hello there my name is Tyler Griffin and this is scripture study insights by scripture Central today Moroni chapter 10 thus we we come to the last chapter the concluding words of this incredible book and uh what an adventure it is I have read this book dozens if not hundreds of times and and the more I read it the more I love it the more I love the Lord the more I have desires to to read it more deeply more broadly and to keep reading it again and again as we as we open and introduce this
chapter it it's this beautiful opportunity for us to remember and reflect upon the journey which we've made for some of us many times and for others for the first time through this incredible book another Testament of Jesus Christ and uh as we close out this particular year of come follow me curriculum and look to the the new year with the Doctrine and Covenants coming up it's a beautiful opportunity for us to to wrap things up and tie a bow on these incredible teachings from this year you'll notice by the way that Moroni 10 is one
of the most common chapters used by missionaries as they preach the gospel now some might find that a little strange that missionaries go out and they introduce the Book of Mormon to people and then they instantly turn to the very last chapter to invite the people that they're teaching to to read the book and to ponder its teachings and then to pray about it it's it's a beautiful pattern actually if you consider for a little object lesson if you're a teacher or a parent you could go and get a a boxed cake mix and you
could bring it to your class or to your family scripture study and ask them to describe the cake based on looking at the picture of the cake on the front of the box and what they would expect the cake to look like when it's when it's baked when it's complete and then you could open up the cake box and look at the the flour and the other ingredients that are inside and say well here it is do you want to eat it like this and give them a spoon and of course they're not going to
want to and then you can ask them well how do we get it to go from here this this powdery flour substance to look like what it shows on the front of the box and they will say well you have to follow the recipe you have to follow the instructions and you say well where are the instructions and then by turning the box to the back you can find the the baking instructions the recipe and then if you're in a family setting you can actually go and make the cake together letting the children follow those
instructions or if you're in a church setting you can bring a a pre-made cake to show them that you followed the instructions and here's here's what is what what the result is brothers and sisters Moroni chapter 10 is very much like those instructions on the back of the cake box there are a lot of incredible ingredients in this book but we have to follow the Lord's instructions for how to unlock the the wonderful flavor and The Taste and the look uh uh the directions given to us in this book we have to follow the instructions
and we turn the book to the very back of the box so to speak the the last chapter contains this beautiful formula for us to be able able to to make better sense of everything that we've read and everything that we've studied now in reality this is a this is a powerful reminder that this doesn't need to be a one-time event our son Jarrett is serving his mission right now down in sou Theo Mexico in the the state of quaa and when he started his mission in the city of Monclova he he met this woman
and her family and they shared the Book of Mormon and they shared that promise and she started reading the book with her family but she didn't wait till she got to the end to apply moroni's invitation Jarrett said that she did it repeatedly through the process of reading through the book with her family so that it her testimony grew by trickle irrigation rather than a flash flood at the end now sometimes this is a an event for some people and for others in fact maybe for for many of us it's more of an unfolding process
just because I've done this before doesn't mean that God can't take my testimony to an even higher level if I continually follow this this process so that's our introduction to this this last chapter as we dive in and we'll get more into more specifics in in verse three four and five as we get into the text but the the beautiful closure of this book to me really is the recipe or the instructions on the back of a cake mix to to teach us what we can do what step we can follow in order to unlock
the more potential that is sitting in this incredible book my favorite book of all time so with that let's dive in he starts chapter 10 by saying now I Moroni write somewhat as Seth me good and I write unto my brethren the lamanites like father like son if you go back to Mormon's final chapter in Mormon 7 you see him also addressing his Brethren the lamanites which at the time happens to be the enemy but they're reflecting this Christlike charity and he he says I would that they should know that more than 420 years have
passed away since the sign was given of the coming of Christ we don't know how old morona is but we know that the last battle battle at kamora happened 36 years before this because here we are at the year uh 421 roughly ad and the last battle happened at 385 so you have to add 36 years to however old he was at the last battle and he was one of the captains of of 10,000 men at that battle so he would have been an adult probably so we don't know his exact age but he knows
