Can you imagine escaping to a world where the wild things are that is covered with trees and different kinds of flora and fauna? There’s definitely something magical about a forest, and it’s certainly the case with the ones we’re talking about today. The calming effect that nature can have on people is clearly evident.
Spending time in nature has been proven to relieve stress and anxiety, increase happiness, and provide an immediate boost to your mood. Many people enjoy venturing back into the quiet of the wild, which is why so many of us love to go hiking or camping. Often a more natural setting in the fresh air can help you feel refreshed and rejuvenated.
Some people even view it as a spiritual experience. We've scoped out the globe to find the most beautiful forests in the world, and we found a lot of great options to choose from, but we’ve managed to narrow down the list to the top 15, so let’s get started. The Tunnel of Love Forest found in Ukraine is actually part of an industrial railway that is several kilometers in length surrounded by green arches.
These are formed from the branches of the trees of the forest that surrounding the tracks. It's so pretty and popular that several movies and commercials have been shot at this location. The trees grow in such a way there that the greenery abounds, and a corridor of sorts is made of them.
The Tunnel itself is about five kilometers or just over three miles long, and even though it is part of a functional railway system, it is also a favorite place for couples to go on romantic walks. The Sequoia National Forest found in California is a beautiful place that hosts 33 groves of Giant Sequoia, which is the largest and longest-living type of tree on Earth. The national forest was established in July 1908 and sprawls over a massive 353,000 acres of land.
This place is also a National Monument, and it's very humbling and amazing to see the towering trees and forestry which grow here. It's divided into three different sections that include lovely camping grounds. It is also home to wild and scenic rivers and lakes that make it even more unique along with dedicated wilderness areas within it.
There are over 8,000 Sequoia found here, which is half of the world’s population of this amazing tree. As the second-largest rainforest in the world, the Congo Basin Forest is a treasure found in Africa, spanning six different countries. There are over 600 species of trees and 10,000 different kinds of animals found in this majestic forest with land in Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central Africa, and the Congo.
This beautiful forest covers over 772,000 square miles of land and is roughly the size of Mexico. The Rata Forest, which lines the shores of the Auckland Islands in New Zealand, is yet another stop on our tour of the world’s most beautiful forests. The unique trees of the Rata Forest are greatly affected by the constant high winds, resulting in disfigured groups of tree branches that have thick canopies on top of them.
It’s quite the sight to see! Its trees are usually no higher than 65 feet off the ground with any taller ones being a rarity. Although it might not be considered beautiful in the traditional sense, the unique nature of this forest definitely makes it stand out.
Redwood National Park is home to another Californian forest that boasts some of the most massive trees in the world. The park includes not only majestic miles of forestry but also prairies and wide rivers. The forest stretches nearly 40-miles along the coastline.
With four campgrounds, amazing trails, and over 112,000 acres of land, this is quite the place to go on a relaxing, rejuvenating adventure that you won’t want to miss out on. Fun fact: Hyperion, the world’s tallest living tree, was found in this park in 2006 and is over 379 feet tall. The next spot on our list is the Otzarreta Forest located in Basque Country, Spain.
The forest is part of the Gorbea Natural Park and is a protected area of 49,400 acres. In the fall, the tree leaves turn to amazingly vivid shades of yellow, green, and crimson red. The Otzaretta Forest is composed of not only trees but also sedimentary rocks, which only adds to its natural beauty.
There are also hiking trails, caves, waterfalls, and mountain views. With a rich history and various flora and fauna, including some very rare species, this forest more than earns a spot on our list. There's a dense forest in Japan that is just as spooky as it is spectacular.
Aokigahara, better known as the Suicide Forest, is another pretty stop on our tour of the 15 Most Beautiful Forests in the world. It aptly earned its creepy name from the fact that many people have gone there to end their own lives. In fact, it has the unfortunate distinction of being listed as the number Japanese suicide site.
Despite its morbid name, the Suicide Forest is hauntingly beautiful and is located at the base of Mount Fuji. There is such a high number of dense trees that it has also been dubbed “Jukai” meaning “Sea of Trees. ” There are several caves also found within the forest, including the “Ice Cave” and the “Wind Cave.
" The forest is very unique as it has hardly any wildlife, and the hardened lava that forms the foundation of the forest absorbs sound, so it’s very quiet as well. Another gorgeous forest located in Kyoto, Japan, is a trendy tourist spot named the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest or "The Bamboo Grove. " Giant stalks of bamboo stretch so sky-high here that you'll be in pure awe and amazement as you venture through them.
