Why is money so dangerous? Because many of our problems are solved with money. There's even a little joke, actually a story, right?
That the guy was on the train track, walking, and then suddenly his leg got stuck. There, damn, bro, my leg is stuck! Suddenly I saw smoke from the train coming there.
Oh, God, mercy! God, help me! If the Lord delivers me from this here, I will serve in Your house for the rest of my life!
And the train coming: Father, have mercy, save me! God, my life is all Yours, I will give You everything I have. Then, when he was close, the leg came loose.
He said: God, thank you! The leg came loose! See, thanks!
It was n't God who decided, right? When the problem goes away, the guy no longer needs God, right? Why is God so heavy?
Why is Jesus so hard on wealth? The Bible says a lot, right? It talks about the love of money, which is the root of all evil.
Love, not money. He says that it is more difficult for a rich person to enter heaven than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. Because money tends to separate us from God, because we become more independent.
If we take, for example, the parable of the prodigal son, he was there at his father's house, full of money. I'm fine, I have everything here! Hey dad, thanks, great, I thank you, but I'm going to leak because I have the means.
Oh, my inheritance, give my share and I will leak it. I'm going to Jerusalem, I'm going to hang out in Jerusalem, partying, right? Drnk my Heineken and stuff.
I don't know where, I've never been to Jerusalem, but I don't know the name of the neighborhoods there. I'm going there. Then, he went and thought: "With the money, I still generate independence.
I don't need to be here anymore, I can live alone. " When did he want to come back? When he lost everything.
He lost everything, he lost money, he was eating pig food. Wait, in God's house I had everything! I'm going back to my father's house, in case, right?
A parable. Then, he realized that I had everything there, I'm going back there! Because, man, I want to.
In other words, wealth took him away from God, poverty and trouble brought him back. Maybe if he hadn't lost everything, he wouldn't have come back. He would still be in Jerusalem today, he would still be there today, 2000 years ago, right?
It would still be today. The problem tends to make us closer to God, because we need him. We can't solve it.
Exactly! There's a verse there in Proverbs 30, I think the guy says it like this: "God, don't give me too much lest I forget You. " But he also doesn't give me too little so that I don't murmur and say: "Wow, God, what a miserable life!
I don't need to steal. " It's exact! Why is money so dangerous?
Because many of our problems are solved with money, and when we have a lot of money, we need it less, right? Why, madam, so little? Because I don't need him for anything.
It's a great truth, and it's sad, right? Because, we, for starters, right? That's why we often seek God more when we're in trouble than when everything is fine.
Because when everything is fine, everything is fine. I don't need it. And this is very wrong, because we have to have communion with God for who He is and not for what He is giving, which is what we need, right, at all times.
But then, I brought this reflection to the issue of money. There is a brother who jumps out of church because of a car he wanted. No, look, "Ah, I want a car!
I want a car! I want a car! I'm going to bring a bunch of people to the church, turn it full of people, even on the roof to come to the church.
" Then God gives the car, it never appears again. "Oh, thank you God, Lord, but I'm going for a little stroll, I'm going to the mall and stuff. " Then forget about the church, forget about the Lord!
It's worse than when you win, right? That's one of the problems with money. And that's why we have to have a heart very centered on God, very firm in the Word.
Going to church. . .
do you think I'm not tempted by fame? Nowadays , wherever I go, people come up and say, I want to be everywhere. If I don't put it in my devotional, there, my head in the dust, and say, you know, Father, all of this here is Yours!
Now, if I start to leave the Lord, right? So, we have to be careful not to be corrupted by fame, for money, for wealth, because it's a risk, right? But we always have to have our face in the dust, there, in the presence of God, because that is the most important thing of all, right?
It's really cool to see that God has prospered your life, that you have grown financially and that you continue to believe; And that's it, you haven't forgotten the Lord, right? People aren't like that, unfortunately. There are a lot of people who, when they become famous, jump out, right?
That's why God talks a lot about the dangers of money. But, if we look at Hebrews, for example. .
. no, in First Timothy. In the same text that says that the love of money is the root of all evil, there is a part there that talks about advice for those who are rich.
