welcome to the world of science fiction don't forget to like And subscribe so you don't miss new stories enjoy the listening the detention cell's harsh light cast Shadows on Eric's face he studied a security briefing on his tablet his weathered face reflected in the glass it reminded him of 15 years spent guarding the Galaxy's most dangerous criminals but this assignment felt different subject princess lyanna of skinia classific a maximum security transport Eric's eyes narrowed as he scrolled through the details Threat Level extreme the cell door hummed open behind him Commander Mark's crisp footsteps echoed off
the metal walls ready for the briefing Marshall Mark's voice carried its usual military Precision Eric turned squaring his broad shoulders brief me she's not what you'd expect Mark gestured toward the observation window take a look Eric stepped forward his breath catching despite years of practice stoicism The Prisoner sat perfectly still her Emerald skin luminescent under the cell's harsh lighting her flowing black hair fell past her shoulders it contrasted with an orange containment dress that hugged her curves designed to distract Quantum shackles bound her hands a silk gag covered her face which he assumed was equally
striking doesn't look like our usual Max security transport Eric said keeping his tone neutral Mark's lips tightened that's exactly what makes her dangerous the skians are masters of biochemical Warfare their royal family especially they can emit pheromones that cloud judgment and manipulate emotions that dress isn't a fashion Choice it's lined with suppressant Tech Eric absorbed this information watching as lyanna's head turned slightly toward the window though she couldn't see them through the one-way glass he felt a distinct sensation of being studied your mission is simple Mark continued transport her to the Nexus 9 facility no
stops no Communications no deviations the political situation with skinia is volatile her captures being kept quiet until she's secured what's she in for that's above your clearance Mark handed him a security chip all you need to know is she doesn't reach Nexus 9 we're looking at potential Interstellar War Eric pocketed the chip his mind already mapping contingencies ship ready the Starks prepped on pad 7 latest Stealth Tech automated defense systems and a separate containment pod for for the prisoner you'll be the only crew timeline you launch in 30 Mark's expression softened slightly watch yourself Eric
the beautiful ones are always the most lethal Eric entered the cell 15 minutes later medical scanner in hand the standard procedure required checking for hidden weapons or Tech before transport he'd done this hundreds of times but something about lyanna's Stillness made his skin prickle I'm conducting a security scan he announced keeping his voice professionally detached please stand she rose with fluid Grace her bound Hands Held carefully in front of her even gagged there was an undeniable regality in her bearing the scanner hummed as he moved it around her he kept a safe distance despite a
urge to get closer the device chirped all clear but Eric noticed something else her breathing had shifted becoming slightly faster was she nervous plotting something the possibilities nagged at him as he led her through the detention Center's corridors toward the Launchpad the Stark waited like a predatory bird its sleek black Hull absorbing The Starlight Eric guided lyanna up the ramp she studied everything with sharp intelligence despite her restraints the containment pod was state-of-the-art it had transparent aluminum walls and life support it also had enough suppressant Tech to handle a dozen skians your accommodation for the
next 12 hours Eric said securing her inside he hesitated before closing the Pod door struck by an impossible urge to remove her gag to hear what she might say professional training won out the door was sealed with a soft hiss in the cockpit Eric ran pre flight checks with practiced efficiency he tried to ignore his passenger behind him the engines thrummed to life and soon they were breaking the atmosphere leaving the glittering sprawl of New Shanghai behind 4 hours into the flight Eric's training wed with his curiosity he found himself glancing at the pod's camera
feed more often than necessary lyanna hadn't moved sitting with perfect posture despite her restraints there was something hypnotic about her Stillness like a jungle cat waiting for the perfect moment to warning claxon shattered his thoughts his display showed multiple system failures engine power was dropping navigation was offline life support was failing what the hell Eric's fingers flew across the controls trying to isolate the cause nothing made sense these systems weren't connected and shouldn't be failing simultaneously through the cockpit window he spotted a Dusty Brown Planet their trajectory no longer corrected by nav systems was pulling
them into its gravity well Eric keyed the emergency Beacon but only static answered he glanced at the pod's feed lyanna had finally moved her head tilted as if listening to the alarms was this her doing some hidden skinny and Tech the scanner missed no time to wonder the planet's atmosphere was rushing up to meet them the hull beginning to glow from re-entry heat Eric grabbed manual control wrestling with the failing ship they might survive if he could just the impact through him against his restraints metal screamed emergency lights flashed when the chaos settled Eric found