that he's at the end this is his final farewell and he says I seal up these records after I have spoken a few words by way of exhortation unto you this is a a beautiful principle he knows that he's leaving he knows that this is his last interaction with readers of this book in the latter days and so he's going to try to encourage and activate and motivate appropriate use of agency for us the Latter-Day readers to now move forward and and continue to progress on that Covenant path I love the fact that he uses
a a repeat word in this chapter that is very significant he says I'm going to speak speak by way of exhortation to you the word exhort comes from the Latin exhortar which X means thoroughly nearly completely um and hortari is to encourage so it's to thoroughly encourage this is much more than just a a gentle nudge or a simple invitation an exhortation is more of a pleading this is an I urge you and if you look at our prophets today it's beautiful to watch when they go into language of exhortation they don't usually use the
word I exhort you today in in Modern English they are more likely to use words like I plead with you or I urge you you could do a word search on on our prophets and apostles the way they use those those similar words and then pay attention to what those invitations are in this case you have eight of these exhortations that come in the closing chapter now I don't know if there's if there was intent by Moroni in giving us eight you would think that it would have been a better number to use seven because
in a Hebrew symbolic cultural context seven is that perfect number that represents a completion a wholeness a perfectness lacking nothing uh for for per Perfection but he used eight eight whether he meant to or not eight is a beautifully symbolic number as well because in that Hebrew context seven completes one perfect cycle the seven days of creation the seven days of a week eight then becomes symbolic of a new beginning start a cycle again repeat what has just been completed so we see eight show up in a variety of ways you get the age of
eight being the the time that God has designated when children can first be baptized and have a new beginning a rebirth birth a spiritual rebirth where they can be buried and resurrected symbolically in the baptismal Fund in the water and begin a new life you get Peter talking about eight people preserved on the Ark of Noah it's a new beginning for the family of of mankind so in this case you would say wait a minute eight a new beginning in the last chapter of the book to me whether Mormon intended this or not one of
the the symbolic messages to me is this isn't intended to be the end yes it's the end of one cycle through the book but the end then perfectly wraps around and becomes the beginning of a new Journey but I don't do it the exact same way as I did it this last time I go through again with a deeper understanding I bring all that knowledge and those experiences that I've gained this last time through and I start going through it again it's a new beginning and so it just becomes this beautifully um ascending spiral staircase
of knowledge of wisdom of connection with God of of understanding of his plan and his love and his Mercy and his Justice and judgment and all of the amazing things that he's unfolding on the Earth today so as we close this year of lessons in the Book of Mormon I think moroni's wish is that this doesn't become a one anddone experience that this isn't an event but much like Veronica in in Jarrett's Mission down in Mexico that it becomes another step in a long process of discipleship as we move forward um the new hym book
that we have I I love so many of the hymns um one that I wanted to to Showcase today is actually the hymn number 104 I will walk with Jesus to me this hymn perfectly encapsulates the message the theme the the overview of moroni's life and especially here moroni's concluding chapter in his incredible uh work in the Book of Mormon listen to these words in the context of you and your loved ones and me and all of us individually and collectively striving to move forward in our faith Jesus walked in wisdom Jesus grew true in
truth he showed love to God and man while in his youth Jesus wants to guide me Jesus shows the way calling me to come and walk with him Each Day verse two I can grow like Jesus I will try each day promising to walk his path and there to stay standing by my savior safe within his care step by step I'll follow and his love I'll sh share we'll come back to this song uh a little later so let's jump in now as we strive to walk with Jesus knowing that we can be in his
in his loving Embrace his constant care along this path and let's look at chapter 10 through the lenses of these eight exhortations so we're going to list these out the first one is in verse three now let's look closely to to figure out what this um thorough invitation this this deep encouragement is what what is Moroni actually asking us to do what are the what are the action words here he says behold I would exort you that when you shall read these things if it be wisdom in God that you should read them notice that
if it be wisdom in God that you should read them is more of a parenthetical statement and you'll also notice for clarification he didn't say in verse three I would exhort you to read these things we're in the last chapter moroni's assumption is that you've read them so when ye shall read these things if it be wisdom in God that you should read them that ye would remember so the first real uh thorough invitation or or pleading encouragement is that we remember after we've read these things that we remember and what is it that he's
inviting you to remember remember how merciful the Lord has been unto the children of men from the creation of Adam even down until the time that you shall receive these things and ponder it in your hearts so the second kind of aspect of this first exhortation is to remember God's mercy not just in ancient times with Adam and Enoch and Noah and Abraham and all their people and all those experiences in the Old Testament and not just in the New Testament or even the Book of Mormon but all the way up until the time that
