did their exclusively AMG. >> This was the first time AMG themselves Built the engine and not Mercedes. Yeah. So, and then they never Then after this it went turbo. So, they only did one naturally aspirated >> V8 engine. So, kind of a
special engine. >> What's the story on this one? Dirty. >> This one actually doesn't >> nice when you bought it. Yeah, I bought it from a detailer in California. It was a great price, so that's why I bought it. It had been sitting for a while. >> Gotcha. >> Um, so it was misfiring and stuff. The, you know, these engines, they need, they're race engines. These revved to like 8,000 RPM. They are race engines. They need to be beaten on every once in a while. So, this thing just had sticking fuel injectors, a little bit
dirty fuel. I literally took it out and I gave it a good oldfashioned Italian tuneup, >> and just beat on it. >> I beat on it, and I literally changed The fluids and everything, and then it ran beautifully. Yeah, this thing is wild. I got to start it for you. It's got a wicked wicked cold start. It's very loud in the beginning, but it then it just sounds great. So, holy. Yeah, but like one of the most violent cold starts, but it'll idle down and when you're driving it, it's not I mean, if you get
on it, it's loud, but what? Yeah. I was not ready for that initial I it's hard to explain like to people, but I'm like the cold start is is just nuts. But uh these engines have dual throttle bodies. The throttle response the way they the engines it's a race engine. Like it just it's like it free revs to 8,500 RPM and it just bangs gears. It's amazing. It's a great car. I like it. Very nice. Very nice. I approve. All right. Out of your four cars that are here, you have to pick a favorite for
us To take out. >> Delorean. >> That was easy. >> It's the slowest by of my whole fleet. But you you had mentioned you've never been in one. >> You got to experience a Delorean. Okay. >> You know, you've been in a lot of f I know you guys have been in a million fast cars. Way faster than any of my stuff. >> Let's Let's slow it down a bit. This Thing is just so much fun. >> All right. Hell yeah. Oh, you kind of just fall into it. It's not bad. >> Yeah. Once you're
in it, it's comfortable. And then you have a leather strap on the door. That's factory. >> This is factory. >> That's totally factory. I did replace it, but that's So that's another one of those early car things. Then later they built it into the handle, but they real People were complaining they couldn't reach the door. So Delorean's fix was l like they took a leather belt and just made a strap. So, it is what it is. >> Yeah. >> Is there anything I should uh be told before riding in one of these things? >> Just
going to get a lot of looks. >> It's been a wild ride. >> Um, we actually do have air conditioning. >> Oh my gosh. >> It's the coldest air conditioning ever. We got this AC down. It was blowing 34° out of the vents. >> Oh my god. >> With propane. >> So, do you know that propane is you can refrigerate? >> I don't know if this is legal. I didn't actually do this. This is a story, but uh propane. So, this is an old R12 system. Right. >> R12 is you can't find, >> right? >>
And if you do, it's insanely expensive. Um, but yeah, this is uh this is propane. >> Well, it's cold. >> It it gets very cold. Yeah. >> So, for people that don't know, what do these come in? Or what do these come with for an engine, transmission, all that? >> Yeah. So, they had a manual or an auto. This is an auto. I I did want the Manual, but at the end of the day, I really wanted an early build car with a black interior, so that was more important. They're slow cars, so it didn't
matter if you had an auto or a manual. Sure. >> That's not why you're buying it. So, they had a 5-speed or a 3-speed auto. So, that's what this is. Um, the engine is a V6. It was um designed by um Pujo. It So, it's a >> I say what is it sourced from? >> It was used in the uh it was Pujo Renault. Hold on a second. People Delorean people are going to kill me right now. I knew this. I knew this all when I was restoring the car because I was into into the
research. But it was a combined effort between three car manufacturers to and this engine was used a lot um in the Volvos. It was in a lot of Volvos. So it's a very common engine like it wasn't specific necessarily to the Delorean. Um and it's A good engine actually. It's very low power but it's 1981. Corvettes had 175 horsepower in 1981 or whatever, you know. So this is like 140 horsepower V6. >> Um it's, you know, that's about it. It's very just a normal engine. And it uses us uses a Bosch central injection fuel injection
system that Mercedes also used around this time. >> Okay. >> I had to rework all of that. Um forever system. >> Yeah, it's a CIS. >> Yeah. Yeah. Bosch CIS. >> Um yeah, a little I think it's a 32 V6, you know, nothing special. The trans was actually replaced under warranty in 1983. So I got the whole story from the original owner. I bought this from the original owner. He's like 85 years old or something. Really great guy. Um, yeah. He's like, "Yeah, the trans it slipped into neutral in my driveway and it backed up
into he had a custom truck Built to fly his hot air balloons." So that when I bought this, it had damage to the back stainless and the bumper. >> Okay. >> That was from 1983. And he's like, "I never got it fixed." But he got the trans done >> 40 years later. >> Yeah. So, I fixed that. >> I'm sure there are, but are there any special quirks or things to owning one of these that people should know? I Mean, outside of the obvious, the doors, you know, are crazy. Uh, they took us forever to