himself staring out at an endless desert landscape through a cracked view screen they were down alive but stranded in an unknown world with failing systems and a potentially deadly prisoner he looked again at lyanna's feed she stared directly into the camera now and even through the grainy image he could have sworn he saw her smile behind the gag Eric ran another diagnostic cursing under his breath as each system reported critical failures main power was at 12% Communications were dead and life support running on auxiliary twin Suns seen through the view screen cast harsh Shadows they
fell on a landscape of rust colored dunes and Jagged rocks a soft tapping sound drew his attention to the containment pods feed lyanna had moved to the transparent wall one delicate finger tapping a deliberate Rhythm her Emerald skin seemed to Shimmer under the pod's harsh lighting and despite the gag her eyes conveyed clear intelligence she wasn't panicking if anything she appeared almost amused not exactly a luxury cruise is it princess Eric muttered more to himself than her he checked the pods environmental controls still stable though they'd need main power restored within 6 hours to maintain
them the ship groaned as Eric made his way back to the containment Area emergency lighting cast everything in a blood red glow it threw lyanna's exotic features into sharp relief she tracked his movement with those unsettling eyes gold irises with vertical pupils like some elegant Predator Eric activated his wrist computer scanning the local environment atmosphere's thin but breathable temperature dropping fast with the sun setting he eyed lyanna's formfitting dress that outfit's not exactly designed for survival conditions she raised an eyebrow managing to look sardonic even bound and gagged don't give me that look this isn't
a pleasure Crews gone wrong Eric checked the Pod seals I need to assess damage and attempt repairs you'll stay the ship lurched suddenly metal shrieking the deck tilted as the vessel settled deeper into the sand Eric caught himself on the Pod wall finding him himself inches from lyanna this close he noticed faint patterns in her skin like phosphorescent tattoos shifting just beneath the surface he stepped back quickly remembering Mark's warning about pheromones right change of plans the Pod wasn't safe if the ship structure was compromised protocol said to keep a distance from The Prisoner but
it hadn't accounted for a crash landing on an alien desert Eric weighed his options studying lyanna's composed features I'm moving you to the cargo hold he decided it's more stable and I can seal it if needed he input his security code and the Pod door slid open with a hiss try anything and I'll have to respond with appropriate force clear lyanna gave a slight nod her movement graceful despite the restraints as Eric guided her through the Tilted corridors he noticed how she adapted to the ship's awkward angle with dancer likee Precision the cargo hold was
cramped but secure with emergency supplies and a separate environmental system sit Eric ordered indicating a cargo crate she complied Crossing her legs elegantly as if taking a throne rather than a makeshift seat in a crashed spaceship he secured her restraints to a support beam double-checking the quantum locks I need to check the engine core If you experience any distress he paused realizing the absurdity of explaining emergency procedures to a gagged prisoner just try not to die while I'm gone was that Amusement dancing in those alien eyes Eric spent the next hour crawling through access tunnels
discovering more bad news with each inspection the Quantum Drive was completely dead power cells cracked some someone had sabotaged them the failures were too precise too coordinated to be accidental Upon returning to the cargo hold he found lyanna as he' left her but her posture suggested she'd been waiting for him the Suns had set temperature dropping rapidly his breath fogged in the increasingly cold air good news is we're not about to explode Eric announced checking the cargo hold supplies bad news news is pretty much everything else we're looking at at least 8 hours before enough
power regenerates for basic repairs he pulled out emergency blankets tossing one over lyanna's shoulders she shifted allowing it to settle around her and something about the movement drew his eye to The Elegant curve of her neck the way the orange dress Eric shook his head sharply Focus she was a prisoner a dangerous one but as the the temperature dropped and the wind howled Eric's gaze returned to those intelligent eyes he wondered what Secrets lay behind them the night ahead would be long and he had a growing suspicion that maintaining professional distance would be the least
of his problems the desert's bitter cold crept in through the ship's damaged Hull and with it came questions Eric couldn't shake who had sabotaged them what was this princess's true story and why couldn't he stop noticing the way the emergency lights played across her ethereal features he settled against the opposite wall weapon close at hand he prepared for a long night of watching his captive but he tried to ignore the feeling that he was somehow caught in a trap another hour crept by the cargo hold's temperature had stabilized but was barely above Comfort level Eric