you shall receive these things and he says and ponder it in your hearts he didn't say Ponder these words necessarily he said ponder it so the it could refer to the Book of Mormon it could refer to scripture the words of the prophets but it could also refer back to or hearken back to a different antecedent which could be God's mercy how merciful the Lord hath been ponder it ponder that because Nephi started the book telling us in chapter one of first Nephi that he would show unto you that The Tender Mercies of the Lord
Are Over All Those whom he hath chosen so it's this beautiful book end to the entire Book of Mormon front chapter last chapter helping us to remember and Ponder how good how kind how gracious and compassionate our God is it's a beautiful place to start in these exhortations pondering God's mercy then you get to verse four so the second exhortation is and when ye shall receive these things this this book that he's writing I would exhort you that you would ask God so his second exhortation is for us after we've remembered God mercy and his
kindness which perfectly sets the stage for verse four if you've pondered how kind and compassionate God is and loving he is you're more likely to go to him in confidence in faith that he will look at you in loving kindness that he will RE reply to your request and what is your request I would exort you that you would ask God the Eternal Father in the Name of Christ if these things are not true if the book isn't true and all the things contain in the book including God's mercy ask him if these things are
not true and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart now he gives three things here a sincere heart real intent having faith in Christ he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost this is such a profound promise he doesn't say he might for he doesn't give a percentage now x per of you who ask this are going to get an answer he he gives a sure promise what he doesn't give is a guarantee of when or how God is going to manifest the truth of this unto
you there are some of you perhaps who are watching who are thinking to yourself but brother Griffin I have done this and I haven't felt anything I haven't heard that Heavenly voice speaking to me I haven't seen a light from above I haven't even felt anything in my in my heart or or any any emotions that would be classified as an answer so what do I do it's a really good question and there are plenty of examples in the scriptures of people who work through the process of time to develop a testimony or to receive
an answer and it doesn't come for many in fact I would say for most the very first time that they they seek something from Heaven you get some examples like John chapter 3 Nicodemus comes to Jesus by night they have a very meaningful and profound and deep conversation and Nicodemus goes away pondering and wondering and he's wrestling but he doesn't have all the answers yet and we don't know exactly Nicodemus is timeline but we know that three years later when Jesus Christ is crucified in the Book of John the Gospel of John Nicodemus is there
side by side with Joseph of arthea to help remove the body of Christ from the cross and hurriedly wrap it and put it in in Joseph of ARA's tomb so we know that somewhere in that three-year period Nicodemus has now become fully converted to the Lord whereas if you turn one chapter later in John's gospel John chapter 4 you see the woman at the well who in a matter of maybe five minutes 10 minutes at the very most she seems to go from completely the nonrecognition of Jesus as the Messiah to running into the city
to Proclaim him as the promised Christ that would come and it was very quick for her and for some we have to wait and we have to keep seeking and keep studying and keep asking and knocking and not treating it as if it's a matter of push a button fill the spirit but rather rather push myself and trust the Lord to know when the right time the right setting and the right answer is going to be given so he says here verse five by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of
all things so the promise is sure what isn't sure is my ability to apply all of the principles in verse four so if I'm not getting an answer I need to go back and keep working on the sincerity of my heart the reality of my intent and the faithfulness I have to Christ my faith in Christ and I keep working on those things trusting that God will manifest himself unto me the truth of this work according to his time and according to his will and then he goes on to say in verse six whatsoever thing
is good is just and true wherefore nothing that is good denieth the Christ but acknowledgeth that he is back to our cake analogy you could bake two separate cakes for a fun object lesson and one you could perfectly follow the instructions on the back and the other you could completely ignore the instructions on the back you could add other ingredients you could add add other elements into that cake batter that aren't called for and then bake both of them up and have your family or your students discuss why one tastes really good and why one
didn't turn out and what was wrong with it and how do we how do we prevent that from happening again we need to follow the Lord's instructions as he gives them to us through His prophets not just in Antiquity but from our current prophets Sears and revelators today the instructions when followed result in doctrine that tastes good over time it might not taste good at every phase of the cooking or baking process but if we trust it and if we follow those instructions to the end the result at the end will be sweet it will
