My Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD Experience! The One To Buy

if you're in the market for a model 3 the question is which model 3 should you buy and that's the spirit of this of this video today should you go for the rear wheel drive with 363 Mi of range or should you go for the little spicier version the all-wheel drive or should you really go for the mac daddy like I did which I have no regrets about and go for the performance but I got to tell you something as you'll see in this video I've been driving this car all weekend here this turo this

model 3 rear wheel drive it really is all you need what an amazing value so look if you want to go offbrand off Tesla there's lots of other choices but the question in this video is which of the model threes is the right one for you and this rear wheel drive super [Music] sweet welcome to another episode of out aspect Dave where today I'm going to be taking a Tesla Model 3 rear wheel drive over to Miami actually going to the boat show I'm going to be looking for electric boats um but you know what's

interesting is I uh I just came down to Marco for the weekend for the long weekend and I decided to Toro a rear wheeel drive model 3 just to see how big of a difference is it to my performance now I love my performance and I'm not selling it so you know but here's the deal this model 3 rear wheel drive man I got to tell you something it's the bomb it's it's all you need it's maybe not all you want but it's all you need so let's get into this I'm going to tell you

all about the test model 3 rear wheel drive all right well here I am somewhere in the middle of a big Cyprus National Park here and uh I don't know about this sign behind me but before we talk about the Teslas let's go see what's here but here we are in uh at this Big Cypress and you can see the alligators they're just you can barely see them when they're under the water but then when they come out of the water they just poke their little noses up and their eyes that's when you know it's

time not to be in the water with them oh my God and they can disappear so easily it's amazing incredible all right well here it is it's the 2025 model 3 rear wheel drive this one is uh it's pretty cool cuz it's blue I don't think I've ever driven a blue Tesla um I don't know why but I don't think I have maybe I have anyway black interior this is about the cheapest Tesla get got the arrow Wheels the paint was an add-on but uh this car was manufactured in November of 20124 and what's interesting

about that is years ago Tesla would always they'd always say the date that the car was made was the date the year of the car but this happens to be a 2025 they changed this a little while back um so anyway really uh really just your base model 3 but it packs such a punch I mean this thing's got pretty much everything you need um and even more I mean it's great now you know a lot of people will talk about oh it's a rear wheel drive so if you live up in the north country

but let me tell you something because of the fact that the rear motor weighs more on the rear axle put a really nice set of Nokian snow tires on there perhaps or whatever brand you want but nokki in Haka palas and uh you'll you'll be fine I mean people have been driving rear wheeel drive moneses in Norway for years so anyway really really great car and and the thing that I want to talk about here today is do you really need the performance did I need the performance do you need the all-wheel drive do you

need the extra speed and what I would say is you don't need it you may want it and by all means go out and buy it but guess what folks this is the one to buy what an incredible value I mean these things especially now um if you use anyone's referral code including mine um you'll get $2500 off the price of one of these cars and these things still qualify assuming you do for the $7,500 federal tax credit as long as as long as it's still available and also depending on what state you live in

you might be able to get a State rebate as well so look I mean I'm not saying this is the best car made or you know it's the only thing to consider but it is really a tough it's a tough nut to argue that this is one heck of a great car so let's talk a little bit more about it inside and uh we're actually in Miami Dade County now here at a I don't know this is a um it's an Indian moccasin shop I guess a souvenir shop over there so I may hit that

on the way back but I got to go over to Miami proper go to the boat show find me some EVS over there there's a lot of Chaos in the marketplace right now where people are talking about Tesla and and and and it's CEO and you know here's the thing I don't care about any of that stuff I like to drive cars I like to drive EVS I like to drive gas cars too three pedal cars um but you cannot argue you with the fact that this car is such an incredibly good value for the

money in terms of what you get the refinement everything that's in this base rear wheeel drive model 3 is you get it in the all-wheel drive which is definitely faster um you also get it in the performance now there are things and differences between these these vehicles the uh model 3 rear wheel drive it's not as fast right it's got got one motor in the rear and you know just to get the the elephant in the room out of the way even if you are in the area where it does snow like where I live

in Connecticut do you really need all wheeel drive now if you live in a driveway or a road where there's um you know a steep incline it's there's no doubt it's better to have all-wheel drive but you know we haven't really had Winters recently um like when I was a kid and how many days do you really need to have that rear wheel or the all-wheel drive now I took a rear wheeel drive model 3 mine all the way up to uh the casino in Upstate New York where they they had the magic docks up

there and and you know I was driving across Upstate New York I think it was Route was it8 no it wasn't 87 I forget I was a New York state throughway and basically in a blizzard and had I had the I just had the I didn't even have snow tires on I just had the all the all weathers or the all season tires that came with the car and the thing was was really pretty good now if you were going to you're going to slide it around sure you don't have the ground clearance in a