found himself studying lyanna's face in the dim light noticing how she showed no signs of discomfort despite the cold the emergency blanket had slipped slightly from her shoulder and he caught himself wanting to adjust it the gag must be uncomfortable by now he said breaking the silence protocol advised against removal but protocol hadn't planned for their current situation also if she wanted to use her pheromone Powers the crash might have weakened the dress's suppression lyanna's eyes met his and something in that steady gaze made his decision I'm going to remove it Eric said standing but
I want to be clear any attempt to influence me through biochemical means will be met with immediate sedation he patted the injector on his belt he approached carefully aware of every movement up close the patterns beneath her skin were more visible subtle swirls that seemed to pulse with her heartbeat his fingers brushed her skin as he worked at the gags fastening and he noticed it was surprisingly warm despite the cold air the gag came free lyanna worked her jaw slightly but didn't immediately speak instead she studied him with those predatory eyes the ghost of a
smile playing at the corners of her mouth thank you she said finally her voice was melodic with an accent he couldn't quite place that was becoming BEC rather tedious don't thank me yet Eric replied maintaining his professional tone this isn't a courtesy I need information starting with who sabotaged my Ship Direct aren't you L shifted slightly and the movement caused the blanket to slip further but shouldn't you be more concerned with surviving the night those Suns won't return for another 14 hours and the temperature will drop at least another 20 Dees Eric frowned you seem
well informed about this planet I make it my business to be well informed about everything she glanced at her bound hands though I'd be more helpful with these removed not happening no her smile widened slightly even though we both know I could have affected you by now if I wanted to the crash damaged the suppressant lining in this rather unfl Shing dress hours ago Eric's hand moved to his injector but lyanna shook her head if I wanted to escape or harm you you'd already be unconscious I'm rather good at what I do officer Marshall Eric
Marshall Eric she tested his name and something about the way she said it sent an unexpected shiver down his spine a strong name it suits you flattery won't get your restraints removed no lyanna leaned forward slightly what about logic then you need to repair the ship the temperature is dropping and you have no idea what's really happening here I could help with all of that Eric crossed his arms and I should trust you because because I arranged this crash the admission stunned him into silence lyanna continued her voice taking on a more serious tone not
the sabotage that was someone else but I knew it would happen just as I know there are three different groups tracking this ship right now none of them friendly her golden eyes locked with his you need me Eric Marshall and I need someone who can see pass their orders to the bigger picture if you're trying to manipulate me I'm trying to save both our lives she straightened and suddenly The Prisoner was gone replaced by something Regal and command ending there's a war coming Eric one that will destroy both our peoples this capture this transport it's
all part of something much bigger and you have about six hours to decide if you're going to be a pawn or a player Eric studied her face looking for signs of deception he found none only an intensity that matched the growing urgency in her voice the temperature is dropping faster than you calculate she continued the ship's structural damage is worse than you know and the first group of hunters will arrive before the suns rise she leaned back that slight smile returning but by all means keep me bound I'm sure you'll handle everything perfectly well on
your own the cargo hold fell silent except for the wind's howl outside Eric felt the weight of decision pressing down on him heavier than the cold his training said she was dangerous and manipulative but something else Instinct perhaps whispered that she was telling the truth or at least part of it start talking he said finally everything you know about the sabotage then we'll discuss those restraints lyanna's smile widened and in the dim light her skin seemed to Glow brighter A wise choice Eric Marshall though I should warn you once you hear what I have to
say there's no going back to being just a security officer following orders the wind screamed louder outside and Eric had the distinct feeling he was about to cross a line that would change everything but as he settled in to listen to her story he couldn't shake the sense that he'd already crossed it the moment he'd removed her gag the night stretched ahead full of dangers and Revelations and somewhere in the darkness Hunters were coming but for now there was just the two of them a damaged ship and a truth that promised to shatter everything Eric
