we leave you tonight with a mystery solved at the bottom of ler Lake in Northern Ontario for decades people in the small town once home to a major gold mine have talked about and searched for a sunken taxi allegedly filled with treasure ctv's Lydia cheac spoke to the lucky local who made the discovery Jason ploger says he was 10 years old when he first heard stories about a taxi cab on route to or from the mine that fell through the Lakes ice in December 1937 and he decided to search for it I'd say about 35
years since I've been in in high school essentially you hear the stories and as a kid it's it's all about treasure and this and that one day this past summer pler was participating in a fishing tournament when much to his surprise he found it I was just trolling along and I watched my fish finder as always and the the down imager we went straight over top of it and the image was there's no doubt in my mind what it was pler and some fellow divers returned to the location and Dove down about 50 ft in
dark water before locating the 1929 REO Flying Cloud the wheels are still there uh the body is starting to rot out itself the fabric roof is gone um but it's generally it it's good condition considering it's been down on the bottom for 87 years you can see the dash you can see the steering column you can see the the the gear ship is still there while he says no gold was found several bottles of liquor were still intact inside the vehicle the bottle that I tasted was still good alcohol the one that exploded on my
boat it's it would have been a very smooth ride that one pler says he's donated one of the bottles to the Friends of ler Lake and they will auction it off tomorrow night he says he has no plans to remove the vehicle from the lake lyia cheac CV news Timmons
