James Ein 7 describes this cre of spiritual infant in Christ. But if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth to all liberally and upgradeth not, and it shall be given him. Wisdom really belongs to you.
The adult believer unconsciously turns to First Corinthians 1:30 where Jesus is made unto us wisdom. But the babe in Christ, the undeveloped believer, has not yet learned the secret of trusting the word. He feels that he must do something in order to enjoy his privileges in Christ.
The sixth verse describes him. But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting, for he that doubtth is like the surge of the sea driven by the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord.
A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. This sense ruled mind is the companion of a recreated spirit. But the mind has never been renewed.
So there is no real fellowship between the recreated spirit and the mind that is in contact with the world and largely ruled by it. This believer does not know anything about Ephesians 1:3. Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ.

First Kings 18:21 gives us a graphic description of that kind of a believer. And Elijah came near unto all the people and said, "How long go the limping between the two sides? If Jehovah be God, follow him.
But if Bal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. Elijah was confronted with the problem of dealing with double-minded men.
In the modern church, we have the same problem. John 20:24-29 gives us a picture of the sensual Thomas. You remember that after the resurrection, Jesus had appeared to a number of the disciples.
Thomas had not been with them. And he cried, "Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails and put my finger into the print of the nails and put my hand into his side. I will not believe.
" He was a sensed knowledge believer. He had to see in order to believe. His senses had to be satisfied.
He could not take the word of God independent of his senses. We are confronted continually with that type of believer. Now God in his great grace came down into the realm of the senses in the person of Christ.
Then Christ arose from the dead and appeared among the disciples. Let them see him, hear him, and feel him. First John 1:1 to3 says, "That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we beheld and our hands handled concerning the word of life.
And the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare unto you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us, that which we have seen, and heard, declare we unto you also, that the also may have fellowship with us. Yay. And our fellowship is with the Father, and with his son, Jesus Christ.
You notice that that which we have seen and heard we are telling you is sense knowledge evidence. That was all right. In the early church during the first 15 years the early church lived very largely in the realm of sense knowledge faith.
We have many today that cannot believe beyond what their senses register. God let them see signs and wonders on the day of Pentecost because they were babes, just newborn. They knew nothing of the finished work of Christ.
None of them believed or knew about his substitutionary work. That was to come later through the Pauline revelation. Now, let me explain what's happening here.
You have a recreated spirit. When you were born again, your spirit became brand new. You received the nature of God.
You became a partaker of divine nature. Your spirit was completely transformed. But your mind, your mind wasn't automatically renewed.
Your thinking patterns didn't instantly change. Your way of processing information stayed the same. Your reliance on what you can see, hear, touch, taste, and smell remained.
So now you have this internal conflict. Your spirit knows the truth. Your spirit is connected to God.
Your spirit has faith, but your mind is still operating on sense knowledge. Your mind still wants proof. Your mind still demands evidence.
Your mind still can't believe what it can't see. This is why you're double-minded. One part of you believes, the other part doubts.
One part confesses the word. The other part confesses the problem. One part says, "I'm healed.
" The other part says, "But I still feel the pain. " You're limping between two opinions. You're like a wave tossed by the wind.
You're unstable in all your ways. You think you're praying in faith, but doubt is undermining everything you're asking for. James says clearly, don't expect to receive anything from the Lord when you're in this condition.
Not because God doesn't want to give it to you, but because your double-mindedness creates an internal contradiction that blocks receiving. You're like Thomas saying, "I will not believe unless I see. " You're requiring your senses to confirm what God has already said.
You're demanding physical evidence before you'll accept spiritual truth. You're letting what you feel override what God declared. And here's the tragedy.
You already have every spiritual blessing. Ephesians 1:3 says, "So you're already blessed with wisdom, ability, strength, love, and everything necessary. It's already yours, but you can't access it because your unrenewed mind won't let you believe what you can't see.
Your recreated spirit is trying to connect with divine truth. But your unregenerated mind is blocking the connection. Your spirit wants to walk by faith, but your mind insists on walking by sight.
Your spirit knows you're healed, but your mind says not until the symptoms leave. This is the war going on inside you. This is why you're exhausted from trying to believe.
This is why you feel like you're getting nowhere. This is why you keep praying for more faith instead of using the faith you already have. God gave you faith when you were born again.
Romanov three says God has dealt every believer a measure of you don't need more faith. You need a renewed mind that will cooperate with the faith you already have. Your problem isn't lack of faith.
Your problem is an unrenewed mind that won't let your faith operate. Your issue isn't spiritual. Your issue is mental.
This is why Romans 12:2 says, "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. " Not the recreating of your spirit that already happened at salvation. The renewing of your mind.
Your thinking has to change. Your mental processes have to be transformed. Your way of evaluating reality has to shift from sense knowledge to word knowledge.
You have to stop demanding that your senses confirm what God said before you'll believe it. You have to stop requiring physical evidence before you'll act on the word. You have to stop letting what you see hear and feel overrule what God declared.
Yes, God accommodated sense knowledge in the early church. He let them see Jesus risen. He let them touch his wounds.
He let them hear his voice. He gave them signs and wonders on Pentecost because they were babies who didn't know any better. But you're not supposed to stay a baby.
You're supposed to grow up. You're supposed to move from sense knowledge faith to word-based faith. You're supposed to progress from needing to see everything to believing what God said, even when you can't see it.
Hebrews 11:1 says, "Faith is the evidence of things not seen, not things you can see, things you cannot see. " Faith believes what is invisible. Faith trusts what is intangible.
Faith accepts what cannot be proven by the five senses. Your recreated spirit already knows this, but your unrenewed mind is fighting it. Your spirit wants to believe the word.
Your mind wants to believe your symptoms. Your spirit declares you're healed. Your mind says you're still sick.
One has to win this war. And the only way your spirit wins is if your mind gets renewed. The only way faith operates freely is if your thinking aligns with God's word.
The only way you stop being double-minded is if you make a decision will I believe what I see or what God said. You cannot serve both. You cannot limp between two opinions.
You cannot be ruled by your senses and walk by faith at the same time. You have to choose. And when you choose to renew your mind with the word, when you choose to think God's thoughts instead of sense ruled thoughts, when you choose to believe what's written over what's visible, everything changes.
The double-mindedness stops. The instability ends. The war between your spirit and mind ceases.
Your recreated spirit and your renewed mind work together. And now faith can operate without interference. So stop praying for more faith.
Start renewing your mind. Stop trying to believe. Start thinking differently.
Stop demanding proof. Start trusting the word. Your spirit is already recreated.
Now it's time for your mind to catch up. Renew it with the word. Transform it with truth.
Align it with your recreated spirit. And watch what happens when your whole being, spirit, soul, and body comes into agreement with what God has already declared. That's when you stop being double-minded.
That's when you become stable. That's when faith works without hindrance. That's when you finally receive what you've been asking for.
Renew your mind today. It's the key to everything.