adjust these doors. Like, so you don't ever want to like get into an accident with one of these cars because you can like Oh, >> the alignment the alignment of the doors and there's double latched and they're very difficult to work with. >> Um, but no, it has no power steering. That's something that's weird. >> Okay. >> Uh, they never came with power steering, but the engine's in the back. It's light. It's only a 2600 lb or 2,700 lb car. Yeah, it's a very light car. >> I did not know they were that light. >>
Yeah. I mean, everybody thinks, "Oh, it's stainless. It's got to be heavy. The stainless is just a skin. It's a very thin skin and it's on fiberglass which is then on a steel frame. So, it has a steel frame that looks really cool. >> Back up. I didn't >> for some reason I have never heard this before. It's it's stainless steel over fiberglass. >> Yeah. Well, I mean like obviously the fenders don't have fiberglass, you know, like the bolt on and off parts are stainless steel. Like the quarter panels when you take them off, they're
stainless steel quarter panels. But the the tub >> the tub like the shell of the car so to Speak is fiberglass and then there's a and then there's a steel normal steel frame. I say normal it's it looks really funky but >> I'm learning all kinds of stuff. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're very interesting man. Like the restoration was one of the most fun I've ever had messing with a car. Every day was like, "Oh my gosh." >> Just learning something new every day. >> Yeah. So no, but other than that uh the Speedo cables,
they all they break. So, this thing reads 16,000 mi. You almost will never find a Delorean that has true mileage >> because they break so much. >> They This again, I spoke to the original owner. He's like, "It broke three times in 2 years." And he's like, "So, sometimes months would go by and I wouldn't fix it. So, it doesn't record mileage." >> Gotcha. >> So, he thinks this has like 35,000 miles. >> You could have more, could have less. >> I mean, he he he's like, "I had the same route every day and he
drove it only for he drove it for 10 years. He drove from 81 to 91 and then parked it and never saw it again until I bought it. >> Really? >> Yeah. He's like, "I have a bunch of farms and barns." And he's like, "I parked it." And he bought he had a bunch Of new C4s and he was just owned some restaurants and he was just a cool dude, you know, buying stuff in the 80s. But >> nice. >> Yeah. So this the mileage when you see these Deloreans with like I mean I'm sure
some of them are true, but like a lot, you know, it's a 20,000 mi Delorean, it's like it might not have 20, it might have 30, you know, something like that. >> Um, yeah. I don't know. I mean, the Whole car is kind of one big quirk, I guess, but but once you get in here and you know them, they're not it's not like weird. It's >> when Okay, sitting in it, I just feel like I'm in an 8098 ' 80s '90s car. I don't feel like I'm in a but then you look up and
literally every single set of eyes you see is st every single set of eyes is staring at this thing. >> I mean, you know, the Grand National gets a lot of looks. This 10 times more. >> So, I have uh I have that C4 or C, sorry, C2 Corvette I told you about. I also have a I don't know if you've heard of them before. It's a Volkswagen Golf Harley Quinn. >> Oh, the colored one. >> Yeah, the multiple colored one. They made 264 of them. >> I put that up against any Ferrari or Lambo
in the street in Omaha. My car will get more looks. >> It's just one of those like what is That? It's just like, oh, and this thing's just got to be like back to the future. Back to the future, Back to the Future. >> Oh, 100%. And it's all smiles. >> No one has a bad memory of this. Yeah, I bet. The movies are so good and wholesome and whatever, but uh >> I mean when you go to the gas station, you're taking at least one picture, usually like three, you know. >> Um but yeah,
I get a lot of people I I Mean I I drive this like I'll go to the grocery store and just use it. Sometimes I'll just get a kick to drive this for a few days in a row and everywhere you go, people want to take pictures. When I go to a car show, there's a line of kids that just want to take pictures. I let them sit in here. We take pictures. I'm like, "Go to town. I don't care. It's just a car, you know, like >> the memories, you know, are just awesome. >>
Well, thank you so much for riding the Delorean. That was >> once in a first in my lifetime riding a Delorean. That was wild. >> Yeah. >> We We didn't go 88 because we didn't want to go back in time, you know, but this thing is such a vibe. You don't feel like you're in a Delorean. You just feel like you're in an 80s car. But it definitely you look at any anybody you drive by there's this thing gets >> broken >> more necks broken on that one short drive than any anything I've ever been
in. I think >> that was awesome. >> That was freaking wild. >> Well, imagine this car in 1981 in Fargo, North Dakota. >> That'd be pretty wild. >> Like 81 Fargo was like nothing was made and some dude was just driving one of these around. So >> freaking wild. Well, Alex, thank you so much for letting us come around and know you for the whole day, going to all three of your properties, checking out all your cars. We had a great freaking time. It was my pleasure. It was nice to meet you guys. Been watching
the videos forever, so it was really, really cool to hang out. >> Well guys, that's going to do it for this episode. If you guys know of a garage that we need to check out that's Cool with analysis, probably not going to happen, but if you do, leave it in the comments below. Uh, until then, we'll see you guys in the next episode. >> See you guys.