model 3 like you would maybe a little bit more in a model Y and I'm not saying it's perfect for the snow country but what I would say is do you really need all-wheel drive okay um it's a little bit lighter it'll handle a little bit different if you get on it it doesn't have the punch to get you know to be tail happy and all of that in in the twisties but it's got It's it's a lot of fun to drive this car the posture is exactly the same everything is pretty much the same

you've got this nice cloth material uh if you just get the base rear or the base seats the the um the black seats which you don't have to pay I think it's like $11,000 more for the white seats you do have heated and cooled seats plus a heated steering wheel the difference in this car though you don't get the subwoofer or subwoofers um that are mounted in the back sort of panel or uh shelf in the back that you do in the all-wheel drive or the the um the performance I'm not going to go over

all the differences but I think what you really need to think about I think what you really need to think about that's smart Dave wow nice uh very articulate here uh this this car if if if I shut my open my eyes I'm in my car it feels just like my car the difference the really the only difference is when you punch it when you punch it you don't get that nauseous feeling it it it accelerates relatively quickly Forget About Numbers it's all you need in terms of acceleration again it may not what be what

you want but it it really does um it does the trick now I'm on the Arrow Wheels which are the 18inch wheels and the ride is is quite smooth um if you opt for a little bit larger Wheels you're going to have a little bit firmer ride in the vehicle because you got a higher sidewall of course um the other thing is that in the performance what really sold me on that car and again I got it because I wanted it um that's sort of my my dream car and so uh you know I want

to take it on the track I want to really learn how to drive it this spring and and have some fun with it um but that also has a little bit of a different suspension some dampers that are Dynamic on that car and I I do think with the 20-in wheels the way that it really is in the twisties it it's a lot firmer in terms of um um the the the handling how however this new model 3 refresh and we've beat this to death in in many many videos nice airbolt going down the road

there um but the ride is just it's smooth in this car much better much better than in the previous generation model 3 and so they've really softened it out and especially in the base model 3 with the 18-in wheels this thing rides really well I did feel when I picked it up um I Toro this car and uh shout out to the to the guy that I that I Toro it from been an excellent Communicator that dropped the car off at Regional southwest air airport by the way as far as the tour touring a car

um it this time around because this is President's Day weekend the base model like you know just a gas car from Herz or or Alamo they were going for like $80 90 a day down here and and um so I did pay a little bit more and I got the insurance obviously with the uh with the turo but the it was it was super easy to to um use the turo if you're not familiar with turo I could do a whole separate video on what is turo and how do you turo a car or how

do you put your car on turo one of the pros and cons but this car already has over 8,000 mil on it and I just the uh I just peeled off the the little uh plastic you know sticker sticker on thing because it was I no one had P pulled it off before and I I can't handle that when it's on there so where is it somewhere in the back here yeah I mean I'll put it back on I'll put it back on when I'm uh when I'm done with the car but anyway it's a

it's a brandy new car Less Than 3 months on the road why do I know that because this car came with FSD which I've been using I'm not using it right now uh but it's been been uh I've been using it the whole trip and it's it's really good I mean it's really good so 3 months uh free FSD with this uh when I guess when the owner purchased this car so all of that was off and uh I turned it on the other thing is that there's a feature in this car which is under

driving Dynamics I think it's Dynamics um Auto beta no uh autopilot yeah a lot of motorcycles out today wow um yeah the forward Collision warning I I will tell you I don't know why Tesla delivers the cars with um in the set the medium setting I would highly recommend everyone goes in and changes that setting it's within um within autopilot just change it to early so that you get an early warning for for Collision warning um I think that's safer so anyway um you know the sound system in this car is really good I mean

I'm not it's better in my model 3 Performance the the model 3 Performance for sure I think it looks better I got the little spoiler on the back but it's basically the same car and arguably why do you need more so you know look enough said on this I think if you're in the market for a new car this model 3 rear wheel drive don't over bu unless you want to um in my case I wanted to and I'm super happy with my with my Quicksilver White model 3 Performance that I did pay for FSD

and I'm actually glad I did that at the time when I bought my model 3 Performance um if I paid the extra money uh than for FSD then they gave me the free paint color I didn't have to pay up for the color or the paint on the model 3 Performance you can get either the white or the black seat so there's little differences so go on to the configurator and check it out but the bottom line was that because I was able to take advantage of the little incentive that Tesla have and they change

it all the time I was able to qualify last year for the federal tax credit of 7500 model 3 rear wheel drive boy I'll tell you what unless you're punching it I don't feel that much of a difference I feel like I'm in my car so Kathy what are your thoughts of this this base rear wheel drive model 3 we've had all weekend I think it's fantastic I don't not sure why you went to get one that was faster this I don't know either it's really great car I love it well I got that rear

