Have you ever felt like you're trying so hard to change your life, but somehow nothing really changes? You pray. You promise yourself you'll do better.
You try to be stronger, more disciplined, more [music] faithful. And yet, deep down something still feels off. You're tired, spiritually drained, like you're running as hard as you can, but somehow you're still standing in the same place.
Maybe you're exhausted from fighting the same battles over and over again. The same [music] fears, the same anxiety, the same disappointments. Maybe you're tired of asking God for the same breakthrough and wondering why you still feel [music] stuck.
Or maybe, if you're honest, you feel spiritually empty. Not because you don't believe in God. >> [music] >> Not because you stopped caring.
But because something inside you feels disconnected. And what if I told you the problem isn't that you're [music] failing? What if the real problem is that you've been fighting the wrong battle?
Because there's something Jesus said that completely changes how we think about spiritual [music] growth, peace, strength, and transformation. And honestly, most people miss it. We live in a world that tells us, "Try harder.
[music] Push more. Fix yourself. Do better.
" But Jesus offers a completely different invitation. An invitation that could change everything. And it all centers around one simple word, "Abide.
" Or in other words, >> [music] >> "Remain in me. " In John chapter 15, only hours before the cross, >> [music] >> Jesus gives his disciples one of the most powerful teachings in all of scripture. [music] And maybe this is the exact message your soul needs to hear today.
Because by the end of this video, you're [music] going to understand why so many people feel spiritually exhausted, why peace feels so [music] hard to hold on to, and how to experience a kind of strength, joy, and closeness [music] with God that doesn't disappear when life gets difficult. It all begins when you understand one [music] powerful truth. You were never meant to carry life on your own.
You were created to stay [music] connected to the source. And once you understand that, everything begins to [music] change. Imagine two people.
Both of them want the exact same thing. A meaningful life, peace, purpose, >> [music] >> a strong faith, a life that actually feels stable. The first person wakes up every day carrying [music] the weight of everything on their shoulders.
They work harder, push harder, try harder. They make plans, set goals, read books, listen to podcasts, [music] do everything they can to improve themselves. But underneath all the effort, they're exhausted because deep down, they feel like everything depends on them.
>> [music] >> If they stop pushing, everything falls apart. If they fail, they blame themselves. And even when things go right, they still feel anxious, still afraid, [music] still tired.
Now, imagine another person. They go through struggles, too. >> [music] >> Life isn't perfect for them, either.
They face disappointment, stress, uncertainty. >> [music] >> But somehow, there's something different about them. A calmness, a steadiness, a peace that doesn't make [music] sense.
They aren't constantly panicking. They aren't overwhelmed by every problem. [music] And if you ask them their secret, they probably wouldn't hand you a productivity system or some life [music] hack.
They'd tell you something much deeper. The difference isn't how hard they're trying. The difference is who they're connected [music] to.
One person is trying to generate their own strength. The other has learned how to receive strength. >> [music] >> And this is exactly where Jesus meets us in John chapter 15.
To truly understand this teaching, we have to understand the moment Jesus said [music] it. This wasn't just another sermon. This wasn't a random lesson during a peaceful afternoon.
The atmosphere was heavy, tense, emotional. Jesus was [music] only hours away from the cross. He knew suffering was coming.
He knew betrayal was coming. He knew his disciples were about to face fear, confusion, and heartbreak. Think about this for a second.
If you knew you only had a few hours left with the people you loved most, what would you say? >> [music] >> You wouldn't waste time talking about meaningless things. You would give them what matters most.
You would leave them with the truth they [music] absolutely needed to remember. And that's exactly what Jesus does. But notice something surprising.
He doesn't tell them, "Try harder. Work more. [music] Become stronger.
Push yourself harder spiritually. " No. Instead, he says something completely unexpected.
In John 15:5, Jesus says, "I'm the vine. You are the branches. " [music] And then he says something even more powerful.
"Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from [music] me, you can do nothing. " Let that sink in. Apart from me, you could do nothing.
Not a few things. Not less. Nothing.
That changes everything because Jesus is showing us something most of us never learned. The Christian life [music] was never meant to be powered by human effort. It was always meant to be powered by connection.
Jesus uses an image so simple that even a child can understand it. But at the same time, [music] it's so deep that people spend their entire lives learning what it truly means. He says, "I am the vine.
You are the branches. " Let's slow down and really think about [music] that. The vine is the source.
It carries the life, the nutrients, the water, the strength. Everything the branch needs comes from the vine. The branch The branch doesn't create life.
It receives life. And here's the part most people miss. A branch never struggles to produce fruit.
Think about [music] that. Have you ever seen a grapevine stressed out? Have you ever seen a branch panicking because it's not producing fruit [music] fast enough?
Of course not. The branch doesn't wake up every morning saying, >> [music] >> "I need to work harder. I need to force this.
I need to make fruit happen. " No, the [music] branch simply stays connected and because it stays connected, fruit naturally [music] appears. That changes everything about how we think about spiritual growth.
Because so many of us are exhausted [music] trying to manufacture things only God can produce. We try to manufacture peace. We try to force joy.
We try [music] to create patience. We try to become stronger through pure willpower. But Jesus never [music] said, "Force fruit.
" He said, "Abide. Remain. Stay connected.