And he does not say: "Oh, whoever is rich is in sin! " No, don't talk! "Whoever is rich has to give everything he has, he has to be poor because I demand a vow of poverty.
" No, it's not in the Bible! There's nothing like that. God said there in Psalms: "Oh, my servant will have such a tomb, he will have to guarantee it there.
" When he died, he looked at it and thought, "Man, I need a rich man here, because this business is expensive. " It was so expensive that Jesus didn't have it, right? Jesus did not have a tomb!
Then he found José: "Hey, José, you who are rich, do this one for God to see! You pay for the tomb there, right? " Take the parable of the good Samaritan, there was no money, right?
The guy was lying there on the floor, just the dust on his tail. Then one passed, he didn't do anything, another passed, the man arrived, the good Samaritan: "Damn, bro, you look bad! Come here, I'm going to buy oil here for you, I'm going to buy perfume, I'm going to buy food.
Now let's go! Oh, let's go to the inn, I'll leave it at the hotel. Oh, owner of the inn, my friend, okay ?
You had money, right? And so many other cases of things in the Bible. So, what am I going to say?
Returning to that first question: why do you want to be rich? What do I think? I even talk about in my book what are the biggest advantages that we can say, benefits of wealth.
First, quality of life. Not in that order necessarily, but the quality of life for you and your family! I don't care what people think of me, I don't care what they think of the car I have.
I don't care about the label on my clothes, which don't even have a brand, these t-shirts that I wear. I don't care! Money, for me, serves to provide quality of life for me and my family: me, my wife, my parents, my in-laws, and to bless my family.
This is fundamental, okay? Because that's what I say. One of the biggest enemies, one of the biggest villains of Brazilians in this area of financial education is ostentation, which is you.
. . sorry, pardon the word, but there's nothing more stupid.
There's a chapter about that; I'll kick the bucket there, look, I'll stick it out. There's nothing more stupid! Pay attention, you, young man, who goes to church, you, girl, who likes expensive things.
There is no stupider way to spend money than to spend money to impress others! Damn, bro, when you turn that key, most people will be getting out of poverty because they're letting themselves care about it. And that's seductive!
Our culture values ostentation, right? So, quality of life for you and your family. Think about your future, don't depend on these things.
It's already more than proven that it's going to be bad down the road! And the main thing, for me, is to overflow. Please overflow!
Want to be a channel of blessing, to be the person who gives the envelope, not the person who receives the miracle. Please be a channel of blessing for this! And I can speak with the greatest joy in the world, man!
This is the best part of what's happening in my life. And I say this: God knows my heart. With all the joy in the world, no preening or anything.
That's the time when God takes away everything he's giving me, everything that's His. Today, my wife and I are helping to support 18 missionaries. We are helping more than five of these organizations, like Open Doors, Borders, Company, NC, you know?
A lot of things. We have helped a lot. Anyway, I'm not going to say everything we do here, but understand: the biggest benefit of enrichment in my life and that of my wife is being able to overflow.
If not, it's not for that, what is it for? Um. .
. just so I can say that I'm the richest guy in the world? My favorite thing is like that guy who prays, prays and doesn't receive because he only prays for you!
Yes, right? That's why you don't get paid. Just pray for your own delight, your own pleasure.
The same thing revolves around money, finances, prosperity. We have to prosper to bless this channel of blessing. So, either we put everything we have in God's hands and say: God, use me!
And that's not a rich man's job, it's a son's job, okay? First Timothy 6:17 and 18, look what God says to those who are rich: "Command those who are rich in this world not to be arrogant and not to put their hope in riches, but in God, who richly provides us with everything for our satisfaction! Command those who are rich to do good, to be rich in good works, generous and ready to share.
This way, they will accumulate a treasure for themselves. No problem ! come and in this way you will reach true life.
" So, what I say is: do you want to be rich? Want to be rich so you can overflow! I want to be rich so that God looks down from heaven and says: "That one has the means, I'm going to use him!
" Please do this and be a participant! Even today, if you are not yet rich, because God works with. .
. in the beginning, God is not impressed by value, He is, right? God admires generosity, like the poor widow's offering.
I ask you: whoever is faithful in a little is also faithful in a lot! And so on. If you are not generous today, as much as possible, don't think that when you get rich you will change.