taste good that promise is sure now we come to exhortation number three it starts in verse 7 and ye may know that he is by the power of the Holy Ghost wherefore I would exort you that you deny not the power of God so his exhortation is not a in a what you would call a positive direction it's to prevent us from going in a negative Direction don't deny the power of God now let's look at the the little reasoning he gives here for he worketh by power according to the faith of the children of
men the same today and tomorrow and forever he just gave us the first two exhortations and he follows it up with this one to say don't deny the power of God don't say no God can't do this for me or no God can't do that for for other people he can and he will and he has and he will continue to do that because he is the same today and tomorrow and forever I've mentioned before that I love marking the characteristics and attributes of God in my scriptures in dark green because one of my Institute
teachers Jerry Wilson uh made that invitation I've followed it ever since and it has been such a blessing in my life so that verse is splashed with dark green because God God is the same today and tomorrow and forever he will follow through on these promises which now leads us to promise number or exhortation rather number four it starts in verse eight and again I exhort you my brethren that ye deny not here's another deny don't deny but in this case the first time it was the power of God and this time it's don't deny
the gifts of God the things that God is willing to give don't turn your back and and stiff arm those gifts he says for they are many and they come from the same God and there are different ways that these gifts are administered but it is the same God who worketh all in all and they are given by the manifestation of the spirit of God unto men to profit them our God is is a giver of gifts The Giver of the best gifts he gave us his gift of love his only begotten son and Jesus
Christ like his father like our father is a giver of gifts he gave his life he gave his love he gives his Mercy he shares his power he shares his knowledge he shares his authority with us all of these incredible gifts you're going to see as they come out here they aren't just randomly packaged presents they are attributes and characteristics of God that are shared with us his children so look at the list for behold to one is given by the spirit of God that he may teach the word of wisdom so to teach wisdom
look at the related second one and to another that he may teach the word of knowledge by the same spirit before we go any further into this list I need to mention that a human tendency for whatever reason I don't know why it is this way but we have this this natural man tendency Natural Woman tendency to look around and compare ourselves to other people and there are many times when what we do is we compare a a perceived weakness in our s with the strength in another person which creates this feeling of inferiority and
this feeling of Despair for some people or a feeling of panic like I I'm never going to be as good as her I'm never going to be as intelligent as him I'm never going to be as capable as they are and and it creates this this unhealthy comparison I love the fact that these gifts are given individually and spread broadcast across the Human family so that I don't need to feel threatened if somebody has one gift and I don't have an abundance of that gift but I can Delight in the fact that that person has
the gift and tap into it benefit from it uh glory in the fact that God is so good to give that gift to us collectively through that person person that is in your circle of influence and you can be blessed by it instead of feeling threatened by it or compared with it there's nothing inappropriate about seeking all of these best gifts but as long as we do it in a manner of Lord thy will not mine be done we can't demand that God gives us a gift but we can live our life in such a
way that we seek them we ask for them and if God grants them wonderful and if he doesn't but if not we will still love him and we will still celebrate that gift in other people you look at verse 11 some are given exceedingly great faith so you might go to a sacr meeting and hear somebody get up and give a testimony or share a talk or sh share a lesson and think man she has so much faith I'm not as good as she is but instead recognize that's a gift of God that he has
given to her an attribute of godliness that is now being manifest and shined forth in this classroom or in this Ward or Branch or stake what a wonderful blessing it is to celebrate that gift and to another the gifts of healing and again to another that he may work Mighty Miracles and again to another that he may prophesy concerning all things and to another beholding of angels and ministering spirits there are many cultures in the world who have an abundance of that gift of being able to see and they they they live so close to
the to the veil that they they have dreams and visions and manifestations and it's such a beautiful thing to hear these stories and to to see how God is manifesting himself unto them and if he doesn't do the same to me it's okay because instead of denying the gifts of God I can count my many blessings and be grateful for what he has given me and he goes on to then say again to another all kinds of tongues and again to another the interpretation of languages and of diverse kinds of tongues I have friends and