thought he knew about his mission his world and the mesmerizing prisoner who seemed to hold all the answers the attack on the skan embassy wasn't an act of terrorism lyanna began her voice dropping to a near whisper it was staged to justify my arrest Eric leaned against the cargo hold wall maintaining a calculated Distance by who the war council her lips curved in a bitter smile both Earths and skinia they've been orchestrating this conflict for years a particularly Fierce gust of wind rattled the ship's Hull Eric pulled his thermal jacket tighter noticing how lyanna's dress
had started to Shimmer slightly adapting to the cold convenient story he said hard to verify check your security clearance against file TR 271 her golden eyes caught the emergency lighting seeming to glow from within the authorization Mark gave you should be enough to access it Eric hesitated then activated his risk computer the file opened at once it showed classified documents about joint military exercises between Earth and skinia officially they never happened these are dated 3 days after the embassy attack he murmured scanning the data when I discovered these plans I tried to expose them lyanna
shifted the quantum restraints humming softly but I underestimated How deep the corruption went they branded me a traitor and claimed I was planning to assassinate Earth's Ambassador another violent shudder ran through the ship Eric checked the structural Integrity readings they were deteriorating faster than expected we need to move he decided this section isn't stable he approached lyanna key card in hand I'm transferring you to the crew quarters one wrong move and you'll sedate me yes I know she stood gracefully as he released her restraints from the support beam though we both know if I wanted
to escape these restraints wouldn't stop me maybe I trust the quantum locks more than your word no she said softly stepping closer than protocol allowed you trust your instincts and they're telling you I'm not your enemy Eric caught a subtle scent something like night blooming flowers and ozone he stepped back quickly remembering Mark's warnings about pheromones the crew quarters he said firmly gesturing toward the corridor they made their way through the Tilted ship emergency lights casting everything in Crimson Shadows lyanna moved with impossible Grace despite her bound hands Eric grew more aware of her presence
it was a warmth that seemed to radiate even through the cold air the crew quarters were small but better insulated Eric secured lyanna to a support strut trying to ignore how the emergency lighting played across her Emerald skin the hunters you mentioned he said checking the room's Environmental contr rolls who are they three groups lyanna settled onto one of the bunks Black Ops Team from Earth's military mercenaries hired by skinni and intelligence and she paused something dark flickering across her features the third group is why we need to work together you still haven't given me
a reason to trust you haven't I she tilted her head studying him you've had your suspicions about this Mission from the start the excessive security for one prisoner the unclear charges and Mark's vague explanations your instincts have been screaming that something's wrong Eric said nothing but they both knew she was right I could have influenced you the moment the suppressant dress failed she continued instead I'm trying to convince you with the truth because I need you to understand what's really at stake the ship's remaining systems chose that moment to flicker they plunged Into Darkness for
several seconds before the backup power engaged main powers failing faster than expected Eric muttered checking his readings we have maybe four hours before complete system failure lyanna's voice carried a new urgency the third group will arrive in six if we're still here when they come she left the sentence unfinished Eric studied her in the dim light everything in his training said this was elaborate manipulation but those documents and something about the way she held herself the intensity in her eyes if I remove those restraints he said slowly I need more than just your word lyanna
met his gaze steadily remove them and I'll show you something that will prove everything I've said But Eric her voice softened once you see it there's no going back your life as you know it will be over the wind howled outside their crippled ship in the distance something that might have been Thunder rolled across the alien desert Eric found himself at a Crossroads knowing his next decision would change everything show me he said finally reaching for the quantum locks lyanna's smile then was neither prisoner nor princess it was an equal offering a dangerous truth and
as the restraints fell away Eric realized he'd already chosen his path for better or worse as the quantum restraints deactivated with a soft hum lyanna rubbed her wrists Emerald skin shimmering in the low light instead of attempting Escape or attack she simply held out her right hand Palm up your scanner she said quietly analyze my genetic structure hesitated then passed her the medical scanner from his belt she adjusted several settings with practiced ease before pressing it against her own skin the device chirped and a holographic display sprang to life between them complex DNA sequences spiraled