It won't! You will only increase greed. And the Bible says that greed is idolatry!
Look how heavy this verse is! Having less than you can help, without anything. .
. there will always be, there's always someone more in trouble than you. There's always a chipper one, right?
And today, you can be the one who receives a basic food basket. But you can receive! But you can't be content and accept that!
Man, today I receive a basic food basket, but tomorrow I want to be giving a basic food basket! I want to change, right? I want to turn this thing around, right?
And that's it, right? So, it's okay to be rich, right? There are some prejudices and some beliefs there, you know, that it is a sin.
If you look, Abraham was the richest man of his time, right? If you're going to read it, I think it's Genesis 13, if I'm not mistaken, it says that the creature was so rich that there was a time when he had to move away from Lot, because the entire city was already his! It couldn't fit, the earth couldn't accommodate the creations!
Imagine how much the man didn't have! The father of faith! Yes!
If we go and see, Job. . .
Job is an interesting case too! He was the richest man in the East, and in a good way! When we say East, it is the richest in the world at that time!
There was no Brazil, there was no Bolivia, right? The East was the center of the world! He was the richest man of all and the guy who most pleased God's heart on earth, being the richest.
So, you see how we can reconcile wealth and the fear of God, obedience and holiness, and so many other principles. And look how crazy! He was already the richest guy, God took everything away and then gave twice as much!
In other words, he became the richest guy in the world twice. He was at least twice as tall as the second richest guy in the world, right? Let's take the case of Solomon.
Oh, Solomon. God, I want wisdom! Oh, you want wisdom?
You're the man, Solomon. So why did you ask for wisdom? I'll give you so much more money, son!
I will give you gold, I will give you silver, I will give you carriage, I will give you my word! You will be the richest guy in the universe! God gave it, yes, right?
So, if being rich is a sin, God made Solomon the greatest sinner in the world, which he was the greatest! There are people who have done research, you know, on these businesses, and say that if it were today, Solomon's fortune would be in the trillions category and not millions or billions. He is richer than Jeff Bezos!
He's richer, I'd put him to shame! Come here, boy! Let me teach you what it's like to be rich, right?
Look, the guys say he's better than Solomon! Ah, he has. .
. ah, he said he wrote more books than him, in fact. It really is, right?
Yeah, baby! Solomon is a baby! Pablao, it's me!
Oh, did he say that? And even? Ah, I didn't expect anything else!
He spoke that Solomon is a baby next to him? Man, crazy! I have never sacrificed a child; Solomon sacrificed to Molech because of one of the women he made.
God has called me to do things so far, I am firm in what He has called me to do. Not Solomon. I didn't kill my brother; Solomon killed!
Salomão wrote three books, I wrote 45. Salomão was a baby! Dude, the guys go.
. . the guys go crazy!
Solomon had a jet, Solomon had a helicopter dick! Sal wasn't a baby, stop it! We need to stop worshiping Solomon and a lot of people!
Understand that we too are the image and likeness of the Creator! I'm not doing this to say that I'm better than anyone! I'm just telling you that Solomon passed by here on earth 3,000 years ago, and you're still paying the guy who passed by 3,000 years ago?
! Marsal, that's a sin! What are you doing, young man?
Every time I take off, if I see the most important person on Earth, I say: "Be silent now, because this is my Solomonic declaration! " As the plane leaves the ground, I say : "Oh, not even Solomon, in all his glory, flew in a jet! " I do this every time!
But you are devaluing Solomon! Solomon was not a young man! I'm not even going to comment on the things I would like here, but anyway, God bless you and don't abandon me, right?
So, you get Solomon, man! Solomon has a verse in Chronicles that says that his kingdom had so much gold, so much gold that the silver was worthless! You're welcome!
Silver has lost its value! Yeah, man, that's crazy, right? And he was a guy who later had his troubles, but God gave him wealth!
Then the person, oh, but it was God who gave it! Yes, God is giving mine too! Ours is God who is giving!
Yours too. It will be. .
. It is God who gives, poverty and wealth! Everything comes from Him, right?
Yeah, guys, post it here in the comments: did you like it? Give it a like! I hope you liked it!