colleagues who they are just incredible when it comes to foreign language and I have a hard time memorizing simple vocabulary in words and and retaining even the Portuguese that I learned down in Brazil and it's okay if I don't have that gift in abundance because I know a lot of people who do and I am so blessed by their gift it says and all these gifts come by the spirit of Christ and they come unto every man what percentage that's 100% you have a gift uh a great exercise might be in a family setting to
allow family members to share insights of each of the other family members of what they have noticed comes naturally to that member of your family what they're able to just do without hardly even trying they're just good at it and it's a manifestation of God's gifts and power given to that family member sometimes that helps activate people to move forward with greater faith when other people recognize or acknowledge God's gifts that are given to them because often it's hard to see those gifts in oneself so whatever we can do to search our patriarchal blessing and
to get the counsel of wise people and loved ones about what gifts they recognize in US it can then help us perhaps move forward to use those gifts as a blessing instead of hiding those gifts under a bushel uh to use the savior's analogy so that brings us to his next exhortation number five it's in verse 18 and this is the shortest one and I would exhort you my beloved Brethren that ye remember that every good gift cometh of Christ we don't generate these abilities we don't generate wisdom healing Miracles power Revelation prophecy speaking in
tongues we don't do that on our own this becomes an attribute of Christ that is given to us by the Lord and is is Manifest uh through our actions so the verb here is to remember that every good gift Cometh From Christ very short very simple which brings us to exhortation number six in verse 19 and I would exhort you my beloved Brethren that ye remember so this one has to do with gifts coming from Christ and this one says remember that he is the same yesterday today and forever and that all these gifts of
which I've spoken which are spiritual never will be done away remember God is the same now someone would say wait a minute I thought God uh changes in in you look at the Life of Christ he Jesus was God he was born and then he grew and he progressed I don't think that when we use this phrase God changes not or back in verse 7 he's the same today and tomorrow and forever I don't think we're talking about the totality of everything that makes up Jesus Christ or heavenly father I think what we're talking about
is the core that deepest rooted element of godliness that changes not but Jesus Christ did change he grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and with man Luke 2 tells us Jesus changed but his godliness didn't change his Perfection didn't change his development um in mortality changed so he goes on to say he he gives a nod to his father's talk back in Maron 7 in verse 21 he says wherefore there must be faith and if there must be Faith there must also be hope and if there must be hope there
must also be charity so faith hope and charity and then he describes a little bit more about those and if you don't have hope hope then what do you have instead you have Despair and he says in verse 22 despair cometh because of iniquity because we've turned away from God we've denied either the gifts of Christ or we've denied God's um willingness to do the same things and give the same blessings to us as he's given to the people in the past and so he says woe be unto the children of men if this be
the case if if unbelief and iniquity have led to this despair woe be unto the children of men now that brings us to our seventh our our second to last exhortation it's in verse 27 and I exhort you to remember these things for the time speedily cometh that you shall know that I lie not he's asking us to remember these things did you catch the three exhortation in a row are remembering like the very first exhortation was so this is the fourth of eight half of his of his thorough encouragements his pleading urgings have to
do with us remembering the past or remembering something that has already occurred to then help us in the present to face the future and move forward Ward and here he is right at the end of his life finishing up the book and he's saying remember that these things are going to come to pass I lie not I'm not deceiving you you will see me at the bar of God he makes that promise we will see him at the bar of God and there he says the Lord God will say unto you did I not declare
my words unto you which were written by this man like as one crying from the dead yet even as one Speaking Out of the Dust I spoke to you through the words of this man I declare these things unto the fulfilling of the prophecies and behold they shall proceed forth out of the mouth of the Everlasting God morona is promising and Jesus Christ told us that he will never let the words of His prophets go unfulfilled you can guarantee that this is going to happen someday and he says verse 29 God shall show unto you
that that which I have written is true so he's bearing his testimony but he's saying far more important than you taking my word is my guarantee that the day will come when God will give you his word that these things are true and that you had them which brings us now to the final exhortation starting in verse 30 down finishing with verse 34 he says and again I would exhort you that you would come unto Christ so the verbs here the first one is come unto Christ and then he says lay hold upon every good