in the air highlighted in pulsing red these markers lyanna pointed to specific sections her fingers dancing through the light they're not skinni in they're human Eric lean closer frowning that's impossible your appearance is engineered my entire species is she deactivated the scanner letting Darkness reclaim the room we weren't born Eric we were created by humans a distant boom rattled the ship's Hull not Thunder this time but something closer more deliberate Eric moved to the viewport scanning The Horizon nothing yet but the sound had definitely been weapons fire created for what purpose he asked though part
of him already suspected the answer War lyanna moved to stand beside him close enough that he could feel her warmth the perfect soldiers enhanced strength regenerative abilities natural defenses but they made us too well we developed beyond their control and established our own civilization that's what this coming conflict is really about the creators wanting to reclaim their weapons another explosion closer this time lyanna's hand touched his arm lightly the third group hunting us she said they're the original creators black division scientists who've spent decades trying to perfect their formula they don't want me imprisoned they
want to dissect me Eric's tactical training kicked in as he spotted movement on the horizon vehicles moving fast across the dunes how many two teams converging from the East the third will circle behind while we're distracted her night vision was clearly Superior to his we have maybe 20 minutes before they reach us Eric ran combat calculations the ship's weapons were offline and his sidearm wouldn't hold off three tactical teams even with lyanna Unbound you said you arranged this crash he remembered suddenly why here why trap us her smile held a predatory Edge because under this
sand lies something they don't know about something that will prove everything I've told you she gestured to the cargo hold help me move some crates quickly the next 10 minutes were a blur of activity they cleared a section of flooring revealing an access panel Eric hadn't known existed lyanna's fingers found hidden catches and the panel slid aside with a soft hiss dark stairs LED down to the planet's surface an ancient research facility lyanna explained as they heard Vehicles growing closer one of the original Labs where my people were created the evidence we need is down
there proof of the program the real plans for war everything Eric checked his weapon charge then the approaching signatures on his tactical display those teams will be here in 8 minutes then we have S minutes to disappear lyanna's eyes seemed to Glow brighter in the darkness trust me one more time another explosion lit the night closer now Eric could see the Tactical teams approaching three different uniform types just as she'd said his training screamed at him to subdue her and wait for rescue but his instincts lead the way he said said gesturing to the stairs
lyanna's smile was brilliant in the darkness she moved past him with fluid Grace pausing at the top of the stairs welcome to the real war Eric Marshall she whispered then descended into the darkness Eric took one last look at the approaching forces Then followed her down sealing the panel behind them as they moved deeper underground the sounds of combat above grew distant he chosen his side now he could only hope it was the right one the facility's ancient Corridor stretched ahead promising answers to questions he hadn't known to ask and beside him moved a woman
who was either his salvation or his destruction possibly both either way there was no turning back now the underground facility swallowed them in darkness until lyanna pressed her Palm against a seemingly blank wall ancient systems hummed to life casting the corridor in a soft blue glow the sound of combat above became muffled distant Thunder through meters of sand and metal biometric security she explained her Emerald skin taking on an ethereal quality in the pale light the facility recognizes skinni and DNA its own Creations Eric kept his weapon ready scanning their surroundings with practiced efficiency the
corridor stretched ahead its architecture a strange blend of human and alien design how long have you known about this place my entire life lyanna moved forward with purpose her orange dress a splash of color in the metallic environment I grew up studying classified Files about our Origins my father she paused something vulnerable flickering across her features the king believed knowledge was the the only way to prevent history from repeating a distant explosion shook the dust from the ceiling the teams above would soon realized they'd vanished they'll find the entrance eventually Eric noted checking his tactical
display no signals down here too much interference let them come lyanna's smile held an edge of anticipation this facility has defenses they can't imagine but we need to reach the central lab first they moved deeper into the complex they passed rooms with ancient equipment and dark stasis Chambers Eric watched lyanna her precise Grace showed a royal upbringing and something more dangerous the pheromones he said suddenly they were part of the engineering biological warfare she glanced back at him gold eyes glinting designed to incapacitate enemy forces though they had unexpected effects she paused turning to face