spoiler oh well that was worth the upgrade for sure I mean obviously I've got I think you got a little stickery badge I got a little stickery badge in the back right I mean I've got track mode V3 and you use that all the time and I use that on my commute to work right um yeah now this has been fantastic yeah I've been using FSD on this um all weekend and it's it's quite good it really it's doing I mean it's FSD so it's it's doing the job all right well I know that FSD

has been played to death there's a lot of videos out there I put on I put on some sunscreen and man it's it's going into my eyes already so as I'm getting ready for the Miami Boat Show but let's just um let's just take a step back and and and watch what this car does as far as FSD because it is it is really truly um gotten very good all right so we're on FSD we're 10 miles from the parking lot where you get on the shuttle boat to take you out to where the Miami

Boat Show is it's really wild it's going to be a separate video I'm going to be looking for electric boats today which should be fun so hopefully you watch that video will come along for the ride with me but in the meantime we are FS ding it um a little bit here and let's just watch what it does again this isn't a video about FSD but um you know might as well throw it in so you know we've got the three months free FSD um and it's going went all the way over to the left

here people are selling stuff in the middle of the road you know on Southwest 137th Avenue this guy's got some leftover roses perhaps from Valentine's Day look at that that's pretty cool um but yeah I mean listen you know the fact that this car's got three free months of FSD it's got two dings on it already for um and if you get five then it actually shuts off for a period of time I can't remember what exactly that that time is maybe you can you can um comment below on what that is I think it

might change from time to time I don't know if it's a week that they throw you in the Penalty Box but you really do need to pay attention it is super sensitive um from from the internal camera I can tell you that much FSD um to the point where it's almost a little bit annoying if you're not super familiar with the with the the uh interface and you're looking for certain things maybe changing the radio station it'll YY at you it'll yell um kind of like Bailey when she gets when she wants to go out

it's like yeah so anyway um yeah this is uh FSD has really gotten good here we're taking off following the QX60 and just going to let it do its thing stay nice and tight there you go yeah no big deal our next move is 1. one mile we're going to be turning right so let's see how this navigates over we're on a three lane road I wouldn't I wouldn't call this as a highway speed limit's 40 and Tesla bad boy in standard mode is doing 56 so now it's putting on its turn signal and it's

trying to get over but this Ford there he goes okay it eased up a little bit but look 16 over in a 40 I'm going to put it in chill mode and see what it does it's going over again which is good um I mean wow so if I get a speeding ticket and I'm doing 16 over and FSD is in there now I know that I'm the one who signed up for the FSD and I'm fully responsible but you know should I try to get reimbursed by Tesla for that I mean I could try

nice dual motor model y performance over there so we're going to be getting on 836 East and any Alligators over there I mean that's one thing you got to worry about down in Florida is alligators right no matter where it is if there's a puddle there's an alligator and that's why I kind of like being on the 18th floor of a condo and not many Critters can get up there even the mosquitoes they don't fly that high take the Florida 836 East on the right all right we're going to be taking the Florida 8:30 836

is that what it is yeah 836 East on the ramp it's a it's a uh toll by plate here we go taking it so the nice thing about this newest version of FSD is the eye control as long as you are paying attention and looking and not getting too distracted you don't need to keep your hands on the wheel I I getting more comfortable with that I'm used to keeping my hand usually I put it like sort of in the bottom just to give it a little bit of pressure one way or another but we're

making our way closer and closer to unsupervised this is still supervised FS FSD and um here's the toll you can see right up here sun pass wow it's 20 8 cents 28 cents for this toll so now I'm in chill mode what you can do is slide this little wheel over to the right and go hurry now hurry it immediately put on the turn signal and it's gone into the left hand or the center lane now speed limit's 55 and we are doing 71 72 so yeah I mean like who's breaking the law here oh

there it's going again taking another Lane 72 is not fast enough 73 boy 74 75 so it's doing 20 over 20 over in the hurry mode I know it's my ticket if I get ticketed but let me see what that what it does if I back it off to standard mode okay standard mode immediately put on the turn signal went over to the right to the center lane and is back to speed off [Music] to 68 68 all right there you have it so anyway enough with FSD it's doing great it's one stack now um

in other words the highway stack what it's using now it's the same stack as the as the um as the city stack so I think that uh the neural network neural network and everything that Tesla is doing to make this better even Kathy said when we were after we picked up this car from RSW we used it all the way back to Marco Island FSD just's like wow Dave it's really it's gotten good it's really gotten good so I have no regret threats that I bought FSD on my model 3 Performance I wish they would