gift touch not the evil gift nor the unclean thing so you could just keep adding all of these verbs all of these invitations to this final list this is his last one he's ready to conclude the entire record final exhortation come unto Christ lay hold on every good gift touch not the evil gift awake and arise from the dust that should sound really familiar you've seen that verse before in the Book of Mormon you've seen it in the Old Testament that's Isaiah 52 verse 1 and two that he's starting to quote here awake and arise
from the dust oh Jerusalem yay and put on thy beautiful garments oh Daughter of Zion and strengthen thy stakes and enlarge the Border thy borders forever that thou mayest no more be confounded that the covenants of the Eternal Father which he hath made unto thee Oh House of Israel may be fulfilled amazing promises in there and amazing invitations and pleadings and urgings from Moroni and now leaving Isaiah 52 and and coming down the home stretch for Moroni he says yay come unto Christ which is a repeat from over there in verse 30 and be perfected
in him I love the order of operations there he doesn't say perfect yourself and then come and present yourself to Christ that's impossible nobody can do that the only way we can hope for Perfection is in Christ and through Christ and by Christ that's it come unto Christ and be perfected in him and some of you might be thinking right now oh that sounds so good that sounds so lofty as an ideal I would love that but I can't because I'm not good enough or I'm too sinful or I'm too weak or I'm not gifted
enough brothers and sisters this invitation from ronai is to the whole world and it doesn't matter where you are it doesn't matter what your life situation is it doesn't matter what you've done or what you haven't done what matters is Right Here Right Now activating your agency saying I will walk with Jesus I will awake and I will arise from the dust I will put on the beautiful garments that Jesus Christ offers me through these Covenant connections I will move forward with him I will come unto him which means I start thinking about him more
I pray to Heavenly Father in his name more I involve God in my life more I literally say what would thou have me do here's my life I give it to you you don't have to take it away from me because it's yours it's not beautiful it's far from perfect but it's all I've got and I give it to you so take it and seal it and shape it and mold it and please forgive it and please Empower it and Infuse it with these gifts of the Spirit help me to move forward with greater power
than ever before to come closer to Christ that invitation is available to everybody and it doesn't matter where you are or what you've been doing I love this he says if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness and love God with all your might mind and strength then is his grace sufficient for you that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ and if by the grace of God you are perfect in Christ you can in no wise deny the power of God as we look back at this list you're seeing a lot of
repeats denying not the power of God was that third exhortation this all of this remembering and asking God and trusting God that this is probably for for the vast majority of us this is going to be a lifelong process not an event that occurs today but along this long drawn out process there are events that occur that are sweet that are Tender Mercies of the Lord that we can recognize as his power and of his love in our life so this this incredible book closes with this verse 33 and 34 and again if ye by
the grace of God are perfect in Christ notice it's not because of your goodness that you're going to be perfect in Christ it's not because you've got things figured out it's because of his goodness it's because he's got things figured out I don't work my way into heaven brothers and sisters I strive to come unto Christ I work my way towards Christ I love him and he says if you love me keep my Commandments do the things which you have seen me do he says that's the path that's it I connect with him in covenants
and then I deepen those Covenant connections by making more covenants with him and keeping them to the best of my ability and repenting when I don't and he says then are ye Sanctified in Christ by the grace of God through the shedding of the blood of Christ which is the Covenant of the father under the remission of your sins that you become holy without spot again I don't work my way to heaven I work my way to Christ to enter into the Embrace that he offers he is the one who gets me to Heaven he's
the one who makes me Heavenly it's not me who does that and now I bid unto all farewell I soon go to rest in the paradise of God until my spirit and body shall again reunite and I am brought forth triumphant through the air to meet you before the pleasing bar of the great Jehovah the Eternal judge of both quick and dead amen something fascinating that just happened right there is Moroni invoked the name in the Old Testament that you don't say out loud the Unspeakable name Jehovah or Yahweh this name Jehovah only appears two
times in the Book of Mormon right here in the last sentence and in secondi chap 22 verse 2 quick background here the name Jehovah was uh coined or made up by William tindel when he was translating the Bible by taking the four letters YH wh the what is known as the tetr Graton if you want to look it up and and study more about this yah and he put the vowel sounds from Adonai which means the Lord in Hebrew in between those consonants to make Jehovah or yahovah and so this name is just made up
but in the Old Testament Yahweh that name the name of God was only to be spoken by the high priest one time a year in the holy of holies when he was in the symbolic presence of God and that would happen on the 10th day of the seventh month which is Yum kapor it's the day of atonement it's the only time that it was allowed to be spoken and here at the closing of this incredible book he invokes that Holy Name from that Hebrew uh Old Testament context to seal this book as he promises that