him fully you've been fighting them since we crashed Eric maintained his professional expression though his pulse quickened I'm trained to resist chemical influence are you she stepped closer and that subtle scent of night flowers filled his senses or are you just very good at pretending another explosion rattled the facility closer this time Eric used it as an excuse to step back maintaining tactical distance the lab lyanna's knowing smile suggested she wasn't fooled but she turned and continued leading them deeper into the facility through here they entered a vast circular chamber its ceiling Lost In Shadows
above Banks of ancient equipment lined the walls and in the center what the hell I breathed a massive cylindrical tank dominated the room filled with swirling liquid that seemed to glow from within suspended in its depths was a figure humanoid but clearly not human its skin patterns matching lyanna's but twisted wrong somehow the first attempt lyanna said softly patient zero of project ascendant the beginning of my species she moved to a control panel her finger dancing across its surface displays flickered to life showing genetic sequences and Military reports then something made Eric's blood run cold
it was a plan for a skan army that dwarfed anything in the official records They didn't just want soldiers lyanna continued her voice tight with controlled anger they wanted Living Weapons they could point at their enemies when we developed Consciousness and free will they tried to destroy us the survivors fled and established our own world but the creators never stopped watching waiting for the right moment to reclaim their property heavy footsteps echoed from the corridors above the hunting teams had found the entrance how much time do we need Eric asked moving to cover the main
doorway four minutes to download the core data two more to activate the facility's defenses lyanna's fingers flew across the controls still trust me Eric checked his weapon charge listening to the approaching forces do I have a choice always she met his gaze her expression softening that's what they never understood the choice is what makes us more than their weapons the footsteps grew closer Eric took a defensive position he tried to ignore how the chamber's blue light made lyanna's skin glow like polished Jade her presence filled his mind despite the threat this wasn't the mission he'd
been assigned but as he prepared to defend a woman who should be his prisoner against his allies Eric realized he might be meant to find the mission the first Shadows appeared in the doorway and the knight's true battle was about to begin the first attacker appeared in the doorway Black Tactical Gear no Insignia Eric's shot caught him in the chest the energy glass throwing him back into his teammates 2 minutes lyanna called from the console her fingers flying across the ancient controls multiple targets Now using the door frame for cover Eric recognized their formation Earth
Special Forces the next wave would come in fast trying to overwhelm his position he wasn't disappointed three soldiers burst through simultaneously rolling to different positions Eric dropped one but the others established Crossfire angles Marshall a familiar voice called out stand down you're protecting a hostile asset Mark of course they'd send his former Commander funny Eric called back squeezing off another shot she's not the one shooting at me a new group appeared different tactics sleeker gear skinni and intelligence the chamber erupted in energy fire from multiple directions Eric felt rather than saw lyanna move one moment
she was at the console the next she was flowing through the battlefield like liquid mercury her enhanced speed made her almost impossible to track as she engaged the nearest soldiers damn Eric breathed watching her disarm two attackers with devastating efficiency the grace remained but now it had a lethal purpose 30 seconds she called her voice carrying easily over the chaos ready for a surprise before Eric could respond the chamber's lights pulsed the liquid in the central tank began to swirl faster its glow intensifying whatever you're doing Eric dropped another attacker do it faster a new
group entered different from the others white environmental suits Advanced weapons the creators now lyanna slammed her hand onto the console the facility came alive around them panels slid open in the walls and ceiling revealing automated defense turrets but instead of firing they emitted waves of Sonic energy that dropped the attacking forces to their knees all except lyanna and Eric genetic recognition systems lyanna explained moving back to his position they only affect unregistered DNA patterns Mark struggled to raise his weapon fighting against the Sonic assault Marshall she's manipulating you the pheromones no Eric said quietly she
just showed me the truth the white- suited Figures were retreating their high-tech gear protected them a bit from the Sonic attack one of them raised a specialized weapon aiming not at them but at the central tank the data lyanna's eyes widened they're trying to destroy the evidence Eric didn't hesitate he tackled her behind a console just as the weapon fired the blast hit the tank creating a spiderweb of cracks on its surface transfer complete he asked keeping her covered as secondary explosions Rock The Chamber yes but we need to move when that tank ruptures the
