Hey guys, what's up? I'm Adriano Carregaro, Professor of veterinary anesthesiology of FZEA-USP in Pirassununga and also the head of the Veterinary Anesthesiology Group (NAVE). I've been working and teaching anesthesiology classes for just over 20 years, and always come across some quite interesting questions as, for example: 'Professor, give me the protocol for a thoracotomy on a cardiopath.
' 'Professor, tell me the protocol for a TIVA on a patient with liver disease. ' 'Professor, throw me some tips on how to anesthetize a pregnant mare with colic. ' 'Professor, what can I do to perform resuscitation on megavertebrates?
' Then I throw back a few questions, just as a start: 'Do you know the difference between midazolam and diazepam? ' 'Why do you want to use tramadol instead of morphine? ' 'Why do you want to use norepinephrine and not some other vasoactive agent?
' 'Can you estimate the volume of hypertonic solution for this patient? ' 'What's that tracing on the screen? ' Well folks, it's not just me, but several other fellow anesthesiology teachers have been noticing that, nowadays, people want to know extremely specific things, but are forgetting about the bases of anesthesiology.
This has been bothering me a little because, sometimes, we're not focused on what's going on with the animal physiologically, but trying to administer drugs and perform different techniques instead. In this line of reasoning, I came here to offer my share of contribution as a teacher and will make available the course on the basis of anesthesia. This course will be called "Anesthesia Unravelled", will be completely free and available for everyone who are looking to improve their knowledge in the field of veterinary anesthesiology.
I hope it comes to be useful for as many people as possible, that's the plan. While you wait for the first video lesson, I invite you all to subscribe to the channel, follow us on social networks and also visit our website (www. nave.