This mystical forest makes our list due to its uniqueness and surrealism. In fact, this is one of the most photographed sites in the country. Tourists love the mystical Mossy Forest, which can be found in Brichang, Malaysia.
In the Mossy Forest, the views of greenery and nature abound with plenty of gorgeous things to see like the wild orchids, pitcher plants, and various species of wildflowers that encompass the entire place. Nearly all of the trees here are covered in a thick bright green moss, with wild ferns that grow all over. The whole effect makes the forest look like it is straight out of a fairytale.
Costa Rica is known to be a tropical paradise, so it’s not surprising that one of the prettiest forests in the world is found right here. The Monteverde Cloud forest is the home of many reptiles, birds, and bats as well as a diverse offering of plants and flowers. It is one of the best locations for orchids worldwide with more than 500 known species of the flowering plant.
This special forest covers nearly 26,000 acres near the city of Monteverde. Jiuzhaigou Valley is a nature reserve and national park covering 180,000 acres as part of the Min Mountains in Sichuan, China.
It’s a very stunning place that was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, back in 1992 and a World Biosphere Reserve in 1997. It has majestic mountain hills, thick forests, waterfalls, lots of wildlife, and its key feature—colorful lakes. The area, which is also called “Nine Village Valley,” is most well-known for the nine native Tibetan villages found there.
One of the most popular spots in the forest is Panda Lake, where Giant Pandas once frequented. The lake is known for its interesting blue/green color patterns and for the beautiful Panda Falls, which drop 255 feet over three steps. The Hallerbos Belgian forest is known as the Blue Forest for obvious reasons.
When you visit, especially in the Spring, you'll see a terrific feast for the senses all around you. The forest floor here is literally blanketed with millions of Bluebells. It has a dream-like atmosphere and quality to it that is very refreshing and enjoyable.
The out-of-this-world 1,360-acre woods is just covered with flora and fauna as far as the eye can see. There are paths for visitors to stroll through and different types of wildlife as well. The Blue Forest is an unbelievably pretty patch of woods that stands out because of the dense blooming flowers, trees, and plants that call this forest their home.
Probably one of the most famous forests on our list, the Amazon Rainforest found in Brazil is a real jaw-dropping crowd-pleaser when it comes to its vast landscape, and for a good reason. It's a tropical rainforest that spans 2,700,000 square miles, 60% of which is located in Brazil and other parts in countries like Peru and Columbia. It is stunning and is host to about 390 billion trees that are categorized into 16,000 species.
This rainforest has existed for over 55 million years, and many other different plant and animal species can also be found within it. It's beautiful to see because much of it has remained untouched, and there is a lots to be seen there. Many native tribes have also lived there and enjoyed its natural magnificence.
We were filled with a childish sense of joy and delight when we came across this particular forest in Hawaii. The Painted Forest, which is also known as the Rainbow Eucalyptus Forest, is composed of many absolutely stunning and vividly colored Eucalyptus trees that really look as if they were painted with a rainbow-colored brush. These marvelous little beauties are also huge in size, with some reaching almost 200 feet tall and six-feet-wide.
Combined with cascading waterfalls, rainforests, and even coastal views, this very refreshing and brilliantly colored forest is truly breathtaking. The Eucalyptus tree species that grows here is the one and only native Eucalyptus species in the Northern Hemisphere. The trees are also continually changing colors.
These colors change because when the bark sheds about once a year, it reveals a bright green inner bark, and this is this part that changes colors from orange to purple, to blue, and maroon as the bark matures. In China, the Yili Apricot Valley is an absolute must-see forested destination. Its natural scenery will not disappoint, as it is colored in vibrant bursts of green, pink, and blue. Yili Apricot Valley is often touted as the most beautiful area in Xinjiang.
It includes natural wonders like the Nanati Grasslands, the aromatic Lavender Garden, and the fascinating Sayram Lake. The tens of thousands of apricot trees that sprawl over the area have gorgeous apricot blossoms, especially in April. The mesmerizing view of this splash of pink mixed with dashes of white all around you makes you feel like you are truly in a magical or even a sacred place.
The vivid colors and beautiful scenery are truly breathtaking. Also, when that spring wind blows, you’ll immediately smell the fragrance of fresh apricots and grass. And if you want to see the most beautiful sunset you’ve ever seen, then this location should be at the top of your list, just like it’s on the top of ours.

. . There is a place in Poland known as “The Crooked Forest,” which is a grove of pine trees that have grown in odd, bent shapes.
Each of the 400 pine trees found there bend sharply in the same direction just above the ground and then curve back after 3 to 9 feet of sideways growth. To this day, no one can say for sure why the trees have grown like this. It's a real modern-day, natural mystery.