facility's lighting turned red an ancient warning system began broadcasting in multiple languages Containment Breach detected emergency protocols were initiated facility ceiling in 3 minutes Eric met lyanna's eyes in the Crimson light they seemed to burn with internal fire please tell me you have an Escape Route her smile was fierce better I have a ship she produced a small device from somewhere in her dress hidden about 2 km East but but we'll have to run the tanks cracks were spreading and the liquid within beginning to leak out the Sonic defenses were failing and the incapacitated forces
were starting to recover what about them Eric nodded toward the Fallen Soldiers the facility will seal itself then pump in stasis gas they'll survive lyanna touched his arm lightly but we won't if we stay another explosion rocked the the chamber the Tank's integrity was failing faster now 2 kilm in the desert night Eric muttered being chased by three hostile forces having second thoughts about trusting me there was something challenging in her Smile Eric checked his weapon charge then grabbed her hand not yet run her fingers intertwined with his warm despite the chaos around them run
they burst from the chamber as the tank finally shattered the facility's warnings reaching fever pitch behind them shouts and energy fire erupted as the recovered forces realized their targets were escaping but Eric wasn't thinking about the mission anymore or protocols or duty all that existed was lyanna's hand in his their feet pounding against ancient metal and the promise of answers waiting in the desert night they rounded a corner and ahead Moonlight spilled down the entrance shaft time to see if they'd surviv the night and if the truth was worth dying for they emerged into the
desert night at full Sprint twin moons cast everything in silvery light creating deceptive Shadows across the dunes the temperature had dropped further but Eric barely noticed the adrenaline and lyanna's warm hand in his kept the cold at Bay left lyanna pulled him sharply as energy fire scorched the sand where they'd been standing she moved with impossible speed yet somehow matched his Pace perfectly the dunes will give us cover behind them figures emerged from the facility entrance multiple weapons fired lighting up the night with deadly energy bolts they're hurting us Eric noted recognizing the Tactical pattern
trying to push us West then let's disappoint them lyanna's smile flashed in the Moonlight she suddenly changed Direction pulling him up a steep Dune how's your sand running terrible Eric grunted his boots slipping on the loose surface but I'm motivated they crested the Dune just as a massive explosion lit up the night behind them the facility's entrance had collapsed buying them precious seconds there lyanna pointed to a rock formation jutting from the sand about a kilometer ahead the ships hidden in those caves energy bolts started falling around them again as their pursuers regrouped Eric glanced
back the white suited Figures were now in the lead their Advanced gear let them move across the sand with unnatural speed the creators are gaining he warned returning fire to slow their Advance they want me alive lyanna said grimly they need my genetic pattern intact the others won't be so careful as if to prove her Point heavier weapons fire began impacting around them the Earth and skinni en forces were done playing nice they reached the bottom of the Dune and lyanna suddenly stumbled crying out softly Eric caught her before she fell noticing a Scorch mark
on her leg where an energy bolt had grazed her I'm fine she insisted but her Emerald skin had ped slightly like hell Eric wrapped an arm around her waist supporting her weight together her golden eyes met his something intense flickering in their depths together they moved as one across the sand Eric matching his stride to hers the rock formation grew closer but so did their pursuers Marshall Mark's voice carried across the desert desert Last Chance stand down or we be forced to use lethal Force Funny how they keep making that threat Eric muttered while actively
shooting at us lyanna's laugh was bright despite their situation your species has always been complicated about violence my species Eric helped her dodge another barrage getting racist now princess not racist she gasped her injury clearly painting her just appreciating the irony we were engineered to be perfect weapons yet humans are far more violent than we ever became they reached the Rocks ducking behind cover as energy fire lit up the night around them Eric took advantage of the position to lay down suppressing fire forcing their pursuers to scatter the ship he asked noticing how lyanna was
favoring her injured leg she pressed her hand against a seemingly solid rock face like in the facility hidden systems hummed to life a section of stone shifted revealing a Sleek spacecraft unlike Anything Eric had seen before prototype lyanna explained catching his expression another thing they didn't know we developed she stumbled again and this time Eric saw the wound was worse than she'd admitted inside he ordered lifting her before she could protest where you're going to explain exactly what else you haven't told me everything she promised her arms sliding around his neck that flower and ozone
