ever wish that you could script your videos so fast that you could actually hit a regular upload schedule but if you're like most YouTubers you hate scripting no matter how many scripts that you've written every single script seems to take forever to write and the process is excruciating that's why in this video I'm sharing five gamechanging tips that I've learned from writing for million subscriber channels and how you can use them to speed up your script writing process starting with the first tip which is to not script your videos at all wait what most creators will write out scripts in full sentences obsessing over every single word and then they get in front of the camera and teleprompter they read out the words they stumble all over them and it's overall a terrible experience and if they're not used to reading off the teleprompter their eyes look something like this and there's nothing more annoying than watching a YouTube video and noticing that they're using a teleprompter gives you the ick scripting a video doesn't necessarily mean writing it out word for word you want to think of scripting your video as planning your video and an alter ative way to plan a video instead of writing out a full script is to write it out in bullet points you want to list out all the talking points that you want to cover so you'll start out with three main points and then you'll Branch out to even more points and once you've written out as many bullet points as possible and you can visualize the whole flow of the script you can immediately start recording you can see in this script that I write out all of the main points that I want to cover in the screen share so that I don't forget when I'm actually doing the screen share and I put on some annotation so the editor knows where to cut it fully written scripts aren't for everyone and I totally get it what you you want to do is experiment with which scripting style works for you but scripting faster doesn't stop there because the second tip I'm about to share with you is so simple yet also the most overlooked when you've just started writing your own script the hardest thing to script is something you have zero knowledge about because you have to watch all of these YouTube videos and read all of these long form articles and by the end of it you may not even understand the topic which is so frustrating so if you're just getting started scripting your videos script your video about a topic that you're comfortable with the topic should be something that you can talk about for days and days and days the ideas will naturally come and flow to you and before you know it you have written the full script out so instead of sitting Frozen at your computer staring at a blank dog trying to figure out what words you want to use I consult my orange lion and this is the exact same thing that new programmers do and it's called rubber duct debugging where new programmers are encouraged to talk through their programming problems in the absence of a human with a rubber duck or in my case an orange line likewise talking to a duck lion or another human about your video can allow your ideas to flow much more smooth smoly so while I'm talking to my lion I'll take my iPhone and do a voice recording and once I have the voice recording I can put it into AI tools and start transcribing it and feed it into chat gbt so that it puts it into nice paragraphs and you can use your phone to record voice notes when you're going on a walk or you're talking to a friend and you suddenly have an idea pop into your head and you want to do this because there is no worst feeling in the world than going on a walk having a great idea not writing it down going home and just forgetting it totally and once you implement this tip your ideas are no longer stuck in your head and you will have something to work off of and start writing your script and now that you have the topic that you want to talk about nailed down the next tip will save you time during arguably the most timeconsuming part of script writing every single YouTuber that I've talked to asks me this question how long should I spend on research and my answer is always well it kind of depends research can take 5 minutes research can take 2 hours research can also take 12 hours research can feel like you're digging for a treasure chest but you don't know where the treasure chest is and sometimes the treasure chest isn't even there so some creators will just dig infinitely on and on and on and spend hours researching and researching and researching and before they know it they've missed the next upload schedule research can take forever if you let it there will always be a new rabbit hole for you to go down whether you're researching conspiracy theories or figuring out whether the FBI caught the right assassinator but if you want to hit a consistent upload schedule research has to come to an end that's why when I'm researching I set a timer on my iPhone for how long I think a research will take if it's a topic that I'm not familiar with maybe I've never written for it before I will give it 2 hours but if it's a topic on how to script videos 10 times faster and I've been talking to many script writers many YouTubers about how to actually write scripts faster maybe it'll be a 5 to 10 to 15 minute research process because all I have to do is take my conversations outline into a script and hit record and here I am set your research timer for how long you think it will take for you to research the video and if you think it will take you 5 hours to research the video I want you to challenge yourself and only put 2 hours you'll surprise yourself and by the end of the research phase if you find that that there are Parts where you're missing research that's completely okay because after you completed the first draft you can go back and fill in the gaps of research but the difference during the second time of research is that you know exactly what gaps you need to fill and just go out research and fill those gaps and your research time will be cut in half in total so now that we've got the research out of the way we have to start outlining the script which is arguably the most important part of the scripting process I think we can all agree that there is nothing worse than staring at a blank page a blank page is like scrolling Reddit you want to spend as little time on it as possible but thankfully all viral YouTube videos follow a set formula and if we know what elements of viral script has it almost becomes a fill-in the blank exercise when you're writing a script that doesn't mean that every video has to sound the same but a scripting template can cut your scripting time in half this is the template that I use for educational videos for the hook I break it down into three components the first line should immediately confirm the click so that the viewer doesn't think that it's clickbait and the second line is to introduce new narratives or open loops and the third line is to set the expectation for the video telling the viewer what they'll get if they watch from start to finish and then for the body I map out the main parts that I want to talk about so I'll map out 0. 1 Point 2 and 3 and within each point I'll use the why what how framework why being why this is important to the viewer what being what this point is and how is the actionable takeaway for the viewer and then at the very end we have the call to action which is usually for the viewer to click to another video and if you're scripting a documentary the main parts that we want to outline is a tree act structure act one is the setup which gives the viewer context on what's Happening Act two is the conflict or the main climax of the story where there's the most amount of action and there's a lot of tension and act tree is the resolution or the ending of the video this Tria structure is super simple but it works every single time and if it doesn't work you can use the hero's journey structure if you want me to send these templates right to your inbox subscribe to the newsletter down below it's completely free and this last tip I'm about to share with you has been the most impactful throughout my whole strip riding journey I have a confession to make I don't know about you but my life is a mess as YouTubers and business owners we have to think about what video ideas we want to do next we have to manage editors or edit the video ourselves we have to script your next video we have to figure out what the hook is and we are doing multiple things at once I used to switch hats so many times that it feels like my brain is about to explode and if you have asteroid after asteroid hitting you it is hard to have time to breathe writing is about having Clarity and if you cannot think clearly you cannot write effectively so if you're trying to do too many things at once don't if you want to write a script dedicate a blocked out time of the day to write a script for me it's early in the morning where I get no messages or notifications at 5:00 a. m.
where it's just peace it's just me and my computer doing the work and for some of you who are night owls it might be 12:00 a. m.