he will meet us before the pleasing bar of the great Jehovah the Eternal judge of both quick and dead amen so as we conclude this 10th and final chapter of moroni's book and the Final Chapter 531 pages of this incredible book of scripture listen to these words of the third verse in the chorus I will trust in Jesus I will hear his call he will never leave me even when I fall Jesus gives me power lifts and comforts me helping me to live and grow eternally as I walk with Jesus to my home above he
will bless me with his spirit and fill me with his love change my heart forever and help me clearly see I will walk with Jesus he will walk with me that's the promise of that's the promise of our living prophets we will walk with Jesus and Miracle of Miracles he the creator of Worlds Without number will actually walk with me I love him with all my heart and as imperfect as I am as flawed as I am as underdeveloped as I may be I offer him my whole life my whole soul I want to be
an instrument in his hands now as we conclude this uh last chapter it's it's a a significant time for me personally in that we've walked this journey this year and the previous four years with Taylor helverson and I going through all four books of scripture it has been such a wonderful Journey I've loved working with Taylor I've loved working here with the incredible team at scripture Central I've Loved volunteering my effort and my time here in hopes that some small token of my offering has helped perhaps to connect you more with heaven to help you
see more clearly the savior in your own life and to be able to walk with him more intentionally more uh recognizably and and more powerfully as you move forward so as we come to the end of this year's curriculum cycle for come follow me I'm not going to continue doing uh come follow me the previously recorded episodes with Taylor so the Taylor and Tyler uh come follow me insights series will continue to be available on YouTube but I'm going to do some different um things here at scripture Central where I take more topics and and
ideas about our church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ and try to explain them in way ways that would help people who are not members of our church to get a better idea of who we are and what we believe and why we believe so firmly in some of the things that we teach and hold near and dear to try to build some bridges of understanding but just know that it has been a very sacred privilege for me to share this time over the last 5 years going through these come follow me lessons with you
and I don't take it lightly the the trust that you have placed in me and in Taylor and in scripture Central in sharing this time with us and inviting us into your home or onto your phone or into your study settings our hope is that this has not been a spectator sport so to speak our hope is that you have learned some things and felt motivated to then go and and empowered even to go into the scriptures and search them diligently for yourself to go into this this diamond mine if you will and just start
digging around and finding things that God has for you so listen to Nephi's beautiful Insight here second Nephi 32 second half of verse three he says Feast upon the words of Christ for Behold The Words of Christ will tell you all things what you should do I love that as we Feast upon the words not just the podcasts not just the commentaries not just the books that other people have written about them but when we actually Feast on the The Words of Christ especially contained in the scriptures and the words of living prophets it the
promise is sure they will tell us all things what we should do and then over in verse 5 he says if you will enter in by the way if you and the way that he described the gate is repentance and baptism if you'll enter in he promises you will receive the Holy Ghost and it will show unto you all things what you should do brothers and sisters this is a beautiful process as we Feast on the words of Christ the words tell us what to do and as we walk the Covenant path as we apply
the principles we're feasting upon as they become a part of our life and we apply them we integrate them into who we be who we're becoming the Holy Ghost comes and shows us all things what you should do the words of Christ tell and the holy ghost shows we have Show and Tell and oh how we need both I want to add my small voice to the Myriad voices that have come before and to the prophetic voices that speak with Apostolic Authority today I want to add my small witness and invitation to theirs God lives
he is our father holds worlds without number in his hand and he holds us in his heart as his children I know that Jesus is the Christ the son of God our savior Our Redeemer our intercessor with God the facilitator of all that is good and all of the gifts and mercies and power and knowledge flow from the father and the son through the Holy Ghost into our life to show us how to how to move forward in Greater Faith than ever before so to finish I will walk with Jesus and he will walk with
me that is my prayer my sincere hope and faith in God and in all of us that we will apply that as we move forward in our discipleship as we make a new beginning in our covenant relationship with God in our study of the scriptures in our engagement with the Gospel of Jesus Christ May the Lord's richest blessings be ours is my hope my prayer and my faith and I leave that with you with gratitude for who you are and who you're becoming through Christ and I leave it in his name even Jesus Christ amen