allow you to transfer it from one car to another so that if you have an older model 3 or model y with Hardware 3 it would be good if you could actually transfer that if you paid for it some people paid a lot of money for FSD and um you know it would be nice if you could you're not locked into that car FSD stays with the car once in a while you'll see Tesla will come out and they will um allow you to do a transfer and that's when people jump Tesla's got all these

different level levers sales levers incentives that they will throw at the marketplace when they want to dial in sales so it's such an interesting business model uh not the only model that's out there but an interesting one so enough on FSD let's go to Miami Boat Show all right so here we we are charging up at the uh the new Naples Tesla now these are V4 cabinets but there are actually just uh the Chargers that are that are over in there are still V3 so these are not really putting out the uh the V4 juice

like th000 amps or what have you so but it's a great location here um we've got a got a Panera Bread over there we've got staples Fresh Market you want to get your nails dug done you got to pinch of Penny I don't know what that is Pinch A Penny and get a Subway sandwich so you can do all that but in any event yeah great setup here we've got 12 12 V3 superchargers and these are the new cabinets so what's really nice is we're hoping that this is going that Kathy will get her she'll

get her um KNX adapter for the summer when she brings her car down here her Porsche mcon for the summer but if you're if you're using let's say you want to come over here and you got a Ford F-150 Lightning look at the length of the cables here on these these V4 dispensers really nice really long and this is what this is what we need because those V3 cables man they they cause all kinds of issues here um and then they've got one side one side uh mounted V4 right over here dispenser so nice installation

here and yeah what do you think about these black seats versus the white seats well I'm a white seat kind of girl yeah you know it's for me it's all too black but I don't care it's not mine yeah I'm you know what I like I like this cloth sort of material on the uh base when you get the black seats it's a it's more of a plasticky white material and I had a number of people reach out and say do you do you see a reflection in the windshield of the white I don't really

think I do I I didn't notice I wasn't looking yeah I hear you yeah all right well good stuff all right all right so we plugged in in a 26% state of charge it ramped up just to around 200 KW and then it kind of tapered down you know generally speaking as we uh as all these Panasonic batteries charge at a 50% state of charge it's usually around 105 108 Kow here we are at a 45% state of charge at 112 KW so very typical Behavior here for this uh rear wheeel drive model 3 now

because this is a turo I did receive the car at a 75% state of charge and what I need to do is I probably need to go up to um 90% in order to return the car back at 75% cuz we got to go up the Road a Piece here to get to RSW Regional Southwest we're still here in in Naples Florida right now what's interesting though that I learned is that turo is very very nitpicky as far as time if you say you're going to return the car by 7:00 they give you get 29

minutes of grace Time and that's it and if you don't get the car back to the you know checked in where you have to take pictures of it and make sure that you didn't crash it or do something bad to it um and those pictures have to be uploaded by 29 minutes after the time that you agreed to bring the car back then you get a minimum of a 20 $20 late charge then they may ding you for usage charges so I had actually reached out to the owner of this Toro and and I said

hey can you let me have the car until 8:00 our flight just got delayed um we're flying back tonight and he said it's not up to me it's up to turo so I went to turo and I put it in the app I said let let me have 1 hour extra they wanted $127 so I was like that's not working for me so that's when I went on to the turo.com website and I started texting with one of the turo reps who communicated you know wish I could do something for you you've got 29 minute

grace period but make sure you get it back into the app before then so be really careful if you're touring your cars maybe um shoot for an extra two hours than you think you need when you put it into the app when you're taking it so good luck to you on that overall though it's been a good experience yeah so as I suspected 50% state of charge we're at 104 KW so this is charging right in line with where I would expect it to charge you know I thought about setting my phone up as a

key for this car but I decided against it um i' just been using the key cards which are great but you know they they work fine but you know one time I left the condo uh I went down to the car and I had my phone so I figured I had my key oh man I had to go back up and get those stupid little plastic cards so maybe I should set it up should have set it up as a phone to key uh on here but anyway yeah listen you know it's uh it's definitely

little things that that um I was unable to do in other words um by not setting my phone up as a key I didn't actually get the ability to have all my radio station pre-programmed in here uh this car even though it's it's a it was built I think it was November of 2024 the FSD is still working with the three-month free trial but things like Spotify and all the different radio stations that um that perhaps the owner of this car could have given me I wasn't unable to use so we've been using FM radio

which is pretty good also I've been throwing off uh Bluetooth off my phone and using spotify off my phone app for some music as well um Serius satellite does not work in this car that's because it's only I think a 30-day trial and then you have to get it and the owner didn't didn't actually up for that so not that I blame him I think that makes sense boy I'll tell you what unless you're punching it I don't feel that much of a difference I feel like I'm in my car the ambient lighting is there
