you know the truth of the matter is that we're we're pretty bad at changing other people's minds with facts and data as science literacy improves in our culture it doesn't make us better at you know Discerning real facts it just makes us better at using science to defend our existing beliefs but on a more um encouraging note we are pretty good at changing our own minds and so I think if we can generate awareness of these cognitive biases and at times if we're able use that awareness to make better choices in the future without shaming
ourselves or shaming other people who aren't making those same choices that can be really beneficial our cognitive biases developed for a reason they developed to help us make sense of of a very different world and now that our world is more complicated they they are not always so helpful but becoming aware of of biases like the sun cost fallacy has definitely helped me make slightly better choices in my personal and professional life