scent enveloped him once we're safe I'll tell you everything heavy weapons fire began impacting the Rocks around them their pursuers had reached the outer edges of the formation Eric carried her into the ship feeling ancient technology come alive around them in his arms lyanna's skin seemed to pulse with faint patterns responding to the ship's systems the night was far from over and safety was a relative term but as the ship's hatch sealed behind them Eric realized he'd never felt more certain about a decision in his life now they just had to survive long enough to
see what that decision would bring the Prototype ship's cockpit came alive as they entered displays lighting up in response to lyanna's presence Eric settled her carefully into the Pilot's seat noticing how her Emerald skin had begun to Shimmer with what seemed like internal light autol launch protocols she commanded her voice strained but determined maximum stealth the ship hummed to life around them its advanced technology responding instantly through the view screen Eric saw their pursuers on the Rocks their weapons were useless against the Prototype Shields they're calling in orbital support he noted watching tactical displays flicker
with new warnings heavy Cruisers moving to intercept let them try lyanna's smile was fierce as her fingers danced across the controls this ship has a few more surprises they lifted off smoothly the prototype's engines nearly silent as they broke the atmosphere the ship's stealth systems made them virtually invisible to Conventional sensors need a destination Eric said watching the Cruisers searching fruitlessly for them preferably one without people shooting at us lyanna turned to him and suddenly the Warrior Princess facade fell away leaving something more vulnerable in its place come here first he moved closer and she
pulled him down into a kiss that tasted like star D and promise all the tension and attraction that had been building between them crystallized in that moment when they finally parted her golden eyes seemed to Glow brighter I needed to do that before showing you our real destination a new star map appeared showing coordinates far beyond known space there's a place she explained where others like me have gathered those who learned the truth and chose Freedom we we've built something new there away from both our people's Wars and prejudices a sanctuary a beginning she took
his hand her touch sending warmth through his entire body the evidence we stole from the facility will expose the conspiracy both our peoples will have to face the truth about their past but while that chaos unfolds she smiled we could help build a future instead Eric looked at the co ordinance then back at the remarkable woman beside him in a few hours she had shattered everything he thought he knew about Duty truth and possibility together he asked squeezing her hand together she confirmed the Prototype ship slipped into Quantum Drive leaving behind the Cruisers the politics
and the old lies as unfamiliar Stars streak past Eric pulled lyanna close feeling her settle against him with a contented sigh they had chosen their path not as weapon and Warden princess and guard or even skan and human but as two beings who had found something worth fighting for in each other ahead lay a new world and a chance to help shape it their Discovery would force both peoples to confront their past it might help them find A Better Way Forward but for now there was just this moment a ship raced through the Stars Two
Hearts Beat in sync something extraordinary waited at the Journey's End you know Leana murmured her head resting on his shoulder for a human you make quite an impressive Rebel Eric laughed pulling her closer for a living weapon you make quite an impressive partner she tilted her face up to his her smile radiant we'll probably have to save both our worlds eventually probably he agreed leaning down to kiss her again but let's start with saving each other first the ship sailed through the starry night it protected its cargo of Truth love and possibility they had found
each other Against All Odds and in doing so had discovered a chance not just for their own happiness but for something greater the future was uncertain but they would face it together a guard and a princess a human and ainan they had chosen to believe in something bigger than the divisions that had separated their peoples and in the end that choice made all the difference the end if you've made it this far congratulations you've survived a wild ride through space genetic conspiracies and a love story that could break a few Intergalactic laws who knew that
a fugitive princess with pheromone powers and a stubborn space cop could save the day and maybe the universe and all without crashing into a black hole or accidentally declaring war on an entire star system not bad right but seriously it's been a journey I dodged lasers navigated emotional landmines and found that sometimes the best weapons don't have triggers sometimes it's just about finding the right person to run with or in this case sprinting across sand dunes while people in white suits are trying to vaporize you you know normal couple stuff before you return to your