" Because fruit [music] is not produced through pressure. It grows through connection. Maybe the reason you feel spiritually tired isn't because you're lazy.
Maybe [music] it's because you've been trying to be the vine when you were only ever meant to be the branch. The word abide simply means to remain, to stay, to dwell, to continue with. This is not about visiting Jesus once in a while.
It's about living connected to him. Let me explain it like this. >> [music] >> Think about the difference between a tourist and someone who actually lives somewhere.
A tourist visits. They stop by for a short time, [music] take pictures, experience the moment, and then leave. But someone who lives there, that place becomes [music] home.
And honestly, a lot of us treat God like a tourist destination. [music] We visit him on Sundays. We check in when life falls apart.
We pray harder [music] during emergencies. But once things calm down, we disconnect. Yet Jesus never called us to visit him.
He called us to remain, to stay, to live connected. Think about your phone for a second. [music] The moment you unplug it from the charger, it doesn't instantly die.
It still works. You can text, scroll, watch videos, answer calls, but something has already started. The battery is draining [music] slowly, quietly, almost invisibly, and maybe that's exactly what's been happening in your spiritual life.
[music] You still look okay. You still go to church. You still believe.
You still pray sometimes, but internally you're drained. >> [music] >> You're anxious, easily frustrated, emotionally exhausted, spiritually dry, and maybe the issue isn't [music] that you're failing. Maybe the issue is that you've been trying to live today on yesterday's connection.
You're trying to survive life on a dying battery, [music] and Jesus is saying, "Come back to the source. Reconnect. [music] Remain, because you don't need more pressure.
You need more presence. " When we stop abiding, our soul [music] starts sending signals. Just like a car dashboard warns you when something needs [music] attention.
Your soul warns you, too, and maybe lately you've been ignoring the signs. Here are some of the biggest signs of spiritual disconnection. One, constant exhaustion.
You wake up tired. You go to sleep tired, and somehow, even after resting, you still feel drained. Not physically, deeply, like your soul is carrying too much.
>> [music] >> Two, anxiety and pressure. You feel like everything depends on you. >> [music] >> You have to fix everything, control everything, figure everything out, and honestly, that pressure is crushing you.
Three, inner emptiness. You accomplish [music] things, reach goals, stay busy, but somehow, nothing feels satisfying anymore. Nothing feels full.
Nothing lasts. Four, endless striving. You keep pushing harder, trying more, doing more, yet somehow, it feels like you're getting nowhere.
Listen carefully. These feelings are not necessarily proof that you're a bad Christian. They're not proof that God abandoned you.
Sometimes, they're simply signs that your soul is disconnected [music] from the source because your soul was never created to carry [music] life alone. You were never meant to be your own source of strength. You were made for dependence, and that's not weakness.
That's design. Here's where so many people get stuck. When we notice problems in our lives, we immediately switch into self-improvement mode.
We think, "I need to pray longer. I need to read more. >> [music] >> I need to try harder.
I need more discipline. " And while those things matter, Jesus never told the branch to try harder. Think about that.
[music] He never said, "Work harder to produce fruit. Stress more. Push [music] harder.
" No, he said, "Abide in me. " Because trying harder without connection is exhausting. [music] It's like trying to turn on a lamp by polishing the light bulb while it's still unplugged.
You can polish it all day. You can work until your hands hurt. But without power, there's no light.
[music] And some of us are exhausted because we've been polishing the bulb instead of plugging [music] it in. You're trying to create peace, trying to create joy, trying to force spiritual growth. >> [music] >> When what Jesus really wants is relationship, connection, dependence.
The growth you're chasing isn't a reward for exhausting yourself. >> [music] >> It's a natural result of staying close to him. The fruit comes from connection, not pressure.
So now the big question becomes, how do you actually abide in Christ? What does that look like in everyday life? Because abiding isn't just some spiritual idea.
It's practical, >> [music] >> real, daily. Here are a few simple ways. One, stay in his word.
Jesus said in John 15:7, [music] "If you abide in me and my words abide in you, God's word reshapes your [music] thinking. It changes your perspective. Instead of letting fear define you, you let truth define [music] you.
Instead of believing every anxious thought, you remember what God says. Before reacting emotionally, pause. Ask yourself, what is true according to God?
Two, turn prayer into relationship. [music] Prayer is not just a scheduled event. It's connection.
Talk to God throughout your day. Drving to work, washing dishes, walking into a [music] stressful meeting, sitting in silence. Prayer doesn't always have a sound formal.
Sometimes it's simply, Lord, [music] I need you. God, help me right now. Thank you for being here.
That's abiding. Staying aware of his presence. Three, walk in obedience.
Obedience is not about earning God's love. You already have his love. Obedience keeps you aligned with him.
It protects your heart, guides your steps, keeps you close. Not because [music] God is controlling you, but because he loves you. Four, remember that you are loved.
This is huge. Many people live exhausted because they're trying to earn what Jesus already gave them. >> [music] >> Acceptance, love, belonging.
You don't abide through performance. You abide through relationship. You're already invited, already welcomed, already loved.
And sometimes, the most spiritual thing you can do >> [music] >> is simply rest in that truth. If this message spoke to your heart today, leave a comment below. Lord, [music] teach me to abide.
And if you know someone who feels exhausted, anxious, [music] or spiritually tired, share this video with them.
