start keto for physical reasons they want to lose weight they want to get off those prescription medications that knee that's been bothering them for 30 years was better when I was keto so I want to be keto and indeed they lose weight they get healthier they are incredibly better but if they only ever focus on the food they're missing the most important reason to keto which is to fix the reason they got there in the first place and this is to reverse food addiction food addiction is not a popular topic on YouTube and as somebody
playing the YouTube game it would be far better if I would have a thumbnail that says drink one cup a day and you'll power wash the insides of your arteries instead of saying hey food addiction is what you're really struggling from and this is how you reverse it for a real one is dubiously presenting an easy way to fix your problems and the other gets at a core cause the root cause of why you're here people will gravitate towards those quick easy additive Solutions and this is true with my clinic they'll come to me for
a problem that's been chronic and been a major issue and when I tell them that a prescription or a supplement is not going to fix this problem they're disappointed this is a problem that you've been brewing for 30 years and we need to subtract the things that are actually causing the problem and maybe I've been guilty of perpetuating the mindset that adding foods will fix the problem one of my best performing videos is the seven foods for insulin resistance I love that video I think it actually teaches some of the core issues that people have
and that need to be addressed for them to truly get healthy but maybe the most honest title would have been carbs spikes of sugar and cause insulin resistance quit that to reverse this problem but what if you clicked on that video probably not and then my reach would have been terrible and there would have been fewer people actually getting better oh don't get me wrong there is a time and place to focus on food at the beginning of the ketogenic diet just helping people get their mind around how to eat this new way is very
important and that is a time where you need to trans position from a place where a lot of fat based hormones are not working right and we need them to work right in order for you to feel better understanding which foods belong on the menu and which ones don't is a real learning curve and there's usually an adaption to what your palette will like from the beginning of that learning curve to the end but if all you ever do is focus on the food we are missing the people who do the best on the ketogenic
diet the ones who stay the course and that is those who have the ability to really look in the mirror and say quit using food to feel better they understand how it is an addiction that got them to this place so if somebody asked me Doc can I eat vegetables is keto the right thing for me should I be carnivore or is it heat of war that I should be I tell them I don't know what that is but I do tell them to stop and do this one thing measure it doesn't matter how much
fat or how much meat or how many vegetables you eat if you are not circulating ketones in your body you're not on the ketogenic diet if you do not have ketones and circulation so your eating pattern and your amount of carbohydrates needs to still result in having ketones in circulation find some meals that you like eat those and then ask yourself are you in ketosis are those morning fasting Ketone numbers still at therapeutic level are you getting the results that you want if you're asking this keto versus carnivore question because you're not getting results rest
